CWM Recovery, I've wiped everything. I've also tried going into fastboot but it stays in "starting fastboot protocol support". When I connect and run "moto-fastbboot devices" nothing shows up. I tried installing the drivers but it does not recognize my OS(windows 8). The ROM I've tried flashing is CM10 v 0.2.0. Everything was working fine before then, didn't have any problems flashing v 0.1.2.
Wipe the caches and reflash. Fastboot shouldn't be needed for that.

yeah why do you need fastboot to install cm10 v0.2.0? just wipe system data cache etc and install zip from sd card with ur cwm recovery

Yes, I've done all of that. Everything that is needed for a clean install.
Try flashing the 1.3 kernel? People have had problems with the 1.4.
Or maybe just restore a backup and see what happens?

The only reason I was trying to use fastboot was to see if kernel wasn't flashing right but even that isn't working all thanks to my OS(W8). I'm about to check if cm9 works and work my way down from there.

I didn't create a backup as I don't care about the data on phone. I've worked my way to GB and nothing is working. I'll have to wait to get my hands on a Windows 7 machine so that I can run fastboot. Anyways, thanks for the help given so far.

yea im guessing you need the windows 8 motorola drivers if you want to run fastboot try seeing if your device gets detected in rsd lite
Supposedly Win8 is compatible with RSD 5.7, whatever that may be worth.

Nope, I've been looking for those drivers and all that I've come across give me the same error "Does not recognize OS". I'm making a backup of my PC atm. Then reformatting and reinstalling Windows 7 Pro, with Dual Boot to Windows 8 and Linux.
Just because, have you tried a different USB port? Windows is funny that way.

Yeah all 3, the thing is that Moto Drivers don't seem to be compatible with windows 8 yet. Getting ready to install Windows 7. So i'll do that then try again

phone was rooted using the unlockr method and was able to flash a froyo rom successfully via clockword mod recovery.
i tried to flash another froyo rom and tried to reboot into recovery from clockwork mod and now its just stuck at the vibrant screen.
i tried booting by holding the 2 volume buttons + power button and then releasing when the 2nd vibrant splash screen comes up...nothing, it stays at the vibrant screen.
so i tried booting it normally by just pressing the power button and that doesn't work either. it stays stuck at the vibrant screen.
so i researched and came across this article: http://www.ithinkdiff.com/how-to-access-download-and-recovery-mode-in-samsung-vibrant/
that didnt work. i tried all 3 steps. when i go through terminal and try to run the adb commands it just says that no devices are connected.
please help me.
Your gonna have to flash with Odin
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
can this be done via mac?
if you can get to recovery you can place your rom on the sd card and browse from cwm
if no cwm, you need odin. From mac maybe with bootcamp.
i can't get into recovery.

hi
I use this method:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/8482-fixedstrange-problem-project-voodoo-black-screen-of-death/
I hope this can fix your problem. Good luck
Thanks everyone for your replies. I got it up and running again. Here's what I did:
1) I download the vibrant usb drivers from here, then installed them on my Windows XP machine (http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDo...SB-Driver-for-Windows-x86-Download-96692.html)
2) I then watched this youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnY7P14JSWQ), downloaded the 2 files and followed the steps in the video
It went back to the stock (out-of-box-unrooted) ROM. Without the JI6 update.
ok so i did something very similar and am currently having a very similar problem. i can get into download mode; i then use this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475 to try and reinstall stock (i think i may have wiped the internal sd card earlier somehow) is this the proper way to go about reinstalling everything or am i missing something?
So I had the 1.36 ROM. I installed Android Revolution ROM and I backed it up with CWM. I locked my bootloader and installed the new 1.43 ROM. I rooted it and installed the Android Revolution ROM. I restored my backup on and now when I try to turn on my WiFi, it says error. It says error with the WiFi hotspot as well. Any ideas to get it to work?

Flash the kernel for your rom from fastboot.
You might have to flash it twice, rebooting in between.

I never changed the kernel though.
Just flashed this kernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359951
Still didn't work.
Edit: I reflashed the kernel and it worked. It said in the thread "NOTE: Because the previous kernel included a Secured RAM Disk, so you may need to run the script twice. (Once this is done, then any subsequent flash should complete on the first time)"
So you must flash the kernel TWICE so it works. Thanks for the help!
in same situation..need some help please!!
hi all. i'm new to flashing kernels to phones manually. i have usually always used roms which have the stable kernels built in.
I just installed the beastmod 2.2 version and it has a separate kernal. i'm facing the same issue as my wifi says error when i try to enable it. PLEASE HELP!!
I enabled android debugging and connected my phone (not fastboot mode, just regular). i navigated into my android sdk folder and platform tools. just to confirm that my device is being recognized i tried adb devices and my s/n comes up. then i tried doing fastboot flashall and it gives me "C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools" i don't know what to do now
please can you provide with step to step steps how to flash a kernal (boot.img). i have also tried downloading kernal manager but it doesn't show any kernals in there for me to download.
any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance,
Eneet
UPDATE: UPDATE: so i tried running the command (fastboot boot boot.img) while in fastboot mode on the phone and it restarted my phone. then i tried turning my wifi on and still it shows as error. then i pulled out the battery and tried flashing the boot.img again in fastboot mode and phone restarted. still wifi isn't working. any suggestions??

Your not flashing it in Recovery are you?
Download and extract the ZIP on your computer, connect your phone, and run "Flash.bat"
It is all automated from there and does everything for you.

Hi everybody,
here is my problem: I can not boot any kind of ROM or recovery image. CWM is working properly (it is an internal CWM). I have this issue since I tried to install the CM9 with 3.0.x kernel. I am pretty sure that this situation is all my fault, I mean, I do not think the nook has any kind of damage.
How can I fix it?
PS: I can easily flash the ROMs and the recovery images, but when I reboot the device, it just reboots in CWM.
PPS: I don't know if this can be useful: at the end of the flashing process it says "sd-ext.img not found. skipping restore of sd-ext".
Thanks

The message at end is normal. Did you create a backup using cwm prior to attempting to load new rom? Did you perform reset and clear cache post loading new rom? What were you running prior to this? This might help in determining what the issue is.

- Yes, I've created a backup before loading the new ROM but not using CWM (I've used rom manager).
- Yes, I performed wipe cache and data after loading the ROM.
- When everything was working fine I was on CM7 Alpha Final (the all-in-one-mod version).
Check if there is a backup file in SD/clockworkmod/backup. If so, try restoring backup through CWM. I've had the same problem flashing cm9 3.01 with CWM 5.0. The easiest way back was to restor a backup of previous mod.
Good luck

If u have any zip file of cm7 rom extract it on ur PC there u will find a file "boot.img" , copy it to ur fastboot folder, then in command prompt type "fastboot boot boot.img", that's it the old 2.xx kernel will be flashed

Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
In addition, before you go flashing new kernels, you might want to try and just re-flash CWM. Not sure if it would work, but it's just a thought. You could boot into a CM7 SD ROM, then use @Indirect's Recovery Flasher App to re-flash CWM to see if you just had a bad recovery install. At any rate, good luck.

When I write "fastboot" nothing happens (it says "command not found").
I don't know if this could help: I just would like to make it run. I don't need any particular ROM. Even a "simple" unrooted stock could be good. I don't mind if I will loose all the data.
I was formatting my phone's internal storage in TWRP recovery and I accidently wiped my ROM instead of formatting data. Now there's no OS on my phone i.e it's soft bricked.Odin won't detect my phone on my winXP PC,I got the samsung drivers installed and I made sure no kies process is running.I tried mounting the storage in recovery but when I click on it on my PC,it tells me ''please insert a disk''.I wanna try flashing stock ROM using ubuntu but I just don't know how.I know it's by using hemidall but I'm not very experienced with linux.I just need the codes that I have to put in the terminal.

You can always put a rom on your external sd card (if you have one) just plug it in to an adapter (again, if you have one) and pop it back in the S3. And i bet in future you'll make a back up
Good luck.

You cam access fastboot mode this way:
turn off the phone
Plug usb cable on pc
Press volume up key while plugging usb on your phone. You will see that the led bar becomes blue.
