I just sbf'd to 1FF-sunfire-user-2.3.4-4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_7-CM-release-keys-signed-Sprint-US
and now I cannot get into rsd mode or fastboot, with the key combo's just stuck at dual core screen, finished successfully.. I don't know why..
Alright reflashed the 198_7 again, and getting the same thing again, is there a way to fix this? mind you I flashed sbf after unlocking bootloader.
so now I cannot get into fastboot, or rsd mode.

Pull your battery and give it a few minuntes. Then place the battery back in and try again.
Instructions if your having trouble still.
The gist is you will want to use RSD light have the SBF file and then flash it . Make sure battery is greater than 50 percent charged.
1) Fire off RSD lite, select the SBF you need 198_7 or 198_6 either or.
2) Hold down power and vol up till RSD mode comes up
3) Plug into usb then start the flashing sequence.. ( the whole process will take a while)
4) The process is done when RSD lite says manually power up the phone.. You may need to take the back off and pull the battery to restart it incase it doesnt power up on its own.
---------- Post added at 03:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:01 PM ----------
May be a hunch but it is possible you may need to do a wipe and data reset before flashing the sbf... Remember reading somewhere this helped for someone having trouble flashing an sbf with RSD...
instructions if you need.
1) Power off phone holding Power and volume down button
2) Screen will come up with "Fastboot" press Volume down and cycle through till you get "Android Recovery" Press Volume up to select it
3) Wait for the Triangle / Android
4) Press both Volume up and volume down ... A menu will pop up..
5) Press volume down and select "Wipe Partition" by pressing power button to select it.
6) Tap volume down to select "wipe data/Factory reset" again tap power key toselct.
Once done tap power key when done using the "reboot system now"
Sometimes you may need to flash 154 before flashing 198

I just sat there and let it boot up, took 25 minutes for it to finally start.
Guys, I'm in need of guidance...
All I did was install CWM Recovery from ROM Manager, and selected the reboot into CWM option. After the reboot, I received this:
Failed to boot 2
Starting RSD mode
And I can't get out of it. Nothing happens, it's completely frozen.
I am aware there are a few similar threads, but the OPs somehow get into fastboot and pull themselves up from there usually by unlocking the bootloader, I can't get into fastboot.
In fact, the only way I can get it to power off is to pull the battery - holding the power button fails. Each reboot returns me to the same error. If I reboot with the battery out and the cable in mains power, I get an extra message "Battery is too low to flash", but it is still frozen. I've tried just battery, battery and cable in laptop usb holding the power and vol down keys to no avail (am I doing it wrong?)
What options do I have? Thanks
Did you root and unlock your bootloader?
It also sounds like you were playing around on a dead battery or drained it trying to troubleshoot. A desktop charger may be your first step.
My phone was rooted but I don't believe my bootloader was unlocked which I'm guessing is the problem.
I'm now considering flashing it with a full 2.3.4 SBF. Flashing appears to be my only real option, plus my intention with CWM was to get 2.3.4 in the first place.
Do you see any issues with this?
Since you dident unlock....ya you are stuck. SBf is only option I know of now. Just be careful....read the sticky guide just to be safe. Unlock first next time.
Flash a 2.3.4 (or 2.3.6 if u preferred) SBF through RSD Lite, then follow this procedure,
1. flash pudding to unlock
2. flash RAMFix
3. Flash CWM Recovery
4. (optional) PDS partition fix if u encounter any irregular touch screen issues.
then, you're good to go for any Mods out there. Good luck dude!
Thanks guys. In the end I flashed a 2.3.4 pudding/preinstall root sbf and then unlocked it first before doing CWM this time
Bit of a nervy flash as I knew my battery was low but wasn't sure how low
I had tried to flash the stock webtop on my atrix 4g, after i had done the webtop mod(due to the screen presses from the phone would not work, and it also would not allow me to have the normal functionality and so i wanted to go back to stock for webtop). Not too sure if I'm able to post the link to where i found the instructions, but i did get it from atrix forums.
But pretty much now, when i turn my phone on, it gets stuck on the Motorola screen with text saying...
Failed to boot 4
Starting RSD Mode
I did read up and saw that from my POV, the best thing would be to get the stock sbf and use RSD Lite and flash it back to the beginning. But a few things do come up,
I found a thread in XDA where it had all the sbf i could want, but they were uploaded into filesonic which will not let me download it.
Would this be the only option for me to go?
Also some background into phone, AT&T Atrix 4g, was running 2.3.4, firmware 4.5.91 and was rooted. Any enlightenment on my pridicament would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time in reading.
First, did you have an unlocked bootloader?
If not, that's your problem.
Second, is there an option to get into recovery?
If so, try to perform a "Factory Reset" within the recovery before trying to use RSD lite (not recommended).

unlocked bootloader, that would be a negative. I guess that was what happened as to why i'm in this situation. But trying to get it back to factory settings, when i turn on the phone and hold down power button and vol down, it shows the Motorolla screen, i keep holding it down...it never shows the option for fast boot or the menu to change to be able to get it back to factory. Unless I'm doing it wrong, but it goes to Motorola screen then waits a bit and then screen turns off. Any ideas? If RSD Lite is not recommended, what's a good try to take? thanks for replying back quite fast.
Just to confirm the steps:
1. Press and hold the volume down button
2. Then press the power button (note: you don't need to continue holding the power button when doing this)
3. Continue holding the volume down button until it says "Fastboot"
If that's what you did then that would be correct. Actually, try just booting it normally and see if it gives you any options while booting.

When I let it boot up without pressing anything, it just says
"Failed to boot 4"
"Starting RSD mode"
When i hold down vol down button for a bit nothing. I did notice though if i press the vol down button directly after i get "failed to boot 4" it blinks something real quick and then the screen goes black(which then i would have to take out the battery and put the batter back in). ...but what flashes, i believes says nvflash.
If i press volume up button after it says "Failed to boot 4" it gives me..
"Starting Fastboot protocal support"
So with no touch, "Starting RSD mode".
Vol down, I think it says nvflash
Vol up, Starting fastboot protocal support.
Well, when it says "Starting Fastboot protocol support" it means it is in fastboot but I don't know for sure what you could do from other than "fastboot -w" which would erase userdata and cache. Do you have the fastboot files? Have you thought about trying to flash Pudding if you can get it into RSD mode? You could then flash a custom recovery in fastboot from that point and either try to factory reset or flash a custom rom/fruitcake.

So what are the chances of me getting a hard brick if i did the RSD Lite as what was proposed in other occurences?
Also with pudding, do I need anything done special on the phone...unlock bootloader or anything else? just want to make sure, since i don't want to be in this situation again or worse lol.
Also, what do you mean by if i have the fastboot files? such as the ones i used to root the phone?
There's really no measurement of risk for using RSD lite. If used properly it should go without a hitch but there have been "rare" occurrences of things going wrong. If you can find the correct sbf(2.3.4-4.5.91 signed) and download the current RSD then you should be fine
Pudding is the unlocked bootloader.
Fastboot files is what is needed to give commands in fastboot mode. (eg. "fastboot.exe")

is it that hard to find a signed sbf for 2.3.4 4.5.91 at&t?
Also, what would be the benefits of going the pudding way versus if i just attempt the rsd way?
which one is safer? lol
Pudding, in a sense, is safer as it will unlock your bootloader and you can flash ROMs all day with a custom recovery but it would help to have the appropriate knowledge before diving in. You mentioned you had rooted your phone but what else, as far as modding, are you familiar with?
I actually tried to find an sbf to link to for you but couldn't find one.

Just in case someone else get's this error.
I used this sbf. at&t signed 2.3.4 4.5.91
http://www.4shared.com/archive/viniGE9x/1FF-olympus-user-234-4591-1106.html
and RSD Lite v5.6
From there when phone got to the motorola screen and said
"Failed to boot 4"
"Starting RSD Mode"
ran RSD with the sbf, it went through it's thing and it worked. it did revert everything that was done when the phone was rooted, and there is no root.
BTW, thanks for the help live4nyy!

My photon is stuck in a loop while booting thru the initial Motorola splash screen. Here is what happened:
- was running MIUI v4 by Th3Bill (standard install)
- wanted to upgrade and during that change to the Aroma installer
- did a factory reset (full, had USB debugging enabled. After the factory reset it booted back into "virgin" MIUI
- used RSDlite to flash 154_5 sfb, all seemed well (had "repaired" Motorola drivers before)
- removed battery, let sit for a minute or so, inserted, turned on and got the Motorola splash screen loop.
- I am able to get into RSD mode, so I tried installing 198_7 sfb, with same result.
- went into Fastboor, select Android Recovery: it gives me a screen with the Android robot and a little attention sign
Where to go from here?? Please help!
BTW, am a bit new to this ... if you could please elaborate on your advice a bit. Thanks :fingers-crossed:
Well you could go into fastboot. Erase system then enter rsd and flash your sbf. Or unlock via rsd install cwm via fastboot enter cwm format system data and cache then rsd and flash sbf.

What option in fastboot allows me to erase the system, I have
NvFlash
BP HW Bypass RSD
BP HW Bypass QC DLOAD
BP HW Diag & Boot AP
BP HW Bypass BP Only
BP SW Bypass RSD
Android Recovery (Note: which isn't working anymore)
Boot Android (No BP)
Device UID
console=tty50,115200n8
Early USB enumeration
BP Tools
RSD
And once I get there is there a sub-menu or commands I need to use?
I'm gonna have to try this tonight EST after work, and will report back (or ask more q's). Thanks so much for your help!
You have to use moto-fastboot on the pc while the phone is in fastboot mode.

You may also try one more route.
After getting into Android Recovery, when you see the Android with the yellow triangle, press Vol Up and Vol Dn at the same time. You will get options. Wipe data & cache. You should be able to boot up fine after that.

Are you talking abiout the method "Relocking without Full SBF flash" described in the Lokifish Marz Photon Compendum?
If so is the file stock_recovery.smg part of the Moto-Fastboot installation, or where can I find it? The link provided at the2dcour's [PUDDING] Photon/Electrify Pudding bootloader unlock post is dead
I found the nopudding4u.sbf file in the Shabbypengiun post on ACS.

That worked!! You saved my sorry butt, thank you so much!!
Edit: I just tried to get into Android Recovery and realized i still get the yellow triangle warning. Does this mean I lost Stock Recovery? What to do? Can i get it back when flashing 154_5 again? I might need it if I take the phone to Sprint for any repairs later on. BTW: the phone boots and functions fine otherwise except I can't get unlocked.
Thoughts?
Hi there guys, first of all thank you all so much for the support here.
I have a problem with my atrix, i googled a lot before posting, but i still can't find a solution:
I have a atrix 4G, unlocked, was running successfully neutrino 2,8 version.
After 2 months of being (almost) fully functional, the phone crashed(i didn't do anything particular at that time, i think that i was browsing google maps) suddenly and now i have continuous boot loop, i get only the classic red dual core logo, with the "unlocked" notification over it, and then after 10-15 sec it reboots.
I try to open it with holding volume down, to enter recovery, nothing happens. It reboots again. The computer doesn't see it, in this case.
I reboot it with holding volume up, says "starting RSD protocol suppport", and pc sees it and i get the cling-clong sound of usb.
I would do the recovery using rsd, but i read that it is not for unlocked devices, is this so? What can i do in this case? Thanks a lot!!!

flasing a recovery is done via fastboot so you don't have to enter recovery but fastboot (hold power and volume down till it shows fastboot, then press up) .

hello i had this problem yesterday, it happens in neutrino rom to alot of people!
and btw i could not open recovery either
ill explain what i had to do
i had to use moto-fastboot and install a new recovery, basically your recovery is dead and your rom is unbootable
heres the steps
download the moto drivers and install
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1381183&d=1349549067
then download the motofastboot zip http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1381414&d=1349555102
and create a new folder in C: (computer) called Android and then drag the files from the moto zip into android
Then download a new recovery http://www.mediafire.com/?6ww8wrjrdqq9m97
place the recovery.img into the android folder
now you have all the files needed to reflash your new recovery and fix your phone the whole idea is to reinstall recovery so you can access it and wipe and install the rom fresh again
now you need to do these steps
1) Attach your phone to the PC via USB (use a port closest to the power supply)
2) Reboot phone while holding volume down until you see "fastboot"
3) Press volume up to initiate fastboot
4) On your PC click the Start menu, then in the search box type "cmd"
5) In the command prompt type the following commands (no quotes, hit enter after each command)
6a) "cd c:/android"
6b) "moto-fastboot devices"
your CMD promt should show something like this
C:\Users\Me>cd c:/android
c:\Android>fastboot devices
TA20703SX9 fastboot
c:\Android>
now if that has all worked type the following phrases
moto-fastboot erase recovery
moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.4-maguro.img
moto-fastboot reboot
now the phone should reboot, unplug the usb and pull battery out.
put battery back in and then try to boot into recovery like you normally would (power button + Vol Down)
and your new recovery should load!
from here you can wipe your whole system which i would reccomended as your current one is corrupt and install a new rom or reflash your current on onto a clean wipe. if you dont understand how to clean wipe do all of these steps, factory reset, clear cache, clean dalvik cache then go to mounts > storage and format data + format cache + format system
now install new rom and let it boot up, should bootloop a couple of times then start! if not unplug battery from phone and ask for further assitance

Thank you for your help, the problem is exactly here, i put on the usb, i power up the phone by pressing the volume down, and the phone does nothing, doesn't show the fastboot, and after 10-15 secs starts rebooting again. This is my problem!
The only response from my phone is when powering up, and pressing the volume up, it says "starting rsd protocol support"
Is there any case that my volume down is dead?

then hold power button and vol down at the same time for a few seconds
Fastboot should appear in white writing then press up volume and it should say starting rsd protocal or something similiar
then plug in usb and follow the steps i have written above
i do exactly what you said, but doesn't show fastboot. from switched off, if i press volume up with power button, i see the message "starting rsd protocol support" .but no fastboot option!

When i start up phone, the only combination possible to stop restarting is by pressing power+vol up to show that with RSD. There is no other option then selectable. Power + volume down does not work, doesn't show anything, has anyone of you experienced this thing?
If the only working option you have is RSD, then I'm afraid you're stuck with having to flash a stock SBF. I hope you know/remember exactly what stock version you had installed before any modding or flashing, because the SBF has to match exactly. Choose wisely and read up as much as you can before flashing.
I have over a year now with custom roms, and i can't remember which version i had. Why do i have to find exactly the version that i had? The latest stock version won't work with rsd? It will make it hard brick? If i manage at least to recover the fastboot menus etc it would be great!
I will later also try to open it, to see if the side button "volume down" is not working,.
I have another question, in your moto atrix, if you press on startup power+vol up, are you also seeing the "starting RSD" etc option??

Yes, flashing a wrong SBF will most likely hardbrick your device.

Can't try right now, but as far as I know, yes, that is a standard way to enter RSD mode.
thank you, so, i know that at least my phone responds to some instructions.
Is there anyone else to suggest me to do anything else?
IN rsd mode, (other than flashing a stock random rom with chance of hardbricking,)the phone can be read by usb, can i do anything there?

Sadly no. The RSD mode can only ever be used to flash SBFs. That's it. Nothing less, nothing more.
I will now try to open it to see if vol down is not working well. If it does work, i will select a stock rom 1 year old and i will flash it using rsd, and whatever happens....:good:
I disassembled the phone, the button seems to operate fine(?).
I flashed with RSDlite the 2.3.6 version, the RSD stuck to waiting for phone to restart.
The phone restarted, the "unlocked" logo disappeared.
Starts normally, passes the red motorola logo, shows the graphic of AT&T, and after ~10sec starts restarting again. Bootloop again!
At boot, pressing power+vol up, i can still get the RSD support. Pressing power+vol down does nothing, I don't see any error messages, like the ones in hard brick.
What can i do now, any ideas please!!!
try this

Yesterday I had a hard time getting my phone into fastboot mode, after loading a bad SV kernel,it only wanted to start the RSD protocol mode. I eventually got into fastboot by plugging into the wall charger, then removing and installing the battery while holding the vol button. When fastboot appears, unplug the charger to allow sd access.
Thanks for the suggestion, i tried even this,it didn't work. The funny thing is that it shows the battery charging level full screen if i connect the charger, as it starts.
I noticed also that when i press vol down now, it takes longer to start and continue to the moving red logo, it stays for a while stable red, feels like it is thinking whether to start or not lol (if i don't press vol down, on the power up the red moto logo immediately starts the classic "waving" effects)
Anyone having any kind of suggestion?I guess you don't, right?
