hey guys,
i recently rooted my xperia s and im now on the KA speed 11.1 rom w/ 5.1 sspeed kernel. I just want to find out what you guys think is the optimal setcpu profile settings for a rooted Xperia S. By optimal i mean (extended batt life w/smooth lagless operations and less cpu heat)
thanks in advance!

I overclocked to 1.89 , scaling is ondemand
Smoothness : very , very smooth
Battery life : the same for me
Cpu heat : Only when playing mc3 for 2 hours

And use AnTuTu cpu master , its more stable :good:
Before you doing something that can make your phone burn it is better for you to search an info about it. And there is a step of doing it not just simply swipe it to maximum clock. That is why the devs always remind us to take our own risk of overclocking. You can read more detail info from this link.

*Sorry for my english*
Overclocking the maximux cpu frequency doesnt mean heat/battery dies
It only increases the maximum level of what the frequency can reach , so if ur just browsing or watching utube or playing 2d games like angry birds , the fone wont run at the maximum overclocked frequency , so no effect will occur , but if u play a heavy game like modern combat 3 and u have overclocked , the cpu frequency will jump to the maximum and will cause heat after a while and more battery usage
Thats what i think
check my thread in the general section

no necessary to overclock
hey guys...i bought my SXS with android 2.3.7 ....3months ago....bootloader unlocked...rooted...and really...2x 1,5GHz is totally enough for your device...even Shadow Gun runs perfectly smooth without overclocking.......but if you have installed a custom rom...you will get lags e.t.c ....if so...download chainfire 3d from google market....free ofcharge...install the driver and everything should be ok now.
if you want to overclock....i advice you to use cpu tuner...uses a bit memory...and you may choose how many cpu should run....i prefer to select just one cpu " in settings...use dual cpu.....deactivate" ....and then overclock it...you will get a nice performance and a little more battery life.
hope it helped
Has been using SetCPU for the last one day on rooted stock ROM n it really boosted the phone's performance.. Plus one of the weird thing is dat it actually saving battery.. I ws using juice defender & GO Power at the same time but wasn't quite getting da performance.. But now SUPERB! Attached are the screen shots of my SetCPU profiles.. Try it now lemme know =) ~

Hi, i have a question about setCPU. Can it on rooted XPS with Stock ICS kernel (build 6.1.A.2.45) control CPU voltage?
Or it's a limited feature available only for custom kernels? I have a locked bootloader so no custom kernels for me
Thanks (don't want to buy it now a regret it)

No voltage control on any stock kernels for any devices. Only custom kernels offer that.

i have st15i .42 locked boot loader. after rooting and installing a few mods/modules like usb storage, status bar power widget, cwm recovery, im experiencing lags in light/medium games like piggy adventures or fruit ninja. i also have some lags in menu scrolling. any idea about the reason and the solution?
thanx in advance
Test Overclock
If your device you might use a root app for overclocking and another to kill the extra RAM used in the background. Use the CPU Overclock Tuner : Dto do a test and using Antutu Beckmark and make sure your points are higher. If you did then esiver overclock and can improve desenpenho of games. I use Advanced Task Killer to kill free RAM : Cool:. Can there be anything better question search

thanx for all your attention and help. no i havent over clocked my device. V6 supercharger looks cool. im gonna give it a try. but its a bit strange for me, my room mate's mini is rooted but doesn't have these problems.
ive checked my memory during games. i had a lot of free ram, what can be the reason of lagging except low ram?

All governors and everything related is explained in this post.
I think smartassv2/noop is a good combo... It has a good battery/performance ratio.
also savagedzen/sio isn't bad....
Please dont post questions in the Development Section...You have the General Section for that...I request the Moderator to move this thread to the general section...Thank you... nd regarding ur question...I use "SmartassV2" without tweaking the I/O scheduler...
For this chipset i like SMartassV2 & deadline (SUPER FAST+STABLE)
But 4 Gaming its nice to hv Lagfree & VR (DEADLY FAST+...NOt SO STABLE , especially if u overclock also they might be heat issues)

errr. i thought i posted this in the general section?? seriously i thought i did..
on the other note. smartassv2 seems to be used by many. i shall give it a try
So i tested out the recommended settings from you guys
XPERIA MINI . ST15 . antutu benchmark scores . over clocked my cpu to 1516 with voltage control.
my current set up interactivex/sio (score 3951)
savagedzen/sio (score 3911)
smartassv2/noop (score 3991)
smartassv2/deadline (score 3953 )
lagfree/vr (score 3953)
not sure whether antutu is best app to test out but yeah.. lol btr than nth i guess
1.5GHz is not the best frequency for the Mini - it causes the CPU to freeze frequently. Even 1.4GHz frequency is not the best. 1,3GHz and interactive governor is the optimum for my Mini - fast, responsive, no lag, no freezing, 2 days of battery life.

seriously watch out with OC that high.
You can easily fry your mainboard/CPU and than it's goodby mini. Better have a mini that work's than having a fried mini...
at least watch the temperature.
just my 2 cents...

hey man thanks. i didnt really know what freq to set it to.. what would you recommend. the guy above ur post said 1.3 is good. agree?
First of all, ask yourself do you REALLY need OC. Or are you just doing it because you can
I personally think the mini is sufficiently fast on it's own?
But if you must OC then install a temperature monitoring app and let it warn you when the phone gets exceedingly hot.
Because if you play a game while OC-ed, the temp might jump real fast real high.
And by the time you figure that, the phone could fry.
I definitely wouldn't go over 1.5GHz. Even that's real high. 1.3GHz seems to be ok though
I run 1.8 with Brazilianwaw & bfq 24/7

btw how do we know that our phones are overheating?? mine is usually around 28-35 on normal usage but when gaming it goes to around 40++ is that ok?
I think 50C would be maximum... Still don't keep it at 50C all the time.
There is no safe stuff.
Overclocking is dangerous in every damn way.
No one wants to brick their phone, they don't play with OC. Besides, performance boost is quite small, pointless to waste the juice.

hi guys,
i got a K17i miniPro, now have to choose the right Firmware
my usage will be: mainly Trillian, some daily-use Apps, OSM Navigation sometimes.
so i dont need eyecandy-blingbling fullysocial integrated Walkman stuff; so i dont want a Stock ROM
i very love CM 7.2 (Android 2.3.7) on my Ideos X3, but i heard CM9 should be more better
so... can you tell me please
what combinations are you using?
how are you using your phones?
and how long does your battery last finally?

Well,I m on MESA 1.6 Kernel and Stock ICS ROM at the moment and battery life is pretty good.
It ranges between 16-18h with heavy use up to 36-40h with light use of the phone.
They key thing is getting rid of all the bloatware that stock ICS has, plus using profiles as far as CPU
clock and Governors are concerned.I m sure that you know all the other tricks like a lower than 50%
screen brightness and Synch OFF and stuff like that.
Hope I helped.Good luck! Experiment and you ll find a good combination of settings.
N.
before installing any custom rom you have to first unlock bootloader then after flash underclock to increase battery lifetime
I did read somewhere that rage kernel is the best for getting the most battery life! Gnna try it soon !
Also use smartassv2 as ur governor with noop ... Underclock ur processor a bit
( I use mine at 834 MHz, runs smooth) ..u can always bring it back up if u feel like your phone is getting a little laggy.

I have tried both CM7.2 and CM9.0 RC2 on my XMP. CM9.0 RC2 still has some bugs. I have installed it twice. It boots ok but I have got two severe problems. There is a weird screen at the very first boot which tells you to input SIM lock key. I couldn't get past this screen. Another time, the launcher didn't load no matter how many times I rebooted.
I tried CM7.2, the ROM is very good and usable. But I don't know why my battery drains too much fast. I flashed the ROM while my phone was fully charged and also wiped the battery stats. But no good, the battery drains way too fast.
You can try kamarush's MiniCMSandwich Lite AOSP with Rage kernel or Krsh kernel. Very good ROM with very low battery drain.
I was using CM9 Stable on my XP Mini for the past week.
Battery life sucked really hard in comparison to MESA Kernel/Stock ROM.
We re talking about 10-14h for a full charge using Data (3G).
I m back on MESA/Stock again.
N.
Try Extended stock kernel with miniCMsandwich lite.

CPU max: 768mhz min: 249mhz
I lowered voltage by 50mV for all frequencies with "system tuner"
Governors: scary, smartassV2, interactive, brazilianwax. SmartassV2 is the most popular all around governor.
I'm also using "perapp" application. It allows me to set different CPU frequencies individually per application. e.g. when I enter a demanding app, it upscales the max CPU freq to 1ghz...
Try to use a light ROM, or simply remove bloatware manually.
Consider GB since it's less resource demanding, less lag and faster then ICS.
Xtended stock kernel{ICS} by expeacer has a good batt consumption. Rage for GB&ICS also.
For CM7, you can use ported Rage kernel by user greenalgae.

I'm not sure how far you can OC this device, but the reason they usually underclock slightly is twofold, heat and battery life. The higher the CPU clock speed, the more heat generated, and the lower the battery life.

SetCPU is probably the most popular and to be 100% honest Overclocking is harmful to these devices there is a reason why HTC decided to place the clock speed at 1.5GHz... there isnt enough cooling provided to really push it past the limits but to each thier own I guess... Ive done it before and I really havent found it to increase the overall usage to my device... I had my old phone OC'd to 1890MHz and the only thing that changed was the benchmark numbers the normal day to day stuff still stayed the same like switching between apps and what not...

I agree with that. I'm mostly interested in lowering the CPU speed for better battery life. Was curious of what everyone was using. I currently have the NoFrills CPU Control app. Although it is very basic, it does the trick. I've been running 1ghz max and battery life has greatly increased. If I feel the need for speed, I just set it back to 1.5ghz. As you said, I haven't found a need to go beyond that.
Same here, OCing increased benchmark scores but no noticeable difference when using it. And when it got hot (really fast when OCing and benchmarking) the thermal protection pulled the reins in and scores plummeted.
You just need to get rid of the bloat and unused services, or install a slimmed down rom.

Hi.
Several days ago my sola started to lag by itself, almost all the time. Recently I found out that the CPU usage was very high (ex: using governor performance the usage is 100% on 1.0 GHz, using powersafer it's 100% on 200Hz, using hotplug it runs around 80-90% on 200Hz or 1.0GHz, sometimes around 60%).
I also tried changing the I/O scheduler, it's not really working.
Sometimes it works normal, but mostly are when charging.
I'm a real noob for such thing.
Please, I beg of you, help me fix this problem, whenever this happens my heart broke.
Note : It's rooted, using Speedy kernel v5.5 or v5.0, I don't remember, Project GX Gaming ROM v5.0.0.

If i got u right u are using custom ROM?
Try to set back original one, that may solve your problem. I would suggest to stick with GB instead of ICS on Xperia Sola.
I am not a pro with all this stuff, but I was facing few problems with updating to... Downgrading to GB solved some of them
how s your battery life?
It depends on what governor I'm using, but that's not the main problem here.
It's about endless CPU usage for nothing that makes my phone lags all the time. Even it lags as hell right after boot now.
I'm about to change to Galaxy Y now though.
No need to do that... Everything is fixable... Mine works like a charm... No laggs at all.. Only thing I claim about is battery... Notice that there is no perfect phone around... And sola is not the worst one. But it s up to u to decide...
Good luck
