[APP]PPCC - A WP7-Style PC Controller - Windows Mobile Apps and Games

I just finished making the first version of this app...[2012/9/5]
PPCC - Stands for [Pocket PC - PC - Controller]...
You now can use your phone as a PC controller..
Here's the review:
Requirements:
a WVGA resolution Windows Mobile(Pocket PC)
.NET CF 3.5
NETCFv35.Messages.EN.cab
GSensor(I can make another version without GSensor..If you can't run this and you need a non-GSensor version, give a feedback here..)
.NET 3.5 on your PC
Features:
Keyboard..
Numeric Keypad
Need For Speed
Simple Gamepad(Call of Duty)
PowerPoint
You can create your own controller with CEditor on PC..
I might release CEditor as soon as my Youtube channel gets more than 100 subscribers..My Youtube Channel
What's not that good:
After running a controller, you can only exit by clicking home button and then use task manager to close it.
Somehow it won't work as good as you expect.. my suggestion is.. use it as a PowerPoint controller or a numeric keypad..That's enough...
Why I made this app ... now??
I think this idea is great.. But due to my poor ability I can only make a Windows Mobile app now.. I hope someone can port this app to other phone devices like Android, iPhone, Windows Phone.. If you can and you're willing to do this.. PM me.. Maybe we can set up a team together...
How to use it?
Install PPCCv1.0.CAB on your phone
Connect the phone to your PC via Bluetooth or USB with Windows Mobile Device Center/Activesync
Open the "PPCC - PCserver.exe" on your PC
Open the PPCC on your phone
Select the controller you want..Done...
And..
I found that something called DroidMote on Android does almost the same thing.. But I knew it from the XDA Portal(on 2012/8/30) a few days after I started making this app.. And I haven't tried out DroidMote or even watched the video demo of it. I keep making this app work in my way. I swear I didn't ever steal zulu99's idea!! Including the CEditor.. I was so suprised that zulu99 had made "Touch Profile Creator" and it looks exactly like what I thought that CEditor was...I'm sad...

Really don't want to bother you: I'm using frreware TeamViewer to remotely control my desktop. Available for Android and WinMo. What does your work it better?

Is there any program can control PC?

Hi, there
I would like to use some program to remote my Desktop....
I try to use Remote VNC Pro....but it didn't work.....
Anyone can tell me what can I do??
Thanks so much!!
remote droid is a pretty cool app from the marketplace. it essentially turns the phone in to a laptop style track pad. If your looking for something a bit more indepth then have a look on the market place
there are a couple of VNC programs, but none of them are brilliant.
Gmote allows you to remote control the media player on your PC and stream music to the phone
VLCMote allows you to remote control VLC if you have it installed on your PC...
there may be others.
PhoneMyPC looks impressive ?
Has anyone found these apps to be successful besides Gmote? I have tried every VLC remote in the market, set-up the HTTP protocol, and none has worked yet. I tried reading the developer's instructions to start it with command line but it told me the command was invalid. Thought it might be my firewall, but even disabling it did nothing.
anyremote
Did anyone here try anyremote? Using anyremote2html it should be possible to control various applications on the PC using a web interface. Unfortunately it did not work for me yet since no browser on the android was able to show the webpage containing the controls. I always get a 404 error with them. I have no idea why this is so. I can get it to work with another PC controling my first PC via any web browser. Does anyone know why the android browsers are not able to show that simple webpage from anyremote?
vnc4android does work fine for me (on my pc i have a ultravnc server with standard settings)
where do I get vnc4android? I tried a few of those vnc clients in the market. But they have trouble with correctly showing the desktop.

androidvnc works fine for me, using tightvnc on my pc. just change the port on androidvnc to 5900, altho lack of software keyboard is abit of a bummer.
The new version of GMote is excellent for the Hero. It allows you to use the Hero's screen as a touchpad and now also let's you bring up the keyboard to type stuff on the PC. It is very responsive and highly usable. I have a media centre PC and this means I have full control to complement the remote.

windows 95 on HD2 (for real)

Have you guys tried Windows 95 on HD2? It is a Bochs emulation, I can get it full screen (only VGA though) but can't get the mouse work. Although it is freeware, I saw it on a warez site and I don't know if it is legal or so, hence I'm not posting any links. Just google it if you're interested.
why would you do such a thing?

Why not ?
(curosity killed the cat)
me too
yeah im trying this too, i have to move the bochs windows around the screen, if you go on config, then misc and tick mouse then go on vga keyboard and press f12 and make sure the mouse is ticked it should eventually work, mine did.
anyone who gets it to work please fill us in on the blanks lol love the HD2 and it would be cool to get this bochs working, once we have this working we can simply use the configured settings and make our own win98 image
qemu
You should try Qemu instead, there is a russian port of it for WMobile, i have tested it on the HD2 with windows 95 and works surprisingly good, muuch faster than bochs, only issue is the small keyboard (BSB with pinchzoom helps lots though) and mouse implementation is no good...
I think if this port evolves and matures focused in the multitouch ( a bit like FPSECE is heading with v1.0) it could be one of the nicest surprises on our HD2!
Also played some games, Starcraft being one of them and its quite playable, even the intro and cd sound works (though lags a bit) Its by no means as fast as the pocketstarcraft port, but this is the real thing, all units and bloodwar expansion on it so its quite a nice
Windows itself works pretty fast once the vga drivers and all components are properly installed, there is one issue with the mouse icon, and few other glitches, but still nice and usable.
Im having lots of fun just installing stuff.
If there was any developer over this great forum working on the interface mainly, it would be amazing!
with some free time i will try to post a quick video in youtube if anyone is interested

I would be interested if you could post a little guide for Windows 95 on QEMU or a video. Thanks.
Many thanks for this tip miko3d!
LOL!! HoMM2 are fully playable on my HD2 using this russian pack. This is superb-completely-amazing!
I see great potential there, sadly looks like this project is not going to be developed further..
All the details are there (just use google translate):

Hey that Qemu solution seems a lot better than the Bochs one indeed... got both my Win95 and Win98 images to run, and the mouse is even useable!
I didn't get the keyboard though, there are the couple of keys at the bottom, but is there a way to get a full onscreen keyboard within qemu, or do we have to play with the hardware button to show/hide SIP trick?
guys, this seems interesting.
instead of doing emulation, can we do something like the haret?
boot the phone from storage card and run win xp tablet on it?
what's going on? does it work? will u provide any screenshot?

No, because PC versions of Windows are made to run on PC x86 processors, not on the ARM ones used in mobile devices. So, emulation is necessary.
Some screenshots...
nice, but what actual use is this, better to get ubuntu up and running and we can really have a play then.
None apart from fun... but ubuntu or linux in general wouldn't be any better if it's an x86 build. Emulation just makes everything way too slow for comfortable use.
Windows 95 runs also nice and perfect...
only thing is- i got no mouse xD
touchscreen is not working =/
edit: ah okay im still useing bochs, thats why ...
can anyone upload this files in the forum or on a hoster like rapidshare/uploadet ?
because i dont want in reg. me on this russian forum
yeah i second that but a compiled version!!!!
I created simple compilation with the latest QEMU WM port I could find.
All the credit for this goes to mamaich (excellent work!), I am merely sharing these files.
Links:
[dead]
Instructions:
1. Extract QEMU_WM.7z to the root folder on your SD card.
2. Extract additional packages (Win95 or Homm2) to 'emul' directory in QEMU folder.
3. Use qemu_launcher from QEMU folder to start selected VM.
Note: QEMU must be placed in '\Storage Card\QEMU\' directory, otherwise you have to edit 'cmdline.txt' etc files accordingly.
Generally, everything works well and pretty fast (as for emulation). Homm2 is completely playable (with sound!). On Win95 mouse cursor is a bit dodgy - it looks like button clicks are not detected correctly.
Please note that this software (Homm2, Win95) although very old, is still copyrighted, so don't download it if you haven't got license for it. If these links violate forum rules, please remove them.
Hi just a few quick questions:
Does the internet work on windows 95, e.g. can i go on internet explorer and actually go on websites?
Is it possible to run windows 98 on HTC HD2?
I've seen youtube videos with a HTC HD2 running windows xp, vista or 7 on them through remote desktop, is this possible or just a fake?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFiDZ_wBAtM
Can you please post some screens of your HTC HD2 running windows 95 with internet explorer on the screen, thanks alot!

Well as you said it's through remote desktop. So it's not fake, but the HD2 is not "running" them either, just displaying on its screen what another computer is running, and interacting with it.

They are, but it needs playing with one of the bottom buttons. See attached picture, the button pointed by the arrow is the key. When it's grey (default), a tap on the screen will do a left click. So a tap&drag will do a left click and drag, i.e selection, moving stuff, etc, which is why it looks weird to you. Tap the button, it turns to black, and now a tap&drag on the screen moves the cursor without clicking, like a laptop touchpad. The button on the left marked "rb" does the same as grey but with right mouse button.
So you need to turn the thing black, move the cursor where you want, tap it to grey, tap or double tap to single/double click, tap it to black, move to some other place, etc, toggling the button each time between movements and clicks. Not very convenient, but works.
I'd gladly try the net etc, but I just tested on my Win98 image, and it has IE and all network drivers stripped out, so no way. Plus, I still haven't found how to get an onscreen keyboard. And W98 is very slow.
Will have a look under W95 tomorrow, it seems that one was complete.

Use android phone as generic bluetooth keyboard/mouse?

I would love to be able to use my phone as a bluetooth keyboard and mouse for my media center (ps3, xbox media center), but cannot find any info about this..
I guess it would be up to the bluetooth drivers, and to my understanding, that was the big issue with bluetooth file transfer on pre 2.x android roms.
So i wonder, is this at all possible?
I am no programmer, so i couldnt possibly do this myself, so the question is merely hypothetical.
It would be nice to use the hero screen as a multitouch trackpad for my htpc with two finger rightclick and scroll as on my macbook but that would probably be asking for too much
I'd say it's possible, but I doubt that those BT profiles are included in the SDK, so it wouldn't be easy at all. It might only be possible on rooted phones.
A multitouch trackpad for a PC wouldn't be hard at all. I had an app like that (I can't remember what it was called, and it certainly wasn't as good as a mac's trackpad) but it worked over WiFi instead of bluetooth. I think it had keyboard as well... hmm..

Gmote does this, although i can't recall whether it supported MT. and i can't get the server to start on my pcs anymore, it is throwing some java errors, but i had it working in the past, and it was kinda decent as a touchpad.

Gmote has similar features, but it does act like generic bluetooth keyboard to be hooked with any bluetooth device, that support bluetooth keyboards. You have to install the server side part, which is not possible for devices like WDTV Live, which I would like to use.
If you want to control your xbox media center you could always search for xbmc-remote on the market.. I'm pretty sure it's for WiFi only though.. :/

As of now I could connect S60 device as mobile to laptop.
but its little bit unstable, let see how it goes with mobile as bt keyboard and mouse as well.
BlueputDroid does this. It is working for me to use my Backflip as a BT keyboard for my Nook Color (though it's a little quirky for me)

Just for info - it requires a rooted phone with a custom ROM like Cyanogenmod to work
Damn doesnt work on Windows 7
Thanks for that info, I was wondering the same thign for the NookColor
Are u looking for a mouse in phone? I did not follow the thread but if u need that u can find different app in android market such as v:mote or ' mouse in blue'

Hey all, new here, havnt searched your entire site for this yet, found this thru the goggles so sorry if considered old thread....
Anyone have updated info on this? I want to use htc desire g7 on android 2.2. to type on xbox, anywhere on xbox, like an always on handy dandy controller...
I can only seem to dig up (and been trying for a little while now) info on tethering your xbox TO your 3g android...

(i love first time posters, so innocent, and polite, and freakin woooorddyy)
"GENERIC bluetooth mouse/keyboard"
Note "generic" word in the initial post. That means no server applications. I suppose it should work like this: I run the app on my android device and then my pc (or whatever) should be able to detect new bluetooth mouse/keyboard. Does such app exist?
I have searched google play and found nothing. Such app would be extremely useful, I would buy it immediately!

I think you mean it requires a client. If you want a service without a server, you are doing it wrong.

[Q] See & control device on computer?

This guy is running Windows 8 and is able to see an 'ASUS like' device on his computer. It looks like he can control it as well...
Here is a link to the YouTube video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UpugJkgH8o
Anyone know what app he's using? Is this possibly emulated?
He says that if the page gets enough traffic, he'll offer up the details. I went through and tried to search for it on XDA but nothing matches the way his app looked.
Thanks
N
I know you can use ScreenCast to do that, although complicated and slow.
http://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/
You can also use our VMLite VNC Server to install on Android, then control using a VNC viewer on pc,
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vmlite.vncserver&hl=en
there might be other apps too
I was hoping the app he's using is different from these 2 and that it worked really well. Who knows... hopefully someone knows what app this is or the guy tells us...
Might be an external display, some android devices support hdmi cable, which connects to tv card on that pc

Q - App query/request/suggestion

Ive tried to look at how to create such a thing but im stumped at the first hurdle to be hoest.
Are there or is there anything available or under developemtn to control wifi enabled lighting that is not phillips HUE?
I have Easybulb lights at home which use an iphone/android app to control them. Currently im using my work tablet (android) orthe Mrs' iPad.
some kind developer has made a windows app (non windows 8) which is pretty good for my pc and my windows tablet, but i cant seem to get anythign on my phone to do the job.
'Apparently'.... all the coding is available online for what is needed - it needs to send UDP data to an ip address of the wifi bridge via a GUI.
any suggestions are most welcomed?
