CM9 instalation problem STATUS 7 - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

I have a problem with instalation of CM9 on my SE Wt19i.
I downloaded .zip file to my sdcard, restarted phone and get to recovery, then I performed factory reset, wiped cache/ dalvik cache. Then I found cm9.zip file in my sdcard and tryied to flash it but after a few seconds I get error writing "Status 7".
What is this? How to fix it? I really want to try stable cm9...

[Q] "Can't mount /dev/block/vold/179:9"

I was attempting to flash clockworkmod and I am now stuck in recovery. Attempting to reboot does nothing, I did a factory reset. Applying update.zip just gives me the error in the title of this thread, plus "can't mount update.zip"
I see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782204 as a last option but is there anything else I can do? If I remove my sd card and put a new update.zip on it manually, will this fix the problem?
ok a few things first.
1)which CWM did you install?
2)Which Rom are you trying to install?
if you have the rom on your sd card simply factory rest, wipe cache, and dalvik cash......
then without rebooting flash zip from sdcard [navigate to and flash your rom]
then reboot.
you shouldn't need the apply update zip
if that doesn't work odin a stock image and start all over again

I'm not sure which version, the file only says "cwmrecovery.tar"
I'm trying to install CyanogenMod 7.1
Can you explain a little more regarding wiping cache and dalvik cache, and also how to flash the rom without using any application. I only have access to "reboot system now", "apply sdcard:update.zip", "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition" as of right now
EDIT: Clockworkmod recovery is not functioning, if that was not clear.
Follow this guide for installing mtd roms such as cm7, aosp, miui...Just replace vgb rom with cm7.

[Q] Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure when trying to Wipe Data

Hey folks,
I've recently tried installing the latest version of the Siyah kernel (I had CL-Root before that).
I installed the Kernel from the zip on my sdcard,
after that I went to the main CWM menu and chose Wipe Data/Factory Reset on the menu,
everything went smooth until the following line:
Code:
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
I tried rebooting afterwards and went into a bootloop.
I re-installed the previous ROM I had using ODIN (this re-installed CL-Root which came with the ROM again) and tried rebooting, and again - bootloop.
I entered CWM again, and again chose Wipe Data/Factory Reset, and got the same error as above, but this time, after I rebooted, the O/S went up just fine...
Has anyone ever bumped into this? I really want to upgrade my kernel to Siyah, how can I do that without having this problem again?
Thanks!
hey m8 did u get any thing to solve this problem ? i have the exakt same in my Galaxy Note, really enojing
It may be an Odin file.
ive had that. try flashing a siyah 2.6.8 kernal when you bootloop via ODIN. so if it boot loops. dont wipe again. put it in download mode and flash the siyah .tar

[Q] Stock recovery wipe data vs. CWM recovery wipe data

Hi guys,
A quick question.. I had some issues after installing Batista 0.5 ICS, meaning that in CWM Recovery, when I tried to wipe data/factory reset i got "Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure". So I flashed stock LPQ, and went back in Recovery, and tried agan the wipe data/factory reset, and it only displayed "Formatting Complete".
Now my question is, does CWM wipe data does something more than stock recovery wipe data?
If not, can you guys help me to stop receiving that error message in CWM?
Thanks alot for your help!
Cheers

NO its the same .
CWM gives additional wipe and format options .
Error message could be wrong /faulty firmware flash or likewise wrong CWM .
Flash rom again .
Basics of CWM are of course in the stickies .

Thanks JJE! I've tried all manner of CWM installs. Even went back to 2.3.6 KL1, so that i could install its respective CF Root kernel (along with an older version of CWM). But still the same issue appears. However, i found a "recovery kernel", that i think could help with my issue, but i'm not sure if i should flash it, since LPQ is 4.0.3 and that kernel says it's 4.0.2 (gt-i9100_clockworkmod-recovery_4.0.0.2.tar).
Is that safe to flash over 4.0.3 LPQ?
Thanks again!
Anyone? Am I alone in my little thread?
Echo, echo, echo...
You should be able to flash a 4.0.2 kernel over 4.0.3 no problems. Obviously backup first (Nandroid backup, Titanium backup, etc, etc). If something weird like the phone not booting happens, you could try flashing the original kernel again & see if you get CWM back & then restore your backup. Or at worst you might need to flash a stock rom in Odin, CFRoot again then restore your backup.
Obviously if you're having problems like that, as JJE suggested it might be a somehow incomplete flash of the rom in the first instance. It might even be worth trying a clean reinstall of the rom. Have you asked in the thread devoted to the rom if other users have had the same problem ?

On which Firmaware are you now?
as you told in your first post "So I flashed stock LPQ, and went back in Recovery, and tried agan the wipe data/factory reset, and it only displayed "Formatting Complete".
that is what actually required to happen " "Formatting Complete". because it will not take more time since it is fresh rom there is nothing to format any user data..
when is your error reappearing?
Thanks Mistah,
I did try Odin installing the stock LPQ and then CF Root > error message. Then I tried Odin installing 2.3.6 KL1 and then CF Root > error message. However, in stock recovery, i didn't get any error message. It says the formatting is complete, so that must mean that it was able to format succesfully. In CWM recovery, however, if i try to wipe data, i get the "Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure" message. "Skipping format" and so on..
What do you mean by a clean install?
Thanks Zaheed,
The error comes after i flash CF Root (on either LPQ ICS, or KL1 GB), and from CWM recovery i select wipe data/factory reset.
Formatting /data...
Formatting /cache...
Formatting /sd-ext...
Formatting /sdcard/.android_secure...
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
skipping format...
Data wipe complete.
In Show Log (from CWM Recovery) it says the following:
Formatting /sd-ext
Formatting /sdcard/.android_secure...
I:Formatting unknown device.
W:Failed to mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 (No such file or directory)
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
Skipping format...
Data wipe complete.
Now I'm on stock LPQ downloaded from sammobile, the Open Europe version.
Any thoughts?
Thanks again for your time, guys!
By 'clean' install I mean format cache, data, system, & sd card then do an Odin install.

I think you dont want to worry about this error, after this wipe are you able to boot into the ROM? were your all apps and user data wiped? then no need to worry...
once again make sure are you selecting the correct matching CF-root for your ROM..
another option : I tried before when I got an error in my CWM was, I downloaded ROM manager (i did not concern to donate the silly bucks to Koush) and flashed the latest touch recovery (note: this will work only with ROM manager, not with CWM Manager)
and selected reboot into CWM from Rom Manager, then it will temporerly flash the touch recovery on your recovery partition, all options in that was working like a charm,
But when you select reboot into from anywhere else, or with Vol-up+Home+power you will be booted into your current custom recovery which was flashed along with the kernel.
regards
When i wipe data/factory reset from stock recovery, the image of Android comes up and that blue interrupted line at the bottom, and yes, the apps and settings are reset. However, in CWM recovery, when i wipe data/factory reset, that image of Android is somehow corrupted, with 3 blue interrupted lines showing up, but no animation. Even so, the apps and settings are reset.
So i'm thinking it has to do with recovery partition.
Anyway, I'll try your suggestion later on, as i'm at work now.
Thanks again, Zaheed! Guys..
Much appreciated!

[ISSUE/WORKAROUND]Strange Problem while flashing a ROM from CWM Recovery

I'm currently getting strange issue while flashing ROM from CWM recovery and in process of finding solution for the same. Meanwhile, I thought it would be better to create a thread so that anyone else who has same issue as me will find it useful or someone who has solution can guide me.
Phone Details
S2 with 32GB Class 4 memory card
Issue Description/Repro Steps
Issue started when I moved from CheckROM v6(GB-Siyah 2.6.1) to I9100DXLP9 (4.0.3).
Steps:
1) Flashed DXLP9 through ODIN(went smoothly), rooted with CF root v5.4 given in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487 thread.
2) Used Triangle away to reset binary counter
3) Rebooted in recovery, wiped data/cache/dalvik cache, now while wiping dalvik cache I got an error E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext], but dalvik cache got wiped.
4) Now flashed Foxhound ICS ROM and rebooted.
5) Bootloop
6) Again repeated Steps 1-3
7) Now flashed Hydrogen ICS 4.0.4 and reboored..still bootloop
8) went to download mode, Repeated steps 1-3 again
9) Now, decided to investigate this issue little in detail and noticed that while wiping data partition through CWM was giving this error:
Failed to mount /data/.android_secure
So, this was the culprit, if data partition isn't getting wiped that means CWM is not able to write on it either but ODIN is
10) So, to experiment flashed Hydrogen ICS through CWM -> rebooted phone -> checked that bootloop was still there -> put phone in download mode and Flashed Siyah 3.1.2
11) Voila!!!! phone booted successfully with Hydrogen ICS ROM, also strangely binary counter was not increased
But Step 11 is still a workaround for ROM flashing issue, I still need to flash kernel separately after flashing ROM.
Any suggestions/questions are most welcome
Hoping to resolve this issue soon!!!
Try this:
1 Wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik,
2 Install from sd card in CWM this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363738.
3 Install the rom.
You may have to format /system by going under "mount and storage"

Reflash a CWM and Root Kernel should have been the next step
same problem format cache system and data
.and factory reset

Already tried those steps..still result is same.
I'm beginning to think that somehow data partition has become corrupt(same like Siyah rc6 issue) and it can only be flashed via ODIN. Still, mystery is how my binary counter is not getting increased when I Flash kernel via odin

[Q] [ Xperia U]I am stuck, Please Help me!

So as Wifi was not working on my Xperia u for team canjica's cm 10.+

And the installation aborted.
Now i cant startup my phone, cant flash anyother ram, im pretty scared.. what should i do? Please Help me..
You can flash stock sony rom using flashtool.
So i enter in flash mode and flash generic ftf ?
Before you flash you should do a backup, I am sure you will next time :d
Yes just flash FTF preferrably one you flashed before.
Yes, that's the way.
