No SIM card after ICS - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

First timer, newcomer to android (from symbian), so please be patient if I ask something obvious to android gurus
So, bought my SGH-717r, on GB.
1. Unlocked it
2. Rooted, installed CMW and did full backup
3. Flashed T879UVLF5modem and my Wind was back on
4. Spent days reading on this forum, getting familiar with android...
5. Decided to upgrade to ICS and applied StockROMs.net-SGH-I717R_Rogers_1_20120628212445_558luhzx6e Rogers ICS update. There was a .dll file in that zip, although I unpacked only tar file and put on my SD for flash.
6. Everything went well, got my Rogers ICS
7. Unrooted again, and then...
8. Tried all possible modems for Tmobile (to get me on Wind) and every time I got "no SIM card".
Also, my systems showed
- unkown IMEI
-unknown modem etc..
2 days of reading on this forum and elsewhere and...
9. Went to CMW to restore original GB when things were working. Yes, I got my Wind HSPA working, but I am on GB
How to get ICS? What did I do wrong?
Thanks

Where you able to get a solution? The same thing happened to me.

Since you are flashing, why don't you try one of the custom ROMs(black star, cyanogenmod, rocket, crash, etc...) out there. They are rooted and cleansed.

same here - official Rogers ICS rom - flashed blaze, telus, and kid ICS - no sim detected..."insert sim card to access network services"

Yikes ....
This is the 5th device I am aware of with this condition...
2 of which went in for repairs.
This is an ugly trend that's forming .....and I spent 3 days trying to fix a device like this ....and never found a solid solution.
On 3 other devices that now work .....the users were able to downgrade to GB and repair the sim issue.
I can't say that this fix will work ...but I'd say that at least 60% of the users have recovered successfully using this method ....g

Bell Atrix failed 2.2->2.3.4 update.

I'm a Canadian Bell user.
I've been using Android 2.2, rooted, with a little OEM bloat removed (ashphalt demo etc.). The phone decided to update to the OTA 2.3, and bricked. I flashed to OLYEM_U4_2.1.1_SIGNED_UCAOLYPORTFR_P014_A004_M001_HWolympus_1g_1FF.sbf A Bell firmware it seems, though not quite the same as the original.
Which seems to work (I have no internet, but it seems I can call/text, it'll do for I came across http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195922&page=14
I then attempted to use Bell GB 2.3.4, so I rooted, installed ROM MANAGER, unlocked the bootloader, flashed tenfar's CWM, pulled the SIM, but kept the MicroSD in (the ROM is on the MicroSD) and then attempted to flash the 2.3.4 Bell GB leak.
First time,

So, I reflashed , rooted. etc. and tried again, and it froze this time at Updating BP...

ok so first the 2.1.1 rom is the retail france rom not bell (thus why you didn't have any internet as your apns wouldn't be loaded)
I would try putting the file on the internal memory and flashing it again
I assume the cwm you have is this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138541

I can't remember how I found it to be honest, but thank you very much for informing me. Yes, that is the CWM I have.
I will try again right away.
OP, I am slightly puzzled. You were running the stock Bell 2.2 and it decided to update to 2.3 ?? The official Bell update is out ?

You don't flash it with recovery you flash it with RSD Lite. It's a .sbf file not a zip file There's a billion threads on this already

Not quite sure about that, though I do know Bell wanted me to update my phone when I already had 2.2, and I must've accepted at some point, bricking my phone.
Now I'm racking my head over this, I've meticulously gone through the procedure, and I don't know what's wrong.
Flash the French 2.2 SBF
Root
Unlock bootloader
Install CWM (tried Tenfar's and another by romracer)
Install 2.3.4.zip (from both external and internal memory)
Still get the same error message at the end.

I flashed the SBF with RSDlite, and izip from CWM.
could have been the 2.2.2 update.
have you tried to re-download the file? wondering the if the system.img file got damaged some how.
you shouldn't need to flash the french rom again (outside of just to have a device that boots)

i got this problem fixed by placing in ext sdcard instead of internal memory.
Thank you very much Spuzzum. That was exactly what I needed. Though I must say, going from the stock Bell rom to a modified Alien rom is quite the change. Motorola was nice enough to save my contacts and google my calender events.

Edit:
I can't actually seem to differ from what I did and what the instructional video showed, other than loading a different ROM.
I still can't seem to access 2G from my phone though. Not like I need it when I'm in the city, but I'd prefer to use it when I'm out of the city and have to go several days without a charge.
Same problem
hi Guys.. I am having the same problem. I flashed the french SBF now multiple times, rooted, installed Tenfar's recovery and then tried to recover using either the bell 2.2.2 or bell 2.3.4 and both give me error while using recovery. The errror is assert failed , installation aborted. I also had my bootloader unlocked but that didnt help either. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Bell atrix issues
hey, so when i try to update my phone throws an error saying i dont have "qik.apk" in my system folder. i had this issue before with the random bloat demos the atrix comes packed with, i was able to add the demos to the system folder using su in the terminal and putting the .apk files that i found on the internet into the folder. but for some reason i do not have super user rights anymore (even though the super user app is still installed)
is there any way to fix this so i can update my phone?

[Q] Telus Owners Returning Back to stock (GB)?

Hey guys so i have a few questions about returning back to stock .. what i remember from G2x was just restoring the back up i had made of the original file :/
so first thing is first telus is releasing or supposed to release ICS on May 28th 2012 (next week) ... I have a Telus HTC Amaze 4G running on WIND Network i should be fine for this update no? Secondly .. I installed Bulletproof a while ago but i reverted back to stock rom by flashing a back up i had made (weirdly the rom was wiped when i restored it ... ) and flashed the telus kernel found from hasoon 2000's toolkit! Now from the reading i've done do i install stock recovery (the one from hasoons toolkit?) and lock bootloader and i should be fine right? i wouldnt need to flash a PH85IMG.zip right?
If i do need to reflash it like that do i use the .exe RUU or where can i find the PH85IMG.zip for telus rom?
Thanks for looking and hope to see ICS soon on our devices (aka monday )
If everything is stock as you said in the OP, then you should be fine, though I'm not sure your device will find the update since it's on another network other than the original, but it may, who knows, if not the update file should be available in a few hours to place on your sd card and update from if necessary.
thanks just making sure i dont think itll matter as its based on device no? like you could check for an update with no SIM card and wifi and it should work so network should not be a factor but i may be wrong

I wouldn't know, since the last time I checked for an update on a different network via a branded device it refused to find the update, while on the other hand on an unbranded device, it pulled the file without an issue, but you should be fine, we'll know when the update arrives.

Calm down. You found the solution yourself. That exe file is the ruu. Relock the bootloader put the phone in fast boot. Then run the program on your computer

So it didn't work..Also it said I have version 1.29.631.4 and this is 1.26.631.4 .. wouldn't I want the newer one? I never used a rom exe like this.. only flashed different rom zips from here.. the 3 available.
Also I am not posistive I MIGHT have used a "flash kernal" on one of the rom zips the android revolution one the very first time I installed it...
using "One_M7_All-In-One_Kit_v1.0" that is available here on at&t htc one part of forum. Then I kept reading and flashed it using recovery mode... and the rom worked well everything was fine except wifi... then today I flashed the others like I explained before trying to fix wifi and now the internet won't work as well. but the rest of the phone functions as it should and my carrier network works fine i can txt / call .
I follow your steps and it said this when I ran the exe..
ERROR[132]:SIGNATURE ERROR

Please get the correct ROM update utility and try again.
--- Sorry this is kind of long, I just want to explain best for anyone reading this including yourself to understand what idiot things I did to bring myself to this conclusion, I am new to the community and a android noob
I have the same problem too,my HTC One wifi keep saying turning on and then error after root, i tried using the wifi tether app but its not working, any one can help please?
I've re-read your OP and you don't have the correct RUU for your device. You have an M7 not a Puccini, anyway like the At&T model a RUU for rogers doesn't exist yet.
As for fixing your wifi, your best hope is to restore your nandroid backup (I hope you made one) or find a Nandroid for your device. I know there's a thread over on the International forums with Nandroids in it, maybe find it there or make a request there.

Please help me get jelly bean on my S2

Hello guys please hear me out!
I'm new to android as well as this forum, but I hear it's a great community. I followed a lot of tuts on how to upgrade my S2 to jelly bean or ics none of them really worked.
OK my friend got me the phone from amazon it's a Samsung Galaxy S2 International Version 16gb Unlocked with 2.3.5 Gingerbread stock firmware. The following day I tried to upgrade the unrooted firmware via KIES, it told me there is no update available for my phone. Okay I decided to root it and flash it though odin. I read that it was wise to back-up the software first and boy was it! So I rooted it and backed it up with ClockworkMod to an sd card just in case. But I forgot to get the other information before I flashed: original Baseband version, Kernel and Build number.
The flashing went fine I got 4.1.2 on my phone but I lost the network service, the lock screen and the turn off key dialog (the phone would just turn off as soon as i hit the off button). Rooted it, installed a different 4.1.2 firmware, same thing. Then I tried ICS, it was worse - I had similar issues as well as the home key was not working when multitasking. So I went back to original backed up rom. Everything works fine now but the baseband version remains from the last "update". Everytime I try a new firmware and go back to the original rom the last baseband sticks.
My question is: Is it at all possible to upgrade my phone? My kernel (from backedup rom) is I9100XXKI3 and build number gingerbread.XXKI3 Imei is fine.
Also my binary data counter is up to 7, is that bad?
Any help I will greatly appreciated! I badly want to upgrade, it's the whole reason I got S2 because it was supposed to be "upgradeable"
Thank youuuu.

Read every word of a thread at least once before even attempting anything then make sure you have all the files you need ready to be used in their relevant places too and try again. When People claim to have read lots of tutorials and guides that have worked for the majority of People but can't get something to work then it's usually down to user error, i.e skimming through guides and missing a vital step that throws the whole thing off.

You can reset it with a usb jig or triangle away app in the playstore... ( the app doesn't work always...)

Thank you guys for the replies however do you know anything about my weird issues, like the lockscreen not working after update, then no network service and the power off dialogue missing completely. I've tried at least 3-4 different jelly bean firmwares and always i got the same issues.
I live in Kosovo and i downloaded the Greek firmware which I'm going to try next. I'm going to go through pelpa87's thread you suggested and hopefully it will work and I will report back.
Thanks again.
Edit: thanks for the help guys, last night I installed jelly bean and it works great without any issues.

Flashed an incompatible ROM. Able to get into download mode. Now what?

I rooted my sprint Note 3 when I first got it three years ago and flashed it with a custom ROM. I used it for a year and then got a cell phone from work, so I basically stopped using the Note 3 except occasionally. I decided the other day that I wanted to try updating to a newer version of android on the Note 3. It's been a long time since I messed around with rooting, ROMs, and such, and I did not pay close attention to what I was doing and flashed a ROM that was incompatible. When I restarted, I got a Set Warranty Bit Kernel error. I can get the phone into download mode, but I'm unsure of what to do next to get it back to a usable state.
Is there a guide somewhere to walk me through this process?
Thanks!
Solved
Well, I got the phone working again. I basically followed this guide I found. I tried to paste in the link but I'm still too much of a noob. Anyway, it was on android central, and part of the url was how-flash-stock-rom-via-odin-new-interface. Hope that helps someone.
There was one step not covered in that guide - odin kept saying that the md5 value was invalid. I found a youtube video that said to change the extension of the firmware (it was .tar.md5, changed to .tar). After that, it worked and my phone is back.

There's guides everywhere on this site! Just gotta find the right ones lol. Makes it that much better when you finally find em. Next time make a complete backup of your phone first. I like to use TWRP, you can download it directly from the Play Store. I got my Stock Firmware from this archive:
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-N900P
Make a backup of that then flash away! It'll be a lot easier/faster to recover with TWRP. What ROM did you flash to yours? Just curious cause every one I've tried had multiple issues to where I wasn't even able to use half my phone smh. Then I root it with CF-Auto:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2466423
Through Odin:
http://odindownload.com/download/#.WYX1A4jyuyJ
Then I make a another separate TWRP backup of my Rooted Stock Phone just in case lol. Lemme know if you run into problems again I'll try to help find it and/or fix it. The more problems I deal with the more I learn! :fingers-crossed:
Might wanna get a USB storage or something too cause ALL these backups take up time and space. (My external SD Card slot hasn't worked for awhile!)... does yours?
