I have had several issues ever since going with the official update. I am S-Off, am using the jp-bear hboot 2.25.2525 and AmonRa 3.15. I also rooted my phone. The first time I did the update, I RUU'd back to Gingerbread and started with a stock setup. I took the OTA and did the update. It seemed to go well but I was having issues with 4G not showing up and only getting 3G. I did not have this problem on 3.11, 3.13, or the first 3.14 leak. I ended up using the PH98IMG RUU for 3.14.605.12 and got the same problem with 4G. I did a full RUU again and no luck. I ended up going in to the stock Hboot and did a factory reset. That did the trick and I have had 4G ever since. However the signal doesn't seem as strong as it did with previous leaks. At home, I would usually get 4-5 bars consistently. Now I ususally get 2-3 bars and sometimes 4. I did have an issue with my previous extended battery cover but got another that wasn't damaged. And the cover is on tight. But after confirming that I had 4G, I flashed AmonRa, added the jp-bear hboot, and finally rooted it. The final problem I am having is with my email. For most of my accounts, I have been having problems with the stock email app updating. I have tried deleting accounts and then re-adding them and sometimes when re-added, wont download any emails at all. And I have one email that uses exchange. That one seems to be pretty reliable and usually works as it should. I had the same issues with 3.14.605.5 but never tried 3.14.605.10. I don't remember these email issues when I used 3.13.605.7 or the 3.11 versions.
I am seriously considering going back to the 3.13 version or even trying the 3.14.605.10. I have full downloads of all the ICS versions so it would be very easy to do. Has anyone else had these issues? Would it make sense going back to one of the earlier versions?

Well 5,7,10 and the ota 12 all have the same radios so that won't help. My guess is a failing or under performing lte card. I would try and get a replacement

I do have 4G now but it took a lot of messing with the latest update to work. It worked fine with GB and when I just RUU'd back to GB to do the update, it had strong signals and grabbed 4G right away. I just hate to go back to GB and thought one of the leaks came with 1.22.10.310r,1.22.310.308r instead of the official 1.22.10.421r,1.22.10.424r.
When you say the lte card is possibly failing, are you talking about replacing the SIM card or is it some hardware in the phone that would need a replacement phone?
Well I think Ive gotten the signal issue worked out but not quite sure how. I was reading the thread about 2nd CPU and downloaded System Tuner and fired it up. I started playing with it, turned off a couple startup programs, froze some others, and selected to force all CPUs online under active tweaks. After rebooting, I now seem to have 4-5 bars consistently. Now if I can only get the email issue worked out. Is there an email program from google play that someone could recommend? I've about given up with the stock app.
Well I am about "-" This close to throwing this fricking thing at the wall and watching it break into a thousand pieces. Even though the data now is fine, the email issue is still here but worse now. I went and deleted all the emails to start from scratch again. I did this by going in to apps, finding the Mail app, force closing and clearing the cache and data. Doing a restart into recovery and wiping the cache and dalvik cache 3 times eac and then rebooting the phone. I was able to add my exchange account with 0 issues and 1 of my pop3 accounts ok. And Gmail does work but I have to use the Gmail app to see it. When trying to add my gmail account into the regular email app, I get a 504 gateway timeout error. The same goes for trying to add my MSN account and Yahoo account, same error. I even tried adding them as pop3 accounts and manually added all the settings but this fails as well. I did open my browser to make sure that the internet still works because of the 504 gateway error and it does still work. I don't know what to do....
well Mike,
I feel bad for you that you are having troubles.
Personally, I am went to the .10 leak a few weeks ago, and then rui'd to .12
I have no problems at all, and I use my 5 email accounts.
o signal bars - I never care. if it works then it works and there is no problem. don't sweat over signal bars.
o For Yahoo mail you must use the yahoo email app from the Google play store. this app will add the yahoo email account to the system. do not try to add the yahoo email account into settings-accounts nor into the regular email app, or you are asking for trouble and will get it.
o I have three gmail accounts. Add additional gmail accounts using the gmail app. adding it any other way creates major problems. One can easily use the gmail app to switch among the Gmail accounts. in settings-accounts each if your Gmail accounts should show up exactly one time with a white G blue background icon next to it. Delete any Gmail accounts you have made that have the red/white gmail app icon next to it.
o The regular email app is for POP3 and other conventional email. Believe me that there will be kaos if you manage to get the regular email app servicing gmail or other kinds of email accounts.
o Create a desktop folder with yahoo mail app, Gmail mail app, and regular mail app. When creating and sending emails use the correct app.
o when new emails arrive you will get notification. touch the notification and the correct app will start and display the email.
Few people have so many email accounts, but this is the best way to use them, in my opinion, on the rezound.
Relax a little, don't destroy the rezound, after all you can always sell it.

Howard
This might be a coincidence but after I ruu'd .12 from running .10 I didn't have 4G. I enabled one of the location services, VZ I believe, and bingo, my 4G popped up. I disable the location service and have had 4G running fine ever since.

I ended up doing just that last nite and downloaded the Hotmail app along with the Yahoo app. So far using each of those seperate apps and the Gmail app seem to be working fine. It was just a whole lot easier when I was able to use the stock email app to check all of my emails at once. The stock email app is supposed to allow you to add all kinds of email types and specifically shows Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo and a couple others as choices besides just regular pop3 ones. Its just strange because it worked very well before this and I didn't have to download those other apps to do it. . I know on GB it was fine along with the earlier leaks. I only started having problems on 3.14.605.5 but never tried 3.14.605.10.
I still overall really like this phone so I don't think I will destroy it. LOL

Yahoo, Gmail, Windows Live, Comcast, and AKO. I mainly use my yahoo and gmail but I'm not getting any emails from any of them.
I use the stock ROM (not rooted) so the emails are supposed to be pushed to the phone through the email engine (or whatever its called). I dont use any apps for my email.
For gmail : https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.gm
For yahoo : https://market.android.com/details?id=com.yahoo.mobile.client.android.mail
But you can go to settings->account and sync and just configure it there, should work fine..
I'm having this problem with email Push on my Atrix and Inspire, both running stock Gingerbread. I also have a Captivate running a leaked OEM Gingerbread rom, and it does NOT have this issue. My Atrix didn't have a problem with this until the OTA 2.3.4 update. What I believe I have found to be behind the problem is the way at&t's 4G network handles background data with Gingerbread. It's not maintaining a persistent connection for some reason, but my 3G Captivate has no problems.
Essentially, I blame the network. 4G background data delivery doesn't seem to be playing well with Gingerbread. When I switch to wifi, no problemo. Email pushes just fine. I even had an at&t store employee tell me that he was having problems with his work email on Exchange having massive delays on his Atrix.
Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck convincing customer support that this is the problem. No one has been able to help resolve this.
EDIT: I only have one gmail account running, and it's my primary email account. And yes, I have the gmail app installed and configured properly for notifications.
My wife got this phone over this past weekend. The stock email app is not updating. She never receives her new emails on her phone. So I downloaded k9 app and it worked the first day. Now it is not syncing with her yahoo email account and always says she doesn't have any new emails. She can login to her email on a computer and has several new emails a day. Any ideas?
Im assuming youve been through the basics? Making sure mobile data is on, settings are set correctly in the app for refresh times, background data enabled, no task killers/managers running, etc.
Check Settings / Accounts and make sure the account(s) are set to sync and that they're allowed to sync in the background.
Although this may not be the answer to your issue,I had a similar experience w/the G-MAIL app recently.I tried everything, including downgrading to an older version of it.
I consulted w/other users & compared settings.Mine were identical, but, still had to manually refresh to see the new mail in my inbox.
The only thing that resolved this issue was a factory reset.Works fine now.
Additionally, while having this issue,I was unable to access the DATA SAVER settings page. When I selected it,it would just flash,as if it were trying to open, but,no can do.
Weird thing is that I only messed w/these settings on one occasion, when the phone was new, just to check it out(no need to limit data on an unlimited plan, right?).
Anyway, after the factory reset, everything is back to normal.
Just goes to show there is no perfect phone,O/S,or app,100% of the time.
I recently solved a real pain of an email issue I was having, and wanted to pass along the experience. I had tried searching these forums for several days, but didn't quite find my problem, and didn't find the solution all in one place. With that in mind, I'm hoping this information helps someone, even if a bit of it may be covered in other threads (sorry if so).
I had upgraded recently to JB 4.1.1, and was having a lot of problems getting my corporate/exchange email account to work. The calendar and contacts would work sometimes, and the email never got past the "waiting for sync" screen. Anytime the calendar and contacts would work, they would break after a reboot of the phone.
I also found that sometimes exchange account would stick around after it stopped working, and other times it would disappear (from the Android settings > accounts list) completely. I had set the accounts up both through the stock email app, and through a third - party email app (Enhanced Email, a good app).
I tried deleting and recreating the accounts, with varying settings (port numbers, accepting all security certificates, etc.). Later on, I went to my company's online web access for Exchange, and deleted all the mobile connections so that it would create a new connection for my current phone and ROM. I recreated the account (for what seemed like the 50th time) after that. Still no good.
The thing that made the difference: I finally read a tip somewhere to force stop the (stock) email client, and clear its cache and data. After that, the email app needed to be set up again, but email synched for the first time since I installed this ROM, and my calendar and contacts work reliably. It's been several days and reboots, and no further problems have come up.
I hope this helps someone, and again, apologies if the information is duplicative. I couldn't find it all in one place, and was really beating my head against the wall trying to find a fix.

Hi there, I think im glad i found this thread although not sure it will help with my corporate mail problem. My problem exists only with contacts not syncing from my corporate exchange account. My mail and calendar is ok just no contacts sync.
You mention to force stop the stock email client, can you advise the steps and exact name of the process? Do you mean in manage apps - All - Email ? I cant seem to stop that process its all greyed out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, due to my role i really need my exchange contacts to sync.
Cheers,
Hi guys,
My experience is different.
If you have problems to sync your email you need to clear all previous mobile connections from outlook (via outlook web access) and set up your account from zero on the device.
Quick question why do you use a third party email client? Do you have Samsung device? Got the same problem and had to move to a asop (CM10)
Samsung email client and exchange doesn't work well since the original Galaxy.

solution for me
For me what solved was a solution I found in another post here in the forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774978&page=2
In summary:
"Settings --> Data Usage --> Menu --> and check Auto Sync Data
Try setting up Exchange account again and you'll see the prompt to activate a Device Administrator this time. "
Hi guys,
I just noticed recently that my DNA is giving me this error under accounts and sync. It seems like this may be a wide spread issue for all types of Android phones, but I was wondering if anyone else was seeing this. The strange this is that it looks like everything is synced properly, and even when I drill down into the actual items that are syncing, there are no errors. I'm not sure if it is the rom that I am on (UKB), but I would really like to clear it up if possible. I have tried deleting the data in Apps for the various items listed, but this does not seem to help. I even booted into recovery and cleared the cache, to no avail.
Thanks guys,
Steve
Alright, I just did a full wipe, installed UKB 1.3 with Cubed stock kernel, and I am still getting that sync error. Is anyone else seeing this?
I have had this issue on CODIS, UKB and the battery plus ROM
It syncs everything fine, but it does show a red sync icon and say its experiencing problems. I've just learned to deal with it as everything still works fine.
--removing and re-adding my google account does nothing
--unchecking each option (calendar, contacts, gmail etc.) one by one to see if a particular causes the problem,...does nothing to help
Just wanted to letyou know you are not the only one with the issue.
I'm having the issue where the gmail app syncs fine but if I read/delete emails and go back to my computer, all the changes I did on my phone didn't sync with my computer browser. Anyone know how to fix that?

I had that issue. Uninstalling and reinstalling gmail app from the market fixed it for me.

Ah, thanks for the replies guys. At least I'm not the only one . At least it's not in your face screaming at you, so I can learn to ignore it.
I'm having the sync issues myself, and I'm even on full stock ROM. Just wanted to let you know. My account is on two-step authentication - are other people also using two-step? Common denominator?

I believe that is the problem. I had an error in Google Internet sync. I fixed it by going to Google dashboard on my computer and clicking "Websites authorized to access the account." Go down to Application Specific Passwords.
Install the Google Authenticator on the DNA. Then register it by generating a new application specific 12 digit password. The Authenticator app will then generate the six digit codes you'll need when asked to be able to sync your bookmarks in the browser or sign in the Google search homepage. Anyway it worked for me.
For me it was Facebook calendar that couldn't sync. I unchecked it and the error went away. It looks like it can be any part of any of your accounts that will trigger that message. If you go into each one, it will show which one is having the problem.
Ever since I got the DNA at launch, all services that rely on communicating/syncing with Google will randomly cease until reboot, but I've only recently started digging into it. I'm currently S-OFF on Viper 1.2.0 with its included 2.04 OTA kernel from Verizon, butI've noticed this across multiple ROMs and 1.15 based kernels since stock. Like many others, I always had the "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly" error for my Google account. I had a thread up here, but with no response.
So far, all my thorough testing has been done only on Viper 1.2.0, and as a baseline, my initial flash of the ROM started with a full desense, and removing nearly all preloaded apps through aroma (including most of HTC's).
Basically, I ended up noticing that upon successful receipt of a calendar notification, my connection to Google would immediately drop, which seemed odd. Many fresh installs of Viper later, I noticed that keeping HTC Browser, Mail, Tasks, and Google Talk installed in aroma got rid of the sync error message (which was the first time since I bought the phone that I did NOT see it), while still able to do a full desense and remove most apps. With the error message gone, I have been unable to reproduce my issue anymore, but it hasn't been up and running long enough like this for me to call it solved.
I have been unable to find a fix while on pure stock or using any other 1.15 based kernel/ROM combo, even with all HTC and Google apps installed. It seems that the 2.04 OTA did something that helped this issue. I wanted to know if anyone else has noticed these or similar issues, and if so, hopefully we can figure it out, as I'd like to be able to get rid of these apps I don't use.
If you have a DNA with a Google account, please vote whether or not you have issues!
i've been having sync issues as well. any contact i add on the phone doesn't sync up to my google account. if i add it from the pc, it'll sync. also, the sync icon just stays there next to Contacts in the accounts & sync section.
i was trying to research it as well, and somebody else mentioned sync issues with their htc device. maybe its an htc issue? i don't know. definitely an annoyance though

I'm looking for a complete drop in communication to Google. However, from my research, I saw a few others with similar issues (only with contacts) who had a high success rate simply by going to Settings>Apps>All>Contacts Storage and press Clear Data. Once it resyncs, it should be fine. Worth a try if you haven't already.
I've tried that, but to no avail. Funny how Google sync has an issue on ANDROID! Lol

When you added those apps back in, did you try only keeping Google Talk? I have had sync issues before when I try uninstaling Talk, as well as being unable to use the Play Store. I was getting a message about "you must be able to connect to Google Talk in order to complete" Just a thought.
