Does anyone have one of these products?
What they're supposed to do is receive DAB, DAB+ and FM, using a bluetooth connected receiver that your headphones plugin to, and you use the app DAB GO!
The product is here, with quite a hefty price tag:
http://www.lingodab.co.uk/product_iVy.php (the Android one is the yellow one)
If you have one, are they good? £70 with no reviews isn't overly tempting. The only suitable review is with the actual app page, where someone with a Galaxy Nexus says it works fine, but the app force closes a bit
Thanks!
No-one? I guess I'll be the first to buy one then

Haven't got it yet, waiting to get funds to do so. When I get it, they'll be a full review on the XDA RC blog. Also, if you get it, PM me and I'll send you my themed version of the app with it themed to look like the "holo" UI in ICS/JB
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I received one today so this is only a preliminary review.
Looks-wise: The casing seems a little cheap and bulky.
Functionality: The app is ok but it force closes every now and then. They can't spell 'Tuning' properly ('Tunning'). The device also has a built in mic so you can use it to answer calls though it's a bit bulky to wear on the front of your shirt. Normal music also streams through the device.

So I'm looking to pick up an "mp3" player. I put that in quotes because I want to be using my music service on it... not just play actual mp3 files. Obviously my phone works great for this but I'm looking for something small that I don't really care about taking out on the trail/river/etc.
Anyway, wondering what the smallest, android based player might be that has some active xda development. I love custom roms on my phone so would enjoy hacking this device as well.
I'm looking for something with wifi... but NOT any cell capabilities - though obviously if it'll function fine without cell service then I don't care if it has them or not.
Right now, I was looking into the Archos 43. It's still kind of big though (4.3" display)... so I was hoping there might be something smaller out there with some active development.
Thanks!!
Not android, but a zune ?
Otherwise, I think Samsung released a wifi-only version of the Galaxy S, seemed pretty rad.

Not going to happen I'd say.
Most PMPs have only one sole purpose. Play Music. A screen smaller than 4 inches means, it'd be useless for anything else other than Music. I'd say go for an iPod that supports iOS apps.
I would buy a cheap android phone, stick cm7 on it and put it in airplane mode, maybe a zte blade (orange sanfransisco in uk) £70 new.

Yea, that'd do as well. But, sometimes, the sound quality of most mobile phones stand up to that of a mp3 player. That should be taken into account as well. As a thumb rule, Motorola phones have good sound quality.
Just search around if you want a phone. You might find even cheaper phones.
I'm looking for a thumb keyboard case to work with my Note 3. Something small that I will be able to touch type with without looking at the keyboard. Does anyone know any that they trust aren't a crappy product?
I did find this one, but I want to be sure before I buy it. http://www.amazon.com/TOP®-Bluetooth-Removeable-Detachable-Portfolio/dp/B00FRDVXHO
Why wouldn't you just use 1 of one of the gazillions of keyboards and mice that are out there (bluetooth)?

I want one that fits the size of the Note specifically. Not just a random bluetooth keyboard for any phone.
and I'm talking about a really small thumb keyboard. Like those on the old Env's

I know right! I've already dented my phone because they're taking too long! Ughh the struggle
I would like a slider keyboard case for the Note. To turn it into a Droid basically. Of course even better would be if Samsung made a slider version of the Galaxy or Note. I do NOT like onscreen keyboards or keys. Still miss my Droid 2 qwerty. Love TouchWiz but miss those lovely hard keys. There are still a lot of qwerty fans out here. Even if it was just an add-on case I'd buy it, if it was a very good quality product I'd pay up to 70 or 80 for it. But not for some some cheapo wallet case with an iphone bluetooth keyboard in it. Slim, sliding if possible, and nice big keys for the Note with good layout design. Anyone else dig it?

I'm not going to write long articles with it. Though if it's comfortable I might. I just want it for every-day texting and what not. I am a write, so my average text is never under the 164 character limit or whatever the limit is. And Idk why it would matter what swiftkey supports.

I know what would be just the PERFECT lil keyboard for you...the TREWGrip: Universal Handheld Keyboard and Air Mouse that's currently trying to get enough funding through their KickStarter campaign...THIS looks like just the keyboard for ya! Also, here's a short-n-sweet little review from NBC News for you. This new little device seems to have a lot of people either lovin' it or hatin' it, with most people leaning over towards the latter. I, myself, have never seen such a thing in the wild and I'm also not a big fan of keyboards, let alone keyboards like this one...but to each his own. At least check it out, as it's a very interesting new piece of technology that's at the very least worth reading about! :good:

We want a keyboard case so it can fit in our pocket. Thank you everyone for the links.. But a big bluetooth keyboard or that weird sideways keyboard aren't fitting in a pocket. The Note is already giving my pocket a workout! Well I'll wait for now, or maybe make one myself.
We'll be waiting forever. No one seems to be interested in making one... If you do end up making one please let me know! I will pay you for it.

Ugh I know. I'd be willing to pay a LOT. Like $70 or even a bit more if it was GOOD. Not hacked together. Though even if it was a bit hacked together if it worked and was relatively durable I'd pay near to half that. Yeah if I make one it probably won't be pretty lol but i'll keep you updated. I'll post how I did it if so. I'll wait a bit more and keep looking for QWERTY slider keyboard cases for the Note 3. I will post back if one is found!
Does anyone know of a solution for playing music on a headunit with the Galaxy S4.
I don't want to stream it via Bluetooth, I want a USB only solution for the best audio quality. I haven't been able to find anything as of yet, unfortunately.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Nevermind, I just found out that Pioneer supports MTP over USB with their new 2014 line up. If you're interested you can find it here: pioneerelectronics.(com)/PUSA/Car/CD-Receivers.
Kudos.

With the Pioneer units you can use both. Pandora is the one that they specifically support in their older App Radio/App Mode units. As you might expect, their support for iPhones is much stronger.
You can hack the app radios to mirror your android screen, never looked into this, just wanted to mentiom that cool little tid bit.

Very good question my friend, when I order mine I'll report back. I'll be thoroughly pissed if I can't and I'll certainly be sending Pioneer an angry message for skimping on such an essential feature. Why does it need to be such a headache to get these basic features? /angry.

O I remember when I was once skeptical of audio quality over BT but once you switch to using BT audio in your car...you never go back!
Just an update on things, no dice on the Android head unit. I installed it today and couldn't get it to read my Galaxy S4. I don't have time to fiddle with this crap everytime I get into my car so I'm not wasting energy on this falsely advertised POS.
Look elsewhere if you want a true Android compatible headunit, I'll be on the look out. If anyone has found anything feel free to chime in, I'm frustrated beyond belief. The difficulties to implement one of the most basic features, mind boggling.

You have a double din opening? Why not toss a nexus 7 in there. Not sure what else goes on if you don't want to use bluetooth, but seems you should be able to get audio to an external amp. I'm not buying soon, but I've seen some pretty sweet nexus 7 installs on youtube.

I'm actually installing a Nexus 7 in the stock navigation location (I have a base model without the navigation but the option bezel is there). I'm going to fabricate my own mounts and install the Nexus 7 overhead for navigation and OBD II monitoring.
I want the single-din radio to handle all of my music. I have an iPhone for music that I kept after I bought my Galaxy S4. The audio quality between iPhone USB and auxiliary is night and day and I don't want to sacrifice audio quality.
I started with an original pebble from kickstarter which was great to being with....
I moved onto the original gear and then the Gear Neo which I thought would be my long term smart watch... until the moto 360 turned up...
The moto 360 had everything I wanted but an issue between it and my Google glass has made me purchase the gear s...
And you know what?!? I love it and the moto 360 will be getting sold ASAP as I can't see myself using it at all...
The gear s screen is just gorgeous and the look on the wrist is quite futuristic and looks advanced which I love.
Here is a pic of the 360 and gear s next to each other.
Can't wait for more apps and clock faces to come out but for now I'm loving the lcd one I bought on the app store.

I am keeping both. I find the Moto 360 has a "smarter" look. It looks like a formal timepiece, particularly the silver one. The Gear S looks very futuristic. I wish they had done something more interesting with the strap on the Gear S. The Black version is quite plain, and the white version is rather loud! I am waiting for the Mocha strap to come out for the Gear S. But regardless of which strap, it will never look that formal. I do have the same issue with Glass vs Android Wear, but I think it will get resolved in a couple of months.

What can I say? I am a gadget geek
I need to stop buying every gadget going, but I do have a particular interest in "wear" technology. The most disappointing actually is Google Glass. Aside from the outrageous price tag, it attracts the wrong kind of attention in public places, and secondly, it relies on a window towards the periphery of your vision. We are not quite at the augmented reality yet, where a display is built-in to the lens of your glasses overlaying everything you are seeing....but I am sure it will be coming!

That's the original Gear. If you like that you can pick one up for under 100 bucks.
the first and the best
The first gear was my first as well and it is still my favorite although I have my Gear S for a month now.
The quality of the pictures it makes is super and it works great together with the galaxy S3.
Even with the Gear S you need to use a samsung with it for all the notifications, yes there are apps who can do the same but they don't work on my oneplus one.
The Gear S hasn't landed with me, even after a whole month, I miss the whatsapp app, the FB app to make the watch really stand alone and that fldjf**fdf Samsung must make a gear manager that works on all android phones and yess there other ways to (partly) come around that problem but I want all my apps to work and install other apps without doing magic tricks to do that.
Bumped for a link.
