i9300 or not? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This might be a silly question but are all the gt-i9300 quad core? I ask because I have seen people on eBay posting supposedly i9300 and on the description it says dual core

The international version has quad-core processor (Samsung exynos 4) and the US variants have dual core processors (the Qualcomm snapdragon s4)

I guess whoever posted those spce doesn't know the difference between I9300 and US variants

I know about the dual core versions, but my question is that if the i9300 is exclusively quad core

I guess that the best explanation

A german thread says:
http://www.areamobile.de/news/21805-samsung-galaxy-s3-quad-core-version-mit-lte-vorgestellt
US Version Dual-Core MSM 8260A (Qualcomm), but with LTE
European Version Quad-Core Exynos 4412, but "only" HSPA+
Korean Version Quad-Core Exynos 4412 with LTE

Going to get an S2, some questions

Hello, after the death of my Evo 3D, i'm thinking about buying a GS2.
How is it? Do you suggest it to me?
I have some questions about battery and building quality, how are those?
Make sure its i9100 and not some i9100G

Its 1.5 because of snapdragon 3 chipset and its weaker BTW
And also have different sections so the roms here are not compilable with them

Wait, so the T-Mobile version, the 1.5, and it has a weaker processor than a 1.2? How so? And what do you mean "And also have different sections.." as in CDMA and GSM sections?

Clock speed doesn't really matter
exynos 4210(1.2 Ghz) is better than snapdragon 3(1.5 Ghz)
Just google search for it
You will get 1.5 ghz(weaker one with less dev) on at&t
From t-mob you will get epic touch 4g(same as international in hardware but different buttons and different section)
So its better to buy i9100 international unlocked sgs2 if you care about development
Dont buy it noww..
Wait for sme rtme and get the Samsung galaxy S3....
SGS2 is now a year old...

Just the same thing with cameras and megapixels.

There has been no official word on the dual core version the only reason there is some speculation was because something a Samsung executive said when he should not have and a device profile for Verizon.
Now don't get me wrong here I still thing the US LTE versions are going to have the S4 chipset but I am going to keep my hopes up and pray to god we don't get an HTC One X clone(Hardware Wise)

Do what everyone else has done, read the reviews and posts, they will answer 99% of all "will it......" questions.
Don't mean to pick on you and I will say I am sorry if that's how I come off but the sections are really getting cluttered with some useless questions. I enjoy reading all the reviews and watching the videos of people who already have them in their hands. It's very informative.
can any one can make me understand that why samsung will use a dual core processor instead of a quad core processor for LTE?

The S4 has a built-in LTE modem, Samsung has not yet made their own SoC with a LTE modem in it.
Basically they would have to make room for a LTE chip, and instead of doing that they simply opt for the S4 with the built-in LTE modem.

Because the hardware for lte isn't currently comparable with the quad core.

thanks too all of you to make me understand what I've asked.
samsung has promised to give LTE service in some selected countries. but one of you has said that LTE is not capable with the hardware of s III. then how it'll be possible to give LTE service? can you please make me understand?

The change is processors. The US versions have a dual core processor so they can support LTE. Any other version with LTE will also only have a dual core processor.

I think we need a thread that compare dualcore A15 vs quacore A9 once a for all so people can stop complaining that they didn't get a quadcore.

Quadcore meaning

Guyz sorry for being a noob. I have a small confusion about quadcore does it mean that every single core has been clocked to 1.4Ghz or does the 1.4Ghz work is distributed to every core. Again sorry for being a noob.

Each core can go up to that, including all simultaneously.

International vs US roms

Been looking at some roms. With the difference of the quad core and the dual core would there be any issues with any of the rooms currently available?

NONE of the GT-I9300 (International GS III) ROMS will work with the North American Dual-Core GS III variants. Period.
Sorry...the current roms I have been reading about such as Foxhound have been used on the SG3 that have quad core processors. The US version has dual cores. Is this a factor when choosing a rom?
Does that help any? Thanks

What cpu is really in my amaze

cpuz reports qualcom snapdragon s3 scorpion
Wikipedia says its the apq8060 variant
Cpu identifier says it is the msm8260 variant
This forum says msm8660
Also most aosp roms dont set scorpion but rather cortex A8 for compiler directives.
Curious as to the actual hw in my amaze.

I know for sure that it's a Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 msm8660. That's according to my knowledge. The VilleC2 (Non-T-mobile) One S C2 has the same chip. That's how we can port Sense 4 a bit easily. :good:
S3 msm8660 i guess

There are 3 variants of the s3 scorpion from qualcom.
Getting mixed messages as to which one my phone has depending on application or documentation.
Just curious. From a kernel point of view it is a msm8660.
From many applications like cpu identifier it says msm8260. Wondering if that is a carrier difference from tmobile. Mine is telus.
Moreover can I tweak rom builds accordingly.
Cheers
