I want to wipe /sdcard and then to restore apps and data. So what I'll do:
1. Titanium Backup for all apps and data.
2. Wipe /sdcard.
3. Reinstall a fresh Titanium Backup.
But -- Titanium Backup is now fresh, so it doesn't have the apps and data backup I made earlier to restore from.
So the question is:
Does it suffice to copy the entire old Titanium Backup directory into the fresh (and empty) Titanium Backup directory?
Will the option 'restore missing apps with data' show all the stuff I backed up?
Mmm I did this when I moved to a custom JB rom. Like you said if you wipe sd card you will loose all the TB data. I'm not sure if you can move the TB folder to your pc then move it back after the wipe to restore your apps. I personally decided not to as I wanted to make sure I only had JB compatible apps on my phone as I was moving from an ICS rom. Perhaps other users have done this and can advise further.

I want to format my sd card to remove sd-ext. However, I want to keep my apps and data, how can I do this?
Could I do a rom backup with clockwork and copy the backup onto my computer the put it back on my phone after I format? Will that restore my apps and data?
I have a lot of apps.

I just restored a nandroid I had and all the apps I had moved to the sd were missing. Is there a way to correct this or do they have to be in the phone storage to be included in the backup? Of course I had everything in TiB, but that's not the same. When I do a nandroid I expect it be exactly the way I left it.
a nandroid backup usually includes the system, data, and boot images. user apps are usually installed on the data partition, but if you chose to move apps to your sd card via application settings then it would not be backed up.
Ok. so i was thinking about installing some custom roms and using them for a few days weeks to see how they perform but i was wondering what the best way to back up my apps/data and contacts would be so they can easily be restored after i have installed a new rom.
I dont have a memory card for my phone so i just have the 16gb internal memory so if i use an app that saves the backup to my phone would i just transfer the backup data from my phone to pc then after i have factory reset/wiped the cache and dalvik and intalled the rom put the backup file back on?
Also is there anything i NEED to back up on the phone or is it just the stuff i want like app data and contacts?
Thanks.
titanium backup
thank you.
Because i will be factory reseting the phone before i install the new rom will i need to move the titanium backup from my phone to computer?
will the reset and wipe delete the backup?
Use as said titanium for data and apps and gmail for contacts sync. You can copy the titanium files to your computer just in caseto be safe.

Just remember that if you wipe sd and you don't have external, then you won't have a Rom to flash to so you will be left with choice of either pushing the zip to sd with ADB, or flashing stock/rerooting/cwm/etc
R: Best way to backup?
Yeah man try to keep it simple...
just make a full backup with titanium backup pro (set backup folser to external sd card or just move the backup to the sd card when its done) it will require a lot of space if u had a lot of apps...
Flash all you want and put the new rom on the phone.
Then remember to have the titanium backup apk ready on your sdcard to be installed when ure done setting up the new rom(or go get it back off the play store if you wish), then install titanium and restore from the backup folder...simple

You can use titanium backup for game save, app, message.. backup.
Cwm recovery/backup and restore/ choose wether you want to backup to internal or external sd (I suggest external)....this will basically make a complete system image that you can restore if anything goes wrong, also backup your efs and copy backups to computer.
Backup user apps and system with Titanium as well.
I just updated my s9 to Pie, and did a ful factory reset. My apps are backup up on titanium backup, on my ext sd card. I granted it root permissions. The only way I can see them is going to DocumentProvider and selecting the folder. I can see the folder, and I can see the backups but the "Use Current Folder" is greyed out. What do I need to do in order to restore my backups?
Seems titanium doesn't have access to sdcard, the easy way is just copy the entire folder to internal.
I had problems with Titanium backup as well.
Using Migrate fixed it.
