So due to unforeseen circumstances I'm getting a replacement for my Vibrant from T-Mobile. I have flashed it back to the original T959UVJFD rom, however, the boot screen still says "Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000" before it says Vibrant. I'm fairly sure this is not the stock boot screen. Does anyone have a backup of the original boot screen for the Samsung Vibrant?
Well the bad news is that you need to reflash the bootloader to be truly back at stock. If you just want the screen to say Vibrant you should be able to find the "fixed" JFD odin rom.
Here is the old bootloader section.
Just reflash the 3rd Gingerbread bootloader on the list. Not the green android or the rainbow in eye. That should give you stock look.
If you're referring to:
JFD ODIN File - For use after installing Gingerbread Bootloaders
MD5: 977E2136996E7138945447A8245D6776
The multipload.com link redirects to a demandprogress.org page.
Does anyone have a mirror of this file?

Unless you mean this one:
GINGERBREAD BOOTLOADER DOWNLOAD LINK
- MultiUpload Download Link
- Mediafire Download Link
MD5 Sum - b34df5c2db723eacc534013a011885ad
Sorry for the confusion. The multipload.com link redirects to a demandprogress.org page, and the mediafire link is only the md5 sum.
Can anyone provide me with a mirror? Please?
Here is a direct download of the Froyo Stock Bootloader. Just click it, download it and you can flash via Odin per the Bootloader thread's OP instructions.

Information from s15274n
When you want to go back to stock, you can go the development section and find a stock JFD ODIN/zip, but I always just use the ALT METHOD below. It's always worked well for me personally.
This method will give you a stock Froyo + Root (no further action needed).
*** ALT METHOD ***
STOCK JK2 WITH ROOT ALREADY ENABLED
This method can be used to return to stock if needed. It can also be used for someone who is stock and wants to get root. If you are using this to gain root, please pay attention to the very last step about wiping
I prefer to use the method above to root, and this to return to a stock rom.
You can follow ipeench's thread (CLICK HERE). Be sure you download the right zip for the 2.2 leak (it is not obvious to me in the post). This is the thread used in the video (see video below):
UPDATE: When you download the files from the link above for JK2+root, there is an older version of ODIN included in that zip. I would NOT use that version of ODIN. Please download this updated version (it has never caused an install hangup on me like some older ODIN version can do):
ODIN 3 V1.7
Below are some videos I took last night. They are NOT the best, but hopefully it helps. One thing that may sound confusing is when I show how to use ODIN, at the end I state that I'm going to show how to root... well, this version already has root, so no further action is needed for obtaining root (thanks Eugene)!
This is a video of me going to the leaked JK2 via ODIN
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMSF-SumO3k
Here is another youtube video showing ODIN. It is flashing the JFD build (what the Vibrant originally shipped with):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnY7P14JSWQ
Here are the written steps you can follow if the video was not helpful:
I DID NOT INCLUDE THIS AT THE END OF THE VIDEO, BUT YOU MUST DO THE FOLLOWING:
Go into Recovery... Wipe user data & cache
then reboot
Now you can enjoy 2.2

odin is samsung's proprietary/internal software that can hard flash your device. odin may be used whether or not you have already rooted your device, and it will absolutely clear all your data in your internal sd card. to operate odin, you first need to obtain a rom flashable via odin (usually zipped in .tar file).
alternatively you can revert back to stock kernel/rom while you still have your device rooted. you can obtain a rom flashable via clockworkmod recovery (cwm), a bootloader software that can be installed on a rooted device, and just flash it. once you flashed your device back to stock rom, then you can unroot it so that your device is 100% back to stock.
all rom packages both odin flashable and cwm flashable have kernels, roms and modems in them.
look into sticky threads in this and development forums and you will be able to find detailed instructions on how to flash using either odin or cwm recovery. do some research and get yourself familiarized with the process. it's pretty simple as you've already flashed.
Go download ODIN and browse the forums for the files you will need. There is 512.pit file you will need and you need the JFD.tar file to enter into the PDA section of ODIN. Once ODIN is downloaded open, it's an exec. file. Once ODIN is open turn phone off. Plug USB cable that came with your phone into drive, hold down both Volume Down and Volume Up buttons and plug cable into phone. Display should say Download Mode in Yellow and have Android with a shovel. On your computer you should see in first box a Com Port open up either COM 3 or COM 4, doesn't matter. You should see some check boxes underneath the COM. Check the one for Repartition. Click the .PIT button and search for the 512.pit file you downloaded and click the PDA button and search for the JFD.tar file and click start. It will run through the process and when it's done you will be back to stock like you took the phone out of the box. Any questions and I can email you all the files and instructions.

Hi,
When I used my own made Micro Usb JIG, to reset the binary count, i am getting download mode with the following texts on top,
FACTORY MODE (in red)
PRODUCT NAME: GT-i19100
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: YES (2 COUNTS)
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
I have made the gig after properly checking the resistance and all, (100K X 3 serially soldered in to 4 & 5 pins)
I don't know why I am not getting odin mode instead of "factory mode" for resting the count and to appear the text in green "erasing download information succeeded"
I have not read any such experience of anybody yet, if somebody has, please share with any solutions ...
[[email protected]
you should not be getting into odin as it is an application no a mode that you need to connect your phone to.
If you have successfully used the jig you should be in download mode. I would check your jig again making sure that you have the right pins connected. The phone sees your jig but is not processing the information properly.
hey, can you post a picture of the Jig you made just to check it
Also, what firmware are you currently on? Newer bootloaders on official firmwares (2.3.5+) were patched so the jig doesn't work on them. You have to flash the old bootloaders to get the jig to work. See Intratech's official firmware thread.

Yes I am getting into download mode but with the "FACTORY MODE" connectable with odin through PC, I checked its added there, but my concern is to reset my binary counter, which I could not, if my pins of usb jig were incorrect I should not get the download mode. But what I watched in youtube is, as soon as Jig is conneced it should get downlad mode in ODIN MODE and saying in green text "erasing download information succeeded"

My current firmware is JPKJ2 routed by CF root v4.4, I managed to delete the yellow warning as directed by Chainfire in his thread, flash stock kernel through ODIN, and flash CF root kernal image from CWM application. now warnig desappeared and Current Binary showing Samsung official. but when I connect my Jig its is same FACTORY mode.....no reseting.
My phone is only one month old may be the new patched bootloder is the matter, Could you tell me how to flash old bootloader safely...
our concern is the reseting of the binary counter and the warrantee, if I flash a new bootloder it may reset counter but, can they identify the flashing of old bootloader.
thanks

I would be grateful if you could answer my these doubts too.
1) If Samsung release the ICS through KIES will I be able to receive update on my CF rooted firmware.
2) is the complete package coming in flashable MD5 file containing bootloder too?
3) do the roms coming in zip file CWM flashable include all Kernal, Radio etc...?
thanks
1) You should be able to get Kies upgrades if you're running a CFRoot kernel over stock firmware. Obviously if you put a non-stock rom on your phone, you'll need to re-flash/go back to stock if you want firmware upgrades via Kies. You can also use Checkfus (search on here for it if you ever need it) to check/download official firmware that's normally available via Kies if you can't use Kies for some reason.
2) Yes. Any roms you download in tar (with md5 hash attached) format normally contain bootloaders (the one's available in Intratech's threads do, for example).
3) That depends on the rom. Refer to the particular thread relating to the rom/or wherever you download it from if you don't get it from here with regard to what's included with the rom. But yes, normally, most roms are packaged with the rom itself, kernel & modem.

Noooo you need to flash the old bootloader not kernel.
Go check out intratechs official firmware thread. Start at 1st post and read down till you get to where he talks about the bootloader and provides a link to the bootloader.
Hope this helps.

I have used Odin to load Tar File: JFD and Pit file. Or just used Vibrant AIO and Odin through their. Everything loads fine, but when it boots I just get a black screen. I touch the soft keys and they light up. Some say it is a kernel issue, but I just do not know. Any help on this is welcome.
I have tried different versions of Odin, but nothing seems to work.
I wanted to try this, but the link is not working for me. At least I cannot get to MultiUpload for some reason.

I can't link it bc I am mobile but if you go to the Vibrant section on Rootzwiki, Br1ckd's ICZen thread bottom of OP or post #2, you can find Eugene's rom
Thanks. Their is another post on XDA, but it only on MultiUpload. Is Multiupload down? All I get is a white screen.
If anyone could mirror when they have a chance that would be great!
Multi went down shortly after Mega went down.
Go here and download it. Or here if you don't want to stray away from XDA.
Thanks my friend! I was able to get into a ROM! However I discovered that I did not need it. I will use the ROM for emergencies in case I do. I found out that I pushed the wrong Update.zip file. I installed the root_update.zip and not cwm_update.zip. I do not think the root Update works well with Eugene's ROM anyway. Once I did that I was able to get ICS back up.
However I still have the Froyo Bootloader, and would like to update to Gingerbread. I tried flashing the GB bootloader, but it errored out looking for the PIT file and had to re-flash to stock. I will try again later, but just happy to get the phone working.
With a JIG this phone I would say, like most of you agree with, is very difficult to truly brick!
Thanks again all.
My Note was running ICS installed from Kies. I attempted to root via You Tube video. I flashed a .tar file via odin that was intended for a Note on Gingerbread. Now I am stuck on the Samsung breathing screen. I am able to boot into download mode so I think there is hope... I have searched the forums and think I just need to flash stock ICS kernel but can find it??? Links? Thanks in advance.

It appears that you are up and running again....please look at the "note super everything thread" located at the top of the general section..
There you will find all of the current rooting, flashing threads for your device....
Then read, read, read, and read some more so you fully understand the process, and could do it in your sleep. "Then" you will be ready to jump into kernels, modems, and custom roms....
And for future reference, Please stay away from youtube as an instructional video.....while they make for good entertainment, they often lack the technical side of the installation process, and can leave out important steps in the process...getting users jammed up with no help available...
We are happy to help you here, anytime......g
