Hi
Recently I updated my firmware on my Galaxy S2 via Kies to ICS. After installation, I found I had a problem with the lock-screen not functioning and the power off menu not being there. I followed a solution found on here that involved rooting the phone using Odin , then downloading a terminal emulator app to allow me to type in some code to sort out the ‘keystr’ file error. This resolved my problems and things were looking good. However, I then found I couldn’t connect to Kies! So I reloaded the drivers and attempted to unroot (a rooted phone isn’t a big bonus to someone like me who uses it as a just phone/internet access device….I don’t even play games) by using the option is SuperSu.
Following this, I managed to connect to Kies and reloaded photos and music (although it wouldn’t do it using the restore function)…some of the pics won’t display (though they do on my PC if I connect via Kies Air?
Following this, I decided my wife could Bluetooth me a pic that we use as a screensaver, however, I now find my Bluetooth won’t switch on!
I also find that SkyGo still says my phone is rooted?!?! SuperSu will no longer function as a binary file or something is missing…..and I still get the yellow triangle at startup!
It’s all getting complicated…how I wish I had stuck at Gingerbread (like my wife is going to do after seeing all the hassle I have had).
Can anyone please tell me what I can do to rectify the problems? Taking into account I am no techno-junkie etc….what would be my best approach?
Is there something I can type in via terminal emulator like I did for the original problem?
Or should I totally unroot my phone (if so, is there a straightforward method)?
Getting tired of resetting and having to set everything back up again now!!
Please help!!!

FIXED
I downloaded via the app store an app called "Airdroid" which allows you to move files from your pc to your phone whilst both devices share the same Network!
Moved a new Rom onto my phone and rebooted it into Recovery mode
> Install Zip from SDcard located my main file and installed it.
applied the update the same way, after restarting ,it threw a bunch of random error messaged around so I used the app CWM which comes with the ROM
option : FLASH KERNEL
located same rom as before and installed it with CWM followed by a reboot I used the option Flash Update in CWM and updated Griskelo Rom .
SO thank god it worked no error messaged and my USB works again so Odin can get back to work
Most likely there is a much easier way but this is what I figured out myself and as this forum says before you sign up... You are a noob any ways !
lol
hope I helped somebody with this and hope someone else posts the easier way beneath this
After unrooting, by installing stock and then updating, from Samsung, to Android Jelly Bean 4.3, I am unable to get the computer to see my phone when in download mode. Further, when connected to the phone by adb, when I issue the command, to reboot in 'bootloader mode', it just does a normal restart. I need to unroot because the phone's IMEI is corrupted and I want to use the efs backup to get it reinstated. I don't know of any way to root that doesn't require 'Download Mode' to work.
So, in summary:
The phone is currently not rooted, it has stock Android 4.3.
I can access the phone via adb.
I also have Android SDK on my computer so have the availability of 'fastboot' in addition to adb.
I can switch to Download mode on the phone, in the normal way, but the computer can't see the phone when in that mode.
Please can anyone advise on how I should proceed in order to root the phone, given the above constraints, or regain the use of a working 'Download Mode' ?
Search for many similar posts on pc connections to download mode, there isn't one solution.

Thank you for your reply. Despite the quote, I had already searched and I had not come up with a solution that worked. That is why I posted a question. All the stuff about trying another socket and it could be the lead are basic. The lead is perfectly OK - I used it to flash the stock ROM. Then the phone failed to connect in Download mode. I've use both Linux and Windows in a Virtualbox to communicate in Download mode before. Both could see the phone in Download mode before I did the stock flash.
delete all samsung driver
rebbot windows
install driver
Thanks for the suggestion. The non-connection also applies to Linux, which is the host system, so it isn't just a Windows problem. Previously I could use either OS with no problem.
However, I did, by chance, find a solution, not a good one but it works. I have to disconnect the battery for a long time - minimum time not known. I tried 10 minutes and that didn't work so I tried waiting a much longer time. I am then able to use download mode for one instance. Then it becomes unusable again so next time I have to go through the battery removal process again.
By chance I found a similar post where a similar stock install had resulted in the same problem. So I posted my solution on there also.
Hey guys. I've rooted a few phones before, but I've recently purchased this Posh Equal S700a phablet running Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat. However, I cannot root this device for anything in the world. I asked in the XDA assist forum and was directed to this subforum. I've searched around the internet and can barely find anything on the phone, let alone a proper rooting method for it. Does anyone know of a way to root this phone? So far I've tried:
iRoot
-----------
I've tried both the mobile APK and Windows application. The Windows application doesn't detect my phone, even though I have the drivers properly installed. Only USB_DIAG shows next to the picture of the iPod USB cable, but when I click the button to start the rooting, it says no phone is found. The mobile version of the app claims that the phone has been successfully rooted when I press the Root Now button, but the phone never actually roots. Sometimes I will get their version of the SuperUser app installed to my device, but after running a Root Checker app, it says that my phone still isn't rooted. As a matter fact, if I run the iRoot SuperUser app, it will even tell me that the phone isn't rooted and that I will need to run the iRoot application again to reroot the device (but this never works).
Kingo
---------
Kingo actually detects my device and gets to the rooting process. However, when I get to the fastboot menu, the phone will reset once more into the fastboot mode, then restart one last time to take me back to the homescreen. By that time, the Kingo pc app will say that the process has timed out and ask for an email address so that they can send the report to the developers.
Root Genius
---------------
Did 15 minutes of resetting and installing suspicious looking apps. I deleted them and ran a virus scan after the application failed. Anyway, the application kept saying that it successfully added files and was transferring the necessary root files to my phone, etc. Every 5-10%, the device would reset and keep attempting to do the same thing before ultimately quitting at around 80% and saying something along the lines of "Your phone is really tough, do you want to manually root?". From there I get directed to a site in Chinese.
Towel Root

FramaRoot

There was also another oneclick flash tool that I tried, but I can't remember the name of it right now. I will have to check when I get back to my Windows desktop. That app also hung early in the process as well after detecting the phone and identifying the basic info such as model number etc.
Did you ever figure this out?
I just go the S700A as a backup phone and would like to root it or upgrade to 5. Did you every figure it out?

somebody knows how update or find stock firm for this phone?
I rooted using Dr.fone, now I need a ROM - help XDA, please!
6/16/18: I had Dr.fone installed on myPC so I USB'd into my Posh Mobile Equal L700 and the app found it. It did give me choice of only a "Mediatek" or "Samsung" phone. I was brave and chose Mediatek. The app ran for awhile then showed Root Successful.
Just to check I downloaded RootChecker app from Google Play Store and it shows the phone is rooted. Also, Malwarebytes now keeps giving me the message it is rooted and may be unstable (Oh yippee, that makes me feel good....not.)
Now I am stuck at flashing a new ROM on this device and can't find one that works. Search on YouTube for ROM for Posh Mobile Equal L700 by Sheena Rodriguez - I am prevented from including the actual URL in this posting b/c I have not done 10 posts yet. However, every time I try it, (and apparently I am to download directly into my phone and not into my PC then use a USB to get it to work, but I'm trying that next, even though I have no idea if that is a real "thing"), it comes with a "blocker" page that tells me I need to "try" one of two apps and then the install will finish. That seems way off to me.
Does anyone out there have a reliable ROM to refer me to? I am absolutely raw new to this so I really need a "do this FIRST, second, etc." instructions.
P.S. - a tech from Posh Mobile just told me this phone is no longer supported, even though I'm still within my one-year warranty, and then when I questioned him further he told me Posh Mobile no longer exists. I think the phone itself has decent bones and could still have a lot of life in it, but it REALLY needs a new ROM....
Help!
-sincerely, geogat.
Hi everyone,
This may be a challenge for smart phone genius' out there (kudos to the clever person that can help me). Here is the scenario... I bought a new smart phone from Wallmart a few weeks ago (SAMSUNG model SM-G550T2). Yesterday, I decided to try to root it. I was able to root it successfully (no problems yet). Later, (after I had messed with the settings, like a dumb noob) I rebooted the phone and I get "Custom binary blocked by FRP lock" and of course it won't start. So, that said, I started scanning the internet for a way to fix this (and at first I was encouraged by all the info). Here is what I have, unsuccessfully, tried. Installed the Kies3 program on 2 different PCs. Both said that my phone was not compatible. BTW, I tried the original Kies program also and it would not connect. ODIN worked fine but I could not locate an image file of the stock firmware for this phone (maybe it's too new, I don't know). I can get the phone into DOWLOAD mode but not RECOVERY mode. If someone can help I will be eternally greatful.
YouTube on 5 stock firmware link plus manual and link to USB driver and Odin. under YouTube name rootandriodz. he even has a ROM tutorial. Im sure there are other postings as well. just in case you dont trust the first one you see. good luck, i have the same phone..
Here you go:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AshkuG2cY1T0xPZArSsy6iO1e_UnPw
This is a zip file with all the tools and files you need and instructions on how to use them.
What it covers:
Restoring bricked device (as long as download mode still works)
Unlocking bootloader (firmware dependent)
Rooting (any firmware)
Installing a custom recovery (any firmware)
Installing a custom ROM (any firmware)
I made this because all the guides for this phone were seemingly outdated, and some required tools and files were incredibly hard to find. Didn't want anyone else going through the pain I went through to break this phone open.
Thank you so much for uploading this. The charging port on my Nexus died and I have to use my old Note 2 as a backup, but I forget how this old piece of junk works. This should be very helpful.
I rooted and flashed twrp to boot to a triangle saying system software not authorized. Tried 3 firmwares and wont boot correctly. I got error about firmware update failed use kies... Kies won't do anything and kies 3 says unsupported device. On the 3rd firmware (root66 rooted stock ) firmware file I now am back to the original triangle system software not authorized by Verizon ..
How do I fix this?!?

Did you read my guide? You can't flash TWRP unless you successfully unlocked your bootloader with Casual, otherwise you are limited to SafeStrap. Also you can't restore with Kies, you have to use Odin and the files I've included to restore.

Nice to see people still looking for something like this, so my guide wasn't for nothing!
I was geeked to see this!! but then i got "This item might not exist or is no longer available"
I take it back.. i let it sit on the "failed" page for like 2 min, and randomly it popped up with a download!
Well the auto bootloader didn't work, so now i'm at the root section. However i'm getting an error where ADB isn't detecting my phone. USB debug is on, and i'm definitely in media mode and not installer. The phone shows up in windows and looks good, but adb doesnt detect. I opened command prompt and ran adb /? and found adb devices -l, and it reports "list of devices" and theres nothing in the list. I can't imagine why it's not seeing it. I tried turning on and off debug mode, switching from camera mode to media, changing usb ports. still nothing comes up, but windows sees it fine. grrrr
*edit, well since we can't delete posts i'll leave this here, because i have to. But what i did was re-open the "no you verizon" and it showed DISCONNECTED also. I changed usb ports like 3 times, turned usb debug on and off, changed from installer mode, to camera, to media mode, restarted the phone and the computer multiple times.. and then it just all of a sudden was detected again. So i went with it and it seems to have worked.
-it took 3 times to actually work, you noted it may take multiples, and it sure did. I ran it through the command prompt so i could read the text, and it took 5 times longer and reported much more stuff when it actually worked.
-final edit: if you can't unlock your bootloader, you're still stuck with ditto or alliance from 2014, and lots of apps won't update on android that old. So if you thought this guide was some holy grail, it is not. But still useful if you need the assist, so thanks to the author.
Hi, total noob here, I just bought Verizon note 2 at a yard sale but there is a pin I don't know. When I went to do a factory reset it booted into TWRP, so I am assuming is rooted. Do I need to be able to get into the phone to use your tools? I know nothing about TWRP. I would like to install a newer Android version and unlock it so I can use TMobile. Thanks
Something wrong...
when i try to load this file from the packages folder i get an error message:
"md5 error! Binary is invalid"
none of the other three works for me. they all come back ailed.
any suggestions?
awesome! thanks for posting this, just found my old note 2 and want to get it up and running again for the kids.
Kudos!
Used this to get my Note 2 up and going again temporarily until the Pixel 4a release...
NOTE: I had strange issues with Odin on my modern X570 board (USB 3.2 Gen 2) where I did not receive any errors, yet the process would randomly seem to time out. Sometimes I'd get stuck at flashing boot.img, sometimes it would hang up at the start, once I got to flashing system.img and it seemed to hang....
Used an older PC circa 2013, no issues! Not the first time I've had issues with this newer motherboard and older USB flashing interfaces; had the same issue on my Note 8 (RIP) as well.
excited to try this.
I'm on some rooted 4.4.2 stock-looking rom. Recovery doesn't look custom.
Hoping to be able to install a working Oreo or Pie ROM
great post, bought a couple of these for almost nothing and am having fun playing with them. sadly they are both 4.4.2 but its great fun anyway.

Thank you for sharing. Always difficult to find those tools after a few years!!!
