the process com.motorola.process.system has stopped unexpectedly - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i recently have been getting the message "the process com.motorola.process.system has stopped unexpectedly" and ever since then, my webtop on my lapdock would not launch. i googled around and tried changing the time trick and sure it stopped letting the message from popping up again from lockscreen but when i try to check for phone updates it'll start popping up again and the webtop still won't launch.
anyone know of a solution to my problem? without doing a restore? i have like almost 100 apps and im using all the homepages and i really dont want to go through like an hour or so setting up my phone again.

Sorry but restore is the only way I found to fix this in the past on a stock device.

android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly problem

Hi all, hoping you can help with a problem I'm having.
Basically, my Hero was fine, working perfectly, until I cleverly managed to lock myself out of it by getting the security swipe wrong too many times.
Long story short, I did a factory reset (had only got the phone that day so didn't seem like a big deal to lose anything).
I rebooted it, contacts came back down through google, everything fine. Then I started getting this message when connecting contacts to facebook or viewing the 'my contact card'.
android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly problem, force close
If I log out of facebook then I don't get the problem, but I'd like the facebook functionality. When I'm logged into facebook some contacts display facebook info, some don't.
My first thought was a dodgy contact, but all the contacts are the same as the first time I sync'd with google, so nothing should be wrong there I hope.
Anyway, any ideas?
Same problem
Hello,
I am having the same problem. I also posted a question regarding this problem yesterday in the forum but up until now I have received any answers. I also send an email to HTC support but haven't heard from them yet. I suggest you do the same, this way they can't say that this is a one time problem ;-)
I was about to do a factory reset, but now I am afraid that this isn't going to solve my problem. My phone has been working without any problems for 2 weeks with a lot of facebook people synchronised to my contacts. I think that 1of the facebook contacts has some illegal character is its name or description and thus giving this error.
Spoke to soon. This is the reply from HTC. But it isn't that helpfull I am afraid ;-(
Dear HTC customer,
Thank you for contacting our Customer Support Center. We are dedicated to providing you with the best quality service and answering all of your questions and concerns.
Thank you for your feedback, please try to do a hard reset of your phone to see if that solves the problem. You can do this by:
1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the HOME and BACK buttons, and then briefly press the END CALL/POWER button. The reset process will start after a few seconds.
2. Wait for the phone to finish the reset process and then press MENU.
If this does not solve the problem there should be a ROM update for the Hero coming out soon which could contain a fix for the problem. Try the hard reset if it doesn’t work keep an eye on htc.com for the ROM upgrade for the Hero.
If the above steps do not resolve your issue, we invite you to visit the support area on our Web site. Please go to: http://www.htc.com/www/support.aspx
Or you can go to: http://www.htc.com/select_country.htm, select your country and then click on the Support tab.

How bizarre!
Tried it now and no problem, fantastic!
From one of those links....
"Lots of people getting it - seems like it could be a Facebook api change if you look at that thread."
I guess with the hero being SO connected with the web, a lot more than just the phone can break things. Ah well.
Thanks deeren.

i am having the same problem with android.process.acore and i have try everything in the phone and nothing seems to work. please if anyone knows how to fix write back. thanks.
Had this start happening to me today, immediately after I installed three updates from the market, Pure Messenger Widget, Titanium Backup and Fat Secrets. I don't think it was the latter two, I think it was Pure Messenger Widget. It was difficult to get that one to install, it took ages, and then it interferred with the download of the other two. Once I was through with the market the force closes started. Managed to shut the phone down but they came back, until I uninstalled Pure Messenger Widget. A few more reboots and it seems to be back to normal. I realize this is anecdotal, and I have no development experience so I have no logic to draw on here other than my own experience.

Suddenly today my phone will not boot up, giving me the "the process android.acore has stopped ..." message. There are lots of forum threads suggesting possible causes and how to fix them, but none address the issue of when you can't switch on the device at all. I'm in an endless cycle of "force quit" and "the process android.acore has stopped". I'm at the point of having to factory reset, unless anyone can suggest anything please ...?

Unfortunately I think a factory reset is your only option at this point. That's what I had to do when my phone was doing the same thing. Hopefully you have a recent backup to fall back on, however, be careful - do not restore any system data, that's where the problem lies.
Many thanks. I've performed a factory reset and successfully restored a Sprite backup made five days ago. But to my great disappointment I find that none of my programs have been included. Is this normal? All other data, settings, etc have restored fine, just no programs. I can of course reinstall them one by one since my market data is saved in the cloud, but is that normal with a Streak backup, that programs are not included?
Have no idea why your programs weren't backed up, sorry. I use Titanium Backup Pro, so my backups are complete.

Make sure you've backed up everything you want backed up and do a factory reset - it seems to be the only way to fix this. If that doesn't fix it, then try flashing a custom ROM, I know that will work - that's how I ended up delving into the custom ROM world
I have had the same problem today and just finished doing a HARD factory reset with samsung...DOESN'T work...still get the error message and will not operate. Finally called AT&T warranty department and they are sending out yet ANOTHER phone..this will be our 3rd refurbished phone.
If anyone comes up with a solution please let me know. I am going to play around for the next couple of days and see what I can come up with....
Thanks

Like I said, they'd no solution other than flashing a new rom, be it stock or custom. I choose custom and learned I'd never depend on AT&T or Samsung again.

Thanks, I used odin2oneclick and it put android 2.1 update 1 on the phone. Then I didn't have a clue how to get android 2.2 on the phone so I called samsung and they walked me through using kies mini. Now working and have it rooted once again.
Thanks again

GB on TB

Ok so I have been looking over the forums and I hope I didn't miss it if there is a post already about this so I am going to go ahead and ask away. If it has been posted and I did miss it then I apologize for beating a dead horse.
I have tried the Liquid Gingersense (v1.4, v1.5, and v1.6) and CyanogenMod (v7.1.0-RC1.5.2 and v 7.1.0-RC1.6.1) and have not had any luck. Along with some minor esthetic issues I had with the CyanogenMod, I had noticed that the Gingersense actually disabled my radio and I was unable to make any calls and the signal bars would just show up with an "x" next to it. I rebooted many times and kind of tinkered around and tried other ways of turning it on or playing with LTE on/off to see if that would help in any way and I never did get it enabled.
When I would look at the "Quick Setting" (if I recall the name correctly), the icon for me to enable it was greyed out so clicking on it did nothing at all. Has anyone had this issue? Did I perhaps miss doing something when setting this up? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
You mentioned that you had no signal with Gingersense but not with Cyanogenmod so I'm not sure if this is your case but did you flash the radio suggested for those roms? MR2, GB leak, etc. If not, you can find links in the pinned thread at the top of the Q/A.
Also, remember when switching between roms to wipe data/cache.
No actually I did not try that. So if I do get time to do that do I do the ROM then the radio thing? I do believe I came across a.radio deal and thought " I wonder if I need to install that?" But never tried. I figured it safer to ask and not break my phone than to break it and figure out how to fix it...lol

Ya sounds like you need to flash an Mr2 or higher radio. Check the q&a stickys for links and instructions.

Well I decided to give it another shot. I have GingerSense v1.7 installed and did the MR2 install and it all works perfectly. I have a few apps I need to reinstall and a couple icons to redo but other then that everything looks great and seems to work smooth. Thank you guys for the help. I greatly appreciate it.
Actually the only issue I am having right now is that every...I dont know maybe 5 minutes or so there is an error that pops up that Im not sure how to get rid of. It says...
"The application Google Services Framework (process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
Any ideas or thoughts about this?
Well I think I have discovered the root of this error. I have noticed that when I text and if o click on the Mic to do voice to txt that even though the screen pops up as if it OS going to record, it does absolutely nothing. How to fix it is where I am still stumped though.

Well it seems I have been noticing some weird things that are making me think maybe I should try Gingersense v1.5
At first my camera was working but Im not sure why it isnt now. I cant do pics or video and lastnight when I was trying to Skype with my cousin in CA the video cam didnt work for me. I also have been getting two different errors...
1) The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
-AND-
2) The application Talk (process com.google.android.talk) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
I also had noticed that it seems to take a bit longer for the phone to boot in comparison to what it used to and especially when it was brand new and not yet rooted. I have a custom static image that says "HTC quietly rooted" and a WWII themed Android boot animation". When I reboot I get a black screen for about 30 seconds then the custom HTC image comes up for about 20-25 seconds then the custom animation plays THEN once that's done I'm booted into my phone.
Is there any kind of way to cut those times down for faster booting? Well I think I will have to keep messing with this and see what I can do...

IMO Messenger suddenly Force Close constantly. What's up with this thing??

I have been trying numerous IM apps and have gotten to like using IMO Instant Messanger to chat on my Yahoo account. However, just recently I ran into a problem. Suddenly out of nowhere IMO started Force Closing. A window would pop up displaying 2 of my apps then suddenly it would FC. I click the FC button, then a few seconds later the same thing repeated itself. I had to go into Manage Applications and Force Stop IMO. Rebooted phone, and tjay little IMO exclamation point at the top was there. I click to go to it and it goes right back to Force Closing again.Later, I uninstalled IMO and rebooted phone. A couple days after that I reinstalled IMO and it was working fine for a day. Then... Suddenly it's right back to FC again. I don't have a clue what's up with it. I have looked at and tried a few other IM apps. Not liking the reviews on some of those. Tried Palringo, its ok but it has big ads that pop up in middle of chat lines and slows down the app.
Anyone else used IMO on their Rezound or had this weird FC loop? Anyone recommend anything better (free).? Attached is a screen shot of that window that pops up just before IMO FC.
.
I have no issues using it. Try removing the app, then reinstall.

I had no issues with it either, for 2 weeks it was fine. And as I stated above earlier, I had uninstalled.. Then 2 days later I reinstalled and IMO worked fine for a day... then started FC again. I uninstalled that time. Reinstalled again and it starts Force Closing as soon as I open it. I went through all the running services and processes using System Panel. Killed off a few services and processes I thought might be conflicting, but still no difference. I have NO idea whats up with that thing.
I'm using GO Chat for Yahoo now. Just thought maybe someone might know something about this. Thanks
try to remove the app then delete .secure_android file on your sd card, then reboot and reinstall. just sounds like something is is corrupt.
You may also want to go into recovery and wore you cache and davlik cache just to be safe.
Then install again.

[Q] process.acore

I have a Droid RAZR running ICS and starting this morning I started receiving the message "Unfortunately, the process android.process.core has stopped" with an 'OK' to dismiss it.
My RAZR is not rooted. I uninstalled two apps that I downloaded on Saturday and I have rebooted twice today. I have also cleared cache. I have searched using google and most of the responses are to "reset to factory settings". While I don't really mind doing that, I can't imagine that it is totally required. Seems like that is a natural response to anything that goes wrong.
What could be causing this issue and what do I need to look for?
Thanks....

Fixing permissions with the filesystem would work if you were rooted but the apk that process is not setting well with the data and wiping data cache a.k.a. factory data reset is a not rooted approach.
Sent from my DROID RAZR MAXX using xda app-developers app
So then what would have changed the file permissions you speak of? I have had android phones since the original Droid and have never ran into this .... so, why all of a sudden. Resetting the phone to me is not a good answer. I would like to know what caused the issue so that it can be avoided in the future. Wiping a phone is not something that I want to be in the habit of doing. And, like my original post said, that seems to be everyone's answer. Sure, it may be the easiest.....but, I want to dig deeper and find the cause.....

[Q] Photon stuck at Begin Here screen

So I was playing with my Photon 4G (rooted) and Titanium Backup Pro. I was curious to see what apps I could uninstall and of course I got a little over zealous. The phrase: "I know just enough to be dangerous." comes to mind. Anyway here is what happened. I started uninstalling apps and eventually I got a bunch of Force Close messages. I got so many that I couldn't do anything on my phone anymore, they would just keep popping up too quickly. Eventually I decided to do a factory reset. Looking back, probably not the best decision. The phone did the factory reset and will boot to the screen that shows the Android Robot and says "Press to Begin". The problem is that those Force Close messages are still popping up as much if not more than before. I try to touch the Android Robot to begin but nothing happens. I think I uninstalled the wrong app (perhaps a vital system component) and doing the factory reset didn't reinstall the app. Are there any methods to flash everything back? Will a stock flash do it?
Note: Also, as I was writing this I had let my Photon sitting and all the Force Close messages disappeared. I doubt they are gone totally but wanted to note that as well.
Note 2: My photon is just my old phone that I decided to keep around in case I needed an extra phone so it is not attached to any company but was once Sprint.
Sometimes that welcome screen doesn't work properly. To skip it, tap all four corners of the screen starting at the top left. It will bypass the initial setup and you can add your Google account manually in settings.
