So I just got my note today, and was on my way to rooting it, but when in download mode it can't find the drivers for msm8x60. I installed the Samsung drivers for mobile devices. Any help would be great!

You don't root the device, you flash a rooted rom. What exactly are you doing?

If you are on ICS version,
this is not an app but, many versions of stock ICS rom have been rooted with this method, you can read the thread and try : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
Ok so how about gingerbreak app. ??

As far as I know, gingerbreak has very rarely worked on the SGS2. Definitely doesn't work on ICS, as the name indicates.
Only 99% certain, here are 150 pages to confirm/refute...
ZacQ8's link is the only non-pc root method available - 99.99% sure about that.
Should be more popular because of that, IMO (said the man who doesn't use ICS...)
few people have posted that they sucessfully rooted their S2 through gingerbreak.. Only if you extract files in right folder...and also i am not on ICS till now.

Just use the method posted by @ZACQ8. It takes only few minutes, it's secure and works fine. That CWM "live" version can even do backups, restores and etc.
We really need apps like "universal androot'" for galaxy s2 .. I just rooted my motorola droid through this app its so simple and easy...just a one click away no need to get in to recovery mode.i hope someone is working on a similer app like this for s2 ..

Bin4ry has developed a script to root any ICS and above device. Search for it.
Thanks for your help but didn't work.keeps saying remote device not detected. I tried it a few different ways even though it does say it is done but when I check it isn't. busy box and superuser are installed but still no root.

There are several ways to root your Android phone, but one of the easiest to use software is universal androot
Thanks .I forgot that one I'll give it a go .I've tried just about every thing else .I'm not sure it will root 4.1.1 I'll soon find out if it does I'll post it .

Hi all I'm a new member here so please excuse me if there is a fix in the forums that I didn't find.
I own a nexus 4 and I rooted it using an application but didn't unlock the bootloaders. The root checker says it's rooted and I have supersu access but when I boy it I don't see the lock under the Google logo. So I Wanted to try the xperia z feeling so I flashed a ROM of it. When it booted I noticed nothing changed except an xperia launcher. note when android 4.3 came out I didn't get the ota updated so I suspected it's because of the ROM and I want to go back to stock android and I'm not able to do it. I lost my backup while trying to upload it to drop box. Please help me
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
You probably used a tool kit for root is my guess and those same toolkits can bring you back to stock if this is what you desire.
I guess I'm not fully clear on what your after but when changing ROMs just boot to recovery, wipe ALL, then flash ROM and whatever else needed (gapps kernel etc)
I suspect you didn't do a full wipe when flashing your new ROM.
If I didn't answer your question fully just let me know

It's not working it gets sick at waiting for device. Is it possible to use a backup from someone else and restore it on my phone?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Yes, sounds like you don't have debbuging turned on
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
It's on.I don't know what to do I can't even flash stock image

Do you have adb access

Doesn't restoring another backup damage IMEI ? It happened to a friend and his phone was useless
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I don't won't to sound rude but I feel you have a lot of reading to do before you mod your phone. The only way you can loose your imei is with great neglect.
Also learning at least the basics to adb should be the first thing you do before you root your phone.
Again, not trying to be rude here, but if you don't do some research, at least the minimum like read all the stickies in your phone section, you have a real high chance of running your 350$ phone.

No offense taken. I know that I'm not that Good in android but I did own a Motorola defy and I rooted it easily and used alot of Roms on it it was a mistake to not unlock the bootloaders. and the imei issue happened to my friend and we both wondered why it happened. I really appreciate you helping me. And o really want to get my phone back to stock. I thought about using warranty but I'm in Jordan so I can't I have to do everything by myself.

I did install adb drivers on my pc
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
At this point if you want stock your next step will be to make sure adb is working, open a terminal/cmd and type
adb devices
If you see yours there then you can move on, if not need to debug a bit
