Amaze problem - HTC Amaze 4G

I was given an amaze to take a look at for someone. When you power it up it goes directly to the bootloader and says ***relocked*** ****security warning**** and gives the typical fastboot, bootloader, reboot and all those options. Any idea what's wrong or what's missing?

Next time post questions in the qa section. The bootloader was relocked. Download the correct ruu, rename the zip file to PH85IMG, place in sd card, let it flash, now your phone should boot

Thanks, I realized that I put this in the wrong spot after I posted this unfortunately.

Try again? Make sure you're hitting the right links, etc? If you're doing it on a phone I'd advise you to get access to a PC, since you'll be needing info from the phone itself.

I am doing it on a pc. There are really just 3 things to do..login, select your device, and hit the begin button.

Hit the unlock bootloader option from the very first screen when you go to the site.

It's seems and I'm not when or why but Rom built it install kernels for s on phone is not loading the ph98img file, at least not for me when it use to. Also my computer no longer recognizes fastboot, I get a device not found message. The only way I've been able to install kernels is zips thru recovery then bootloader will work. This is all new, I'm not a noon but never experienced this before. All suggestions are greatly appreciate ...

This is in the wrong section. And also if fastboot doesnt work you should try reinstalling the drivers.
Edit: RUUing also helps with issues, if it will load the RUU. If not im not sure but i think you can use a exe RUU but im not sure if there are any made for ics.

Just fyi, this should not have been posted in development. So since that has been said hopefully flaming wont start.
I had issues with fastboot when using the oem cord or mhl micro usb cord. I still use a regular micro usb cord.

If you downloaded HTC sync to get the drivers then look in the bottom right corner on your taskbar and find the HTC sync icon, right click and exit it

Well, after farther investigation, it seems that since flashing asop I can't flash any sense 4.0 or higher roms... Not sure why?

[Q]How to make an RUU rooted

How do I make an RUU rooted? Meaning I keep the custom hboot and recovery. I'm s-off. I flashed the latest global RUU a while back after being on clean Rom for a while, and hated having to push the hboot and amon ra recovery again. I'm running Newts one XxX 3.2.1 now and I love it, but I just want to remember what stock was like I guess lol. Maybe so I can appreciate the devs more. Can I just delete the hboot***file, boot_signed.IMG and recovery_signed.img files from the ph98img.zip and all be good? Or will it bootloop or possibly brick my phone.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Yes you can do that, just removing the recovery will do the trick. If you remove the boot from it, it will bootloop. That should keep you rooted and keep your current recovery. Be sure to unzip the zip file, then remove it, then re zip it up and run it
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Thank you. So I leave the hboot in the .zip as well? Won't that flash over the custom hboot and remove the fastboot option?

Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Ok cool. Thanks. That's what I thought from reading on xda for a while, but I wanted to make sure before I did it so I didn't have any issues and have to start over anyway.

I suppose I do need the boot IMG too since I'm moving from sense 4.0 to 3.6 and ics maybe slightly different too like 4.02 and 4.03

Well since the ruu will replace your rom, you will need to keep the boot.img that comes with the ruu

Is there a reason

Hi all,
Am I missing something? Is there a point to have s-off now or wait until the devs do something with it first?

Personally, I only use out to flash kernels without a computer but I'm okay with using it so waiting isn't too bad

I'm at this part, but what is the appropriate filename they talking about?
Wait for the black HTC screen, then do this:
fastboot flash zip <appropriate zip filename from above>
The
psomething-dna.zip
Obviously with the correct letters and capitalization.

It's the zip that has your model id in the name. If you're on the DNA it should PL8320000-DNA.zip http://d-h.st/nOo
That's from step 3 in the original thread, btw. Also make sure you put the patcher from step 1 in your working folder, I missed that initially.
