Hi,
My Xperia S suddenly quit vibrating at all, not for (text) msg's, incoming mail/sms etc, and haptic feedback for the 3
bottom keys doesnt work as well as that for the keyboard. Yesterday for some reason it stopped, but after a while it
returned. However, atm there's no vibrating at all again, which is annoying since I dont like to check everytime if I have a
msg or not.
I did not turn it off myself, and checking the settings it's still on. Furthermore nothing happened to the phone in terms of
mechanical damage. I did not recently (last few days) install new apps, but updated to firmware 6.1.A.2.45 5 days ago.
I dont think that has anything to do with the problem though, since the problem occurred only yesterday.
Phone software is just the original stock software.
Anyone recognizing this problem and perhaps has an idea on how to solve it? I'd be very thankful...
Thanks in advance,
Nanoxy

Hm actually I hoped it could be some software bug... I wouldnt be happy to
send it to sony etc... too much trouble
Isnt there some code I can dial to check if vibration works at all? I think I read somewhere about it but cant find it now...
And, if I use "back up and repair" function of pc companion, and repair using a back up of lets say 1 week ago, will I lose any data?
I mean of course I lose things I did this week, but for the rest are there things I should know before trying this?
Same here ever sinceci updated to ics ( any chance you live in belgium too)?

But well, total reset + restore with back up does not help... I find it hard to believe that its a hardware problem though...
how's that possible for no reason :s

Yeah mine worked all the time, but stopped working at a moment not close to an update...
besides, vibration is not AT ALL working... I cant even force it to vibrate after installing some
of those sad "vibrator" apps or whatever... I'm afraid the only thing I can do is let it repair, which totally sucks.

Got the same problem with my Acro S ...
Same problem on my Xperia S. Ran the vibrator test without any issues - doesnt seem to be a hardware problem.
There's always something.

I have the newest update installed. I would rather not reinstall but it seems like it's my only choice. #Sadguy
I updated and still have the problem. sucks!
this was covered in another thread.. I can't recall where but the fix for this is related to the in pocket lock setting...
go into menu > settings > display
disable 'in pocket' detection..
reboot your phone..
after reboot, you may enable it again if you use that feature or leave it off.
PROFIT !!
I take no credit for this fix. I don't remember who discovered it but I'm sharing it because it bothered me after the update as well.
If this works/helps, remember to hit that magic thanks button
I've tried that and it doesn't work...only thing so far that works is a reboot

This isn't a device/hardware issue either. Something causes the sensor to shut off or fail. I feel this is software related.

I downloaded androsensor from the market, and you're right the prox sensor just stops responding... Says waiting for event, and after a reboot it gives an output of 1.2 our 39.4 inches.... Not sure what the prob is. I read on another forum that out may have something to do with rooting the phone, but I don't adhere with this. Are you guys with the problem rooted?

had the same problem. turning off "in-pocket detection" worked for me.
Just to confirm. Once I disabled the in pocket feature the proximity sensor works just fine.
Once you disable the in pocket feature you will need to power off your phone than re power it up and it should be fine.

Anyone still having the problem? I am. Im on the latest OTA and did a hard reset via recovery. Moto forums seem to think it has something to do with Bluetooth. Is it a known hardware issue? Resetting the phone always fixes it.
Ya mine does that too....i never ever use blue tooth so that cant be the only issue..bluetooth is off

please help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Hello,
I bought recently the new SGS3 and after a week or two of using I noticed the phone loses all the sounds despite all of them are turned on and not being on minimum. After a while the sounds get back and everything works fine. At first I thought it might be from the settings because I set up silent mode for all notifications and I thought it may turn all the sounds off, despite it normally shouldn't. After playing for a while with the phone I realized the issue appears randomly without any reasons while I was playing game or simply navigating through the phone. If anyone had experienced the same issue or have an idea what could be the problem (software, hardware, settings, OS, etc) or how it can be solved, please respond. Any answer is appreciated as the problem is quite annoying as I'm missing calls because of it.
Thank you.
Phone details:
Samsung Galaxy S III
Android version - 4.0.4
Baseband version - I9300BOLF1
Kernel version - 3.0.15-782020
Build number - IMM76D.I9300XXBLFB
P.S. Restart of the phone doesn't help as I already tried it. The issues is related to all the sounds not to the vibration, the last works fine.

Thank you for your advise JJEgan, unfortunately it didn't help neither. Yesterday I did the factory reset and left it as it is, didn't restore any of my previous settings or apps, didn't install anything additional, just wanted to see if the problem will appear again, and unfortunately it did.
Anything else I can try or I should take it to a service?
Thank you
I have the same problem with notification sounds. The problem appears when i turn off notifications on apk like im+ or Yahoo messenger. Is there any other solution rather than factory rest?

Hi guys,
This is my first post.
I just got a Sony Z2, and yesterday I updated it to latest firmware 17.1.1.A.0.402 using flashtool. After that, everytime when I switch off my phone and turn it on, the message of "...android.process.acore has stopped" appeared.
I tried to flashed the phone again using PC Companion to re-update the same firmware. I though the error message has gone but than it is still there.
I have tried several ways as mentioned in this forum but the problem seem to be there. I don't see any problem/error caused by this error message yet.
Any idea/solution to completely remove the message?
Go into settings > apps > all apps, clear all data for anything relating to contacts then all will be fine, make sure contacts are backed up tho of course

I also have the same issue as the OP. It particularly happened after I upgraded to .402 using PC companion. The message will appear always after restarting. My devices has not been rooted. Tried to clear data and cache for contact apps, but after restarting, the message appeared again. I am still lazy to do a re-install because aside from the message appearing only after a restart, there are no other major effect to my Z2's performance. but clearing it will be nice though.
I have the same thing when i touch the phone immediatly when it just restarted, but when i restart and leave it untill screen goes off i don't get the message.

Hi guys,
Thank you for your info.
I tried to disable contact sync of Viber and I think the message has temporarily gone. Sometimes it still pop up but not as often as before I disabled the contact sync of Viber.
Apparently, this problem is caused by contact synchronisation between Viber, Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp, etc. Other users, such as Samsung phone users, reported that they have the same issue but when they turned off contact sync of the above-mentioned apps, the error message somehow has gone.
To be honest, I have just recently switched to android from iPhone, and I have been usings iOS for years and never seen any kind of issue/error like this on iOS. However, Sony Z2 is one of the greatest phone I ever owned and I am so happy with it, specially its crazy battery life.
Hope you guys will share your solution here if someone can fix it permanently.
Cheers,

i had this problem, amongst others stopping my phone. i pulled the sim card out, then rebooted the phone. the phone then showed it was updating all apps i let it boot up and it seemed to work. pulled battery and put sim card back in. and all ok so far. i have sent my phone 3 times away to vodafone for this repair, with android.clock stopping, android.phone stopped working and the phone actually crashing on the samsung screen and not even booting up. each time all they do is a factory reset. like duhhhh, i have never thought of that (sarcasm). i am hoping that doing this, will give my phone some sort of permanency in it's repair. i have not rooted the phone, it is stock.
Vodofone refused to replace the handset even though it had been in so many times for repair. word of advice. steer clear of vodafone. i am cancelling all my contracts with them.
sorry that went off topic, but i want a phone that works and vodafone will not help you in that matter.

Xperia's have unremovable batteries, maybe you should steer clear of Samsungs
Is that a good thing or a bad thing though? Cos sometimes taking a battery out is what could be needed to fix a problem.
But point taken. Perhaps a change of manufacturer would help

I know people who advocated pulling the battery from devices as the only answer but I've yet to come across a situation on any device which couldn't be handled with >adb reboot or a three finger reset.
There's actually a method on Xperia devices, to disconnect the battery and plug it back. It's called "Hard Reset". Yeah you don't take the battery out in reality, but this method does it in Matrix dimension. So, the consequences are the same.
