Titanium backup android id - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I have searched here and Google can't seem to find a good answer I'm looking for.
When I flash a new rom titanium backup ask if i want to restore or keep my android id, i always hit remind me later then after that it doesn't show that message again, it never did this on the evo 4g but i did restore the apps and apps data when i transferred to the evo lte.
My question is should i keep the id or restore, is the one it wants restored from the evo 4g, what happens if i was to restore the other one.

I always say restore the original device id. Some programs may be tied to that id and won't register to the market if you don't restore.

I restore it everytime, certain apps look for the device id and would consider your phone a different device after each rom you flash. Play Music and netflix are good examples.

I never restored it and havnt had any problems with any apps, if i start restoring now could that start giving me problems?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium

there are only a handful of apps that rely on it, like Roam Control. If i restore it, roam control works fine, if i dont i have to input my email and key again. not a big deal. Also Bluetooth relys on it apparently. If i restore it, connections work fine, if i dont, i have to repair.

Punch Hero is a Gamevil game that requires it, otherwise it junks the save data and starts a new game.
I'm on SGSII and oddly if I switch to other touchwiz roms, TB always asks me to restore
But when I switch to a AOSP rom, it doesn't ask me.. which means I can't play Punch Hero from where I left off.
Need to figure out how to force change the id when ti doesn't ask. I've been holding off on AOSP until I finish playing Punch Hero.. but I've been playing it for like 5 months now
-EDIT- Found it.. its in the menu under "Manage Android Id"... restore from backup. Sweet!

What's the best way to backup and restore from EVO 4G to EVO 3D?

I'm sure google will do its part but it only restores my contacts, calender, & gmail I believe. I usually use Titanium Backup to restore my apps+settings but it will not work since my 3D won't be rooted.
What's the best non rooted app that will backup and restore my apps+settings from my EVO to the EVO 3D?

honestly just bite the bullet and restore everything from the market and sdcard and set everything back up . to prevent troubles
Lets first think about rooting before moving the rooted files over lol.
waiting patiently for root to occur first.. then, load up all the apps and data FRESH.
U want a clean install, not a move.
yeah, guess you're right. forgot quite a few of my apps only work if rooted. not just TB. so other than manually writing down what apps I have installed, whats best to use to reinstall my apps (without their settings)

Use Titanium Backup on the Evo to "send data" ( list of all your apps) to your email. open it on the 3D. As a little reminder when market borks.

+1, I was going to sat the same, it can restore apps, app data or both, also miscellaneous data like SMS, mms, Calender, music play lists, bookmarks...etc... It works great, rooted or not....

AppBrain can help, you can create a list of apps and restore to your new phone.
Honestly, though, for a new install, the Android Market does a great job now of installing. Go to My Library (I believe) and you will have a list of your apps. Just click to install each one you want on your new phone. I found that if you queue up too many at once, you might get an error, but that was on my OG EVO, so it may have had to do with memory limitations more than the process. This doesn't give you a listing of currently installed, so if you have too many extra apps that you have removed from your previous phone, you might have a bit of sorting to do.
Iv e been playing with this method of reinstalling with my last few ROM changes and it works just about as well as TB or anything else (assuming you know what apps you're installing). I guess it's a little trickier if you have apps from different sources (Amazon, etc.)
I doubt hes very worried about re installing all his apps, thats fairly easy. logining into all the services/apps you use is the annoying part. as far as I know, only a rooted app can restore that type of data, which is unfortunate.

I'd be wary of letting any of the backup apps restore services, bluetooth pairing, etc. across devices. Might be okay, but if it's not, you'll probably have wasted a lot more time fixing it than doing it the sure way the first time.

I'm really hoping we can get a soft root this weekend, perhaps by the folks over at unrEVOked who released the initial soft root for the OG EVO.

It only transfers contacts from the evo 4g.
MyBackup Pro transfers everything over, but I lost nearly all of my app settings. By the time we get root I'll already have all of my settings restored manually. Getting my saved game files from titanium will be nice though.
Wait, MyBackup won't restore app data? So how the hell will I be able to restore my Angry Birds progress?

Can i backup my skyrocket and restore everything to my note?

Is there a way to make a backup of my Skyrocket and restore that to my new Note? The Skyrocket is still on 2.3.5 and the Note is on 2.3.6 if that matters. The goal is to transfer everything apps games settings etc all at once. I don't post often but I do a lot of lurking
Thanks for any help or suggestions. I'm sure this could help others who decide to try out the Note in the future.
Simple answer is no.
ahh well it was worth a shot anyway, I guess I'll just have to settle for transferring my contacts and texts and media. I'm off to google play to redownload all my apps lol.
I would say titanium backup is fine for regular apps just don't restore any system stuff. Most of my backups are from my OG SGS2 and no issues.

Contacts and media from Google and Play Music can easily restored to your GNote without any problems by just adding your GMAIL account. If you want to restore your texts, you can use an app SMS Backup & Restore. Thats what i use whenever i flash new roms.
Try mybackup root it should work I have changed devices many times and managed to restore everything

Titanium Backup *verions of backups*

ok... so I would like to have one full backup including system and also one what ONLY backups the Apps... now how is the best way to do so?
and how can I also scheduel to do one full backup lets say once a month but the "apps-backup" weekly or so?
I am new to TB... so please be gentle
Also can I use TB for more than one of my devices with different profiles...
i.e. nook color and andorid phone
Yes to multiple phones

In order to do both, you have to have the paid version. And there is no option for monthly schedules, at least not on the free one.
Go under schedules and set it up. For full backup, choose 'backup all user apps & system data.' For apps only, choose 'backup user apps'

TB is a beast. So many utilities. What you want to do is use the batch feature. Press the icon that looks like a paper with a check through it. They will have all your batch operations you need, and their categorized.
If you want to set up schedules. You'll see that there are three bubbles on every screen. Overview, Backup/Restore, Schedules. Click on Schedules. You can edit and create as many as your heart desires. And choose what you want them to do.
Like somebody else posted. There is no monthly scheduling. But you can set up a schedule and run it manually.
I also use the same paid version of TB across multiple devices. Kindle Fire and Evo. Also a nice feature is the upload to dropbox. It'll upload your backup to your dropbox account. This is helpful incase you lose or break your phone. You'll still have the latest backup.
Thanks for the detailed reply.... Still am unsure.... How yo do a full backup with different versions.... AND a only app version.... With different versions.... And how to select which one I wanna restore from..... With the batch restore I could not find a way to select a version from which to restore from..... Am i blind?

What do you mean by different versions?
Sent from my EVO using XDA
lets say i make a backup every week... just apps... if i do a batch restore.... how can i select from which date i wanna restore... if i do a single app... i can select that...
IIRC, batch restores will use the most recent backups.
And there is no way to adjust?
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Why would you want to adjust? If you're restoring, it makes sense to restore the most recent backup, no?
Otherwise use manual mode for older versions.

Like somebody said, if you do a batch restore, it'll to the latest version. But TB is set to have a maximum of 1 backup. You can go into preferences and change this to how many backups per app you want.
Then if you want to restore an app to an older version. You click once on the app, click restore, it'll ask you what backup you want to restore from. But this has to be done on an individual basis.
I don't understand what you mean by having different devices. Each devices stores information seperate from each other. Ofcourse you can always force information from one device to another (by loading it onto the devices storage).

[Q] Does restoring using Titanium Backup keep a new ROM healthy?

I flashed a new ROM this morning. I usually only back up user apps and data, but this time I backed up all user data and system data. Something towards 300 items to be backed up.
I have done a restore like this before and TB has usually said something like 'the android device id is not the same as previously, would you like to restore the old id?" but it hasn't asked me that in a while now.
I restored everything. It kept my txts, my widget layout, and restored all my accounts and sync, apparently. Most impressive is that it kept the info for bluetooth and is still paired with my car! I haven't used it much to this full extent, as I said.
My question is, after flashing a new ROM, does restoring like this cause the ROM to get messy, as opposed to going in and downloading and setting up the phone manually? It kinda concerns me that TB doesnt ask everytime if I want to revert to the previous android device id. Maybe that has something to do with me only flashing the same ROM (but different versions of) instead of different ROMs from different devs...?
Anyone have any suggestions? I Just want to be sure I'm using TB right? >_>?
You generally should not be restoring system data. It can cause more problems than its worth with some roms

I restore system info sometimes, but ONLY a few things.
WiFi access points
Settings/Bluetooth
Contacts/calls (sometimes... this one I think puts back MMS stuff which is why I do it)
Email Account Settings
Accounts
Application Widgets
I NEVER restore any other system info other than that. I DO restore my previous ID though, as I believe it works with your registration keys for apps you actually paid for, etc. I know some games, apps weren't working properly until I restored it.

[Q] restoring Note 2's Android ID

How does someone get a restore of their Android ID? I am wanting to update to Build 14 of Jelly Beans, and Titanium Backup (which has been awesome for backing up my ID on previous phones) has borked and will not give me the 'we noticed that you have reset your phone, would you like to restore your old ID?'
I need to restore my old ID or Slacker Radio tells me I have registered a new device and I have to wait a month before I can start storing music channels on my phone, basically wasting a month's subscription (~9.99).
I found an app called 'Change hostname', but it doesn't appear to be able to add a specific hostname, but to randomly generate a new one, which is crap...
I would appreciate any help on this issue.

I let it go for a couple weeks.. pain in the ass... If there was a work-around, that would be something. Like another app that would allow me to modify the ID.

I think you will find that you do have a backup. It's just in a different folder than where Titanium is currently looking. Check around with a file manager and look at the dates the backups have for each file. Then make Titanium look there. Well, at least that is what worked for me when I went from Novella (an AT&T rom I was running on my Verizon Note 2) back to Beans14.
Good luck.

Why would titanium backup make a backup, then not look in the proper directories when restoring files? I did a top-level search of 'settings.db', and other than the one I found in /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases, there is not another one anywhere...
BUT... it wouldn't be the first app that cant figure out the difference between /mnt/sdcard/ and /mnt/sdcard/0...
Does anyone have a bugtraq for Titanium backup? All I found was their Google Plus page, and while I did post there, I'm not expecting an answer...
