Hello !
When I am recording a movie (with antishake off or on - is the same) camera is starting to refocus after every 3 seconds when I dont have moving persons/objects and even often when I have. So, my movies are useless (unlike my old iphone 4s which is recording perfectly). Is there any trick or settings to make it better or at least useful?
Thank you

I had to update my camera firmware manualy even after updating the phone to LG8
use *#7412365# to see if the Cam fw ver is the same as Phone fw ver. If the phone version is newer you can update using the Phone to Cam write (rear)
I dont have this problem, nor on stock rom or SuperNexus
based upon general opinion and a vast number of reviews of the camera including test pictures .I would return the phone under warranty with a faulty camera .

Definitely a problem with your unit.

Samsung GS3 camera - the worst I have ever had
I have the last firmware (LG8), camera fw version is the same as phone ver, you cannot choose autofocus to be on or off (in camera record mode) and this is not a problem with my unit (I was playing with a demo unit at samsung store - works the same as mine - and i have already read about this problem everywere, even in this forum).
So, do you think this is all I can get from this camera ?
Thank you

If you tap the screen while recording it will go to manual focus and it will stop the focus hunting every 3 seconds. A button wiill then appear to switch back to auto.

Is there any way to get video recording mode using the auto focus, which exists in no official or the rom.

No. AFAIK, Tegra 2 devices do not have that feature

Tks man. Is a problem this tegra 2.
atrix autofocus video
You say tegra-2 not support autofocus in video? But in camera illusion pro autofocus in video work fine. May be its a programm problem?
Are you know app videorecorder with this function?
Одг: auto focus and video recording
Interesting thing is that autofocus on video works perfect on leaked official ICS. The bad thing is I get screen tearing after a while so it's unusable for me.

Perhaps when mmonturi and krystianp are able to get the JB kernel working, we may have a working autofocus.
Hi, I've been using a number of ics roms since it was released and am currently on wanam v 12. I was wondering if anyone else has had a very slow response from the stock camera since moving to ics, never had any problems with gingerbread. The camera takes a picture normally but takes several seconds to finally respond and able to take another picture. Any advice?

Probably not the advice you're looking for, but try miui rom, specifically cmiui. The camera is really nippy on that one.
It may be a CM9 camera apk that's installed in cmiui. You could see if you could track down the apk on its own if you don't want to flash another rom.
And I know what you mean, every ics rom has given me bad lag with taking pics.

The GS2 doesn't have zero-shutter lag, but I am not experiencing a few seconds worth of lag as you are.
Try clearing data in App Info, which will hopefully fix your issue.
Try alternative cameras on the Play Store, namely Camera ICS.
Report back and tell me if that fixes anything.
Hey thanks for the advice! I cleared data on the app and is way faster now.

Hey I just bought my S3 and I recognized that my camera has got a failure.?
When I want to capture a video there is One Pixel which flickers white :/ Am I the only person who has this problem ?
This problem occurs when I want to record a video but when I capture a photo there's no white flickering Pixel.
Is this a warranty problem ?

There's nothing wrong in that screenshot, it seems to me that your screen has that problem.
Actually when you zoom WAY in there is something.
Try take it back.

I'll try. The resolution is very small ( the xda app Dosen't Support bigger pictures )
Don't worry about it, it's only one pixel.

I had the same problem. The only incident that I remember might cause this problem is that I rooted my mobile using the Samsung GS3 toolkit v1.0. I did that yesterday only. (See the firmware info attached). Since then, the camera app has same symptoms you mentioned and a dialog box: "Warning: Camera Failed" and a lovely "OK" button. (attached as well)
Any Hellllllllllllllllp???

Dears,
I was able to fix the camera problem. Thank God.
I installed the SGS3 International toolkit v 4.0, used the rooting options to re-root the phone (Flash insecure Boot Image and Root Phone), made sure that the Busybox is installed, then rebooted.
It went fine with me and the camera is working now. I am attaching the images of the Kernel version. May be the whole problem was with the ninphetamin3-1.1.0 that was used to set a higher clock speed? Not pretty sure.
Regards,
Khatypically.
Hello everyone,
I have just installed the Camera 4.2 APK (in zip via the recovery) but I cannot use it ...
If I launch the stock version of the camera I have no problem to take a picture (except somtimes with the flash as this often result to a greeny picture.)
BUT
with the amazing 4.2 Camera it is simply impossible to take a picture as the screen is 'White'. The buttons (function button) are accessible (but it is not possible to take a picture even if i hear the confirmation sound)...
Anyone has an idea on how to solve this ? or maybe am i using the wrong 4.2 camera ?
Please note that the gallery associated to that 4.2 Camera is also not working ... I have to use the stock one ...
Thank you in advance for your help;
Kind regards,
Scarymover
Sorry for my poor english
I have same prob and so do others. We just may not be able to use it. Camcorder doesn't work either. That's why I came back to gb though I love Epinters rom. Only app that's somewhat okay for video is videocam illusion.

Epinter doesn't have the Motorola drivers. I doubt there is going to be a fix for that.
Atrix seems to be bad from bad..... I don't want to change my phone I have bought 3 months ago... But as from now I'm really frustrated by this motofail device! Pffffff

I got used s2 and the photos look terrible, maybe a hardware issue? Front camera quality is good. Stock firmware.

Maybe you need to focus it!?! (Hold down the cspture button) And look for the settings about image quality.

It's focused and all the settings are maxed in quality, yet the picture looks like it's 1mp. You can see it's pixelated everywhere.

Took it apart, cleaned the lens. Recording quality is fine, same for camera free viewing around. After taking the photo quality seems drop in quality extremely. May try updating rom, camera firmware?
what firm are you?
if you are on the stock, try to reset settings in de camera app settings menu
or
downlaod a other camera app and test it if its is normal, if it isn't maybe hardware problems
I hope it helps
