Condi's AiO tool provides for turning off update notification via Main Menu selection 4 * Tweaks and Mods [SUBMENU] then selection 3 Toggle OTA system updates and notifications [enable/disable].

Many thanks, it works

after updating to r5a with condi's AiO 5.2 i cannot get the system update notifications to turn off. i have tried AiO 5.3, and yet still have annoying popups, and the download icon in my tray. any help would be appreciated.
edit - found another thread that fixed the problem
The Poetic Vampire said:
Use your favorite file explorer app to navigate to /system/app/ and simply rename "Automagic.apk" to something like "Automagic.apk.bak". This will disable those notifications and give you the option of undoing it later-on (remove the ".bak" you placed on the name) WITHOUT using ADB.
Gotta thank condi for the solution to my problem 'cause i actually took the fix right out of his tool's coding, so thanks man!

6.12.173 leak = 6.12.173 soak

Same filesize and MD5 for the "Blur_Version.6.11.748.XT912.Verizon.en.US.zip" between leaked update (by yours truly) and the official soak test OTA to 6.12.173. Just to let everyone interested in the subject know. Although most of you already knew where to find that info... I am not allowed to help you guys find it anymore though. Linking to another phone site is against XDA rule 11. to not sell things. I was graciously reminded of that when most of my posts were deleted today ^_^
I did this already thanks to the info on the other site for Verizon users.
Here's what i found i needed to do.
1. Root
2. install OTA rootkeeper, save root and unroot
3. hold both volumes plus power to get to fastboot
4. press both volumes to get to the built in Moto-recovery
5. install the above zip
6. restore rootkeeper's root.

Do you "temp unroot" using the OTA Rootkeeper? Or do you unroot thru the PC?

you don't have to temp unroot. You can just install the update and then restore root afterwards.

I had problems doing that, would not restore root no matter what I did. I had gone ahead and flashed .174 so I had to fastboot back to .744 and try again, but temp unrooting before each update.

It's a great update, EXCEPT... you can no longer disable the battery full notification / chime, and the battery full notification triggers a red flashing LED that can't be cleared.
I take that back - you CAN disable the notification option, but it doesn't make any difference.
Oh, and this overrides any other notifications that use the LED.
Three steps forward, one back.
there is already a 2.36 realease Blur_Version.651.167.20.XT910.Retail.en.EU + BP 03.1C.91P + WT 2.0.0-139 + Bootloader 0A.6C
so whats the need for this unless its CDMA?

How to disable OTA Update Notification for Root users?

I can't seem to find which program to freeze in Titanium Backup. Any ideas out there?
Have any 10e root users accepted the update? Do you lose root even with Voodoo Keeper?
Thanks!
You can try freezing 'lgfotapermission' app using Titanium Back up. It's just my guess. No guarantees. YMMV.

Actually looking thru the backup/restore column in titanium backup I don't see that app anywhere. Only LG prefixed app's I see are as follows:
LG Keyboard...
LG MLT 2.3.8
LGinstallservice 1.3.11 (Perhaps this could be it??)
LGSetupWizard 4.3.013
LGSystemServer 1.0

Thanks - I found it, and froze it, however I'm still getting the notification. Even after reset. Odd.
I believe the update check code is embedded into the settings apk. It will need to be re-compiled to prevent this.
If we knew what URL the device is getting its updates from we can block it with a hosts entry.
I found some info here on disabling the update notification for anyone who is still interested.

It looks like you need to freeze these two apps in Titanium Backup:
com.lge.lgfota.permission
com.lge.omadmclient
V10C P765 Rooted
I simply unchecked following option and I think it stops future OTA Notification.
Settings >>> About Phone >>> Software Update >>> Check Automatically (Uncheck this)

Doesn't seem to work as update notification is still popping up on my P769.
This is how I stoped my phone from updateing and nagging. ( Must be rooted )
1. Download and install ( system tuner apk from playstore )
2. Launch system tuner and choose ( system with the red icon )
3. Choose (Google services framework ) and hit (details)
4. Scroll down to services and uncheck ( update.systemUpdateService
Thats all.
Hit thanks if it helped.

While I can't vouch for anything else besides the P675 10e Tmobile version, the following method will stop the update prompts. It *should* work on all ICS and JB devices, including Nexus.
0. Root, if you haven't already.
1. Download AutoRun Manager
2. In ARM, choose "Advanced"
3. Touch the wrench icon, and check
- Show System Entries
- Enable System Application Disable
4. Back on the application list, tap the refresh (circle arrow) icon if you don't see system apps. They should have a red background.
5. Find the app Google System Framework (aka: GSF) and tap it.
6. Uncheck the "com.google.<something>.gsf.update.SystemUpdate" receivers. I can't read my own handwriting at the moment, but they both end in SystemUpdate.
Am I the only one who definitely DONOT hit thanks when I see this line "Hit thanks if it helped"?
Thread cleaned. I don't see the reason of this whole argue you had. If someone wants to post hit thanks, let it be. It's definitely not worthy to be discussed. Now you should both excuse each other for jumping the guns for nothing.
I really hope you will.

This caused a permanent wakelock on SystemUpdateService on my LG Optimus P769, so my phone never went to sleep mode. I even rebooted several times, and checked over several days. As soon as I re-enabled update.systemUpdateService, the phone was able to sleep again. It did seem to prevent the OTA popup from re-appearing, but at a cost of battery life.

Flashed. All great. Lost root at first but flashed the file and all is well. Thank you very much!
I have one question. I mean I backed up, and all is fine but my internal sd card got wiped, unlike it should. Is that part of your wiping process or is it something with the s3 mini. Just for future reference.

I think that i was install before a wrong area stock rom. Do you know or recommend what is the better to install this device to work with 3g 850 band, in Costa Rica and i can install your amazing rom?....
You can flash modem.bin from your original stock ROM. Extract it uzing 7zip or WinRAR, upload it somewhere and paste the link here, I'll make it flashable via Odin.
A question a bit off-topic... is there anyway to know which mods can be installed on any S3 Mini (I8190, I8190L, I8190N) and which mods can't? I'm guessing that anything that has to do with kernel has to be very device specific, but can I flash any custom recovery (CWM, TWRP) regardless of the phone's version?
Well for instance, the L version doesn't have NFC and the N version does, they could differ in lots of things so no you can't just flash anything on it.

Either you have the stock recovery : place the update.zip at the root of your Internal storage,
either you have an unlocked bootloader + custom recovery (TWRP 3.0.2-0) : place any .zip you want anywhere...
If you want a custom recovery, ask me.

I am on 5.1.3.0G. Is there any way I can update to this without losing everything (apps, contacts, sms etc) on the phone? Thanks.

No you don't need to wipe, but warning ! You will lose unlocked bootloader, if you have it !
Ask me if you want to keep it...

I didn't unlocked the bootloader yet because I didn't need it.
BTW, do you know if using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65533839&postcount=69 we will get OTA updates on Global rom installed on Chinese phones?

It is not useless if I need to use the pc and adb everytime I want to update the global ROM on a Chinese phone.
Steps to definitively transform a chinese PRO 5 into International PRO 5

Follow my steps :
You are on 5.1.30A
Install 4.5.0.0U or A
Root with the Meizu app "My Account"
Modify the file to spoof firmware type from China to International. (with that tutorial : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65533839&postcount=69)
You now have 4.5.0.0A, spoofed in G.
Simply install an International firmware (5.1.5.0G)
You now have 5.1.5.0G, no spoof : real International...
When 5.1.6.0G will be released, you will only have to simply install by downloading the update.zip to your PRO 5 with the browser... Then moving the file at the root with the file browser...

Can you please tell me how to do this? Using the method in the link I posted? 4.5 Chinese or international?
Also, won't I need any wipe for all these steps to work?

Updates with twrp and root.

Xiaomi has forced an update on me and it says it will update tonight at 2am, will this brick my phone? I assume the update cannot be applied with a custom recovery? Is there any way to turn this off theres no menu button so i cant change anything in the updater.

You can go to settings/About phone/system update you will see three dots upper on the right, go to Auto updates and you can choose between options like Download automatically and Install automatically

As I said there is no menu button there this time by that I meant the 3 dots. It is being forced on me and there doesn't appear to be a way to stop it.
Okay i used a file manager to locate the zip file and delete it and now the 3 dots have appeared i clicked auto update and as i suspected i already disabled auto update and auto download everything in that menu is disabled so i dont understand why it has downloaded a file i didnt tell it to and then set a time to update it. The notification of an update also cant be swiped away, this is more intrusive than the windows 10 updates!

So strange anyway you have some of these two options;
- Freeze the app Updater through Titanium
- Delete directly (or copy in other secure place just in case) with a root file explorer, go to /system/app/Updater. Not confuse with /system/app/SystemAppUpdater this app updates the system apps from miui
