Help editing .db database on PC - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need help in editing my sms database on Windows PC..
I tried SQLite Database Browser but it does not work, all that happens is the name of the db shows on the top but the browser stays empty like nothing changed.
I also tried just to use notepad++ but it opens in what seems like encrypted.
What other options do I have to be able to edit it?
Its my Evo3D mmssms.db that I'm looking to edit.
Thank you.

No one have a solution?

Im using DbVisualizer to edit SQLites. works great.

Encoding
Hi guys,
I try to use your tool but when I open the mmssms.db with it, I can't read the file. It seems that the encoding is not right. Could you tell me what kind of encoding are you using ?
Thanks a lot
PS: Sorry for my english, I'm french

Hide Picures in album

Hello.
i have install program from the SD memory and some of the pictures displayed
in the album.
is there any were to hide the pictures or remove them without getting error on the software.
Thanks in advance
Search the Market for hide photos, I'm sure there are a few options
you can create an empty text file (using notepad), call it ".nomedia" and remove the ".txt" extension.
Place this file where you want pictures/audio to be ignored...
works for me.
I tried to upload a sample file, but for some reason, I can't, but it is pretty straight forward.
Thanks For the Help. but when i copy the txt-nomedia nothing is happening- i can still see the files
Or, rename the folder the pics are in to .(name here)
Android ignores folders that have a (.) as the beginning character
wow it works but the program wont open :/
thanks anyway. i learned something new

Oh well that seems to be a problem. I suggest you email the developer and ask him to put it so that the pics don't show in the gallery. It has a simple fix on his part

Reboot your Hero.
Problem
The problem is that after a few days the files in the directory containing the .noname file are gone. The directory is than empty exept for the .noname file, that still exists.

[Q] Editing a XML problem

My problem isnt to know what i should edit, it's more like when i open this file (attached here) i'm getting random text which most likely indicates that it's unreadable.
I tried using notepad at first, then dreamweaver and at last some XML editor from microsoft. All failed. I dont think it's something wrong with the file since it works fine.
Anyone able to get it right? Thanks in advance.
If I don't remember wrong, it's notepad++ you're to get?

What textfiles do you try to edit?
It could be a permission problem.
I use the text editor built in "ES File Explorer", I am very happy with it.
Sometimes I also use the terminal emulator and "vi".
Thanks for the tip, I'll give file explorer a go.
I am trying to edit hw_config.so
The flashtool in this area that people use allows you to edit a file in your phone and thankfully I did it. But as you know you need an app on your phone to do that too. Root explorer won't allow me. I've mounted, changed permissions to all types and no luck.

Ok, that was also the first reason why I did choose "ES File Explorer" I have been very happy with this file manager.

how to view items in localstorage

While using root browser, I went to my web browser folders and noticed localstorage..in it contained files that looks like a web history. For example http_forum_xda-developers.com_0.localstorage
How do I open this file? Also some are called journal at the end..do I need to use SQL on my computer to open the journal?
Thank you for any help
Anyone?
Please help if you can. I have already searched a million times without luck...thanks

How to Decrypt Snapchat files?

Okay. So a friend of mine sent me a picture which is very important.
Now. I have tried all the methods mentioned but they don't work because they are really old. I found my snaps in the received_image_snaps folder in data/data/com.snapchat.android/cache.
I got the "*.nomedia" files but whenever I decrypt them in AES ECB algorithm ,it saves as a .dat file and then when I change the extension to .jpg and try to open it. It dosen't open and says corrupted.
Any help devs?

That file is only so the snaps won't show in any gallery app on the device. It's an old trick to keep some things private in say your pic/music/video/backup what ever folder
Had you searched you would have found that there are a few threads about this and to my knowledge no one has found a way once Snapchat deletes the files after it is viewed
