4.3gt bootloop - HTC EVO 3D

I am quite frustrated as to why this wonderful ROM will not fully boot. I get to the lockscreen, and then it reboots. Anyone have this issue. I've searched the forums and tried a few things I had found there, and I even tried to flash version A, which also bootloops.

What is your hboot version? Are you s-on or s-off?
I ask because GB ROMs won't boot on the new 1.58 hboot.

Yes, but if you're s-off, it's easy. Just flash it in bootloader. If you're s-on, I think you have to get s-off first.

[Q] S-off or S-on ?

What exactly are the benefits of gaining s-off ??

With S-OFF you can flash PG86IMG.zip files from SD card in bootloader (ICS firmware, radio...), also you don't have to always flash boot.img via fastboot after flashing of new ROM.
Forgot I something?

To add to this, s-on seems to not play well with ics. Most of the issues people have with ics not working right or bootlooping come from s-on users. I highly recommend s-off if possible.

Yeah, you should definitely go with the tutorials for S-OFF if you are flashing new Roms, and expertimenting with your phone. For the most ICS roms, you have to flash new firmware packages (PG86IMG.zip), and you can do this if you are S-OFF.
It means if i have s-on i can't flash every rom but if i gain s-off it allows full compatibilty?
Am i right ?

I would say go with S-off. I had S-on and it took so much work to get new roms and it was just a pain in the butt. I am now running revolutionary S-off and am using 4ext recovery so i can easily put on new roms in just a few mins. I hope i helped.
Ah crap i just reported this thread for posting warez by goddamn mistake!
My bad
Keeping on topic: I'd say definitely S-off and there is loads of threads on how to do it. Just have a read through them all and try it out, ask for help if you need it and someone is bound to help

But 4ext recovery is available on s-on !
S off makes it easier to flash roms along with any kernel . Best route to go.

I have two EVO 3d's one is s-on and the other is s-off, both running 4ext touch recovery and both have the same experiance and the same battery life, no extra steps needed to flash roms or kernels..only thing is that only signed packages can be flashed through the bootloader, other than that...no difference.
S off is a life saver. It just is. No matter what HTC does if a dev can get s off for my device. I'm doing it.

[Q] Anthrax Leak Kernel Problem

Im S-ON So When I Try To Flash A ICS ROM I Also Have To Flash The Rls Kernel. Well Unfortunately I Haven't Been Able To Try ICS ROMS Becouse Whenever I Try To Flash The Kernel It Says It's A Bad Package And Won't Flash. I've Re-Dwnloaded Multiple Times And Its Still Just Not Working. does Anyone Have Any Advice?
CDMA or GSM? What are you using to flash? What rom are you flashing? and why are you using that kernel? It's a little outdated...

CDMA, 4EXT, A Couple ICS Roms, And I Am Useing The Kernel Becouse Since I'm S-ON I Have To Flash This So I Dont Get Reboots On Startup And Such. And You Say Is Is A Little Outdated So Is There A New Kernel For This Problem?
Have you set up 4ext to know that you are s-on? I thought since that option is there, there is no need to flash a kernel separately? I'm not to sure as I am not s-on. And I don't think there is another kernel right now. but most ICS roms run best on the stock kernel for now.

No I have not, I've been unlocked since the beginning. I know the downgrade method is fairly easy now, but still tricky. The Juopunutbear I hear doesn't require you to downgrade. So I'm not sure, just read up on both threads and see which you are more comfortable with. If you don't want to, I'm sure someone else will chime in and give more advice on your current problem.
I've tried the hboot downgrade and its was so much easier than I'd expected. After finding the right files for my phone, the whole process took me about 20 mins. Hardest part was pricking the phone LOL. After that it was just load closeones's toolkit, and it pretty much does the rest of the work for u. Just read the guide 4x and watch some YouTube view beforehand.
I did a lot of reading and read 1000x diff guides on how to flash and used so many diff flash method to het my phone out of bootloop. So by the time I got fed up and decided to downgrade, i had some decent flashing experience.

My buddy and i were one of the first among to attempt the bricking method
(scary as hell at first) and it was actually very simple. And i say first because we had only seen a few who had officially posted about it i could be wrong lol my laptop if dual booted with Linux so all i did was set up my other computer and ran the first set on that one, then ran the linux part on my alienware. The worse you can do is brick it- but then again thats what you want. I accidentally upgraded my firmware and now im 1.5 S-OFF lol doesnt bug me at all but my wife's 1.4 S-OFF as soon as mine was done. just read, read, READ before you attempt it and make sure you have every code written down or copied and its cake man! no shame in trying

I am on the same version. I just unlocked the bootloader via HTCDEV and installed TWRP through fastboot. Then I installed ROM that was already rooted. Worked great, just sucks with our new HBOOT not being able to achieve S-OFF. Not a huge deal but I love flashing between ROMS that require me to flash kernels through fastboot and not fond of the extra step (Between Sense and AOSP roms that is)

Not to speak for him, but all he is saying that since you are S-ON u need to flash kernel (boot.img) separately when u flash roms for it to install correctly without bootloops.
There are a number of ways to do it. The new mean rom has an auto kernel installer so u don't have to do it separately. U can also use flashGUI apk available on the market to do it, but make sure u learn how to use fastboot command prompt before doing so.
Lurk some, you will find it if you search forums. I am S-off, so I am not familiar with any off top of my head. Sure any rom u want to install will have at least 30 posts about people whining the rom didn't take bc they're S-ON and have to be redirected to another link.

It is not possible right now to have s-off w/ hboot 1.19. It is a possibility in the future that it could happen, but you really don't need it if you learn how to manage with S-ON. S-off really only eliminates a couple minutes at most to flash kernel is all. Plus to flash New radios you need to relock and run RUU for latest firmware which will also update your hboot on S-ON.
A few headaches, but nothing you can't live with. Good luck.

tampered/locked/s-off [solved]

If you have s-off, you don't need to unlock. You can flash things through the bootloader. What are you trying to do? Recovery? Update firmware? Once you're s-off through Lazypanda or Dirty Racun you keep s-off.

I thought I would start a thread to help people that sent there DNA out to get JTAG s-off and now are trying to flash a custom Rom.
If anybody want to put there experience on here so people know the steps and the correct way to handle the bootloader.

The purpose of the forum is to get the right info I've seen conflicting points on whether or not you still need to unlock the bootloader after s-off.
My understanding was that once your s-off you don't need to unlock because it bypasses the bootloader security checks. I am probably wring but I was hoping to get a clarified answer with this forum what do think choochoo

Just got my phone back from the JTAG service and this was the exact procedure. Flashed the ENG boot and then flashed recovery. Bootloader still says 'LOCKED' but allowed me to flash.
I've JTAGG'd 18 DNA devices so far on the OTA update (I do this on the downlow due to specific "developer" who can't understand how to get all phones to take the RIFF JTAG flash software.
Flash ENG Hboot if you want the options available to it, though not mandatory. Install a root program (SuperSU is my recommendation), then flash a recovery.
Immediately backup your current setup, then go for any ROM you see fit. Profit.
