Mirco-usb is loose - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

I have in my possession a nook tablet that has a micro-usb port that is too loose. Its so loose, it can't charge. Its still under that one year manufacturer warranty . The only problem is that its rooted. And have heard they wont fix it based on that. I was wondering what/how I should proceed?

un-root it !

I wish it was that simple. Its not charged, and theres no way for me to charge it to unroot. so I'm sorta in a pickle.

If you can't charge it I wouldn't think B&N could at the store. Take your replacement and be on your way. Someone referbing it may or may not ever notice but you'll be long gone!
Good Luck!

[Q] didnt know my eris could swim!

ive got an issue, i happened to drop my eris in a pool last night on accident. luckily it still works for the most part but i just came to find out that cant access my sd card but it charges just fine?? and my phone wont work in a call unless on speaker phone now... im really happy that it still works but not having access to my sd is kinda stifling being rooted, has this happened to anyone else?, cuz im really debating sending it back under its warranty,im just thinking itd be an easy fix and maybe cheaper than an insurance claim....
any feedback would be great....

if ur phone is rooted ur warranty is void
Your SD card doesnt work cause the card itself is probably broken and the microphone shouldnt work cause its full of water. Try taking it all apart (remove battery, sd card, case back) and put it all in rice over night. maybe itll dry out more. best of luck!

yeah usb toggle thru recovery dont work either. im really suprised it still works aswell as it does, my past three phones have died from drinking too much liquid but they were blackberries, the Eris is pretty indistructable! thanks for your help guys...
I've bricked 4 Eris's. Rooted with custom recovery. I walk into the Verizon store, say it won't boot and walk out with a refurb. They don't really seem to care. The last time the guy even gave me the link to the 1-click root app. They *may* check the water damage indicators on yours, but I wouldn't bet on it. Worth a shot at least.

id do that if i had a brick but mine is far from bricked; its just small minor problems that a good phone repair can do easily for proably alot cheaper.

Not that I condone such behavior, but they are relatively easy to brick... They'll switch it out free at the store. Claim it happened after the OTA.

Let the thing sit powered off to dry out. When I took my phone in for trackball probs they checked my water damage indicator.

Dood, call it in or take in. Lie to em, I'm on my 3rd, both before were rooted. first was a complete lie bc I was trying to get droid. But I banged it up after I got my replacement. I really don't care anymore about what's "right" especially for verizon. Use ur warranty..
Oh have you tried the sd card in another phone. That'll explain a lot if works or doesn't.

TB won't power on...

Hey guys,
I am rooted and was running bamf 1.5 remix with the leaked ruu. I was attempting to make a backup on CWR before i began to attempt to remove the sense ui, but while i was backing up it seemed to fail. I did a battery pull and now it wont power on. When the charger is plugged in the charging red light won't even show. Please help!!!
I had a similar problem from using a cheap aftermarket charger. The thing actually discharged my battery.
THanks for the help, but it cant be the charger. Took it in to verizon and they coudlnt even read the device. Is that a good sign because my warranty comes through the mail in 2 days but im scared that i might get caught for being rooted and get charged...
BTW i can't get into hboot or power the phone. its driving me crazy...
I feel ya, im not much help for the problem but the replacing thing I would destroy any hope of them finding out Ive rooted mine before I return mine, via back voltage to fry the phone or maybe ...ooops somehow i ran over my phone with mt truck......lol
A failed backup would not cause your phone to brick fyi. You were doing something else if you really bricked your phone.

YOU SHOULD GET CHARGED, IF YOU ROOT YOUR DEVICE AND YOU SCREW IT UP MAN UP!! THIS is the MAIN REASON phones are being locked down, return it under warranty and you are a THIEF plain and simple.

Dude !!!!! You serious?
As a glimmer of hope for you mine looked dead a few weeks back, I couldn't get any life out of it at all, I left it for a while day then plugged it in to power and left it again, some how it eventually allowed me to turn it back on. Not sure if the battery sensor had a funny or what but it was totally dead. It did eventually allow me to turn it back on though.
I hope you do get it back on though, you haven't even been able to use the CM7 release from Gonc and me yet!!!!! how dare you break it before being able to test !!!!!!
Best of luck m8, it'll come back to life I'm sure
Sorry to see you go. Praying for that miracle for you too .
Regardless whether you bought the extended insurance, it should still have the one year warranty - is it bricked for some out of warranty reason?
I also know of many people who thought it was bricked, apparently if the battery goes completely out it will take some time to revive it.
never mind, I just saw you who are and realized why it probably bricked. Sorry about that!
It's not covered by warranty because of the modifications, meaning it's out of warranty.
If you are sure it won't turn later they will never know. The way I feel about BN anymore I would not care about being honest

is it physically different? If not I'd just take it in with your receipt and complain, if they hold out start a scene and demand an immediate replacement under warranty.
Ususally works
hahaha, I know someone who works at my local B&N, I'll see if he can help me out.
Plug it in and let it sit for a while. As someone said above, if the battery goes really dead, it takes a couple minutes of charging before it turns on. That happened to me as well at least once already, giving me heart palpitations until it finally turned on. lol
When all else fails buy a new one from walmart switch the 2 and return the bricked one.

Probably won't help you, but my nook Tablet wouldn't turn on,I let it charge but it still didn't work.
I eventually fixed it by holding the power button for like twenty to thirty seconds and then turning it on again, surprisingly it worked.
The same thing happened to me. I was sure I bricked my book, but holding the power button for like a minute somehow fixed it. I held it down, then gave it 30 seconds or so to sit, then tried turning it on, and it worked

If you strike out at B&N an absolute last resort, would be leave it alone for 1-2 weeks then charge up & try again. The battery going dead may halt a closed loop.
That option is only valid if you have not removed the battery yourself already. I am aware I am speaking to you Indirect. You 'da man IMHO.

don't flash a rom when you're low on battery, you might brick it for good.
recharge first and reflash when you're battery is full or about 50% (if you cannot wait)

Recovery mode no ??
Download mode ??? no
Next step is buy a USB recovery jig and try to get to download mode .
Fails its pay for a JTag repair cheaper than paying for a service repair .

Recovery mode no
Download mode no
Flashing was in progress. Already few minutes and now phone is without any reaction.
Total death...
Any other solution without USB jig cable?
I think is not so easy buy it in shops and will take time...
Jig will more than likely not work, but worth a try. Apart from that, you need a JTAG repair done by a 3rd party; cheaper option or have Samsung repair it; more expensive option unless they somehow miraculously repair it under warranty.
Unless you know you can get it JTAG repaired & the phone back to you before the jig arrives, you might as well wait for the jig. You never know, it may work.

I'm being honest with you. The jig has maybe a 5% chance of working. The NAND likely got corrupted when the phone died midway thru the flash.
If I'd said to you (like some people on here would) 'Oh yeah, get a jig, guaranteed to get you into download mode every time !' & the jig ends up not working, how would you feel after you'd got your hopes up ?
The reality is jigs do not work in the vast majority of these situations, and only a JTAG repair (either by a 3rd party or by Samsung) will fix it. Unfortunate, probably. But that's the way these things go.

No there is not at this moment.. sad to say.. There is one option but it might cost you about a $100.. You could look online for a 4.1.2 motherboard for i605, the specific model.. it very simple to swap out..took me only about 15 mind and I have never done it before.. If your not comfortable PM me and I can recommend someone you can send it to that guarantees their work/parts for 3 months.. good luck man!:good:

I've already sealed it up in the return envelope, but I'll cut it open for a chance to run a custom recovery and better root. I just don't think I can last a full year before my contracts up.
