[Q] DIM card error, need advice. - HTC Rezound

***edit---title should read SIM not DIM***
In spite of the fact that I have a SIM card installed, every time I boot my Rezound I get the following error message "A sim card is needed to operate this phone. Please turn off your phone and insert your SIM card". I recently rooted and unlocked my phone and this situation seem to start happening soon after. I'm not using a custom ROM. After the error message the phone finishes booting up and works without any issues. Though I did get a couple of unexplained reboots this past week. I tried removing the battery and re-seating the SIM card several times which has no effect. Does that sound like a SIM card issue,an app issue or the phone itself? So far the phone is working in-spite of the error message but I'm concerned it is the beginning of a worst problem. Thanks

Might be an issue with the battery cover itself. Try cleaning the contacts.

wierd sim card issues?

Ive had my note for about a week and a half, love it, but twice now it acts like the sim card was pulled out? Powering off/on fixes it but its quite an inconvenience. I am wondering if anyone else has seen this issue, its stock by the way.

Yes, once and awhile it will have a no sim card showing in the status bar. the only way to get rid of it is to restart the phone but sometimes it will come back after a few minutes. Its really annoying.
I lost 2 SD cards with the Note 64gb and 32gb. This never happened to me. Sim card is normal no problem.
thanks cozzeck, any news if samsung and att know about it?

Kept happening to me a few weeks after I got mine. Went to the at&t store & they put a new sim card in it & that fixed it for me.

"No Sim" Error on AT&T Galaxy Note

All of sudden, my phone does not detect the SIM card anymore. I inserted another good SIM card, and get the same error. I tried to press the SIM card to ensure good contact, but not working. No problem with other function. I inspected the SIM card slot and it appears perfect. The phone has never been dropped or having liquid damage.
I did the factory reset, but could not get rid of the error. Unfortunately I just travelled to oversea...
AT&T agreed to replace the phone, but I will not have any phone on the road.
I am willing to try anything. Does not seem to be software related, but...
Anyone know how to fix the problem?
Thanks.
Hey. There us a thread about this just search for it... don't think they found a solution
Did this happen while your sim was still in the phone or after a removal and replace?

My 1717D stpped working too when I installed T-Mobile radio
I bought 1717D with Android 4.o.4 on it , Kernel 3.0.8-perf-1717DTLLF4-CL793911 and tryed to install T-Mobile modem to work with Mobilicity.Ufter this update phone doesnt recognize my SIM card any more.I Tryed all 3 modems with the same results, even though I did changed modem on two previous 1717 phones before. They were with 3.3.5. I thing The problem is in Gingrbred rom this pfone has.Where can I get original Yelus factory Rom ?One more thing is strange: it doesn't show any IMEI ,Baseband shows Unknown.
The phone has ics 4.0.4. I inserted a foreign sim card while traveling abroad and found "no sim" error. Then i switched back to the att sim and found with the same error. I shall say i always use the foreign sim while oversea and never had problem with this phone before. And i always power down, remove battery and then replace sim card.
I reflashed the ics radio and still no good. I can see the imei number in setting. But the baseband is unknown. I read almost all related posts and could not find a software fix.

"No SIM" just happened to me. I recently updated to the official JB stock ROM & Note worked great for about ten days... then just quit and displayed the "No SIM" error message. I first tried just shutting down, removing & cleaning SIM, replacing & rebooting. Nada. Then tried different, fully charged battery. Still no go. Still at home tried a factory reset, removing SIM, clean, & reboot. Gave up and went to an AT&T kiosk. Rep set me up with a new SIM and I'm back in business for two days now. Rep was quite philosophical, "it happens sometime." Still don't know why.

[Q] No SIM issue

Hello all,
I have had the no SIM issue on AT&T lately. Does anybody know how to fix this? Is it as simple as flashing a ROM or replacing SIM card or replacing the phone? I'm rooted on Hasoons Senseless QX 2.0.0. Since its basically modified stock it doesn't count as ROM change hence no fix.
Thanks,
Irish

I wish I had something else to say other than a me too, but I've been seeing it a lot myself recently. Everything I've read says that I should reseat my sim card. So I'm going to try that tonight. My local AT&T store told me that I should also reset the phone to factory defaults to solve it. Implying that some app I installed caused it.
Since I haven't rooted the phone yet, I'd be surprised if any app I installed caused it.

resetting the SIM card isn't a permanent fix, only permanent fix is put a little peice of paper between the SIM Card and the SIM tray to remove the slack and sim issue.

interesting. I'll give that a try. That brings up an interesting question though. If it's because the SIM card is physically loose, why does toggling Airplane mode fix it for me ?
The only thing that makes sense is that the SIM card comes loose, the system detects it and then puts up the message, but never checks to see if it came back.
Still, very interesting.
wow i hope that doesnt happen to me, sounds a bit worrying

yes your right that is what happening it doesn't reset itself. HTC is going to need to make some new sim card trays for everyone
Update: resteating the SIM fixed it for now

Could also put some tape on the other side to create more resistance.

No sim Card is Detected

So my htc amaze has recently started giving me some problems. It just lost its service one day and it comes back once in a blue but then it goes away. I am running stock ICS. When i start the phone it gives me a "system process has stopped working" error message. ANd it doesn't get service. When i go to check the APN settings it tells me "No sym card is detected" I've restore to factory but still have the same problem.
Sound like either you have a bad SIM Card or Bad Sim Card Slot. It's possible that it could be a issue with T-Mobile because my S3 was doing the same thing 2 days ago. Did you try a new SIM card yet.

yes. i get i new sim card, but still the same problem. I reset to factory
This some times happens to me also. But it goes away after a reboot. If a reboot doesn't clear it up call T-Mobile for a replacement.

Accessing sim notification

Why is this a thing and how do I get rid of it? Happens all day long just flashing on and off. I have a sim in with full working network. I'm rooted on .200, got this notification on .152 and if I remember correctly it was still on mm. I know I'm not alone because I found a YouTube video searching for it:

It happens to me too occasionally. My phone is not rooted, still on lollipop.

it happens for me as well
Kind of ridiculous
By the way it's behaving, it would seem logical that there's an issue with the sim card reader or the sim card.
Given this is not happening to many people.
Try a different sim to see if it persists. If it does then I'd think it was down to the sim reader hardware.
Just a thought

Do you not get this notification? I am a heavy user, my phone is never really off and it's pretty constant at about every 30 minutes flashing a few times, with or without sim in.
I get it as well. Sometimes it happens very often. Sometimes there is longer in between. Have seen the error with different sim cards
