I recently just updated my HTC 3D to the ICS rom by ViRuS.
I used the wire technique to get s-off from hboot 1.5 unlocked
previous i had a stock rom, all i did to root it was unlock it, install cwm recovery, then su.
also i had tried to do a OTA update and broke my root in the process.
after i used the wire technique and thinking i bricked my phone in the first attempt where i left my phone back cover on and had to unplug it then i tried to reboot the phone before plugging it back in(leading me to a screen that said juopunutbear making me think i bricked it) after fixing that and in the meantime installing a new stock rom with root after i had then went to attempt the wire method again, successfuly.
After achieving s-off i went through the steps dictated by virus
--first flashing the firmware without an insue, altho i did it twice anyhow.
----second doing a superwipe
------third installing the ICS rom linked in his post.
after google finished reinstalling apps, i replastered my phonewalls, and went through my settings i discovered i could send sms but i could not recieve them. google voice gets the messages but i am unable to recieve them on my phone. direct messeges to the phone aren't recieved either.
Has anyone else come across this?
Any idea what steps i could take?
i have looked about and not a mention of it.
-------------------------Update:--------------------------
I did some updates from the system settings and no avail
But when i went to activate this phone it brought me to the sprint zone where it tested the
voice and data connections, as soon as it told me i had voice connection i received all my
old texts and then data connection was approved.
happy to have my phone updated and working great!!!!!
Special thanks to ViRuS!
stopping here before i become considered a fanboy....

Error 16 is in the stickies. Try this:

Save the Drama for your Mama with Tapatalk 2
After realizing the error i did some
research and fixed both issues this
morning when customer care opened
Turns out sprint was blocking service
because of s-off.
Called them and they had me routed to someone who told me to reset my phone,
I did so and it works fine

I have viper 1.3 with silver needle kernel and some radio update I found. I tried updating profile and Pro but UFO try to call while roaming I get a message that my Verizon account cannot be verified. Any ideas? If I were to take it to the sprint store unrooted, would it be not tillable if they apply all the latest updates?

Please be more specific regarding what radio you flashed to your phone. That should give everyone a better idea as to what you need. Thanks!

You need to contact sprint, whether by phone, or via the internet (sprint chat) and tell them that you need an HLR reset. If they don't tell you to pull you battery (which is why sprint chat is easier), then they didn't do the HLR reset on their end. Updating radios, flashing new roms, won't help. This is something that was caused by using revolutionary, but a small price to pay for what it brings
So, THAT's the problem! ok! Wow! ive been flashing radios and all kinds of stuff! Thanks for the Help!
Thanks, I'll try that, good to know why it was caused. I didn't look up the radio since I didn't reinstall it when I tried flashing another ROM.
Unrelated but are the capacitive buttons always dimly lit on the stock a ROM? I don't remember.
I also can't get Green Hornet 3D to reinstall after viper removed it, I tried the vc interface in terminal emulator and titanium backup. Vc says cannot find app and I touted it exactly, with and without .APK, titanium backup just hangs on installing.

I'm going to try this when I get home. I've had the problem for a while now but didn't know it because I hardly ever try to make a call when I'm roaming. I called Sprint support last night because of the issue and she didn't mention anything that sounded like an HLR reset...hmmm.

Had that Exact issue!
If you get it again press 6 or whatever the option is that your given... It will redirect you to a Sprint operator that will ask you for you info and confirm that you experienced a T9 or T16 error, I believe mine was a T16 error? But from there they'll do something from their end and make you Remove your battery for about 15 mins. When I eventually powered back on the problem was Corrected!
GoodLuck!
I had sprint S-ON, HBOOT 1.5 and did the "wire Trick" to obtain S-OFF. from there I flashed a stock GB sprint RUU and went on to get the OTA for the ICS update.
well, after that I was unable to make or receive calls and texts. a radio error kept popping up. I eventually took it to a sprint corporate store and was talking with the guy and it suddenly started working. I told him what i had done to get where I was. i asked why it started working suddenly without doing anything. he pointed out a yellow box in his store, and said I probably didn't get a signed kernel. whenever someone walks in to those stores they apparently scan the kernel and if its not signed then it will sign in. im not sure if this could be helpful to anyone but as of now everything is working fine on my phone. just wanted to throw that out there to help anyone that was in my same scenario . if any developers would like to see what changed on my kernel i am more than happy to help in any way i can.

So, wait... you just walk in a store and your phone is auto scanned and repaired? Or did they take some form of action?
If this is true (not doubting your experience), what the hell happens when u are on a non stock kernel that's not signed? I don't expect an answer, just thinking out loud really. Thanks for the info!

No action was taken. My phone was was not sending or recieveing texts and no calls all night and into the morning (i was hoping it was going to fix itself over night like a network issue as I have read on some other forums). The guy pointed out this yellow box the size of a. Router and told me that story. Whether its true or not I couldn't tell ya. Then when waiting for him to stop talking to other people I got bombarded with past texts from the night before

I really don't know. He said the ruu I flashed must not have jar a signed kernel or my kernel didn't transpire from the old ruu and that was why I was having those network errors pop up whenever I sent a text.
Well my kernel is here for developers to look at if it could help anything

Its never a good idea to be so biased and fanboyish to automatically call this BS. However it is very very unlikely, for a few reasons;
The XDA/android dev community is so large, that we almost definitely have an active member of the forums that is a sprint employee that would have some knowledge of this magical yellow router.
Without them delivering an OTA to your phone while your standing there in the Sprint store, they would need to place your phone into bootloader mode. This is something that would be very obvious, and not something they would do without warning you to backup all of your files, and data, as well as possibly having the phone overnight.
To repair your issue, they would probably run a backup of your data, flash the stock RUU of the latest OTA, and then restore your data.
But.... you never know, right?
Like McDonald's old catch phrase -- "Do you believe in magic!?"
My phone was S-OFF with BAMF 2.27 bootloader, and AOKP 1.8 with Funky Kernel 1.7, newest Radios (2.22 or whatever).
Dec 12, I installed JB MIUI from a link siulmagic posted on twitter, upon boot I couldn't text or make calls. Made sense, siulmagic doesn't always support cdma, I restored my backup to AOKP and booted up. Still didn't have data. I was a little confused, did a full wipe of data, cache, system, and boot. Installed AOKP 1.8 clean, booted up, no data, I had 3 bars but it was roaming and I couldn't send or receive calls or texts. It was 2am, finals week, went to bed.
Next morning download I downloaded a full RUU (4.03.605.1) from android police
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ull-ruu-build-4-03-605-2-for-the-htc-rezound/
and flashed it. It did bootloader, system, radios, like 16 different things. It finished, booted back up into sense which I hadn't seen in months, still roaming! Gave up for 2 days.
Friday I called Verizon (using my cell phone, it could call *611 but no other numbers), they put in a ticket for their network team, this afternoon got a call (to a different number) saying everything was fixed (it was not). However now my phone wouldn't even dial *611, it couldn't dial anything. All phone requests sat at dialing forever (they used to be answered by verizon saying they couldn't connect me). After about an hour on the phone and dialing many weird numbers, *920, #832, 4 battery pulls, reading all the numbers of my phone, I got connected through to HTC because I was still under their warranty. End result, I was going to ship in my phone to have it repaired by HTC.
Means I need to S-ON right?
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
Boot up...everything works.
I can send/receive texts, calls, it all works.
Does anybody have any idea why? My only thought is that some of the changes Verizon made finally kicked in? Writing a flag in the bootloader couldn't possibly effect that right? Android can't even see that stuff once booted!

You had to flash a cdma patch first. You'll have to do a factory reset from bootloader to fix it.

Thanks for the response, but I'm not sure you read my whole post. I did a factory reset, as well as a full RUU flash from the bootloader. None of that fixed it. Also the device is now working again as I mentioned in the post, however the only change I made within 3 whole days of the device working again was switching from S-OFF to S-ON.

You could try this, it got my data back.
Try to set your active profile to 1.
Go to phone, type ##3282#, enter msl for password, go to data profile and switch it to 1, hit menu- commit modifications, phone will reboot and hopefully you will have data again.

I found out what it was. Someone else has put a different phone on my account by activating it somewhere else, not sure how. It replaced it on my device list from Sprint with a different phone. Called them and got everything settled out and its working fine now. They are having their security team look into it cause its possible someone was trying to steal my service. Who knows but at least its working now.

Verizon & HTC patched the current SunShine temproot with this update, however we have a downgrade path.
If you are on 1.85.605.9 you can downgrade to 1.85.605.8
If you need this RUU from @dottat - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862670562
To flash the RUU, two methods exist. This should not wipe data, but always backup your data just in case. Again back up your data.
Method 1: (preferred)
Rename the file 2PS6IMG.zip (it is .zip, not .zip.zip, check to see if your os hides the file extension).
place the file on a sdcard, put sdcard into the follow and reboot to download mode using adb (adb reboot download) and follow on screen directions
Method 2:
Reboot the phone into download mode with "adb reboot download"
Use htc_fastboot (not the google version of fastboot) reboot the phone to RUU mode "htc_fastboot oem rebootRUU"
Then flash the zip
"htc_fastboot flash zip 2PS6IMG_PERFUME[email protected]60722.2_CNV_0.93_002_release_486126_signed_1.zip"
Thanks

Thanks man those files were what i needed. I also had something wrong either the name when flashing or the file was not in the right location. I added the .zip to the command and also moved the file into the fastboot folder not sure which one worked but i am currently "optimizing apps" and ill let you know what version it is when the phone finishes.
HA! you guys rock 1.85.605.8. Thanks to both of you sunshine passed when it used to fail. Thanks man for the help.
For some reason the advanced calling features no longer work every time I am on a call it drops to 1x
Edit:I swear I'm not a complete idiot but the advanced calling seems to work fine earlier today it was not working but I just checked in the exact same place and it is working now so I do not know exactly what was going on but it seems to be working now I'm going to S off when I get home. Thanks again for this downgrade
I currently need to send my HTC 10 in for repairs on the charging port/battery charging issues I'm having and I have a concern. Quick and yes maybe for sure "noobish" question.. Feb 17th VZW is disconnecting this line. (unlimited data plan) and my htc 10 is only 17% paid off. Obviously the first thing I did when I got this phone as well as my M8 was you sunshine. (unlocked/s-off) Now for noobish sake does this mean VZW cannot possibly anyway block my phone or IMEI or Blacklist so I would be unable to stick another carrier SIM card in and use my device with them? You know, bring your own device, byod? I never thought I'd be in this situation but I'm kind of freaking out so thanks for your understanding, thank you..

I put it in these words because when I add up to the HTC 10 nothing at all was ever mentioned about ganking my account and leaving me with an unpaid device that I could not use unless I surrender to them and use the limited g*y data plans. So I just figured if they wanted to be bullies it would be pretty sweet for me if they try to lock my phone or Blacklist it and they couldn't. Thanks again

They can't do that to your device, it would be illegal. You can bring it to any carrier also. Sticking to stock Verizon rom will get you a pop up saying sim is not from Verizon but everything should function.
You could really stick it to them and fully convert your phone to us unlocked after you switch and no more sim pop up and completely Verizon-less system/firmware, that's probably way to go anyways if switch carriers

Cool, thank you for the confirmation. Tomorrow I am speaking with Stephanie B. A supposed VZW executive. I only average to 241 gigabytes a month, I was never made aware of a 200 gigabyte cap so I'm going to see what I can do about keeping it open but I also have a second line that is also unlimited data which they don't care about at this time because it doesn't come close to 200 gigabytes a month so I think I might have some wiggle room but I don't know. I just wanted to express to her my main concern is the fact I was never made aware about what happened over 200 gigabyte cap and also we as their customers we're never given a questionnaire or survey as far as the 1% of their customers who have unlimited data goes what should happen to us as far as going over 200 gigabytes is concerned. I doubt anything will happen that's not going to already but I'll let you know if I get to keep my line. Thanks again

I just got mine back. Took to Verizon a complete brick. I've only had 4 months. Finally got the new one in mail
About to downgrade and use sunshine and yes it has to be paid for again. Geesh these 10's are much more fragile than my old m8 . First device I've ever bricked. Now I didn't have to pay anything for replacement to be sent. I know people personally there though
Good luck and happy flashing

Just wanted to say thanks for this. Got my replacement in the mail after a brick. Immediately before reading the latest ota blocked sunshine from working. I took ota and set up device. Searched & downloaded your linked file : renamed and moved to SD card. Here is where it got strange. Battery over 50% mind u. Ran first time failed near the end. Left device useless. Tried to run again after booting back to download mode. Failed again. Only to boot device into white HTC screen. Well after about an hour of trying to figure out a way out the hole I've dug again, because PC will not recognize phone like this. And I could not fastboot said file. Anyhow after about another hour I tried again. And finally the same thing loaded everything properly and finished without an error. So successfully downgraded firmware so I could run ☀ . Ran sunshine and am s-off,now.and all is well. Any understanding why it would fail twice then work. Same method.?

Well after about an hour of trying to figure out a way out the hole I've dug again, because PC will not recognize phone like this. And I could not fastboot said file. Anyhow after about another hour I tried again. And finally the same thing loaded everything properly and finished without an error. So successfully downgraded firmware so I could run ☀ . Ran sunshine and am s-off,now.and all is well. Any understanding why it would fail twice then work. Same method.?
