Need help fixing a bricked phone (tough one) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
This may be a challenge for smart phone genius' out there (kudos to the clever person that can help me). Here is the scenario... I bought a new smart phone from Wallmart a few weeks ago (SAMSUNG model SM-G550T2). Yesterday, I decided to try to root it. I was able to root it successfully (no problems yet). Later, (after I had messed with the settings, like a dumb noob) I rebooted the phone and I get "Custom binary blocked by FRP lock" and of course it won't start. So, that said, I started scanning the internet for a way to fix this (and at first I was encouraged by all the info). Here is what I have, unsuccessfully, tried. Installed the Kies3 program on 2 different PCs. Both said that my phone was not compatible. BTW, I tried the original Kies program also and it would not connect. ODIN worked fine but I could not locate an image file of the stock firmware for this phone (maybe it's too new, I don't know). I can get the phone into DOWLOAD mode but not RECOVERY mode. If someone can help I will be eternally greatful.

YouTube on 5 stock firmware link plus manual and link to USB driver and Odin. under YouTube name rootandriodz. he even has a ROM tutorial. Im sure there are other postings as well. just in case you dont trust the first one you see. good luck, i have the same phone..

Samsung S2 giving probs after ICS upgrade

Hi
Recently I updated my firmware on my Galaxy S2 via Kies to ICS. After installation, I found I had a problem with the lock-screen not functioning and the power off menu not being there. I followed a solution found on here that involved rooting the phone using Odin , then downloading a terminal emulator app to allow me to type in some code to sort out the ‘keystr’ file error. This resolved my problems and things were looking good. However, I then found I couldn’t connect to Kies! So I reloaded the drivers and attempted to unroot (a rooted phone isn’t a big bonus to someone like me who uses it as a just phone/internet access device….I don’t even play games) by using the option is SuperSu.
Following this, I managed to connect to Kies and reloaded photos and music (although it wouldn’t do it using the restore function)…some of the pics won’t display (though they do on my PC if I connect via Kies Air?
Following this, I decided my wife could Bluetooth me a pic that we use as a screensaver, however, I now find my Bluetooth won’t switch on!
I also find that SkyGo still says my phone is rooted?!?! SuperSu will no longer function as a binary file or something is missing…..and I still get the yellow triangle at startup!
It’s all getting complicated…how I wish I had stuck at Gingerbread (like my wife is going to do after seeing all the hassle I have had).
Can anyone please tell me what I can do to rectify the problems? Taking into account I am no techno-junkie etc….what would be my best approach?
Is there something I can type in via terminal emulator like I did for the original problem?
Or should I totally unroot my phone (if so, is there a straightforward method)?
Getting tired of resetting and having to set everything back up again now!!
Please help!!!

ZTE Mimosa Mini Root...

So, I have this phone.... (in attachment)
I tried everything I could to root it. It was bought few months ago in local mobile store, locked on gsm network and so on.... It just can't be done, at least not by me. All I need is to root it, I don't need to put custom roms and so on. I need root because I want to use some apps, that require it and I want to delete some apps that came with phone.
It has android 2.3.5 if that helps...
I was told it can surely be rooted as it has recovery (or whatever it is called when you hold Volume Up + Power) and those who told me it is possible said they could do it if they had the phone...
I also have android system info installed so I can give you much info about the phone, just, please, someone, help me
And this is the exact phone (commercial from local network provider where I bought the phone) (since I can't post links just add this in you tube after "=" )
Vrpb9TfXXc0
P.S.
At least some tips and if you could tell me where to find ADB drivers (I found some, but, I am not sure they work, how can I check that?)
Well no one posted, but while working with some people on the other forum (one is quite famous on this one) we established that the phone is vulnerable to levitator exploit (at least android x-ray says so).
Shabbypenguin made a script but we get an error. (attachment - pic is from other user who has the same phone and he tried running the script. I tried to, and got the same error)
Any Ideas?
tried everything possible without success, only once by an Italian user on xda (pajerm)
ok pajerm did it, you can find here on xda

From bricked to custom ROM in 2019 (GUIDE)

Here you go:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AshkuG2cY1T0xPZArSsy6iO1e_UnPw
This is a zip file with all the tools and files you need and instructions on how to use them.
What it covers:
Restoring bricked device (as long as download mode still works)
Unlocking bootloader (firmware dependent)
Rooting (any firmware)
Installing a custom recovery (any firmware)
Installing a custom ROM (any firmware)
I made this because all the guides for this phone were seemingly outdated, and some required tools and files were incredibly hard to find. Didn't want anyone else going through the pain I went through to break this phone open.
Thank you so much for uploading this. The charging port on my Nexus died and I have to use my old Note 2 as a backup, but I forget how this old piece of junk works. This should be very helpful.
I rooted and flashed twrp to boot to a triangle saying system software not authorized. Tried 3 firmwares and wont boot correctly. I got error about firmware update failed use kies... Kies won't do anything and kies 3 says unsupported device. On the 3rd firmware (root66 rooted stock ) firmware file I now am back to the original triangle system software not authorized by Verizon ..
How do I fix this?!?

Did you read my guide? You can't flash TWRP unless you successfully unlocked your bootloader with Casual, otherwise you are limited to SafeStrap. Also you can't restore with Kies, you have to use Odin and the files I've included to restore.

Nice to see people still looking for something like this, so my guide wasn't for nothing!
I was geeked to see this!! but then i got "This item might not exist or is no longer available"
I take it back.. i let it sit on the "failed" page for like 2 min, and randomly it popped up with a download!
Well the auto bootloader didn't work, so now i'm at the root section. However i'm getting an error where ADB isn't detecting my phone. USB debug is on, and i'm definitely in media mode and not installer. The phone shows up in windows and looks good, but adb doesnt detect. I opened command prompt and ran adb /? and found adb devices -l, and it reports "list of devices" and theres nothing in the list. I can't imagine why it's not seeing it. I tried turning on and off debug mode, switching from camera mode to media, changing usb ports. still nothing comes up, but windows sees it fine. grrrr
*edit, well since we can't delete posts i'll leave this here, because i have to. But what i did was re-open the "no you verizon" and it showed DISCONNECTED also. I changed usb ports like 3 times, turned usb debug on and off, changed from installer mode, to camera, to media mode, restarted the phone and the computer multiple times.. and then it just all of a sudden was detected again. So i went with it and it seems to have worked.
-it took 3 times to actually work, you noted it may take multiples, and it sure did. I ran it through the command prompt so i could read the text, and it took 5 times longer and reported much more stuff when it actually worked.
-final edit: if you can't unlock your bootloader, you're still stuck with ditto or alliance from 2014, and lots of apps won't update on android that old. So if you thought this guide was some holy grail, it is not. But still useful if you need the assist, so thanks to the author.
Hi, total noob here, I just bought Verizon note 2 at a yard sale but there is a pin I don't know. When I went to do a factory reset it booted into TWRP, so I am assuming is rooted. Do I need to be able to get into the phone to use your tools? I know nothing about TWRP. I would like to install a newer Android version and unlock it so I can use TMobile. Thanks
Something wrong...
when i try to load this file from the packages folder i get an error message:
"md5 error! Binary is invalid"
none of the other three works for me. they all come back ailed.
any suggestions?
awesome! thanks for posting this, just found my old note 2 and want to get it up and running again for the kids.
Kudos!
Used this to get my Note 2 up and going again temporarily until the Pixel 4a release...
NOTE: I had strange issues with Odin on my modern X570 board (USB 3.2 Gen 2) where I did not receive any errors, yet the process would randomly seem to time out. Sometimes I'd get stuck at flashing boot.img, sometimes it would hang up at the start, once I got to flashing system.img and it seemed to hang....
Used an older PC circa 2013, no issues! Not the first time I've had issues with this newer motherboard and older USB flashing interfaces; had the same issue on my Note 8 (RIP) as well.
excited to try this.
I'm on some rooted 4.4.2 stock-looking rom. Recovery doesn't look custom.
Hoping to be able to install a working Oreo or Pie ROM
great post, bought a couple of these for almost nothing and am having fun playing with them. sadly they are both 4.4.2 but its great fun anyway.

Help: QFIL gives Sahara Fail while trying to flash V7+ (vivo 1716)

Hi good people, this is my first post since I don't know where else to go.
My phone Vivo V7+ received an OTA update, so I downloaded and installed the updates, but after updating my phone now can't detect SIM card, I tried many different good SIM but still can't be detected.
I tried factory reset but failed, can't revert back to old firmware.
So I spent many hours of researching and watching YouTube tutorials and I tried to flash stockrom via QFIL. First I encountered problem going into EDL mode (which I spent hours of researching too) but solved it by shorting pinout at the back of the phone.
My laptops detect my phone qualcomm 9008 COM3, downloaded two V7+ stock rom and when I tried to flash via QFIL it will always give "Sahara Fail".
Some methods I tried;
1. Putting firmware at bin folder
2. Renaming folder into shorter name
3. Click download fast as soon as phone gets into EDL mode
4. Tried unlocking bootloader via adb but failed
5. Turn on airplane mode in laptops
Hopefully someone can help , thanks.
Anyone? Help? Now i lost my IMEI and i don't know what is the original number
While probably flashing wrong files you wiped baseband data .
To fix your imei you will need this QCN file which you can download from here:

Good luck
Thanks @Teddy Lo for replying. All I did was followed the steps how to flash stock rom and I did downloaded the rom of the same model. But the steps that are floating around are not in great detail. And many YouTube tutorials are not in English almost 99% are in Hindi.
After my attempt of flashing I lost my IMEI and I don't have the box anymore (threw them away long time ago, lesson learned).
I guess I need to visit the nearest Vivo service centre for repair.
Thanks again for replying and providing necessary links.
Hi , why you give up so easy ?
1. Download this firmware :
https://www.mediafire.com/file/1f5r...xx.0_msm8953_split_Repairmymobile.in.rar/file
Once you downloaded extract to Desktop ...
2. Now , Run Qfil tool with Administrator and insert each files to right places .
See image bellow

Select just the way I marked it in the picture!
Let me know if you fixed or not ...
Wow thanks @Teddy Lo for replying.
Why am I giving up? Maybe because I scouted forums and YouTubes for hours and day, and when I tried it on my Laptop it keeps giving the same error over and over.
The big problem now is that I lost my original IMEI (whis is stupid of me not talking note of it before doing anything else), and I threw my box long time ago.
I'm gonna try the link you gave me and let you know how it goes. Thanks.
Hi @Teddy Lo, so I tried flashing again and I didn't get "Sahara fail" this time but instead I got "Firehose fail".
Oh well guess I'll be visiting Vivo .
Thanks again.
SOLVED.
I went to Vivo service center and told them to wipeout everything and downgrade firmware to the previous version and they did it in 20 minutes.
Now my phone is working normally and they got my IMEI back.
Admin please close thread.

Can't bypass Password and can't hard reset my Tablet ( Samsung Tab A6 ( or also known as 10.1 ) ( SM-T585 )

I have a problem with my Tablet ( Samsung galaxy tab A6 ( or also known as Tab 10.1 ) ) Model : SM-T585 where I wanted to set a pattern to secure it , however as I finished setting it up I turned the screen off then on to test it somehow however it says the pattern is wrong even though it is the right one ( I literally just made it ) and if that ain't bad it tells me everytime I insert my " wrong" pattern to wait 512 mins , USB debugging isn't allowed , and I can't hard reset because mdm doesn't allow so , can't load to Bootloader , and can't fastboot so I can't use adb shell or fastboot commands , all I have access to is ADB sideload and apply update from SDcard ( stock recovery not a custom one like TWRP ) , This tablet was given to me by my organization which I can find reasonable as to why those aren't allowed but the problem is that the organization has removed its access from it as to set it as a gift for its workers sadly that update wasn't set in my tablet through knox although there is an update in software update I can't run it because of lock screen , I went to Samsung and they said they couldn't unlock it due to security policy as they don't want to violate them .... I hope I can find a fix to this complicated problem as how to bypass the password or even reset the tablet and hope I provided the suitable Info needed .
I'm assuming you've already tried ODIN. What about SM-300K to force download mode? Then can use ODIN. Or any of the various tools one can find. Something like Halabtech Tool, Miracle Box, Uni-Android Tool, etc..
Or physical hardware like UFI Box

I did try odin indeed no luck , as for UFI Box it is unavailable to be purchased from my location .... I tried SM-300K ( Knox blocked Computer ) so I decided to trick the device by restarting and clicking the resistance button .... it worked as for the program but still it didn't switch me to download mode but instead restarts the whole device to normal boot ..... halabtech tool can't use adb because usb debugging is disabled , as mentioned above Knox disables Computer interference so I switched to adb sideload just maybe yet no luck , using the android tab where I found TWRP I saw a TWRP sideload so I tried to give it a try ..... it loaded but obv signature failed so basically nothing is done
I do have a Theory , maybe if I can find a software that can sign the zip for Samsung or some package to disable Knox or a verified TWRP that could be installed using adb sideload somehow or maybe trying to bypass into fastboot ...... There is also a software update that I believe might Factory reset since my friends had an update installed that factory reseted their device without Knox ( since they also left the company ) since it is an update specific for our company I am not sure how can I download it with that broken pattern or using adb sideload ( dunno where to download that specific update )
out of my wheel house then. Your skirting into having to JTAG it by hand and manually flashing the eeprom and nand
international shipping from china

is there no hope for another solution , maybe a way to sign a zip file to flash using adb sideload ?

I've not heard of a way to sign zips for this particular problem. If there were a way to replicate a verified non genuine OS file for Samsung devices the company would have abandoned KNOX and shifted to a new method. KNOX has been around for almost 10 years now. The NSA certified it and started using it for their devices. I'm honestly surprised it's lasted this long though. Same with ODIN. There been using that since Android was released, maybe before. The old flash tool for the Razor V3 in the mid 2000s reminds me of ODIN.
Anyways. You could try heimdall. Maintained by Glassechidna. Unless you can find a fork, the last release version was 5 years ago. That's around the time of your device, slightly after. I've never used it myself, but I've read some people swear it can do more than ODIN. Maintained by Someone in that thread might point to more ways to force DL mode. That's the hiccup.
I wish you the best of luck. I feel for you. I get obsessive and spend unhealthy lengths of time when it comes to solving tech problems I have. I'm also prone to snap and have a pure rage "**** it" moments, end up breaking it into prices, and go out to buy something else. That's happened several times over the last 25 years actually.
Hope it works out for you.
