I have an unusual problem (at least for me ). I never had it on my Blackstone.
When turning of, or restarting my Leo (soft or hard reset), everything works fine. But, if I take out the battery and then try to turn it on (what is necessary when flashing a new ROM), I can't turn it on...
I mean, I succeed in than after trying for about half an hour... and I never know how I have done that... whit what combination of keys, or while connected on battery charger or something else...
That is very frustrating and even more because I have just received my replacement battery, but if it is going to take me every time half an hour of trying to succeed in turning it on, and even not knowing if I'm going to be able to do that, I see no sense in having a replacement battery...
can anybody help me? Is there any way to find out what is wrong with my device?
Just pressing the end key for about a second and letting it go works for me ...
Sounds like you may have a hardware issue ....

You could try leaving the battery out over night, also check the battery pins make sure they did not get bent, that seems to be a common problem with this phone ...

yeap... the problem is in the battery pins...
I have to be very careful in putting the battery in, because the pins don't sit very well...
thanks a lot for your help... now at least I know where the problem is and how to avoid it...
I can only barely hear whomever I talk to, why is that? It all started when I installed a custom ROM on my X10 Mini. A reboot or turn off didn't help it. I fail to see why a software can cause hardware not to function as it should.
I have tried cleaning my phone in SEUS, but it didn't help it; my problem persists. I have no screen cover whatsoever and the little hole for the earpiece is not clogged with dust and what-not. What should I do? Is there anyway I can make it work again WITHOUT replacing it? I haven't got a dime to repair it for and I bought it in February '11.
I tried flashing stock firmware, but it didn't help it. I contacted the developer of the ROM I'm using and he says he's never heard of that problem before. I'm the first one to have it.
Surely, a software cannot make a hardware not working? If it's broken, then how on earth has that happened? I have never dropped it.
such things happen quite often its most certainly not software related.
put it on your heater in your rom, let it lay for a while when the heater is warm, try to make a call if it works then you most likely have a cold solder point in the microphone. you could try to open it up if you know how to solder and just reheat pins around the microphone if not i wouldnt suggest doing it
How could this have happened? Do you think I may have exposed it to too much cold?
It comes like this from the factory, you cant do anything about it. If its a cold soldering all it takes is one drop or the phone getting warm and cooling off. The point will start to diisconnect sooner or later.

So in order to fix it, I need to replace the earpiece? These god damned smartphones makes me wanna go back to dummyphones. I remember this old K700i of mine. I could drop it and even on purpose throw it in walls or the floor without anything breaking it. But smartphones break as time passes. Where's the good old quality gone?

You dont need to replace. Btw this can happen tooo all electronic devices. Of course depending on the qualtiy of the soldering.
However dissassembling it and reheat the solder point usually does the trick. If you know how to do it or maybe somebody you know can do it for you. Theres a big chance you only need to solder the pin around the speaker.
I wish you luck

Hi there mate! Did you find a solution to your problem? I have the exact same problem and i'm thinking about taking the damn thing to the Sony ericsson technical support.
Hi, I tried to do juopnutbear wire trick s-off and nothing has done as I was doing in the program called ControlBear.exe in the end it gets me error and writes "still sober". What can that mean? I tried to do it like 20 times help me please I need to get my phone working really need an advice!!!n\

Go to the troubleshooting page for JuopunutBear on the unlimited.io website and follow the ROM/Data Recovery instructions.

wire trick
im a total noob and i have done wire trick on 2 phones with ease (2nd attempt). i would suggest along with following the instructions on the site, also have a you tube video walkthru handy. i think the key is the timing and the video is really helpful. funny how ur thread headline makes it look like the method is to blame when its clearly not.
Had the same problem many times. Had to use the wire trick 3 times and ran into the same problem you are having. The best advice I could give you that most of the people on her probably wouldn't agree with: when you first start the wire trick, place your wire in the outer hole and leave it there, when it says to "do the wire trick now", tap the other end of the wire on the SD metal piece for a good half of a second then tap again for a second. Worked just fine for me. Let me know if this works.
Wire trick
I also had troubles with s-off. Im thinking the way i got it to work is restarting the computer and pulling the battery on my phone. load back into fastboot and run the juopnutbear exe again then try the wire trick again. and again. it took me about 15 tries to get it to work. i only restarted my computer once and when i got the wire trick to work i was holding the wire in place untill it said it worked and letting the phone settle. then i had to pull the battery again then boom s-off. after that my custom recovery was gone and my bootloader was also locked again so i had to go through the steps to unlock that again. it was a pain but well worth it.

I fully agree with you.
It's a matter of luck to be honest.
Just keep trying, you'll eventually get it. It took me a few tries, but it worked perfectly.
Once you see s-off, you'll have a sigh of relief and realize your new freedom!
I agree, both phones I've done only worked by putting the uninsulated end of a copper wire in the pin hole first and then touching the ground on the SD card. I tried touching them at the same time for 20-30 times over two days and got nothing. Used a piece of copper wire from a light ballast and just stripped both ends. If it says still sober, exit an rerun the program. You don't have to touch it the first time it says to either. Let is scroll 4-5 times and be ready to touch the ground quickly several times when it says to. It's worth the effort to be able to run the Rom of your choice.
Let's see if we can get this going.

When my phone bricked like this twice (both times from thermal protect shutdown)
I had to pull the battery, wait 30 seconds and reconnect it. I posted a guide awhile back with some pics.

Okay, so i'm the actual user with the TCP brick. I have a screwdriver set, but i don't havea torx bit that small, and honestly i don't really want to take it apart unless it is a MUST. Would letting the battery drain do the same?

I must of lucked out then, my phone was in this state after running benchmarks back to back. I kept plugging and unplugging from wall charger and pressing power button. After many times it finally showed charging animation and eventually booted.

I've heard that it sometimes comes back to life if you leave it alone or get it reasonably cold.
When it happened to me I left it unplugged for 24hrs, and got nothing but the looping LG cycle. Left it plugged in looping for 24hrs and no go.
Left it off the majority of the day before I got tools, got off work, shopped, got home, still cycled, so I figured screw it at that point, and went for the battery pull. Powered up instantly after.
I'm not sure just how long it would take to drain, considering it would be doing nearly nothing in the off state. Then again I've heard of people somehow charging it like that for a few hours and having it work also. Good luck regardless though.

From that, it makes me want to put the damn thing in the freezer lol. But that risks moisture damage. Anyway, do you know what actually causes this to happen? i mean, it was supposed to just be a Build.prop tweak. After every other soft brick, i could let it sit, go into recovery, and just restore from a back-up. But letting go of that, Could i just plug it in, and leave it in download mode for a few day/week whatever until the battery dies? Failing that, how would i recharge my phone afterward?
UPDATE:Checked my screwdriver set, have t4,5,6. If all else fails, ill go for the pull.

Yeah no freezer, you can get it relatively cold just placing it in the stream of cold air from your house or car A/C for 3-5 minutes.
I do not know what causes it to happen, now to be clear, it's the brick where it will not power on at all unless usb is plugged in correct?
Also, I think it actually charges in download/fastboot mode. I may be mistaken though.
The phone should start charging itself afterward with little issue, if you successfully drained it anyway. (again I remember reading a few posts awhile back about people who accidentally ran there phones to 0 battery and ALSO got the weird loop syndrome.) I think it was MysteryEmotionz that mentioned that you could leave it for a few hours in fastboot/download and it would be ok to start charging again.

Yes, thats correct. Powers on only via USB. Well, i'll try everything you mentioned, and use battery pull as a last resort. I'm 15 and my dad would be pissed if i took it apart and didn't know what i was doing lol. Now, saying that, please don't view me as clueless, i am relatively knowledgeable, but iv'e never seen anything like this before, and it' really the first time iv'e gotten a problem i can't fix. Also, it's my first android with a built-in battery, kind of a nuisance. Anyway, i'm going off topic. Thank the community for the help, and i'll you know what happens c:

Just go slow, reaaaaly slow when pulling the back cover off, and be sure NOT to use your finger to pry the battery connector up, so it doesn't come off the board. Also, do find a TORX for the pesky bottom screws, so you don't end up stripping them. Best of luck, you'll be fine.
If you're really hesitant to try, just take it back to where you got it if you have insurance, considering you're wiped at this point..

I have a Torx T-5 that seems to fit perfectly. I may yet pull the battery, i'm just afraid to crack the black glass. I'm usually okay at assembly/disassembly, but this device seems rather more fragile than what i'm used to.

Yeah I was crazy paranoid the first time, just keep working around and shim something under the tabs you do get to pop open.
Second time I did it in like 2 minutes start to finish. I do remember the first time that you can hear the glass as you stress it, it is more flexible than you think but surface area is gonna be key when you start prying. WORST worse case, you break it, and get a cheap replacement on ebay or ignore it outright and get a body glove case for it.
I gave up on using it without a case, the glass is pretty but its way too slick, that phone can slide off of a 1 degree slope I swear.

No kidding, i got the bodyglove case with the pink skin from AT&T store, Because my first lgog cracked from a 3-inch fall. I kid you not, it cracked the upper left corner, touch didn't work at all. Had to get a replacement. Anyway, i think i'll wait until later tonight. I always perform better when im tired; i'm a night person. Anyway, i got ya. Shim the tabs, be wary of the sound of the glass, and DO NOT use your finger for the battery connector. Thank you.

Came up how far? I'd have to look at the service manual to check, I believe the camera is connected by a ribbon cable so it might be just a little stubborn. in Picture#4 from my thread you can see the camera came up a little but I don't even remember worrying about it.

The only reason it came up so far is because it stuck to the case as it was lifted. But i got it down it was simple, unscrew all the little philips, lift up on the Plastic cover, jimmy the camera and boom. i'm gonna put it back together and let you know what happens.

Sounds good, glad its working again. The only thing that made it do this to me was thermal, and I was purposely overclocked to the wall doing benches at the time. When the option is available, in for example most of houstonn's ROM's / Kernels, I set the thermal throttle to max at 60 degrees in trickster mod, and in my experience, dvhexer's kernels behave really well in regards to automatic throttle based on thermal.
Editing a build prop setting itself should have made zero change until a reboot anyway. Were you crazy undervolted maybe? I'm just curious cause I'm always trying to avoid having to take the phone apart if I don't have to.

But first thing i do on new ROM is check out the settings. but as soon as i checked that TCP option, it just bricked! Anyway, I appreciate your help, saved my ass. I think i'll stay away from beanstalk for now. Kernel maybe not supported? Or did i just get unlucky. in any case, thanks. 5star advice sir.
