Hi!
I'm facing problems with the way Android manage the RAM.
When I have Opera open and do another task, inmediatly the memory manager closes it. When I open Opera again it load again the webs I had, consuming more data...
So the question is... how can I prevent that Opera be closed by the memory manager?
You cant ,, thats how things work on android and thats why low RAM on android device makes it useless in multitasking

i had the same problem with chatting in im pro and usind dolphine browser hd
try ram manager app from google play and set it to more multitasking or hard multitasking
note: requires root access
Root your phone.. Get rid of all the bloatware! It will certainly bring a bit of change in RAM..
Or better, unlock your bootloader and install custom ROMS!
Warning : Doing any of the two above will void your device's warranty!

v6 Supercharger
use the v6 supercharger script... it helps a lot
but the problem isn't that I ran out of RAM, I usually have around 90-100MB free.

Try increasing the background processes limit! Goto settings> developer options>background processes limit set it to highest instead of standard! Or uncheck destroy background processes if its checked!

Just want to ask, is there any compatibility issues on SK17i with the NFS shift android game or the like. Also, is there a specific minimum/maximum requirements to play this game?
When I Run this game I just see the logo and then it goes black and turns me back to the icon screen. Need help on using this.
Also as of now my total available space remaining:
MicroSD Card - 324 mb
Internal - 128 mb
The phone is updated on the latest android version 2.3.4
And is there any software that can transfer internal memory to external memory?
And also, is there any way to speed up or stabilize the speed for SK17i?
Nah man. Nfs shift are fully compatible with sk17i.
Dude, don't worry, nfs shift runs perfectly smooth on sk17I, even my old lg optimus one with only 600mhz processor runs it smoothly how does your sk17I doesn't run it smoother?
For transferring any apps from internal memory to sd card, I recommend using Link2sd. Search it from the market

so, its possible that its just with the website where I downloaded the app right? i tried it on "Applanet Market" coz its free. Are you suggesting purchasing to download it on the on the "Play Store"?

isnt applanet market is dead?
plus i dont really like downloading stuffs from applanet, the apk's are outdated. try find another apk from google. or maybe u just can buy it from the market to support the developers
Hmmm... It was recommended by a friend and I was just trying to test if it'll work on my Xperia mini pro.
Hope you could recommend the best android market that you know of.
and if there is a way or an app that can stabilize the processing speed or balance the flow of the RAM so that when you still use it for long periods of time it still have that same speed on openning and closing applications or programs on this android phone.

i recommend using Appbrain App Market. my favorite market so far and many people like it.
for speed, try overclocking your cpu using Setcpu or No Frills app but you need a specified kernels to do so and an unlocked bootloader. check out xperia mini pro android development forum.
for ram, you can use any task killer app from the market. it works and free up more of your ram but i didnt recommend it. but you can still use it.

Personally, I'm against task killers.
Android will kill old processes itself, when it feels it needs more memory. Task killer uses itself memory to kill the apps, which actually might be later needed(and then takes longer to load them). Killing tasks doesn't give that much speed.
That's my personal opinion.
Myself, I use only V6 Supercharger on rooted phone with custom ROM to improve my phone's speed, it changes the minfree amounts, that is when Android should kill some unneeded tasks.

I am using Android 2.3.6 stock rom. My phone becomes very slow every 2-3 mins. When i open a task killer it shows 44mb-51mb ram. I have to clear all the apps and still it would show me 65mb-70nb ram. Phone gets ridiculously slow. Please help me with the solution.

Yea, like Samsung Apps, such a memory hog -.-

use another task killer, or stop some services from settings->applications->running apps->from there, stop some apps you think uses your phone's memory too much.
other thing, remove any apps that uses data transfer or any background services.
First stop DATA then u need to stop some APPS like Samsung APPs. The way ur telling invokes that ur in STOCk
try to install custom ROM.
or delete some useless app.
Delete bloatware apps.

reflash n try a custom rom
Are you using the stock task manager, or some app from the market (play)? If you're using an app, then begin by deleting that app. They do nothing good for your phone, quite the opposite in fact. As long as there is free ram left, then the ram is not to blame. And android should free the ram on it's own, so basically you shouldn't even need to free the ram by yourself.
If that is not the reason, then it is some app you have installed, which keeps running on the background and needlessly uses resources. The ace runs fine, even on stock rom. And that means that, either you or some app, is doing something wrong...
Guys kindly share ur experience here.what is the best task manager fir better RAM optimization in your view?
I do not recommend using any task killer for any android phone. Here *read and learn*, but if you really want to use one then just monitor the app that is unnecessarily eating your cpu using watchdog and manually kill it otherwise 'task killers' will take up your phone's resources.
Android is totally different compared to windows... Android don't ever need task killer! Just leave it to be, it'll auto optimize...

task killers like people said are not recommended.
but that doesnt mean that you cant use it, you still can use it daily actually.
my favorite and the best task killers out there in the market are Advanced Task Killers
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sImNvbS5yZWNoaWxkLmFkdmFuY2VkdGFza2tpbGxlciJd
+1 to what above users said.Killing an app will only make it load again which consumes battery.
Killing tasks in Android is generally not recommended but if you really want a task killer, Advanced Task Killer does the job well.
Thanx alot all u bro.i m using memory booster.i works like a charm for me...
I use Quick System Info and Advanced Task Manager but the apps will automatically restart after being killed and this procedure even cost more CPU usage. I also use the built-in "Running services" setting but it's not so effective either, sometimes forcing an app to stop won't free more memory.
Apps in android work like this. Say you are running Google Maps.
-Android: Ok he's using maps, lets use some of the ram.
-Android: Oh he stopped using maps, ill just empty the app from the RAM but ill keep some information here in case he wants to run it again, plus maps still needs to do something so ill keep some info for it.
Now if you put a task manager to kill the remaining information (which is close to 0 in size) you add this.
-Android: Hey where did the info for google maps go? Oh darn i guess ill have to load the app again from scratch and use additional ram.
So all in all it ends up being counterproductive. Task killers worked on 2.2 and earlier versions. On 2.3 its almost automatic.
If you're looking for better ram managment, i suggest you try the V6 Supercharger Scripts.
I agree with the post above.
Using task manager actual result is slower and higher battery usage.
I use V6 Supercharger also, it changes the minfree amount, that is how much RAM has to be available minimal always.

Yeah... I totaly agree with dumraden... Android is very good at managing RAM on ots own...
If u kill an app, it will only cause unnecesary load on the CPU...
Btw very good explaination man...

Hy, I have an xperia s 0.73 firmware.
I dont know why, i have everytime opened new aplications in the task killer, and in settings (runing services), i close them, but in a few seconds ar opened again! Like musik player, email, office suite, liveware manager, etc .....
What can i do?
I use advanced task killer, but i think thats not ok to open aplications itselfs.
(Sorry for my english)
Theres a lot of programs built into the Sony that you cannot remove without gaining root access.
You can go to settings/applications/manage applications and the you can remove some of the programs but not all.
yes i know there are o lot of aplications, i dont want to remowe them, just to to someting, to the phone, to not open the aplications itself!!
Liveware will always work cuz its required for hadsets, speakers etc

Are you new to Android? I had this same confusion when I first moved to Android.. Because it runs on a Linux basis it works differently..
2 things to consider.
1, Android will hold programmes in memory but in a suspended state, not using any resources until they are called for from the kernel.
2, with Linux based OS empty memory is wasted memory. (refer to point 1 above!)
Don't try to kill things that the phone need to have running in the background it will waste resources and battery!

ies i'm new.
i used ios from three years ios
So i recommand to remove tjhe task killer?
If your device is rooted, you may try install apps like autostarts
Task killers are ok.. But you only need to use it to kill apps which are causing problems (usually just apps which you have installed rather than any preinstalled or system apps)
And generally a bad idea to use any auto kill apps.. Avoid that!
Sent from my Sony Tablet S using XDA Premium HD app
You just have to live with that unless you are willing to root your phone then use titanium backup to freeze the app. My xps is less than a month old so I just let them be for now because I dont want to root it just yet. There is plenty of ram and does not affect the speed of the phone.

+1 to that. I only use a task killer to get problem apps out of memory sometimes. As a rule android is very good at managing memory.
These things will always start and it usually means the apps stay up quicker.

In addition to that, it doesn't take more or less battery power if the memory is full or empty.
Killing apps and starting them however does take battery power.
OK, THANKS!
I understand.
I thinking about, that open apps are influencing the battery life. But now its clear!
So no auto task killer.
Thanks again!
I recently installed a Rom and the ram is consistently at 700mb can anyone advise me on how to lower this say yo 500 - 600mb.
Also is there a app or task manager that will allow me to decide what apps I want to stay open and what ones close after a pre defined time. Dont know if im thinking ahead with this app

Are you managing app auto starts? If not get LBE Security Master and set which apps you want to start up after booting. That will save you some RAM.

actually i have been using LEB for a year or so, and only use it as bandwidth monitor ... that function about disable autostart seems is not very working well because my RAM always got over 700+ MB.
but anyway , consider the Android's RAM management which is quite different to Windows , so i am fine with that ...
just my music player get killed frequently which is very annoying !!!

Freeze some things with titanium backup. Greenify apps you don't need running in the background. I normally always have around 180mb of ram free with widgets on the homescreen, messaging and exdialer in memory, whatsapp, headset manager, google services, quickpic, Facebook notifications etc. Personally not a fan of Swap/ZRam/Supercharger. My best experience has easily been running stock or WanamLite with no tweaks/build.prop edits other than Jkay Deluxe. Also, Perseus kernel has some ram modifications in the kernel so you get an extra 20mb or so of ram
Still do not understand why people want more free RAM; free RAM is doing nothing, while RAM that is being used is caching apps in memory so it can be loaded faster, making a more responsive system. Please research. With that being said, too much RAM usage is not good; about 5% (45mbs on our GS3) should always be left idle.

If you want more ram then you must setup which apps can launch in the background after startup. These are the apps that eat ram because they begin running by themselves and continue running even if you never use them. Of the 80+ plus apps that I have only 4 of them are allowed to startup on boot.
