Guys, my cousin has very good phone. He knows nothing about rooting, etc. So I rooted his phone yesterday, and it's OC'd at 2.2 MHZ! His phone is very unpopular, only 5 ROMS available for it. The name of it is LG Esteem, from Metro PCS. it has a sister phone on Verizon, called the LG Revolution. Okay, on to my question.. Is it safe to flash roms made for the LG Revolution to his phone, the LG Esteem? :/ Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but there's no forums for his phone.
probably not, phones are differently named for a reason (might stuff up his radio even if its the same phone but different carrier). anyways, this thread belongs to general, at the top of the list of forums.
I don't think so mate,i think they have to be ported.
U better teach ur cousin few things about rooted phones since u rooted his ... Hihi
Btw u should ask in Lg Revolution forum, they more likely know more about ur question.

Hey Guys,
I recently got a HTC HD2 as a gift from a friend. I am loving this phone - such a huge screen (I used iPhone 4 recently and it seemed so small then), amazing touch sense and overall experience.
I have been browsing the XDA forums for quite some time. I have few issues/queries that I want to get cleared up:
1. My HTC is locked to T-mobile, USA and I am in Canada. I have been unsuccessful in getting it unlocked. I contacted couple of shops who claimed to unlock it through the code but cudn't get the code. Anybody has any idea why is it hard to get HTC HD2 unlock code? I read somewhere that my IMEI number belongs to the new T-mobile series. Cud that be a problem? What do you guys suggest on getting my phone unlocked? One of the shops told me that they might have to flash the ROM but I don't know what that means....which brings to us to my next question...
2. What does "Flashing the ROM" means? It is about rewiring the ROM? I heard there are custom ROMs. What are custom ROMs? I need to figure out this ROM stuff. I know what is a ROM....I just want to know how this thing and different jargons work wrt Mobile phones.
3. Is there is any benefit of running Andriod (Froyo) on my mobile? I would love to have Andriod since WinMo has forced me to reset the phone more than I have resetted my previous smartphones per year. But, I think Andriod is still in development mode. What are your views on this issue?
I am going to browse the forums more and try to be active here. I hope these queries are a good point to start here.
Thanks in advance.

LMAO! commical how uninformed supposed phone technicians are, , ,no, flashing will have no effect at all on sim lock.
but I don't know what that means....which brings to us to my next question...

think of the windows cd rom, , you put it into a blank computer, and it installs itself, , well a rom is kinda like that. A big file that, when you hard reset (or immediately after a flash) installs itself, complete with all included software, onto your phone. If you flash a new rom, its like using a different windows cd. 'chefs' can 'cook' roms, , get rid of operator added rubbish, add tweaks and programs, etc etc.

read, then read more, then read again. Read the stuff youdont understand too, be a knowledge sponge, soak it alllll up. Everything (and i do mean everything) that you want to ask has alerady been asked, and usually answered, if you trawl through enough threads.
Hi all! I post this question here because it's related to OPTIMUS family.
I am quite new to this forum and I'd like to thanks for all the helpful infos and files I could find here for my androdevices.
I am planning to buy a phone for my gf and I saw the new LG OPTIMUS LIFE (dunno if this is the name in all the countries, maybe p350?but I am not sure)
here is a link to its specs:
(3 dablius).lg.com/it/mobile/mobile-phones/LG-smartphone-android-LG-Optimus-Life.jsp
It seems to be a smaller brother of OPTIMUS ONE (p500) with half RAM and resolution for a small case and less money.
I see that this phone hasn't a official supported section in xda forum and actually I can't find any info about rooting/modding it on google.
I was wondering if some developer is planning to support it, I would be sure to buy it if I know I could root and improve it but if not maybe I can cange my mind.
My phone is an old htc sapphire 32A, and if I go on using it, its just because of the great job people is doing here, trasforming a very old device like mine in a up-to-date performing and useful smartphone. So I will try to stick to models that can benefit this.
I also think that this model could be very similar to OPTIMUS ONE p500 and maybe there is some chance that the existing p500 roms will work on OPTIMUS LIFE too...
But this is noobish talkin...
Thank you for any answer!
custom ROMs will not work .. however, it might be possible to root it using Super One Click Root ...
Thanks for repling... I will try to ask Super One Click dev for some detail about rooting it.
can you please tell me if you did it? A friend has one and I will like to know. Thanks
Hey everyone,
I just got an Xperia X10a off a friend off mine who upgraded to a different phone. I had a Captivate, but my gf broke it... I've been digging around this section of XDA and was wondering if there are any "complete" roms out for the X10 with android 2.2. I mean with everything functioning? I've seen a lot with some bugs still. I've read that this phone is a lot more difficult development wise than the Galaxy S line.

Hello there,
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a very happy 2012.
I am an phone geek and I have an LG Optimus One, neither modded nor even updated once (curses to the blasted firmware update drivers). In this community of phone users, I feel like chicken- I am scared at the very thought of toying with the OS and hardware, even though I have no fear of OEM updates. And being on a tight budget I can't afford to damage my phone due to a modding goof-up.
My question is: HOW DO YOU INCREASE THE PERFORMANCE OF AN LG OPTIMUS ONE P500(AKA THE V, PHOENIX) WITHOUT ANY MODDING?
If there is any app that safely does the task, tell me please. I use TasKiller and the memory optimizer inside NetQin antivirus.
Help me!!!!

This is what I don't want from any of you as a reply:
"Use a kernel, man."
"Why don't you root your phone?"
"Use a custom OS like CyanogenMod!"
"You should overclock your phone, it's very easy..."
and the dumbest of all replies:
"You should sell your phone and buy something like a Galaxy or Wildfire...."
or "I know a guy, he's an expert, dude, you should give your phone to him to mod..."
I won't give my phone to ANYBODY, YOU HEAR? ANYBODY!unless he's an authorized LG service engineer or so.
Waiting for a reply ASAP.
Then ask Santa Claus......

In that case it will take you some time to realize that you are the dumb one, not us.
hhhhhhhhhhhh he is like...
I know all the answers but i cant and i still want the best xD
Long explanation in short: You can't.
Yeah it's weird that you want to improve your phone while shooting down the very solutions to your problems. I know the feeling though of being scared to screw up your phone.
I screwed mine up in like three days after trying to install custom recovery. I don't know what went wrong. It was rooted just fine but this was during those times without Clockwork Recovery support and amonra needed a PC to be installed (didn't know about Terminal emulator until after). Brought the phone to LG since it was still under warranty. They fixed it a week after.
Then I went back to trying and read more and asked more questions about the stuff I was doing to my phone. The developing support for this phone is awesome. You really shouldnt be afraid anymore.
And yeah there really isnt a lot you can do to improve your phone's performance without a custom rom + a new kernel + overclocking... all of which you don't like to do
Read, read, read, read, than read some more... Hope to God you have a warranty on your phone...

Sorry, but if you want better performance without messing with the software at the very least, you need to buy a better phone.
As long as you read instructions carefully you will be fine. Most of us O1 users were first time rooters, but we pulled through. There is no app that give give you the power of a galaxy s II.

O1 is already a good performer. If you don't want to take rist, just stop visiting XDA! You'll certainly be a more satisified person, believe me!

Of course know that the Optimus can't become a Galaxy S II, but still there must be some trick that can boost the power of the phone. I finally fixed the drivers and now it's running LG's 2.3.3 Gingerbread, and there has been a huge increase. I know I am a bit shameless and crazy, but still if you know anything that could make my day, I will be happy to hear.

Use a launcher from android market instead of the LG one. It will make your homescreen and app drawer FEEL smoother without actually changing anything. I recommend Launcher Pro.
Beside that....nope, there's nothing much else you can really do. Honestly rooting, flashing roms etc is very easy and risk free if you're good at following instructions.
So today I got my new phone (an LG Optimus F7). I know what your thinking... This phone is almost 3 years old. Found it kinda funny how it doesn't even exist on the LG site anymore. Its just a replacement till I get my Nexus 6 in July. Anyway back to the topic, I need the file for Odin to root it. Iv done some google searching and can't seem to find it.
Also, If any of you know of any, i'd like a custom ROM as its running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and its quite slow and glitchy.
(sorry if im posting this in the wrong forum, i can't find a forum that would really fit this phone.)
