My i9100 has very very poor signal....i try a lot of modems (kh3, nelp3, etc) and roms (GB, ICS, JB) with no lucky. Is strange but when I take my phone from the bottom with hand (where the antenna is located), the signal immediately lost, and when i take phone from the top and put it upside down, i have one or two bars of signal.....I have seen this page: http://www.mobilerdx.com/2012/05/samsung-galaxy-i9100-s2-no-service.html# but I guess that is not my case because I have a little signal. What can I do??? Is a hardware issue??? Please help and sorry for my bad English....

Did you give the modems time to settle? They're like roms in that you have to give them a few battery cycles to see the difference between them.
Also, what rom are you on? You can refer to the thread in my sig for the info needed to get the best answers..
Try this network signal speed booster

Here is the [REF] Galaxy S 2 Shipped Modem Collection
as what the guy way above me said, kernels are like ROMS, usually just flashing and then using the same modem for 3-5 days should tell you how well it performs in your country and with you Mobile Network operator. Please remember that it takes around 2-3 days for a Modem to "settle" and achieve optimum performance, so don't judge how good a Modem is straight after flashing. That's where a lot of people fail when asserting battery drain.
but you can test your signal strength here: Network Signal Info
i hope this will help you!
cheers
Thank you guys for your replies but my problem is more serious. No matters which rom or modem i am, the phone signal is practically 0 all the time, only when i take my phone from top and turn the phone and extend my harm, i can take a little signal, or when i am very close to operators antenna i cant take decent signal.... the phone is useless now to make and receive calls....i think maybe is a hardware problem, but the little signal makes my think is software, i dont know......i´m crasy now....

Your problem could be either way.
Try this app and tell me if your problem is resolved: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sibbor.getril&hl=en
Root is needed to run the app
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
It seems to be a hardware problem. Insert your SIM to other phone and check the signal.
SOLVED.......I do it!!!!
It seems that my problem was the white cable connector on top, or something like that, because when I put a small wire from the white cable (with a small cut in the coverage) to the external antenna input, the signal comes back like a charm!!!. I leave a picture of the mod in case anyone needs to do the same and I hope this helps. Thank you guys for your answers, and again sorry for my bad English.....Jokesy, i will tray anyway your recommendation to find any error with the RIL, thank you....:good:

Hey guys,
I do got some issues with the WIFI reception on my gtab. The signal is always very low and weak. I tried every rom, even did an NVFlash to go stock but that didnt help either. I did put carbon stickers on the whole device though, can that have any impact? Are there more people with this problem and if so have you got stickers on the device? Please let me know, thanks in adance!!
Peace!
After submitting this post my connection dropped which it also does more often.
Anyone has a clue?
3sade,
I actually had this same problem about 2 weeks ago. I would be directly over my WiFi AP and had a weak signal (2bars) no matter what ROM I used. I called up GTab support (310) 228-4000 and opened a RMA with them. Despite what's I've read in other posts, support was very nice and willing to help for me. They will tell you that you'll have to remove the carbon stick from the device and restore it to the stock ROM. That part sucks but when I got my gtab back (14 business day wait), it is in better working condition then when I sent it to them (the screen is more responsive, seems less sluggish with the stock ROM).
I don't know if this is what you were hoping to hear, but I thought I would pass it along.
I'm sorry to reply to an old thread but I've just recieved a hannspad sn10t1 which I believe has similar if not the same hardware as the GTab. I'm having the same issue with wifi connection, if I actually touch it to the router then I might get 3 bars! I definately cant leave the room and still be connected.
Have I got a faulty unit or is there a software or settings fix? By the sound of this its a hardware fault but I'd rather try and find a fix first.

Most definitely a hardware issue. It sound like your antenna is not even connected at all. I would contact the manufacture for a RMA. If not crack it open and find the antenna
Hey guys,
I hope someone can help me or give me some good advices.
I have a wifi problem. Before the GS2 I had the HTC HD2 and never had any big problems with wifi. No matter if I was home or in the uni, it was always great.
With the GS2 though, its a wonder to get a good wifi signal.
I know when I say now, that I just have 1 line at the wifi bar you guys gonna kill me!!
I don't care about if it's 1 line or 2, the problem is, that this 1 line I lose everytime I wanna use the net. I never had this problem before. Also I can tell, that this problem I have everywhere I am. In the uni I have 1-2 lines, at my favourite cafe I have 0-1 lines just like at home. This is driving me crazy. I can't use the net at all like this. I don't have any other problems, not at all, just this wifi problem. I'm not sure if this pictures I took are useful, but I tried something out.
I did the speed test with the speedtest.net app in 4 different ways.
1. Picture: I hold the phone the normal way.
2. Picture: I hold the phone normal but raised my arm in the air.
3. Picture: I turned the phone around and hold it that way.
4. Picture: I turned the phone around and raised my arm in the air.
I hope someone can help me or give me any advices.
I love this phone. It's the best phone I have ever had so far, but I hate the bad wifi signal...
Same here
I used to have signal with other devices, yet with Galaxy S II, I get very poor signal!
I haven't noticed this with mine, I find the reception wifi and otherwise very good. Have you flashed a new modem? Maybe that's the issue?
Well I flashed alot so far, but always the same thing. Always bad signal. Now I'm back to stock rom with root, nothing else.
I have no problems with my wifi connection...
the top one is from the same room as the router, the bottom one is from the furthest I can get from the router (about 10m away, 2 walls and the kitchen in between). Speeds are lower than what I can get on the netbook (25Mbps and 16Mbps respectively) but that's not unexpected
I also had no issues when I used the pub's wifi a few days ago

Can this be a hardware problem? Or maybe the software? The ones without any problem can you give me information about the rom and modem etc. you use?
I'm on stock KE7, baseband is KE4 (sim-free UK phone). No rooted yet cos after years and years of WinMo, I need to get my head round all that Android malarkey... so confusing when it's not something you're familiar with
Hi folks,
I wanted to find out if the HTC One X "squeeze fix" potentially works to address some of the signal issues some of you may be having. It will help us understand if we have a hardware issue, merely a network issue, or possibly both.
Here's a thread that explains the issue and the fix for the One X:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688538
If you all could so kindly attempt to do the same (we have a few points of connection, so take off your battery cover to make sure you are squeezing the correct point to address the appropriate signal issue you are having) and report back.
If you DO NOT have a signal issue, this thread does not apply to you, so please kindly refrain from derailing the thread.
Thanks all!
Demo video for One X WIFI signal issues:
The two phones have completely different chassis so I'm not squeezing my phone.
We have identical prong connectors. Take off the plastic cover and have a look. Like I said, this is an inquiry poll to find out if we have a potential hardware issue since some people have been experiencing signal issues (in layman terms, this is fact-finding thread).
If we do not, great. Nobody can continue to argue that we have a build quality issue.
If we do, at least we can track it somewhere. There is no need to call this "non-sense" or to tell me that I'm holding my phone wrong. Jesus...

I am in Annapolis and for me, the signal is fantastic (whether I pinch the back, squeeze the right side, left, hold upside down with my left foot in the air, with my right eye closed..) Seriously, for me I am very happy. Today for example, regular CDMA tested with Speedtest resulted in near T1 speeds and that...was actually inside an elevator! Yes, I am very happy with almost every aspect of the EVO LTE. Fyi, I am rooted with Fresh 1st version, stock kernel etc, just so I could get the application links fixed.
If there is any hardware issues with signal, wifi or CDMA, I don't see it and have had the cell for two weeks tomorrow. My wifi connects to my wireless-N Netgear dual band around 30mb down and whatever up. Both CDMA/wifi work well, no matter how I hold it etc. Hopefully there isn't a bad batch of cells out there but maybe there is.
Thanks for your input. Really appreciate folks like you who give useful feedback!

Service is kinda funky where I live so I tried this to see if there was a hardware issues and I can confirm there is no issue with my phone. Squeezing, pinching, pushing.....didnt change anything with the signal on the analyzer. Just confirms thats the service blows here.
Hello all
I have a non rooted and completely standard S3 with I9300XXEMG4 baseband .
I am however using the zerolemon 7000mh battery.
Now since the last update to MG4 my signal seems worse.
If I have my phone lying on the table it'll get 3 bars signal strength and "G" data .... Im not in a fast data area.
So my phone sits with 2 or 3 bars signal ..etc 95 dBm and 9 asu .
Without moving the phone if I then plug in the charger either USB or the Wall socket within a few seconds my phone signal disappears all together ..... it goes to Unknown network and out of service ect just showing the circle with the line through it meaning "no service".
Unplug the charger and within a few seconds or a minute my signal returns.
I know this sounds strange but im going to try and get someone to video it so I can upload it .
Anyone know whats going on here or how to sort it other than smashing up the phone and claiming on insurance ??

Its not identical ..... I have supplied more info than before and never got much interest before apart from "test with original battery" which I already did or wouldn't have bothered with the question.
I also don't recall mentioning the issue when plugging in a charger in the "other" post either ????
The "other " post was 3 WEEKS AGO ..... I don't think you can call it spamming but if it makes you feel better then fine .
However if you feel the need or it makes you feel better just ban me or report me .
Oh and thanks for your help
hello to comunity,
i have the samsung galaxy s 2 gt-u9100 mobile phone and everything was perfect untill i opened the phone, the phone has problem at the back housing so i ordered a new one and replaced it, i made everything with caution and slowly. while i changed the back housing i opened the phone and everything was good untill i saw that there was no signal. i did it 2g and i see that there is onlu on raw ar the signal and sometimes none.
i opened the phone again and checked everything but saw nothing wrong. as i searched i saw that the GSM is this part and the cable that connects the antenna is this one . both of them are perfect.
i lost all my day trying with that , at start i had SlimRom 2 then i put the stock one via Odin but it didnt boot, stocked in the boot image (didnt wanted to search why ) so i flashed kernel again and then NeatRom, still no signal and then i went back to SlimRom. but the problem as i saw is not from the rom .
if anyone knows about that thing and tell me what to do i would be gladfull .
That bit is the antenna c/w speaker. There is a thread related to this about usb replacement.People mention about similar problems when they remove the antenna cable.
Heres a pic of spares I have, and look at the gold contacts on the antenna,as they need to be in good contact with the ones on the usb board.Maybe its that,or maybe new antenna is faulty.Try your old one in to eliminate that though. It could even be the antenna cable.
The thread is by someone whos name is Dugud,or similar

maybe take it to a shop with someone who knows what they are doing. I just had to do this with mine, I considered trying to get parts cheap and diy then I considered how much time and stress it could cause me = not worth it. It cost me £25 to have usb replaced, second thing I checked was the signal as I see many having problems with this - outcome is my phone is working sweet again and it only took a couple of hours of my time :cyclops:
Best of luck
Did you read that thread?.I seen a post on here once where someone said they removed that white antenna cable, then refitted it,and lost signal. Then they bought a new cable, which solved the problem.
Also, you dont know the condition of the part you changed, and theoretically you are meant to use anti static wristband and mat when your touching sensitive electronic components......lol
