So my rez fell out of my coat pocket getting out of the car the other day. I have a replacement screen coming. Obviously taking it apart voids the warranty. If I don't do so and I have an issue not screen related do you think vzw would replace the whole phone and cover it under warranty.

if they can tell you messed with it (missing warranty stickers, etc), then they probably won't cover it.
TEC through Verizon covers that kind of thing...its a great service.

Hi All,
I have dropped my phone several times and nothing never happened until yesterday when it fell out of my pocket. Now front glass has a nice crack near home button, is it possible to replace just the front glass like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Front-Glass-LCD-and-touch-screen-not-included-Samsung-Galaxy-S2-S-2-i9100-B-/280836834753?pt=UK_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item41632e05c1#ht_1897wt_1163
Or do I have to buy LCD+digitizer
no one knows?
If you used the search or a Google search or even read the previous posts with the same topic you might know .

If the the glass only cracked just change it. If the glass fixed with glue or sonething else just send it to samsung to replace it. XD

Hi! Unfortunately i dropped my phone and now it has huge cracks all over the screen. Do you think samsung covers for accidents like this?
Yes, ask them and you should get a new one, with a spare for next time you drop it too (saves on postage costs).

As above, insurance or repair as it was your own fault.

Is the back glass also protected by a thin plastic film as the front side is? Thanks
Yup.

It's just a normal screen protector though, not the glued on affair like the front so is a lot easier to remove.

The reason I was asking is because I noticed a small hairline scratch on the back glass and I have had the phone for barely a week now. I was really surprised because I have never dropped the phone and made sure it was never placed in a pocket with other sharp objects. First I thought the glass had probably cracked but I couldn't figure out how it could've happened since it's in a protective case as well.
Got the same issue. If I remove the back screen protector, will it void warranty?

It may, or it may not. It's a lottery, and you won't know for sure until you have to get it fixed down the road. But it would be really stupid of Sony to deny you service if the motherboard is fried, but you removed a god damn shatter protector, so "no soup for you!"

Thanks for the info bud. I'm guessing the worse case scenario is that I'd have to repair for any damages myself.
Shame, because the scratches are really annoying me.

Dropped phone, now something appears in front of the front facing camera internally. MOD EDIT: Warranty and returns are not for accidental damage Thoughts? I'll upload pics after work.

Dropped the phone and there's cosmetic damage. Is that a game changer?

Hence something must of been shook loose. I'll upload another pic later.

My S4 had the same problem. Took it to a repair guy who is comfortable taking the phones apart - it's a little gasket that looks like an o-ring that slips down in front of the camera - easy fix.
Good luck.
It's no longer water resistant once it's opened up too

He only charged me $10 and took him about 2 minutes start to finish.
They might charge you more than that cause you have to take off the display to get to the internal parts

If there's no visual damage to the outside and NO water damage you can just run it back and they'll replace it. Dont tell them you dropped it, just say you tried using it and all pictures look this way. Should be no questions asked and replace honestly. Sucks though.

Water damage HAS to be covered now since the phone is advertized as water resistant. Right?

Nope, if the back cover or charge port is not totally sealed and the indicator turns red, you'll pay your deductible or OOW fee.

Water resistant =/= waterproof
Thread cleaned of warranty fraud discussion...not on this site!!

I have the same issue with the front facing camera, only I never dropped mine. I started playing with the front camera on Friday and noticed a shadow along one side. At first, I thought this was some kind of filter I had accidentally applied. When I could not find a way to turn it off I thought maybe the top of my case was causing it. When I looked close, I saw that the top half of the camera was being blocked by this gasket. I took it to T-Mobile and they exchanged it as a manufacturer defect and I have a new one arriving today. Once the new on gets here I'll post some pics of the bad one.

Fair enough, but as stated directly following your message, someone had the same issue, took the phone in and was replaced under warranty so our previous talks prove factual, dropped or not this is a warranty issue, not fraudulent?
Either way I appreciate the work you do to keep this place tidy, thanks man.

I sure try... Thanks. The difference with the post after mine is the phone was never dropped. Warranty is for defects. Insurance is for accidental damage or bricking your phone. My statement was meant for just that, if you do drop it then responsibility should be taken and it is not proper to ask here if you can get away with getting it fixed under warranty.
Cheers
Kenny
Here are the pics I mentioned. Hopefully this does not turn into a widespread issue.
Front camera.
I have the same issue, didn't drop my phone. But the oring has shifted in front of the camera. Im wondering if I send it in if they'll fix it or just send a new one? Because I have a spigen glas.tr screen guard on it and I don't want to be out the money on it. I'd prefer they just fixed it.

I literally smacked the ring out of the way of the ffc. Don't know but this problem seems to happen to a few people.

I had tried knocking it back in place, I'll give that another try I think..before I'm stuck warranting it.
Front camera defect
Hi guys! I just joined this site to share my problem with my new Galaxy S5.
It's been weeks since i got my new phone from T-Mobile. I love it! It's a expensive phone so a good cellphone case is a must. I have a case and screen protector to protect my device. Suddenly, I just found out the same problems you had with your phones. I've never dropped mine either. So I think it's gonna be a manufacturer defect. Something is blocking the front camera. Again, I never dropped my phone, it doesn't have any scratches on the screen and any dents on its body.
I went to my network provider and ask for help about this issue. They sent me a replacement phone (Galaxy S5) after 3 days then I sent over to them the defective one. They said that it depends on the manufacturer/service tech if the phone defect is under warranty or not. I'm still waiting for them to check the phone. Or else I'm gonna be charge $175 out of warranty fee!
I'll attach pictures of my previous Galaxy S5. I hope this is not a widespread problem. Share your thoughts too! Thanks!
