Hello all, got a I9300 recently, and I couldn't help noticing how narrow the viewing angle is. Screen gets a tint (purple) as soon as I tilt it a little bit. Almost looks like the gorilla glass is at fault here. I dont know, is this common?
Thanks.

I am pretty sure your screenguard is at fault here.

Pefect viewing angle here. Maybe it's your screenguard.

Viewing angle is fine over here. It's either your phone that's fked up or screen protector as some have mentioned already.

Yea, I came from a Samsung Vibrant, so maybe I'm just not used to it. It's not like a SUPER bad tint. Just a slight reflective glare. So it's pretty much normal for the Super AMOLED to act like this then?

It's a common thing with the phone, and it actually does not ruin the quality of the screen at all. Just don't look at a black screen in a very dark room...
I've only run into one case where I ever see it: feeding my baby daughter in the middle of the night while waiting for a netflix movie to load. Once anything else comes on the screen, my eyes adjust and I can't even tell it's there.
My Captivate had the same thing and even after more than a year the display looks fantastic. I don't think it's anything to worry about unless it frequently bothers you during normal use.
I exchanged my SGS2 today because of screen issues. they exchanged it no questions asked. the screen looks better on this one
I have been wondering if there is a white screen protector for the galaxy s2. Cause i know someone whom has a white one, and it makes me jealous not to have one like that. Any around or anyone got one?

I'm 110% against screen protectors, they peel off after a few weeks and usually disort the screen pretty badly. Plus most feel akward and can cause issues with the touch sensitivity.

I'm using the Otterboxone and its ok, no bubbles, no peeling and no effect on accuracy or feel. It does have a bluish wave when the screen is off but you can't see it at all when its on even if you try.
I agree I have seen some that feel horrible and ruin the phone but otterbox got it just right.

If you want a great screen protector, go with the SGP Steinheil Series [Ultra Crystal]:
http://www.amazon.com/SGP-Samsung-P...6SUM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1330006064&sr=8-1
Greatest screen protector I have EVER had. The coating on the screen protector makes it feel like you are touching the glass, there is NO rainbow effect, size is great (if you put it on right, which is pretty easy, it seems like there is no screen protector at all), no peel at all, and no residue left if you decide to take it off.
Wow! Wish i had enough money to buy all these. Still enough i just want one that can keep the screen safe, without bubbles, and is smooth... I heard the 19100 has such. Maybe i could use those.
You'd have to trim it just above the capacitive buttons since it had the physical button cut out

Another +1 for this - got it a week ago, and I honestly can't tell it's on there. With the Skinomi carbon fiber on the back (I skipped the side pieces), when I don't use a case, I still feel "protected"
I havnet found any white ones. i know what your talking about. ive been looking for one too.
my infuse has it on it.
Are there really any differences between a $10+ screen protectors vs the $1.00 ones?
My $1.50 for 3 screen protectors off Ebay work just fine. I hardly even notice it is there. No bubbles and it still looks the same as the first day I put it on (3+ months).
So I acquired my s3 this Sunday and today I was watching Netflix and I notice some markings while the screen was black. I hadn't notice it till now and it's bugging the heck out of me. Do any of you have this? Could I take it to Sprint and have them exchange it? It's so noticeable in a black screen

That sounds like my GS2. This has been a major problem with the Galaxy S2, at least on T- Mobile. When the screen is black, you can see little lines. I haven't heard of this on the Galaxy S3 though. They should take it back and give you a new one. I was hoping Samsung had fixed this problem. Good luck...

It's called ink marks, search forums here for multi-dozen page threads on it.
AMOLED sucks. It has "ink marks", it's very dim, bizarre over-saturated colors, and the whites look "dirty" e.g. yellow or pink, and also there are tints from the sides and also a tint gradient sometimes where half the screen is slightly tinted even straight on. And S III is also PenTile (blurry).
Look at the HTC One X screen or EVO, Incredible, even a Droid or another phone with LCD. S III is far inferior to these unfortunately.
Has anyone else got or had same problem?

This is not right.Go to the store and get a replacement.
But s... happens and 20 mil units sold in less than 2 month some of them will be faulty
I've seen about 20 phones and pretty much all have that problem to some degree. I had a 16gb blue and now a 32gb blue and both gathered dust around the edges and home button. Yours seems to be slightly worse on the side.
Anyway, although I love the phone I can't believe samsung's build quality can be so bad. I also own an iphone and after 2 years it still hasn't gathered any dust anywhere. Shame such a good phone is spoilt by crap build quality.

You obviously have a white model which is why the dust doesn't show up as much as on the blue. Even then it mostly shows in bright light / sunlight.
BTW, my preference of phone is none of your business. Just stating facts. I sell phones for a living and haven't seen 1 yet that had a perfect fit along the edges and back cover for that matter. For a phone with such a big price tag that is pretty **** on samsungs part.
FWIW, I've owned the S1, S2 and now S3 and the galaxy series is my preferred phone. But Apple build quality is miles ahead, and that includes the 3gs iPhone which had a rubber seal between the screen and edging to avoid dust buildup.

You have a white one and since the dust on mine shows as white, it obviously wont stand out on yours.
You can do a quick test. Rip a small piece of paper and run the pointy bit along the edges, front and back. If it can go in, then it will gather dust.
As for your friends blue one, check it while sitting indoors with sunlight shining through a window onto the phone. He will likely see dust around the edges. That's how I noticed mine.

Lol. What part of my comments are based on emotion? Stating that I have physically seen 20 or so units and all had a gap to some degree has nothing to do with emotion. But since you've seen 2 perfect phones means that you are fully informed. My apologies sir.

believe me i tried your suggestion because i know it's a good thing to clean the edges once in a while so that the dust won't accumulate, but using a thin piece of paper and trying to insert the right angle edge did not go in.
so there are no gaps.

Thanks for testing. Well its good to know that there are ones out there with no gaps. Pity mine has a small gap at the bottom. Not really noticeable but in certain lighting conditions the dust does show.
After selling my 16gb to buy a 32gb model, was hoping the second one was better but it was just the same. Small gap or not, I wouldn't give up my phone for anything out there. The S3 is pure beauty.
