Hey all...some questions
My phone is not charging normally at all. Even when it says 100% charged, as soon as I disconnect the charger it drops down to less than 50%. Sometimes it will stay plugged in all day and barely gain any power. New battery did not help. ATT said they would replace, however when I went to the store he said the port is corroded indicating water damage. I never dropped it in water so it must have been some sort of moisture. You can definitely see a little rust in there. Tried to clean with toothbrush an alcohol did not really help. ATT on the phone said they will send me a new one but I am worried after they get mine back they will try and bang me for water damage. Any advice? Can i clean the port any other way? I saw in the i9100 forum people have changed the usb port with a part from ebay. I found the part but not sure if I can use it with the ATT version.
Flex Cable with Charge Port for Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100
Has anyone tried? Ideally I would just love to get my replacement phone and send this back and hopefully they don't bother me. I already totally flashed back to stock and used mobile odin to make sure there is no trace of custom roms. This is frustrating. I keep my phone safe but somehow something must have caused the port to collect some kind of rust.
Thanks for any advice
If your phone was dropped in water, they will be able to see that. Get a new part replace the old one and keep rockin.

Can I use this part

Has anyone sent their Galaxy S ii(I777) to Liquipel? I know it's not an option on their list of phones but they still let you send your device. I sent my device on Friday and will receive it back this week, you guys interested in knowing that if it actually works? Ill post up a video of my Galaxy S ii I777 getting ''Wet'' on.

Looks interesting but since I got my very first dumbphone I never had problems with getting water on it.
It opens up possibilities, but nothing I need at the moment.
Passing it on to my foolish friends though, so thanks for that!
No problem!
So it makes it water resistant but not proof right?

I want see more reviews as its really new. But This is real. And does work. Here is how.
Hydrophobic nanocules are applied via vacuum. Thus coating the outside AND INSIDE from water molecules (which are bigger than the nanocules) thus can't get in and create a conduction.
It is rated itx-7 meaning it is waterproof to up to 30min at 1 meter (3feet) depth... Jeez. So i wanna go swimming with it

Its not meant for warranty purposes.. This is just for anyone that wants to protect their device from water damage.
Im sure it voids the warranty..
*edit* .. I think they are also trying to get in with (somebody.. I forget, but they mentioned it at CES).. so that phones come with the Liquipel protection - which is a great idea but than the suppliers end up losing money because of not having to replace asany phones.. Not sure how it all works but somebody loses potential mula

i played with this stuff at CES this year. It was Fascinating! They used the stuff on a Napkin and had it sitting in a pool of water. When you pushed the napkin around in the water it never got wet and just rolled off (unless you were extremely harsh with it).
Quite impressive to see. You could also see the water interacting with the screen as it splashed against it (showing that its not just a "fake" cover)

Somebody died swallowing water, that does not make the water poisonous.
There are 10.000.000 s3's out there, apart from the suspicion the exploded phone was microwaved, chances are that 1 out of that many apples contain a worm, 1 out of that many cars have a bad tail pipe. Etc.
Get insurance. Done. And even if it does explode within the first year, Warranty is there. After that? Insure with provider.

Actually, within the EU the warranty is two years, if you didn't already know. (Check the warranty booklet if you don't believe me)
I'm always surprised how few people know this since all manufacturers provide it. Everyone just assumes it is one year.
Might not apply to OP (since there's no location), but just making sure no one gets ripped off buying an "extended warranty" for after the 1st year. Accident insurance is not the same though, and may well be worth it.

Ok..so I connected my Atrix to a cheap car charger without a surge protector, and I guess it conked off and gave my Atrix the full 12volt treatment instead of 5v. The phone went off and its not powering on. Whenever I connect it to a charger the only thing that comes on is the green LED and that too at a level.of brightness I've never seen before. If I put a charged battery in the phone, the backside of the phone heats up and gets hot iin a matter of minutes. I took the phone to my local phone repair Guy and he told me that it's most probably the power IC that has blown up ...but can't be replaced individually coz it's sealed to the motherboard..so I will have to replace the whole motherboard. Is this true? Because I've seen Ads on the internet for standalone Atrix Power ICs. Doesnt make sense to replace the whole motherboard ..
I'd rather buy a new phone instead. Can someone suggest what to do?

Well OK, those indeed seem to be genuine. But good luck replacing that on the motherboard. It's too tricky and risky and a lot of service centers won't even bother, since they can't charge enough for the effort to be worth it. This is also the biggest reason why the most common solution to this is simply replacing the entire board.

Well no, but what other choice do you have? The bright side is it's only $5. I mean, the only other option is to get a wireless charging sticker (which breaks the water resistance anyway), or a real samsung wireless charing back cover. Both are more expensive than just replacing this flap every 2-3 months. I'm pretty disappointed in Samsung if this is truly the case though.

I hope I won't need to replace it though. A $700 phone shouldn't need the user to replace a part every 2-3 months. The GS1 (att captivate) had a sliding door that never broke in 3 years of use. Maybe samsung should have done that.
