How many phones have Sony announced this year?
Seems at least 10 different models based on the same line up.
Is this excessive or not?
I don't see the point releasing that many phones when they are all very similar in specs and design.
Not only those two but the T as well which is their new flagship device.

All of these handsets are aimed at a different user/audience. The V is quite a nice introduction because it has 4G capability, it seems pretty similar to the S just with 4G and other features added but only being released in the US. Whilst the J is the affordable smartphone option.
This is something you should expect from a manufacturer, and hope to see continued (constantly improving/releasing devices).
On a business side of things, the more products you produce the better. Again it's to be expected. So no i don't think it's excessive i just think it's more selfish, i would like to see them concentrating more on support for their current flagship device(s) rather than maximizing profits/gaining larger audiences. If they were to concentrate their efforts on improving and maintaining current devices there wouldn't be a need for so many devices, and perhaps when they release something new it will include all of the features the entire line has rather than releasing individual devices with new features and be a device with all the improvements and current firmwares/software's applicable.

Because a dual-core Krait is equal/more powerful than actual quad-cores (Tegra3 and Exynos-Quad), and that is better because no all the apps uses 4 cores or 2.
Xperia T should be twice as fast than Xperia S in pure processing power. In games... 50% more on the lowest case.

Xperia T is almost the same thing as the S,just slightly different (s4 vs s3,hdmi port vs no port)

Pure processing power doesn't mean switching between each homescreen or app list twice as fast dude. Thinking better on that, could be 1.5x not twice, but yes, is a huge advantage in hardware.
Its like when Intel released the first core i7 vs core2quad.

Better battery life has not been confirmed, it's not particularly hard to introduce an extended battery either.

Well, it matters if u are a biker and ur city happen to be located inside a rainforest.
For the button,U could mod it.but it just plain silly to have duplication of button on top of one another doing similar thing.
I'm saying better battery life simply as dual core and smaller screen won't be as resources hungry as quadcore megascreen.
The point is this phone is as fast as the other flagship, but with better camera and could be thrown in the pool for fun sake. And it pocketable too 4.3" screen with onscreen button would be as big as current 4" screen.
This probably appeal to the I don't want a phablet but I want a powerful spec crowd. Last I check there's isn't any competitor in this category yet.
Unless one got the new iphone, which may rocking a 4" screen, so would be about the same size as this phone.

Software development always lag 8 - 12 months behind hardware. If you keep buying the next big thing, you never get to actually use its hardware because there is no matching software.

I've been COMPLETELY sold on the Sprint GN, but I have a June 1st upgrade, and if this release date is concrete for the One X/Jet/EVO LTE, I might have a decision on my hands
So if the cpu chip isnt compatible with LTE here and thats why Europe is getting I wonder if it will be compatible next year? Hhmmm....either way I'm excited about the display!
Really? A Dual core?
And no, It's not about benchmark swag. Its about it actually being a worthy upgrade. Why am I going to buy a phone thats barely an upgrade? A slightly faster cpu, a slightly faster gpu, and the same amount of RAM? No thanks.
My next phone will have a 1.5ghz quad core, a way faster gpu, and 2gb of ram or its not worth dropping a dime on to me.

Its just a phone for god sakes,i just dont understand the fascination with going crazy over quad core in a phone.
Right now i have a gs2. I dont see me giving up this phone anytime soon. I have 2 eligible upgrades ive been savin. But normally if you sell your phone on craigslist then buy another on craigs list you pay less then what the upgrade would cost a new customer. Sold evo for 220...paid 350 for brand new white gs2. While there is no mention of storage or battery the article states LTE as being the only difference. Had battery and/or storage been changed it would be a pretty big deal and mentioned. I hope I'm wrong but don't hold your breath that HTC decided to make those changes only for Sprint when LTE is the single necessary alteration for the CDMA LTE roll out.

You guys need to take some time and do some research on what your talking about...
neither of you mentioned the fact that the screen is HUGELY improved, dedicated ImageChip, and besides the whole point both of you are not grasping the fact of how much better the S4 chip's are than the S3's...If this doesn't satisfy an upgrade b/c of the SoC then you'll be left waiting till '13 when Qualcomm pushes their 28nm quads...
fact is the SoC mentioned in this device is a huge upgrade to the current one in the EVO3D...
If this was a Tegra3 would you consider it an upgrade??? If you say yes then you are greatly miss-leaded by the facts of the SoC's themselves b/c there is sooo much more than just the # of cores...28nm vs 40nm, integrated modems vs not, and a bunch more...

4.8 Inch HD Super Amoled
1.4 quad core xynos
2100 mah REMOVABLE Battery
16,32 and 64 gig on board PLUS Micro SD
Quote from Engadget
The Galaxy S III's beating heart is Samsung's new 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor, aided by a fresh GPU that is supposedly 65 percent faster than the companion Mali 400 graphics chip on the Galaxy S II. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to give GTA III a blast, nor run our typical benchmark apps, but in any case the model we played with was not final hardware. That said, we were able to grab a quick SunSpider browser performance score of just under 1,500ms, putting the phone below HTC's polycarb-clad wonder -- but lower is better, by the way.

The One X camera didnt even beat the GS2 or the 4S in reviews lol. Of course none of the HTC die hards will admit anything other than an HTC phone being better anyways. And yea id rather wait to have the better phone, I made the mistake of not doing so with the 3D last year.. not this year. More memory, better processor, bigger screen, thinner, removable battery...yea works for me. Being able to take 90 pics in a minute doesnt matter to me when the optics still suck. Comparison below pretty much shuts that down.

Bring on the release date!
Its official, the Samsung GSIII has a REMOVABLE battery. This is the ONE thing I with the EVO 4G LTE (One X) was going to have. This could tip the scales for me. Sprint beefed the battery in the U.S. EVO 4G LTE over the One X specs. This chart has the One X. Still, removable is good. I dont know what I'll do now. I prefer sense over TouchWiz crap too.

Let's see, the newest announced quad-core Snapdragon with Krait APQ8064 is clocked around 1.5~1.7GHz.
And it is supposed to be available within 2012 (not available yet).
So when you think this 2.5GHz quad-core will be available?
I just hate these rumors that treat general consumers like idiots. And what I hate more is many consumers actually believe in this ****.
i dont worry so much how many % it is truth
for ex, xperia SX is expected to have GPU Adreno 320, and when it is uncovered, it is GPU Adreno 225.

Come on people, the guy's a designer, not an engineer. If he doesn't know much about chipsets, don't blame him. When that design gets into right hands (if ever), we'll see a better matching hardware.
Some people just can't help themselves it seems.

2,5GHz Quadcore? 1,8GHz Quad is still possible but 2,5GHz seems take a long gap from the highest chipset now available
i think its just some concept by fans.
imho if it happen, the device must be overheated and battery is draining so fast. so its impossible for our technologies now.
That whole site reads like bull****. The language is broken English and childlike "Lot of memory for sure" and "processor which we see in most of the laptops". If you don't have fluent English writers, don't make your site in English.
The specs are just what we have now with higher numbers! Any idiot could guess those. The design is just a white Xperia S with the black bottom part!
More importantly, there is absolutely no substantiated evidence. No sources, no links, nothing.
Utter crap
I like the name of the device, it reminds me of something that like a 40 year old man living in his mothers basement playing World of Warcraft would make up. It sounds like it should come with a "Speed charger of 1000 truths" and NFC tags that double as action-figures.
The "Specs" are the icing on the cake...
Totally made up, probably some fan made wet-dream, or maybe even a troll to try and get hits on the site? I found it amusing though .
Hi guys!
I have never owned a tablet and i have decided to pull the trigger and get one, however, im not entirely sure which one to get. I have narrowed it down to 3 tablets. The Nexus 10, Nexus 7(because i travel a lot im considering the 7" screen) or the ASUS Transformer Infinity. I know they are all similar but which performs the best and worth the money? Thanks a bunch for the help guys!

^ Yah.
Since you travel a lot.. The N 7..
How is the performance of the N7 compared to the N10 or Transformer Infinity?

almost same powerful

If size didnt matter though, which one would you take?
I guess im also confused about the nexus 10 and its CPU....its only a dual core vs the transformers and nexus 7 quad core but yet all the benchmarks i see say that it is much faster. how does that work out?
QUAD vs DUAL

good question. basically, more CPU cores doesnt always equate to better performance.
It really comes down to the design of the chipset being used. for example, the N10 is using a Exynos 5 (dual core), which is built using ARMs brand spanking new A15 architecture...however, the N7/Transformer/etc are all using a Tegra 3 (quad core), which is built using ARMs older A9 architecture. So that pretty much answers any questions about performance, mulit
The Exynoes chip also includes ARM's new Mali-T604 GPU, designed to power that record-breaking display
Throw in the fact that the the N10 was the only device in your lineup that has 2Gb of RAM...i think you know what to do!! :good:

Because it's the next generation dual core, cortex-A15 architecture vs cortex-A9. Basically it's not about the number of cores it's about the architecture.
I'm not an expert on this so someone else will probably give a better explanation.

Thanks for the explanation guys. That helped clear things up. I might go with the nexus 10 and just deal with the size. Only thing that sux is that it's on back order for a while.... Boooooo :'(

the nexus 10 looks awesome. But I think it would rather go cheaper and buy the nexus 7. I bet it has better battery life and the 10" is almost as big as a laptop screen and might not be good for travel. I dunno, just my two cents.
