i want to flash a new rom and still keep my current camera (with everything that is regarded to that like libs and everything)
can someone tell me if and how it's possible to do that?
Thank you very much
Not possible unless you know which files to backup and then restore after flashing the new ROM. Also, that has a very less chance of actually working. So stay happy on what you have right now, or sacrifice your cam setting

Ok, so I have been having some major freezing and getting stuck on a black screen issues. Currently have Rooted 2.1 Stock Rom with JI6 update and OCLF V.2 installed on my Vibrant. Thinking about doing a full factory reset and also wiping the 16gb internal memory too. Then reinstalling everything from scratch. Will that make any difference? Thanks for any help you guys can offer!

Oh yea also locks up on the Gallery and other Apps some times. Then nothing responds then have to take the battery off to fix it!also using Launcher Pro Plus as my Launcher!

Try this...
If you have ROM manager, try using the fix permissions option. Seemed to work for me after I flashed Bionix. I'm not sure if you're overclocked or not either. If so, you may need to check your scaling settings. Not sure if these work for you, I'm still in noob status, just trying to pick things up along the way. Would hate to get flamed for asking a question......
Just using Stock Rom not a custom Rom. Think I might just undo everything and start fresh. Just wish I could find a working download link for the TMobile unofficial Froyo Rom. But not having any luck since it was removed by the xda. devs!

Even with a stock ROM, you might want to tryr fixing permissions, seemed to work for me when I was rooted with a stock ROM....just a thought.
^^ please see the noob guide in my siganture... the ALT METHOD is exactly what you are looking for.

Ok just did that. Seems a little faster but the Market seems to take longer to load and also it changed my font style for some reason? Will test it out I guess

your tip fixed my camera i think bud
Good.I hardly use the camera cos the light should work automatically, like the flash in a normal camera.
Ive tried about 7 custom roms and kernels in the last 2 weeks and they all have problems.Ive come to the conclusion that dkv06-1113 with optimized stock rom speeds up system and more importantly-stuff continues working.
App removal
Startup optimizing
Memory optimizing
The only thing I miss would be a slight increase in speaker volume(not full- on xloud which thrashes your speaker).

you on stock rom with doomkernel?
Yes mate, its this one.He says its for "stock based".I'll change my signature......
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253853
im on locked bl
I see you were getting involved in theme changing stuff-that could have some impact on your camera/system.Im tempted to muck about with that, but I'll wait.
The galaxy rom was my favourite, but I see alzbac has abandoned that and I think hes doing a donut one.
And I think the best utility is the restore option in xrecovery......its well used
will my unlocked bl backup restore if im on locked bl at the mo
Im not sure.I unlocked my bootloader with FT,but in the DK thread he says that way is a "bypass" opposed to the "proper method"(the one with running a zip file beginning with q).It did once relock, but I cant remember if I reflashed or restored for it to happen.
Im new to all this phone stuff,my knowledge is more about sony psp and tomtoms.....
Hey people I'm really really feed up with the x10 keyboard lagging like most of the time. Galaxy s keyboard puts our keyboard to shame and so does HTC wildfire and some lg phone which I happened to try please help to remove the lag don't tell me to change to this keyboard or that
Already done it but not good enough

its most likely a general x10 issue on stock firmware you should mention everthing is kind a laggy. homescreen, app drawer and even music playback.
I don't know any solution to this staying on stock firmware, only by rooting (eventually unlocking bootloader) and using custom roms, they are an amazong change using the x10. they also got a lot more features and cool stuff but always be aware, by doing that, there is a chance to make your phone unusable. If you plan oing so also be aware, you won't be able to get any services from sony, even on hardware related.
also a last note, before rooting & other stuff, read a lot about it in the stickys in development forum and most likely a huge load of stuff inside the rom threads, to be aware what might be not working or even knowing how to handle problems before they appear.
regards
Dude my phone is rooted( stock rom 2.3.3) .I want to know if I can do something that will make the keyboard damn good like maybe if I port 2.3.4 arc keyboard will it be better or not .our maybe some framework or build.prop mod or something

Ooh that's another thing I want to ask . How to remove the app drawer lag . I reduced it substantially
Though but want to reduce more

i don't know a way on stockrom, maybe there are ways to get it done by applying the tweaks all the custom roms use but i'm not that much into this stuff
after rooting my S3, the camera seems to crash ALOT and i particularly bought the S3 for its amazing camera.
it bugs the hell out of me.
im using AOKP build 5. and still the camera has been crashing alot unexpectedly and wont be fixed until i reboot the device.
i like my S3 rooted and customized to my preference.
is there a way to fix the camera crashing issue? another custom ROM? or an individual main and basic system camera app that doesnt crash?
or the only way is to UNROOT my device, which would be my very last solution.
what should i do?
please advice

If you bought the S3 for its amazing camera, why are you on AOKP? Every AOSP-based ROM has a not-so-amazing camera, when compared to the stock camera, of course, and AOKP is no exception.
Please change the title of the thread. It's misleading. Camera does not crash on rooting the phone. Incorrectly flashing a ROM with a not-so-amazing camera does.
If it's the camera you want, go back to stock and enjoy!

None whatsoever, unless you go in and mess with the camera files.

Hello all.
I have a Galaxy S3 (i9300) and changed the stock rom to CyanogenMod 10.1. As I was not satisfied with the camera I decided to go back to stock. I downloaded the foirmware in sammobile.com sock and put the rom with odin. After that I had several problems. I tried other versions of the stock rom, but nothing worked. When I turn on the phone, it takes longer than normal on the first screen (the first screen to turn on, where it appears samsung galaxy s 3). After the android loads, everything works normally, but when you connect the phone to pc it is not recognized, and the worst of the problems, when he gets some time with the screen off (locked) when I click to wake it, it takes too long to turn on the screen, or does not care, having to be restarted. I think he does not shut down, but is frozen with the screen off. When this happens I get the impression that the phone FIVA a little warm.
Can you help?
Thank you!
R: [Q] Problems back to stock
Ive already answered this thread but i cant see my post here, so im just gonna repost.
It looks like you mightve flashed the wrong stock version of the rom.
Also under my point of view cyanogenmod is not stable enough for s3, it is intelligible after all since the s3 is not in desperate need of updated roms for now, also there are mo stable 10 builds yet. I guess u chose cyanogen because it is very popular or because ure used to it, but ill go ahead and suggest anyways u flash jellybam or foxhound or rootbox roms, they are very stable and well developed.
As for the camera app: simply go into stock rom and thru titanium backup make a backup of the camera app(its advisable to clear app cache and data first), then flash the new rom and stuff, and then reinstall titanium backup and install the app backup. It should be easy since i own both original jelly bean camera and samsung galaxy s3 stock camera apps on my phone... reverting back to stock is useless once u got the power of the dark side of root

killbubble,
Thanks for the reply.
I decided to use the Cyanogem because I like pure android. My previous phone was a Razr i (congratulations, Motorola). Very fast and clean. Samsung did a good job in the design of TouchWiz, and it seems unnecessarily heavy. Anyway, I want to return my phone to stock and totally do away with these instability problems.
R: [Q] Problems back to stock
In that case...its not gonna be too easy. I really must advise you against returning to stock, it's not THAT stable (there are some bugs in stock as well) and jellybam or foxhound are much better roms. But if you DO wish to get back to stock i think u need to visit the rootgalaxysiii.com site and look for your phone's stock rom...but it is very easy to make a mistake, maybe thats why your phone is so slow....

I just remembered that I had a backup of cyanogen. I did the root stock that was giving problems and recovered the backup. the problem of delay in the first screen when I turn on my phone and the screen freeze issue after some time locked, were not resolved. I do not know what else to try.

when I'm listening to music, the freezing problem after staying some time with the screen off does not happen. these two symptoms are very strange: slow first boot screen and freezing after some time with the screen off.

Problem found!
The unit stopped working completely. I searched the internet and saw that the problem is Sudden Death. I sent for technical assistance.
Now just wait.
