At first,I get S-Off via Revolutionary tool! Then I flashed "cwm-4.0.1.4-shooteru.img" via fastboot and "su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip" from sdcard.
But after downloading and install ROM Manager from Market it wont let me install
the new recovery img!
Phone freezes or get off and only boot to the HTC splash image.
I also tried to flash "su-2.3.6.3-efgh-fixed-unsigned.zip",but same problem.
Only solution to get phone working again,I did restore the backup of my
stock ROM!
Anybody have same problems with ROM Manager?

I'm on a CDMA EVO 3D and I ran the revolutionary s-off process.
I would think the process would be the same between the CDMA and GSM versions, but I could be wrong.
I've seen on his twitter feed he has been making updates to the recovery. I had no issues opening the app, pressing download latest recovery and then pressing reboot into recovery. Worked flawlessly for me.
Does ROM Manager download the new recovery properly? Does it say it flashed the new recovery successfully? Does it reboot into the new recovery?
Which part of the process is not working for you?
The more detail you can provide the easier it'll be to help troubleshoot!

I tried the first option "Install ClockworkMod Recovery" and choosed the EVO 3D

I got the "Rome Manager granted su rights" window but after this, phone
freezes and after removing battery and reboot, phone stucks on HTC splash image!

I am guessing that you have a GSM phone since you have a Deutschland flag? I don't think that the CMW recovery in Rom Manager works on GSM, only CDMA. There is a recovery in the GSM section that is based on the CMW recovery. If I am wrong, let me know.

Boot into recovery menu works with ROM Manager, but can`t download
and install the newest cwm recovery!
The statusbar of downloading and installing the recovery shows always 0%
for 10 or 15 minutes and then phone freezes.
Maybe the mobile network is the problem, because ROM Manager says we should
use Wi-Fi connection!
Is there a way we can download the image of Clockwork separate from using ROM manager?
You can take a look at here:

@ganii
i had the same problem when flashing cwm to my evo 3d gsm. phone froze and had to do a stock restore.
you mentioned that it requires wifi to download correctly? did you by any chance try that?
Can`t test Wi-Fi connection,at the moment no internet at home
But I flashed official recovery-clockwork-4.0.1.5-shooter.img and
recovery-clockwork-5.0.1.0-shooter.img to my phone via fastboot
and no ones works.
So I think clockwork recoverys only available for cdma EVO 3D at the
moment.
Only recovery which works for EVO 3D gsm,I think,is
cwm-4.0.1.4-shooteru.img,which made by Revolutionary.

Hell yeah. Thanks a bunch!
go to koushs website and get the recovery image from here
http://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/02/clockwork-recovery-image.html
Download Android commander here:
http://androidcommander.com/
In android commander select phone at top, flash, recovery and choose the clockwork recovery image, simplest way. i've had to do this with multiple phones that would not flash clockwork through rom manager, even on og evos oddly enough. hope i helped!
TimidRat: I tried to do this, but I am not exactly sure how to flash the recovery from Android Commander. I tried to to highlight the image and click flash but nothing happens. Am I missing something? Thanks!

Afterbyou click flash click recovery and select wherever you saved the recovery image too.
Anyone having success in installing Clockwork manually through the Terminal Emulator? I installed the flash_image file, placed the image in the root of the sdcard, ,su'ed, entered flash_image recovery /sdcard/clockwork.img, but for the life of me it won't recognize the file giving the stupid no such file error. Grrrrrrrr....
What's bugging me is that this is how I did it for 2.3.3 while I was rooting it. Makes me want to throw something.
Not tested yet ,but why you don`t flash it as "PG86IMG.zip" from sdcard
via booting into bootloader?
Example attached:
Appreciate the link Ganii, but I enjoy doing it manually. However, I did find a substitute method that will install it without leaving the native android GUI. It's joeykrim's flash image gui app. It's pretty good and works great.Makes me a little bit lazy, but it'll have to do until I find a blog.so file.
Help me please some one. I am having a similar problem with my EVO 3D CDMA. I rooted via HTC method, install CWM, ROM Manager and every thing was fine. ROM Manager got a updated to flash latest CWM to 5.0.2.0. Didn't notice anything at first, but when I try to boot into CWM my phone just reboots itself instead of recovery. So I'm guessing I don't have any type of recovery. Someone please help me fix this!!!! Also one more ?, I am kinda new to all this I had a blackberry before getting the EVO 4G then move on to to the 3D anyway if I run the RUU will that erase my SD card?

Go back into rom manager scroll to the bottom and flash alternate recovery amon-ra's, its much better than clockwork on the 4g, or use the instructions I posted above and do it through android commander. Also make sure fastboot is off under settings power...
I installed twrp2 on my I717 Galaxy Note and want to return back to CWM. Does anyone know how to do this? I have all my backups in CWM and want to go back.

Just put CWM.zip on ur sd card and flash it.
Twrp should be replaced with CWM.

I found cwm sketchy with backups and switched back to braways. I had cwm touch installed and ROM manager(finally supported) but the issues were too many.
I found using "flash touch recovery" from my tools in aospxxx works nicely.

That's for recovery, the Mets-inf folder is the script to write the recovery.img
That's weird, You may try downloading the zip fresh, or if ask else fails grab the Odin flashable tar and use that.

Now, I can run TWRP and run it from there without any ill effects (meaning, a bricked phone!), yes?
Yup.
Given you download the correct file for this device.
If that still fails, which I dunno why I would, it should go without saying The Odin file, will need Odin a pc and a Usb cable

That has the Odin flashable cwm touch file... that version is outdated so after flashing that, you'll have cwm, but flashing a newer Rom zip might end up with a "status 7 error" in recovery.
At that point I'd personally use goo manager go grab the latest version of a cwm zip, that'll be usable in the version of cwm I posted above.

Are you saying I should _not_ use TWRP to put CWM on?
No, it should work, just saying if it still gives you the proverbial finger, Odin is your friend and that version is just the latest with an Odin .tar
So to have your cake (cwm) and eat it too (flash new roms) you'll need to update your recovery from that older version of cwm
So you said you get an error when you tap to install? You should be flashing that zip in recovery like you would a ROM or mod. Is that what you did? After it installs just reboot recovery within twrp and bam!!! You'll have cwm.
Thanks so much for your help...my problem remains, so I may go back to a stock ROM for T-Mobile, since that is my provider, and see if I can solve it... Before I installed CWM, I could sms/mms to my e-mail address...I can't any longer.
I rooted my ATT GNote using Odin from GNote rootICS. After root was completed and my phone rebooted same computer I used Odin on, a message kept popping up everytime I connected the phone back with PC. The message was "missing identity of the device...contact manufacturer". After trying several times it finally recognized my phone as mass storage device and didn't see SDstorage to transfer after trying a couple if times again I was finally able to see SDstorage and then I moved zip file of PA to storage. After all this struggle when I flashed ROM using CWM. The installation failed and some status 7 error popped up...can anyone please guide me where did I go wrong?
P.S Phone is not bricked becoz I was able to restore it back nandroid copy I made before flashing PA ROM.

The latest ROMs have had issues with CWM, which is why everyone seems to be using TWRP--the one the Paranoid Android developer linked to, and suggested in the PA thread. He included it in his tutorial.
To rehash:
Copy the TWRP .zip file to your device,
(or install goomanager, then hit menu, and selet install openscripts)
Flash TWRP
Download PA (a newer version may or maynot be available on another site).
Check the MD5, ensuring you got a good download, and that the upload wasnt bad.
Flash.
Enjoy.
In short, make sure you have a good download, and flash the TWRP recovery .zip , then flash the ROM from TWRP.

I was only wondering if this was available since we can't flash recovery images on the opposite recovery. I have made a recovery image in TWRP but have not gone so far to not just flash CWM and make a recovery image that will serve as my new point zero. Just curious since I only saw flashable CWM.

the link you gave to TWRP recovery was exactly what i was looking for. In the TWRP website they have a flashable option for TWRP to use in whatever existing recovery you have, that is CWM for us. Under droidstyle's guide (there's the thread also in dev section too for CWM) there is also a link for flashable CWM so now im set.
Although you already found what you were looking for, you can also download/run the goo manager app, press menu->install open recovery script. That will install TWRP.

I was hoping this way would let me get out but Ive now lost any custom recovery while in paranoid android. So what i did was while in Jelly Beans rom is flash CWM recovery to then flash Paranoid. I then decided to go back to beans, and i tried to flash TWRP zip that i has to restore my recovery. That failed an i have no recovery. I only have android system recovery <3e>. I am currently trying the goo manager to get me back, but so far i dont think im doing it right ill keep trying.
...So with goo manager i cant flash back to beans, i cant flash CWM back on, and ive: installed open recovery script to to install the TWRP img file but it must not have worked, but i cant see anything to indicate not.
Ok so im am stuck with just the stock recovery. In goo manager it says the recovery was installed but if is reboot to recovery its just crappy old boring stock and if i try to flash anything from goo manager it just reboots to that same stock recovery. Anyone know how to get a custom recovery back?

The TWRP in goo manager is not the correct one for our phone. I did the same thing and ended up in the same position as you. I used the suckitverizon file from Adams thread and odined it back on to the phone. If was in that position now I would use the newly released tool kit.
Good luck.

Im downloading the toolkit now but in the meantime did you have to restart the whole process in the 3 step bootloader unlock or did you just start at flashing suckitverizon version 2 in odin? Im just wondering how safe that is.

No I did not have to start over. If I recall correctly, I put the suckit file in the pda box and hit start. You can read up on it in Adams main thread and I know there were a few other people in the same fix.
Good luck
Toolkit saved my bacon. Many lessons learned. so if i want to restore an image in twrp say from paranoid then i use cwn to flash to a rom that plays nice with twrp then flash twrp back then recover in twrp. Now if i get stuck the toolkit has the correct twrp and cwm for the verizon note ii.
spoke too soon i though at least getting cwm was all good. However the toolkit wont install TWRP which is what i have my backups made on. i followed all the step on screen and selected sch-i605 to be flashed in odin. I can only reboot into stock recovery afterwards. :crying:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2051992 This has been asked (by me) and answered (by awesome folks with more sense than me).
ok it all over. CWM can be had by flashing zip in twrp or through tool kit. twrp i only regained by odining again the suckitverizon from Adam's unlockbootloader thread.
I'm running CM 11 nightlies, usually the latest.. I've been running CWM 6.0.4.4 for as long as I can remember after initially rooting/loki patching my phone.
Last week, Rom manager notified me that there was an update to CWM, 6.0.4.7. I thought "cool" - and I flashed it via Rom manager, which reported this was a success.
However, whenever I rebooted into recovery, I still had CWM 6.0.4.4. I tried again, fail. Decided to clean flash my next nightly and try again. Same thing. Could not get Rom manager to update.
I flashed over to Twrp using goo manager which worked fine. I used Twrp to flash over to Philz touch which worked fine.. anytime I use Rom manager now though, it seemingly does nothing even though it reports a success. For example, if I am on TWRP and use rom manager to flash the latest CWM, I'll be met with a success but a reboot into recovery leaves me still with TWRP and no CWM.
I guess I'm just wondering if anyone can help me figure out what's going on -- I know I've seen others at least in the CM forum post about Rom manager acting similarly, but I also hear reports that it works fine for others. Ultimately I just ended up making a 6.0.4.7 flashable zip of my own to upgrade but I'd rather get things figured out vs make a new flashable zip anytime an updated version of CWM comes out.
