I REALLY WISH PEOPLE WOULD POST QUESTIONS WITH A Q. AT THE START.... This thread nearly made me wet...... hahaha

1. Put Galaxy S III in plastic bag
2. Take hammer, and hit the Galaxy S III inside the plastic bag

Don't listen to everyone in this thread. They're just giving you a hard time. I to upgrade you RAM.
1. Obtain a PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Mechanical Engineering won't hurt either as you might need to redesign parts of the phone, just get an Associates here.
2. Obtain a certification in IPC micro soldering and get some hands on experience.
3. Buy the same Ram from the USA SGS3 tear down guide.
4. Simply solder on new ram, rewrite brand new drivers, make a custom aosp rom to accommodate these changes.

i heard you can insert an micro sd-card behind the sim card..
but only class 20 and above

Send it to me, I will do it.

They're pulling your leg.... Easy answer is no, you can't increase the ram in your SGS3...
If you are still gung-ho then use SlimJ87D's answer...

im gonna go with putting it in a plastic bag and smashing it. sounds like the most sensible thing to do to me. anyone else with me?

I think our device is just fine with the amount of ram it already has.
I mean it runs better than anything I have had before and its down right awesome to use.
There though might be a solution where they have swapped out partitions of the sd card to use as ram before but not sure if its been done on here

This is not a laptop or a pc where memory can be added..!!!
It is a electronic device, so be sensible. And I know that 1 GB RAM is more than enough for the SGS3 international to run, although a 2GB and 4-core phone would have been nice. But things does not always work the way we like...
2-Core --> 2GB RAM.
4-Core --> 1GB RAM.
So it does have its ups and downs.
LOL.

hey guy...check this website..they provide downloadable RAM for FREEEEE...
http://www.downloadmoreram.com/
This website was not discovered by me but by some other user...I have downloaded 4GBs of extra RAM..and now my S3 is so fast..you can see in the pic below..

i've been using JoelZ's unofficial cm9 all day and if you don't mind not having a camera, it has the potential to be a great daily.
Meh, I need 4G for a daily driver, hence why it feels like development had slowed to a crawl for me.
Anyway, just picked up the AMD FX 8-core for my MAME/media center arcade cabinet. Wonder how high I can clock it with my air cooling setup.

Same. Have had some wifi connectivity issues but other than that everything works. Battery life sucks but that will get better as development progresses. Facebook sync not working is bugging me but I'm assuming that's on FB's side, they need to pick up the slack. I can live without a camera for a short time but since my girlfriend lives in another state currently, camera for video chat is a must.

I understand that it is miles behind the Intel Core iX series, but the fact that I'm using it for emulation in an old arcade machine and the price I paid makes it more then justifiable. Got the CPU, a good motherboard, a Cooler Master radiator, and 2 huge fans for it, all for around $250. I'm using the hard drives, DVD ROM drive, power supply, and old ati x1300 from my old computer (the ASUS motherboard decided to crap its own BIOS out).
Don't ask me why I'm still using an x1300, unless you can find me a true ATI HD 4xxx, I need it to display the 15khz horizontal refresh the arcade monitor needs to sync.

No NFC?!

I just got off the phone with Samsung and they confirmed my hunch that the Galaxy Note does NOT have NFC capabilities.
Why would they include it in the skyrocket and then drop it in the newer note?
Do you think it could be because of the way that AT&T is going to handle NFC by requiring a special SIM card? Will the SIM card take over the NFC of the phone?
Does anyone know anything about this?
We have the NFC chip in the back cover. Its just not enabled.

Near Field Communication (NFC) will be available on this phone

I am hoping this will be opened up at some point with later releases of software, custom or not. I would love to slim down my actual wallet.

I had seen that but had also seen people saying that it didn't have it which is why I called Samsung. Just conflicting answers so I went to the source. Now I'm not sure why Samsung would say it doesn't have it when it does and is just inactive. My initial questions are invalid at this point as the users above have pointed out that it does have it and I posted the picture showing what I assume is the NFC chip.
That being said... I really hope that one of the great Devs around here can cook something up that enables it. I used it on my skyrocket and am missing it.
IMO, the ROMs should be created from the Canadian versions...or at least have the stuff you need stolen from them.
NFC is active
Can turn LTE on and off
Have S Planner
Those are three I can think of off the top of my head...there may be more.

My guess, NFC will be made available with the roll out of the iPhone 5. Of course, that will essentially give the iPhone exclusive use of the feature for at least 6 months while it's slowly rolled out to older phones that have it disabled. (not that Apple would ever make a deal to stymie the competition so it looks like they were an innovator of something)

ton's of uses... not just payments.
one of the skyrocket guys has a tag set on his night stand that he set up to do a number of things when he sets his phone on it...ie turn volume down, turn on alarms etc etc ...all just buy setting the phone there
Open the back of the phone up, look at the inside of the back casing, the thing attached there with the 2 contacts on it is the nfc chip or radio. We have it, its just not active on the stock ROM but I assume will be on the ics upgrade or custom ROM as some have already pointed out.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
nothing works with NFC unless you happen to live in a bigger city, and not even then usually. It's just a check box feature on phones. It may have a place in the future, but currently there is no use for a majority of people.

There's a reason behind this.
Your phone is meant to run at a certain dpi, okay, so you might be able to easily change it but that doesn't mean you should. The whole per app dpi thing is just fussy. Changing dpi basically screws with market compatibility.
Put it this way, when CyanogenMod were going to implement cornerstone into CM, they were urged not to do it by Google. So ugly hacking of the framework probably violates several AOSP policies.

I know about those things. K900 explained me. I don't hate any devs that think it's wrong. They're right. But, even that, I will wish a port of it. I think the most hard part would be WiFi and phone functionality from a port. Maybe I could see it would work. But no one should feel obligated (because no one is) to port it.

Happy now. Mine is low too. Stock Rom unrooted. But the others are right. Benchmark's are pointless. I know my phone is fast by the way it performs, not by what some program tells me. I also think that result is wrong. Now I'm not a programmer or anything, and don't even know what half of that **** is. But judging from the other scores, it's probably a bug in the program that's scoring that one result wrong. All the others look fine, just that one.

Here it is, mine is low too...
Im no developer but you know, Samsung has a non standard implementation of internal memory /external sdcard, so maybe that's why we get low scores...
Not important anyways, I have done some copying within internal memory and sdcard, and between each other, and it's very fast...
EDIT: Btw, comparing my scores with the the one from the guy above, there's a huge difference... Not that it matters anyways... Its only numbers...

Thank's man...
Well this doesn't test the sd card,it tests the /data partition that's why these scores look like something to be worrired about...
HEre is mine,
this app has no option to select internal /external separately
My values are totally on par with published photos (I got worried too, then I found this thread, God bless search) - I even changed ROM from InsertCoin to CyanogenMod 10.1 to see if it changes anything. It doesn't. Thanks for info, OP.
Galaxy S3 international, btw, I forgot how my signature looks like, lol...
Does that help ? got it yesterday while testing out lagfix (which i can say it does nothing for us, as we have proper trim support in our emmcs)
ps: Benchmarks are stupid, they don't mean anything and they can easily be faked with just the right settings / variables.

I have this question from the day i started to use this mobile. In settings > apps>running if you add up used and free memory my phone is showing only around 768 mb. But according to specifications provided the phone has 1gb of ram which is why i bought this phone. Does anybody else have this problem...?

My previous phones used to show exact ram memory in apps section.

Which previous phone models? Please list.
Every android reserves some RAM space for its internal processing depending on configurations, features and apps preinstalled. The reserved space is also in constant use. Some smart developers discovered RAMHACK Methods to exploit and save some RAM from it for many other models. Example O2X.
Sorry but No need for discussion for this common thing in all androids.

Thats huge difference. Strange how they sell it and how people buy it.

Dude. You mean storage?
Because 64gb of ram sounds much.... too much for daily use.
And to awnser thats normal windows 8 takes likes 20gb and then im being kind.
And yea was gone ask the same question why we only have 768 mb. Why other phone like galaxy s3 or htc one x. Have like 820 more.
And they have bigger procesor... why we miss so much ram...
Hope some ram hack. To have more ram. Runs always out off ram
Maybe its a good thing that less ram is available to us and more to system. Ive noticed that this phone is much more smoother and less laggy than my pass phones with same 1gb ram but with newer 1.5ghz dual core snapdragon s4 processor like the one s.

The reason why not all of the RAM is available for processes is either because something is mounted to a RAM-Disk, or the memory chunk is used as a frame buffer for the display.
this is bull**** anyway. everyone says that processor is using this 250 but as you dive in, processor and natice functions like system uses 250 of this 750. so you have like 500 free ram as most.

Ya, it sucks a little.
I think giving more ram to processor is good thing because i have noticed that my phone is much smoother than my friends androids such as htc desire x, experia p.
Do you think
after getting gelly bean update(which is promised by LG in first 6 months of 2013) is our LG P765 hardware capable enough to run upcoming android 5.0 i.e. key lime pie.
