Which modem to flash? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sometimes, mobile data signal is very low. It varies from excellent Hspa to minimal Edge... I suppose this is is somewhat due to modem I'm running. It's DXLPA that came with Wanam 12.1.
So, which modem would you suggest to flash? That has a stable data signal reception?

Modems are location and carrier dependent, you should try to test...
However, ask to other peoples won't help you so much, 'couse the best modem for "Herry" from Liverpool could not be the best modem for "James" from London....this is just an ex, the point is that tha network signal depends and changes of quality from place to place....
Edit: here a lot of modems---> http://veyka.co.uk/radios/

[Q] Best modem for AT&T?

Just wondering what the best modem is for ATT and some other question about modems.
Right now im running wanam lite kj1 5.6 with ICS domination theme. I have KI4 modem flashed because i was on villanrom which i might go back to because it has better battery life.
Does the modem affect the ROM in anyway? just wondering because most roms have a modem prefix to them on the development forum. or is there a certain modem better in every senario?
Thanks for your help!
I too would like to know the best modem for at&t. My current one (Current official uk unbranded) seems to completely lose signal after a phone call or just randomly, it quickly reestablishes connection but still annoying.

Have you tried Odin to push the uckj4 leak modem for the i777? All the 9100 modems I e used on my i777 turn the radio off when a voice call occurs then reconnects after call fails.

Maybe i9100 modems just dont work on i777 and vice versa. Hopefully someone could correct me but i guess its worth a try. Is it better to flash modems via odin then CMW? and another question whats the difference between a modem and a kernel? I know on some level the kernel has something to do with the firmware and the modem has to do with the baseband, but im still unsure about the difference.
Thanks again!
Also have the same problem. The 3g lost the signal randomly. my baseband is "UNKNOWN" . Any idea?

I'm assuming these guys are running real I9100s on AT&T (otherwise they're in the wrong forum) - pushing an I777 modem will likely completely break them.

I'm on baseband XXKI3, running my I9100 on AT&T... don't have any issues. No call drops, no signal drops after calls are done, etc. Works fine.

Funny - I have XXKI3 as well on AT&T and periodically I get drops and it's almost always just as syncing is initiated.
@robsw
I noticed you are located in Chicago. the problem could just be that AT&T sucks horribly in the downtown area. specifically anywhere near River North or the loop. I have tried just about every available modem and I still have data connection issues in those areas. Even friends with iPhones comain about poor data in those areas.
I use the ki1 modem on my I9100 on at&t in louisiana. Ive found this modem gives me the best signal in my area. I did use ki4 for a while but i kept getting dropped calls inside my house. Now with ki1 no more dropped calls

I live in Champaign,IL. Data drop/hang issue always there on KG2, KI3, KI4 modem. I had data issues even I have full bar of signal. But I do realize that data drop issue is location related. Every time I go to the same place, I got slow or data drop problem. Ha! maybe something isn't configure nicely between the tower and our S2.
yea, I was in Chicago this weekend, kept turning on Airplane mode and back on..
at&t is making me pretty mad.

I9100XXLPH
XXLPH Kernel as well.
I am in Colorado and my service is great. I dont have much experience with the GB radios because as soon as I got the phone Iw ent to ICS and never went back
It may be worth checking the sticker under the battery to confirm the phones version. In Australia, New Zealand, Israel and some other countries they also sell the I9100T which is just the same as the international version but works better on a T model modem. There are plenty of them linked in the Aussie thread in general.

I'm in the North suburbs. This most often occurs when I'm driving. The call will drop and more often than not, when I glance down at the phone, data will be syncing.

[Q] Galaxy SII i9100 (Poor Signal Strength)

Hey guys,
I'm using Resurrection Remix ICS 2.4 and I am experiencing a very low signal strength on the network 3 in the UK. One of my friends are using the same carrier with his galaxy s2 and rom however he is getting full signal and I am only achieving 1/2 bars and 3 outside.
What can I do to fix this problem?
Thanks,
izMarioZz
Try comparing you and your friend's 'About phone' in settings. You might have a signal problem because of your phone's Baseband version.
Try a different modem. The best version for me might not be the best for you. KH3 is a good modem to try.
Chris.

Thank you Chris, I'll install the KH3 Modem and I'll get back to you on if it works or not
Fekken i'll check with those settings tomorrow

[Q] 1900 mhz modem

Afternoon people. I have searched a lot for an answer to this and cant find a solution so any assistance is greatly appreciated.
I Have a sgs2 (i9100) and run the paranoid android rom, latest version. I now live in the usa and have a t mobile sim card, the information I have found says they now operate on the 1900 mhz frequency. My phone however wont connect to anything other than edge, how can I check which frequencies it is operating on? The modem is XXLQ6, does that have 1900mhz? Is there a different modem I can flash onto it?
Thanks for any suggestions!!

No.
dont bother about flashing another modem. Your phone will always be stucked on EDGE on Tmobile. AT&T 3G frequency is compatible with GT I9100
Alright, thanks mate. Incidentally I got to Vegas today and the reception shows a "H", guess they have upgraded the towers here. Still slow as buggery mind you.
Will look into an AT and T SIM card.

Probably yes. Because some iPhone owners on T-Mobile that were previously stucked on EDGE can now get 3G in some part of the country

[Q] I9100 No Mobile Network Coverage Indoor!

Hi,
recently I flashed the most recent nightly cyanogenmod into my I9100 phone. In the areas it used to have moderate mobile coverage now having zero coverage and the mobile says "No Service". I am based in Saudi Arabia and my baseband according to my phone is i9100XXLLPX.
I even tried many other firmware but the problem persists.
Thanks

Mobile network strength problem

Hello!
I have problem.
I have galaxy S2 with stock rom, and the phone comes from UK. I have pretty bad mobile network signal in Latvia. Comparing to some other S2 phone, it had better signal strength.
My guess would be, that some Frequency's are different. I couldnt find which phone builds are meant for which countrys, and couldnt get list of supported Frequencies.
My phone build nr. is "JZ054K.I9100XWLSD".

I meant that you're right, OP needs to flash a different modem.
I've added that he/she needs to flash the same modem as on the S2 with the good reception.
O ok cool. Sign may not be as good if on a different network or maybe it's his network that's slower than his mates network. But yes good advice and open should do that
