Is it possible to get the allshare cast and allshare dongle to work on a custom rom?
I would imagine so as long as it's a Samsung Rom, I'm on checkrom at the moment and all the allshare apps are there

the reason i asked is because with the allshare cast hub dongle, it only works with stock rom's and not with custom roms...
Well it's not hard to give it a try, use triangle away and flash a stock Rom so give it a go

Did you check it ? Maybe it will work with couple of roms? There isn't any unofficial video on the internet with testing Allshare cast dongle
It works without any problems on stock but as soon as you install CF-root the connection breaks and it won't connect to the hub anymore. Unfortunately I haven't seen a custom rom where it works

Same here, the only way I got it to work was to unroot. But only once, the first time I connected! After the first time, all I get is the same "current allshare cast conenction will end" every time I try and conncet... Also, as a side note, I was VERY underwhelmed with speed and picture quality that first time I connected... Very laggy and pixelated picture...
I have got the same problem :/ I hope they will fix it as soon as posible.
It works now on custom rom
If your SGS3 is on the custom rom (like Omega) you have to use "Triangle Away" app and hit the "reset flash counter"... and then reboot and try connect to the allshare cast dongle. Was tested on Omega 12.

Works perfectly! Wonder why Samsung would check if you have a custom rom, and block allshare if you had...
Can anybody confirm if the dongle also works on Omega Jelly Bean ROMs?

You can use the Allshare dongle with miracast. It also works with CM10.1 on my Verizon S3 if you go to Settings > Display > Wireless Display

Can you explain how this works with Miracast
I have the allshare dongle, what do I need to do?
I tried it with both PACman ROM and AOKP on my S3; I get a super laggy and horrible quality on my TV but no sound at all. Even tried different TV and different HDMI cable :S What's up with that?
PS. I tried it with another S3 running stock and works flawlessly.

Mine : pacman ROM, and aokp
Other s3 : stock Samsung ROM
The allshare app worked perfectly on the stock.

Of course it does. It's a proprietary technology. The sources are not shared, it will work perfectly on Stock. Never expect any good results using 3rd party applications on non-touchwiz roms.
If you truly want allshare cast, use Touchwiz roms.
So if I would use a Samsung based ROM (touchwiz) like omega or moar rom, it would work?

Yes it should work fine. Only AOSP is a problem

Hi all, anyone running an ICS CM9 rom with a working Samsung AllShare app? I've tried installing it and changing the permissions as found in other posts, but doesn't seem to work, just FC's.
Any suggestions?
Use Twonky Mobile, is a lot better than AllShare.

gapps 4.2 works close to perfect on my s3. i was just wondering if anyone tried it on their tab10.1
Sent from my GT-P7500 using xda app-developers app
Yeah I was wondering the same thing, I tried it on my Acer a510 running CM10 (unofficial) but photosphere just kept crashing with the gallery FC every time I tried it, I changed the language to United States as the workaround suggests but still FC.
Android Keyboard FC too.
Anyone else tried it and got photosphere to work? or have a workaround?
Yes, i've installed gapps-jb-42 on CM10, work great including calendar.

Some of them are crushing unfortunately, for example photo sphere. Android keyboard works perfectly with no FC. I.e. on my p7500 work almost perfect.
There's no setting on Gallery.

yes, tried, all working great especially keyboard
camera quality is same as CM10

Same here (latest CM10 build).
Work fine but on a fresh install I had the keyboard missing and had to install another one.
Not 100% sure it was gapps's fault anyway.

Hey sorry for being a noob, but can u provide the link of where u downloaded it and the link of how u installed it, and do u need to do a full wipe?
Hi we recently bought a Samsung smart TV. I am fan of pacman ROM and now moved to omega 44.3 to ensure easy n better connnectiviry to my new smart led TV.
But now I think n want to know if we can enjoy features of smart TV while running aokp/cm/pa?
I dont find uploading to allshare is a facinating idea. I don't want my stuff allover the place besides eating up precious data.
Could you please suggest?

Samsung features like that won't run on aosp as they are part of TW framework

Thank you. but my question is are there any work around to get same benefit? Say instead of all share some other like dropbox. Some screen sharing app etc...

Try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bianor.ams
it's called iMediaShare
With "Smart Remote" you can replace "AllShare Control".

Hi Guys,
Ive just upgraded my S3 to the Zdroid ROM 4.3 from the Lightforce ROM 4.2.2 Leak. Since doing so I can no longer access the Playstore or Amazon Appstore and some other apps on the Wifi at work, some however work fine like Tune in player pro.
I work in the UK in Norwich but somehow my companies internet connection goes through America so everything thinks im outside the UK, Iplayer, Freeview apps and the like.
What im trying to figure out is
How come my 4.2.2 rom was fine and I got onto everything using the same wifi connection
And
Is there anything I can do or am I stuck with 3G only for certain apps if I need them at work?
Any help appreciated
I did try and search but I couldn't find anything much to do with this sort of issue.
Either flash a stock rom or ask in your rom thread.

Just me as far as im aware, that's why I thought it was the ROM..
Sounds to me like it has to do with ZDroid 4.3 Rom. I would check with rom thread if its a known bug. Maybe try flashing a different 4.3 Rom and see if that fixes the issue, that way you can be sure its the rom.
Hi everyone,
I am having issues with running Plex on my lg g pad 8.3.
The tablet finds my server, but when I try to play a video in plex the screen remains black. The video won't start. This is the case for every video in plex.
Tried several versions. My server is okay because a s3 and tab 8.0 can play the videos.
Can someone help me out here? G pad is on stock rom.
Odd. I run place all the time on my gpad. Try wiping the cache and data for plex on the gpad.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately this was not a solution.
Are you running stock rom as well?
Check the settings to see how you have it configured. I too am running Plex without issue. Also what version of plex are you running?

Did not changed a thing in settings. Compared setting with the ones on the galaxy s3 and they are exactly the same.
I will try a factory reset on my tablet and test again.
Version 3.1.5.41

Hmm, wouldn't expect root to make a difference. However I do recommend it but for other purposes. In any case it appears I am running a much newer version - 3.2.4.87. Additionally check the following options to make sure they are on: Direct Stream and Direct Play. Also check the video quality that you have set. I have mine to 3 Mbps 720p.
