[Q] Flash Pershoots CM9/10 build wit TWRP - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On his blog post, it says to use the packaged recovery to flash his ROMs (CWM 6.X.X.X) but I prefer TWRP. Has anyone attempted to flash them with TWRP?

I am on official ics now, but I flashed the July 29th cm9 build with twrp successfully. Don't know about the latest build though.

Install CM9 stable

Hello guys.
At the moment, I'm using siyah kernel 4.0.1 with dual boot of CM9 RC2 and slim ics (2ndry). Now I want to update from CM9 RC2 to the latest stable release.
Can I flash without data wipe/ factory reset and having all apps and settings still there?
Thx for reply folks!
Btw: great platform!

Yeah. there's a guide to dual boot with siyah. I believe you would just go to the dual boot settings in cwm recovery and flash the updated zip to the first/second rom.

Thx. Made an backup via cwm, then flashed the newest CM9 version. Everything went fine. I only had to reflash siyah kernel cause it installed the cm kernel while flashing.
Can be closed!

AOKP update question

Currently on build 32. I'd like to upgrade to milestone 6 but I'm not sure what all I need to do? It says update to devil up build in installation, is the devil kernel in the rom or do I need to instal the kernel before the update? Thanks.

You can follow section 8 of droidstyles guide to install the devil kernel. You flash the kernel after you flash the rom. You can also flash steves ms6 which has the devil kernel already included, but it is an older version. The newest kernel version is available from this thread.

You don't need to be running stock ICS to flash CM 9.1 .But you have to do a full wipe before flashing CM 9.1. And yes you definitely have to flash the kernel of CM 9.1.
All you need is a custom recovery to flash whatever version of Android that's available for your phone. You don't need to be running a stock version prior to it. And you need to flash the CM9.1 kernel before flashing the ROM. Kernels get flashed along with the ROM usually, but some phones need the kernel to be flashed separately due to partially unlockable bootloaders. When the bootloader is fully unlocked, the boot.img can be flashed to the /boot partition in recovery itself. But for phones with only partially unlockable bootloaders, the boot.img has to be flashed separately using a computer.
Thanx for the reply..... I have an u locked boot loader but i guess in Xperia devices kernel cant be flashed with Cwm recovery.......

[Q] Installing new update over old.

I have SuperChargedHatkaDNA 1.1.6 and want to update to 2.1.0. Do I need to go through the who flashing a boot image or can I just install the update through my recovery?
If it is an update of the same Rom you should just be able to flash the update in recovery. Just to be on the safe side you should also back up all your data.
If the Rom author changed what kernel the Rom comes with than you will have to reflash the boot.img, but otherwise, no, you won't have to reflash it and will be able to do it all in recovery.

The kernal changed to the 0.9.4 or so you will need to flash boot.img but other than that flash the rom

[Q] Problems installing kitkat i9100i

I was using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1290468 rom.
Now while trying to install
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2580489
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854
Both give status 7 error while in cwm recovery
older roms such as rootbox v3.7.1 and jellybam v6.0.0 are installing fine.
Are the above stated roms not suitable for sgs2 i9100i
Probably you should first read the instructions before starting to flash ...
You need CWM recovery > 6.0.4.x otherwise it will not flash.
