Hello all, I need to send my g tab to Sammy for repairs, I currently have my product registered, but upon requesting service it says my ESN is Invalid, I'm assuming the ESN is the serial number located on the reverse side of the tab, but when looking internally Settings>About tablet>Status I'm getting a different serial number than the one listed on the reverse side. Is this normal?
I'm currently on CM9 P4 Wifi
Thanks in advance for the help.
They want the one on the back of the tablet. However, is your tab a refurb? If so that's why the numbers are different. Samsung won't touch refurbs, you have to go through their refurb company.
Thanks Breton, I currently have it registered with the serial from the reverse side, yet on the Samsung site it says it's invalid, could it be I have the wrong model registered? There are so many with the same description upon registering the tab. They have at least 10 different p7510 models. No the tab is not refurbished , thanks again

hey guys! i am looking to buy galaxy s2
The guy i wanna buy from apparently was attempting to use custom rom and has "altered" his IMEI to a generic one "It contains the IMEI so now its stuck to a generic IMEI of 004999010640000. "
According to him the phone is still fully functional, but I was wondering if I should be worried about this phone If i were to buy it
Not sure an imei number can be changed legally.
I think I would give a wide berth to a phone with a false imei number. It could mean that the phone has been stolen. You would not want your phone stolen and resold under a new imei number by some scumbag would you?
Its nicked my son, and so could you be

You should be.Changing the IMEI of a device is illegal. It's also not allowed to speak of such matters on the forums. Not that I have a problem with what you're asking or something,as I had similar questions once, but a mod will probably close the thread.Which is right,XDA is a place for legal stuff only.Fortunately.
Anyway, dangers(if I can call it so) are that if the carrier or Samsung realise that the IMEI's been tampered with they can deny giving you phone service,so you end up with an expensive iPod-like device that can make no calls.Or you could be tracked and pay a fine or something. It also depends on the country where you live.
I'd say you don't buy it.I wouldn't for one.
Definitely stolen. Don't buy it.

Hi, I saw someone is selling a galaxy s2 on ebay but he mentioned that the phone was unlocked but doesn't read sim card.
what do you guys think? easy fix? or hardware problem?
thanks
Try to perform a factory reset, if not bring it to the service center. My friend also has the same issue but it ended up as a repair , something went wrong with the contact points as per service center.
I'd be wary... Could it be because the phone has been reported as lost or stolen and blacklisted by the network? If that's the case and you buy it, there's no way you're going to get it to read your sim. Given that it's a recent phone, all the legit units are in warranty so I find it a bit strange that the seller wouldn't bother to have it fixed.

ok, so I am about to buy a transformer prime BACK of mine that was stolen, but I am wondering what odds are that it is really mine...i know my serial number, but does anyone else's serial number BEGIN w/ C1OKAS1XXXXX ...okas1??? are most prime's this way? this is how mine is, but the one i am buying has the last 5 digits scratched out. so...????
is this okas1 unique or really common to all????
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!! THIS COULD LEAD TO THE POLICE CATCHING SOMEONE WHO BROKE INTO MY HOME AND STOLE OVER $7,000 WORTH.
OKAS is pretty generic I'm afraid.
However, when you get it back, you can check the actual serial number from the "About Tablet" menu in settings.
Regards,
Dave

or just ask for a screenshot from the seller.
Check the s/n in the "settings" section, it can't be scratched out there!

When I go into AboutDevice/Status my Serial Number is all Zeros, is this normal for the Verizon Note 2? It works fine, I just want to know if I should fix it before selling it. I have never had a phone were the serial number was all zeros.
All 0000000 here too..
Cool, maybe that's the way it's supposed to be on Verizon Notes. I bought mine used but it was completely stock and the guy didn't have clue about rooting or swapping firmware.
I have a samsung galaxy note Shv-e160l (lte)
firstly i supposed its n7000 so i have bought it from a foreign and then i realized its another version of N7000
THE PROBLEM
its imei 000000000000000 i gave it to some programmer but they couldnt solve the problem.
if there is anybody to help me about repairing imei i would be glad of him or them
thank you.
Yeah. . . I don't think you can receive any help here at xda because altering an IMEI code is an illegal activity (even though you claim you want to repair it). If its legit, why not go direct to samsung repair?
Yeah, see, no IMEI would be just zeros. OR, no LEGAL IMEI would be zeros. Looks like your phone was jacked or something. Probably not a good idea to try to change the IMEI or solicit advice on how to manipulate it. I would hate to see a fellow XDA user end up as the next headline http://m.indianexpress.com/news/four-arrested-for--changing--cellphone-imei-numbers/956021/
