Hi! This is my first post.
I bought a handset on ebay. It's designed for the iphone (see pic), so I assumed that, being CTIA standard, it would work with my Xperia S. Wrong! The microphone doesn't work. I tried it on my sons iphone, and it works perfectly. It doesn't work on my wife's Lumia 800 for the same microphone reason.
So, my question is this; Does anyone have any suggestions as to impedance matching etc., of the iphone by comparison to other smartphones? I made a cable to convert the connectors - T-T, R1-R1, R2-S, S-R2, but that doesn't work at all. It does work perfectly on my Nokia E72, however!
Any advice gratefully received!!
Anyone?

After double checking with sony the reason for this is that Xperia S supplies 2V purely from an energy consumption perspective. The microphone in the bundled Sony Mobile headset is Electret microphones that only require a 2V feed. Other suppliers (for example, iPhone headsets) use MEMS microphones that require a minimum of 2,7V.
In order to be fully compatible with all 3rd party headsets, Sony phones need to supply a minimum of 2,7V which it doesn't.
Don't we have any mods or solutions, do we?

The guys over at the desire hd forum section have come up with a custom rom for the device made out of a leaked ruu from the unreleased HTC Runnymede. The rom has one feature that will certainly be very desirable in the next couple of weeks, Beats Audio. Now as i understand, the beats integration should be mostly software(like the beats audio laptops from HP). SO, the question is that can it be soft ported to the SGSII?
p.s. oh and if im in the wrong section, do tell
BTW, HTC Sensation XE is another beats audio device(can be used as anothet source!)
Fantastic idea. Would love to see this at our sgs2.
Maybe you could contact the vodoo developer. It think it's supercio. He's is very friendly.

Although he is a very friendly person indeed, I doubt that he'll start implementing this for SGS2. The reason is the same as for the lack of Voodoo Sound feature, a different and a bit less efficient sound chip used in SGS2 (The original SGS has Wolfson WM8994 and Samsung replaced it with Yamaha MC-1N2 in SGS2). I'd see it more likely for the original SGS :-/
people telling Cyanogen much better
oh and The Galaxy S II uses audio hardware manufactured and branded by Yamaha
Doesnt matter who made the hardware.. Do you think they put monster equipment in all hp laptops? As with all such marketing gimmicks, this has to be software based tweaks and heaven knows we need better audio output
great idea !! anyone tried it on other hardware ?? is it working with monster beats without pilot or it neets to be with pilot edition ?? and will there work monster beats with pilot (iphone edition) i mean as i know ther is diffrent polarisation in jacks... so we need to wait for new editions of earphones ??
Im supporting this yeahh.. must admit that the audio output ftom sgs2 is weak indeed.. my old htc desire sounds better even with cheaper earphones... and i really dont like the 'fakeness bass sound' in SGS2

(UNRELATED QUESTION) i just recalled another feature in our phones that needed some usage, fm transmission. I read somewhere on xda before launch that the broadcom chipset inside had nnot only BT 4.0 but also this capability. I for one, think that fm transmission is one killer feature

Not only that, but you'd think those developers would agree that since audio on the SGS2 is actually worse, the need for such software is even greater... I can't understand why they won't develop it where it's obviously most needed...

Put simply, the sound from the S2 is FLAT with hardly any bass. You may also hear regular interference like hissing sounds due to the phone's design.
Even simpler, the audio output of the S2 = horrible
Are there any news ?

The sound quality is great, as is the option to perform tasks using the live key.
Make sure you get the new ones, not the old SE ones.

Exactly, I've tried my Xperia S Livesound headset on my Arc S and it doesn't work. Please take note everyone.
old ones only works with xperia 2011 models, new ones for xperia 2012 models, they both seem to have the same model numbers and looks identical according to sony's official web site.

Ooooh lucky you.... I only got the first kind. Had to buy mine separately.
I looking for this headset and i believe the sound quality is good and by read all the comments from all over the media i believing it.
Now comparing both of the head set. First named Livesound and only work for 2011 xperia ( based fr the web ) and the Smart Headset can be use for any phone with 3.5mm jack.
I think sony developing and change their input and socket series.
My choice will be the smart headset, becouse it can be used for any phone

the smart headset does not work with all 3.5mm socket, all xperia 2011 also has 3.5mm, but does not work with smart headset, check sonys site for compatible handsets.
after emailing Sony and being told they couldn't tell me a release date for the smart headset I decided to buy the Jays one+ which work perfectly and have the app from play store due to only having one button

Thats what i said at the older post, the Livesound Hi-fi 3.5mm doesnt work for other 3.5mm phone. But sony claims their new smartheadset 3.5mm could work for other phone.
I suggest come and visit their official site

it's your post that is misleading.
you say the live sound is only for 2011 xperia--true, but other non SE brand phnes may work.
you say the smart headset works with any phone with 3.5mm socket--not true, it will work with many and the ones stated in their site, the xperia 2011 phones also has the 3.5 mm socket, these will not work.
Hi Guys,
I've recently purchased a Moto E XT1021 and am dismayed that it has the same audio hissing issue that some of the LG phones have suffered from. The exact problem is demonstrated on a YouTube video entitled "LG G2 KitKat Audio Issues (hissing noise)".
It appears that LG have acknowledged the problem but I wondered if anyone was aware of an existing or future fix that will work on the Moto E? I've tried the latest stock, CM11 and SlimKat ROMs but the hissing is present on all of them. This is very annoying when listening to soft music like piano pieces.
I don't want to purchase any more headphones because I already own several branded pairs that sound great on my other devices.
I've tried the suggested solutions of turning off DSP effects, using aeroplane mode, using PowerAmp etc. but these don't impact on the hissing.
Cheers.

Interesting, I did not notice this. Also after extended listening with a good headset. Maybe it differs between batches? Ive also got an XT1021.

Thanks for confirming that.
Are you using in-ear headphones? All mine are 16 or 32 ohm and are the ear-canal type. My phone was purchased in the UK.
Also got an UK phone and used a Sure in-ear headphone....
Will double check tomorrow!

Nice one.
I've just located my old Sony MDR-V6 'over-ear' headphones and they have no hiss when connected to my Moto E. However, this doesn't surprise me because I've seen the interesting thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2611599, regarding the poor Opamp on the Moto G.
I'm still curious whether this can be 'fixed' with a software patch or if it's purely down to poor audio hardware. It seems pretty lame that a device from 2013/2014 can sound as bad as the old cassette tapes from my childhood.
Wow, there really is quite some hissing when using my Sure headphone
Don't know why I did not notice this before....
My other headphones sound great!

Hi.
Since some Xperia devices (that once were one-seg) received a software update and now they have full-seg Digital TV, is there a way to make this better TV also work on C6843?

It probably would have been better to pose this question to anyone, instead of to these specific two people. We have 1 very knowledgeable/active guy hanging around, but he's not on your list of shout outs.

You're right. Everyone is invited to talk in this thread. If anyone has some contribution (e.g: uploading the full-seg apps from other Xperia devices), it will be great. : )

I was not aware that some Xperia phones were capable of full-seg DTV. Does it make a difference, in such a small display? Anyway, right now I could help only if someone gives me some files from his full-seg firmware, so I can test and possibly make it work on the C6843. To begin with, I would need at least the kernel (including the ramdisk), to compare with C6843's kernel. I've investigated some time ago the difference between C6833 and C6843 to find out what's different in C6843 besides the hardware tuner, and it's only a kernel module, some init.rc changes (which goes into the ramdisk), shared libraries and the DTV app itself.
Hello fellow owners of this phone, a feature that I really miss from my old phones is the stereo sound.
Is there any good modder that would be able to make that possible? I would be super greatfull for that.
