ever since i flashed the latest version of the Jb leak i have no wifi, any ideas on how to fix this?
It's impossible to fix I'm afraid. Your phone is now practically bricked.
Just kidding, flash a stock based sammy ics rom and you'll be good to go.

i had my arse in my mouth then, is it a known issue, or have i done anything wrong?
Me too, no WiFi in cm 9 or cm 10.
It works only in stock Rom. (4.0.4 or in leaked Rom)

i flashed cm10 from stock 4.0.4 and wifi is perfectly fine

I used cm 10 without problem.
It happened after flashed the leaked Rom

Yes its a known issue. Flashing the leaked sammy JB rom seems to kill wifi in a funny way. Flash a sammy stock ics rom (or custom rom eg. wanam or omega) and your wifi will be fixed. You can then proceed to install JB AOSP or CM10 or whatever.

Just try it and report back.
If you get bootloops, you may have to to a factory reset in recovery mode (press Volume UP + Home + Power until recovery menu appears).
Good luck !

Of course there is Stock ICS but not official one. The latest one that is released for i9100 is XXLPJ ICS 4.0.3 firmware.
Now my doubt is can we just flash it directly over CM9?
Heard from one of my friend that in 'samsung galaxy s' we cannot simply restore CM7 backup over CM9. Firsly we have to flash CM7 over CM9 and then we have to restore the CM7 backup.
For S2, downgrading to GB from CM7 is fine. But what about from CM9? Can we directly flash ICS or do we have to come to GB first and then upgrade to ICS?
Actually I would have flashed it yesterday itself but am just waiting for some replies. Till today night I am gonna wait and then I will flash it and reply here.
Just get the phone to download mode and flash with Odin. Yes it can be done
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
I agree. I don't think there would be a problem flashing it. Just do a "full wipe" before.
Flashed the latest ICS (XXLPJ 4.0.3) and it is working fine. Thank you guys!

I did a wipe before flashing. So all data is lost obviously.
But generally whenever we flash any stock rom or custom rom all data will be lost, right?

It's complicated, but very generally speaking - yes.
I would still wait for a no-wipe cwm of the rom to see how compatible sammy ics and cm9 ics roms are
so im sick of the massive overheating issue when i do anything on my phone, so i want to roll back to the previous version of gingerbread i had. is there any issue if i just flash an official rom using odin? or is there anything else that ics updated, that could cause problems? i updated to ics through kies.

Could be that Kies also updated your bootloader.
Just try to flash an GB ROM.
If you experience any booting issue, you may have to flash an GB bootloader.
You can find the different bootloaders here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16781156&postcount=2
Just look for a grey box with red text.
You can flash the bootloader in PDA section of Odin - same way like for the ROM or kernel.

Heat issues usually solved by a wipe, modem change, kernel change.
If you have not wiped, it's a good time now, as you have to do it anyway when you go from ICS to GB.

Not possible till now.
Since rom is a leak.
Correct me if I am wrong though...
Nah not yet for non rooted. Cant wait for this update.
Can't get it unless you flash the leaked ROM. Still would stay official but apparently there's some GPS issues etc on stock kernel so I'd stay away if you're a non-root user

And for the thread starter, search the forums. It's not hard to find how to root and start flashing your phone.

Stop asking FAQ and go read the guides or use search. Obviously you're not going to be the first person to ask this so stop expecting people to repeat answers.

He didnt say it was. Even so, the rom was "released" to testers, and "leaked" to public. Only final is released to public.

This to me seems that Ben101 says "Stock jelly bean is still not released", which krayndr then declares "False!"
I work in software; I differentiate between a leak and a release. "Released to testers" is not a release. We send many builds to testers before we have a release candidate.

Not sure why you're directing this question to me; is it because I said I work in software? That doesn't mean I work in developing software specifically for this device, or even for Samsung devices in general...
But if you're having issue with a leaked firmware, doesn't it make sense to go back to a released firmware?

yes, u can do So ma8
but why we prefer GB > ICS > JB is that ur installation goes smooth without any issue and also rooting ICS is much easier (since lot of option's to do so) rather with GB.
but the choice is urs
PS- regarding EMMC bug it comes only with the stock kernel of ICS 4.0.4, while ICS 4.0.3 is safe from the same(EMMC bug)

Hi
First of all you need to root the phone. The best way to do that would be to flash cf-root compatible with your rom version. You can find exactly what your build is by checking settings > about phone
Find compatible cf-root kernel and put it in PDA in odin and flash... there are lot's of guides out there - won't be hard to find
Second, before you go further you need yoo updete your bootloader. So either flash ICS stock through odin (not recommended cause will unroot again) or flash bootloader through odin. Again there are proper guides for that...
Then you can upgrade to whatever you want...
Keep in mind that emmc cap bug does not exist in GB kernels. so you can use the CWM recovery in cf-root kernels for GB rather safely.
If you update to stock ICS then you need to keep an eye what kernel you're using to wipe data. Siyah and dorimanx are safe and I always use them.
Loads of roms out there, pure aosp, cm based, aokp based and the leaked sammy rom. Personally checked alot of each first three and also several versions of the leaked one... All good.
Word of edvice - do read more on those things. No matter how much expirience people who answer threads like that have, you'll never substitute your own knowledge and expirience.
Go on and root and enjoy the android world, mate. Best of luck
Ok, so ive had a couple of problems with my recently bought Sgs2, ive got all the other problems fixed except this one: when i turn on the camera app, the flash goes on and off once, the same happens when i turn off the camera. Its a very fast flash that occurs.. it doesnt matter what camera app i use, it does it everytime.. the flash does work properly during camera use if needed, and works normally as a torch.
It doesnt bother me much, but would be nice to get fixed..
Any ideas?

I have the same problem, that the flash will light up shortly when the camera app closed, and when I read the last comments it seems that this is a known issue for quite a while.
How does it come that this is not fixed yet. I'm using custom roms now for a few month now and from the beginning I was wondering about the strange flash behaviour compared to the stock rom.
Is it because there is still no official release from Samsung for JB or why is it so difficult to fix? Are the camera drivers closed source?

have u tried flashing a Stock ICS rom (v4.0.3) and seen for the issue
if not give it a try and see, just to confirm whether its really a hardware issue or a software one
nothing to loose though, if the problem gets resolved for u it would be fine right
do a clean wipe before installing.

I used to get that on my x10i with certain roms.Definitely a software problem.
Same issue here, came about randomly day before yesterday. LED flashes once, quickly, whenever something tries to activate it.
Only ever used stock soft/firmware, and Chainfire's kernel. Cleared all caches, tried factory reset, problem persisted.
Flashed to whatever the latest ICS is for H3G today, problem still persists, I shall try official kernel tomorrow, see if that fixes it -- I don't hold much hope.
