Usb port - HTC Rezound

How (if possible) can you make the usb port on the rezound a master to connect to external hard drives and browse them? Is it possible to do this somehow and then mount an external drive through that port?

In a word, no.

HTC blocked that functionality and it isn't supported by the kernel.

So I am assuming there are no modified kernels that support it out there. How unfortumate :/

There is nothing to base it off of. If it isn't in the kernel then there is really no way to figure it out.

It's called usb-otg and you can buy a cable for really cheap but it won't work until we get kernel source and will only work on AOSP (i think cm supports it).
I know this because everyone does this on the nexus 7.

Any dev intersted in porting this rom? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1403859
I need some help. i cant do it in my own, if someone is intersted let me know, im working on it
Would we have the same kernel problem?
Awesome .................
You need to post what problems you have and at least some rom (even with problems) so people will able to help you.
I am willing to test when its ready - I like Sense.
BTW - I am using ICS 4.0.3 in my NS and I love it, but I wish there is a (good) Sense for NS.
This is gonna b awesome...
I've started waiting for the Complete build ... Woot
I think I'll do some tests as soon as I can because that ROM looks simply nicely done!!!
But 99% there'll be issues with the entire ROM, because of different BASE, different device (remember that HTC Sensation has 960x540 pixel) with all the images to resize..
So it's a no go for now. We have to wait for someone to port to another device with at least 800x480 resolution.
EDIT: ... And ... most important we'll not have any Linux kernel v3.0 adapted for Sense because HTC will not release any ICS for Desire, so no more kernel port for our Nexus...
Our N1 is outdated now, mostly because of LOW internal memory for all (apps, system, etc.)...
I'm waiting for some NEW HTC device, such as the HTC codename "Ville" with its beautiful thinness and the reminds of our Nexus One! Take a look and let me know what do you think

i agree, i think that all the effort to get this rom working in the nexus one in in vane, but, i can get it boot, then any dev can make it functional i dont know i have plenty of time to get a project like this... the 28 of december that i have vacations i will get to work......
EDIT: now that im taking a look to rcmix ics , im seeing that all the 450mb fits in the system partition, holly work to move all AHAH
This is a useless effort. The Sensation has nothing in common with the N1.
Concentrate on getting a kernel dev working on TexasIce's ICS Rom so we can actually have ICS working on the N1.

No it works believe me I thought that my device had the same problem.
1. connect charger (PC or power outlet works)
2. take out battery
3. wait for the LED to go off
4. put battery back in
5. phone should go on the moment it wants to turn on the LED
6. repeat process if it did not turn on.
*Note: I read that this should be done as fast as possible. I remember doing this process so fast that I thought that my phone was faulty. Take your time doing the steps.
Yeah like the post above use the jump start method. My power button doesn't work and I got my phone on

No AOSP firmwares do at this point - codeworkx and espenfjo are focusing on working the remaining bugs out of the camera first. A side effect of the camera work is signs of life from the MHL port - but usually just a frozen picture.

Hi guys,
Any news about the MHL?
I'm currently on 20120413 and everything works good, I Love CM9!
but MHL would be nice to have... the only thing that works when I'm using the MHL is the video... so I can watch Youtube on the big screen VIA my I9100, but games and Android OS are frozen on the TV..
There is some expectation of when it will be ready?
Thanks!

They're still fixing main issues such as external SD issues and the like. MHL doesn't seem very important to them at the moment, maybe in the future after the rest of the issues are fixed. I'd love to have MHL again but it's not too big of a deal.
Is there a decent non-stock/touchwiz that does support mhl? Does the AOKP ported rom work?

yes I understand that MHL doesn't seem very important... Its just one of these things that are "nice to have" ... like the FM radio which is not important for me but I'm sure that there are others that waiting for this one too...
OK as always, we will wait and update the ROM from time to time... there is no chance that I'll get back to STOCK, this TW UI is ugly! pure ICS only

Can I get a ROM recommendation?

I've been out of touch with the forum over the last 6 months and I know rom selection and features change fast here. I tried searching through the forums and it was overwhelming trying to pick a rom. I'm not TOO picky but here are the features I'm looking for (not sure if they are all available for our phones):
-AOSP or Sense, doesn't matter to me
-It would be nice to have Google Now
-wifi tethering
-ability to connect bluetooth gamepad (wii, ps3, etc)
-OTG for mass storage (do we have this?)
-MHL for HDMI output to a monitor
-Something that is good with battery conservation
I know these are sortof broad, but i think those are the main features I'm looking for at this point. Is there anything that has these features 'out of the box'?
Thanks guys!

Neither one supports MHL..
The only roms that support MHL are the Sense 3.6 based ones and Sundream's Sense 4.0+ rom.
I dont imagine MHL (edit: i meant OTG) will be a huge necessity, but it would be nice to have. Is MHL (edit: i meant OTG) necessary for me to plug any usb device up to the micro-usb port? I'm talking a wired keyboard, or a wired USB gamepad. Or is MHL (edit: i meant OTG) only for mass storage?
Also another question, on the sense roms, will it hinder my ability to bluetooth a gamepad such as a wii controller or ps3 controller? Or do i need to stick to roms without sense at all?

From your original post... - MHL for HDMI output to a monitor - that's all it's for.

I have no idea about OTG but can recommend EclipticRez as a super smooth sense ROM. I think there's a desensed option on install as well.

I am currently running a Rom called fish paste while I am waiting for neo's infection 2.5 and its a sense/touchwiz hybrid (looks just like touchwiz but has BAMF tweaks and settings) and I have no problems what so ever using my ps3 remote so I'll make an educated guess and say other sense roms will play nicely with it but I'm not positive. Also like the other poster said EclipticRez is also a solid choice. I am not sure about OTG for any of these I tried to look through the posts of neo's Roms, and fish paste and found nothing about it.

Its sense 4+ and based off of the One X so you can use themes by the virtuous team. Haven't had any problems running on GSM. It's been reported that MHL works but I don't have the cords to test.
I would say go with Infection 2.5. Its a AOSP rom, thats fast and stable, i been using it since it came out and alot of issues are fixed. as for OTG, im not sure if that would work. Dont have one handy to try out. Either way go ahead and download it and flash it. If its not what your looking for then take a look at EclipticRez and flash that and try it. Like MHL Im not sure if you have to have sense in order for OTG to work. Could be a HTC thing and not so much a google thing. But that the nice thing about flashing, if you dont like it, drop it and move to another rom till you find one you like and will fit your needs

Samsung just put out a 4.3 update. That should make it possible to get this into other AOSP ROMs, or at least possible to more highly customize ROMs based on the stock 4.3. They suspended the update because of lag and battery issues, they're probably going to have to do some wiping or scrap the update, but we already have it.

You can consider buying a chromecast device. I believe it is full supported. And it has the flexibilities of the same gadget can communicate with all of your devices and be a wireless one.
I bought a cheap HDMI-MHL cable and it worked on CM exactly the same as it did on Touchwiz, surprisingly. For the record I'm using this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2763735

LG G2/Nexus5 hardware rom compatibility ?

In the future, will it be possible to extract Nexus5 rom/updates and apply them directly to G2 ?
Just asking, because G2 and Nexus are sharing a lot of same hardware.
It'll probably be easier to port Nexus5 rom, instead of having a lot of work on a common 10.2CM ?

Its fairly easy to port ROMS from Nexus 5. However reading log cats is the main thing here. Thankfully most people can't read log cats so it stops the noobs flood the place with terrible ports. To answer your question yes it can.

Real good to know about the N5/G2 ease of porting. I'm particularly curious about the kernels and how similar they are to one another. Moving forward with newer versions of Android, the kernels are the important thing.
I'm hoping it'll be easier to port roms over. The only concern I have is whether or not they'd work with the VZW version. Not sure if you could use the RIL from the G2 or a new file from scratch would have to be made to be able to get working data.

but someone has to do it which is really bad with that many different device configurations.
