Best ICS ROM these days? - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

I have an older ICS ROM flashed onto my GP5 that has been there for months and months (a very early port, I think the zip is 3-31.zip or something). There's been some recent developments like getting Bluetooth enabled which my ROM is lacking. Which one do you guys recommend and can you provide links?

They're all still pretty hacked together and all of them have major problems in some way or another. None have HW acceleration working to my knowledge, cameras still don't work, some are still having wifi issues. I believe the bluetooth is the only thing that's been fixed so far.

Ahh, okay, thanks. Yeah, my biggest issue is Wi-Fi being a little buggy. I use my GP5 as my primary cellphone these days and sometimes it will be offline and I won't know it. Oh well.
Edit: Mind telling me how you got 1.5GHz?

i use paranoid and did not have any problems with wifi..and rom is super customisable..onlu there is not voice search(never use it anyway)..for 1.5 ghz you need paid version of tegrac overclock

i prefer ParanoidAndroid also because it the pretty stable and one of the faster ICS roms for the YP-G70. Very smooth and not many bugs.
However, it does take a few tries to get Gapps on there.
you can get the rom here:

I'm in the same boat, ran some ICS rom's a ways back with no prevail. Been running GB chip rom now without any major issue asside from it being GB! My biggest issue with the ICS roms is all my music on my external SD would not read or would only read some music and give wrong tag info. After all, my 5.0 at heart is an mp3 player. Thoughts.......

Nope, verified/changed music path. Swapped storage locations with mod tools. The best I could get was a full read of each file, but wrong song info displayed. When I switched back to gb based rom, music read as it should. I use playerpro, and the issue was there and in the stock player.

Been on it for 3 days.... very good ROM IMO. Only thing I miss is the burst shots. If I need to use the camera I nandroid back to viper, but other than that I'm on cm10
yea thats what i figured to. i got viper4g to where i could run it everyday and still be ok. but for now i'll run this to see where it goes

That's because its reading your sdcard as sdcard2 and as ext_SD. Go in your settings and take out one of them in the scan media folders in the music app so its only looking for your files from one SD card.

I ran it since 8/18 and I fell in love with my phone again..so smooth and responsive, and multitasking is great..I did have a few issues like the GPS issue..I would get a GPS app..clear the agps data than I nandroid to sense Rom get a lock with maps nand back to cm..I also had the market issue not downloading ...but clearing data in framework fixed that..I have had bsod a few times but sticking my.phone under a lamp would usually fix that..it is still worth it..these problems all go away and leave you with the smoothest android experience I ever had..browsing is a pleasure , I love the easy themability with great themes in the play store..the camera needs some work yes..but it is so good that u may just overlook it ..I did and now cm is my daily and my meanrom backup I bust out when I know ill he taking some pics..
Really do love this ROM. Jelly Bean is a dream to use, smooth and fast, with a gorgeous interface. But, unlike many, I could not get my GPS to work, at all. I also didn't like that I couldn't record video and the camera app sucks. Also, I don't know how many people this happened to, but the speakerphone volume was very very low when making a phone call. When listening to music through the speaker the volume was fine, so it must be an issue with making phone calls. Some random force closes here and there weren't that big an issue.
These issues were enough to force me to go back to MeanROM, hopefully not for long though....
BTW: I was not S-OFF, I am currently working on getting S-OFF.
But tell me you couldnt feel the difference In overall smoothness...I don't know if that is bc of project butter or bc its aosp or both...I've never ran aosp..but geez it really is awesome..cm10 with HTC camera app would be the perfect phone..I would be 100% satisfied for once in my life ...even with the camera issues it is really difficult to go back to sense for me..I bounce back and forth to take photos of my daughter
Yes, I can't stress enough how much I loved the HTC camera burst shots. That said, JB aosp is unbelievably smooth compared to Sense and I just can't go back. Luckily, my GPS works fine and aside from the occasional proximity sensor issue, I have zero problems with this rom. It's been my daily driver for the last week.
When I tried an early august build the calendar app didn't work with my work's exchange account. that was a biggy for me. I think that issue is fixed in the latest build, but I haven't tried it yet.
GPS isn't working for me. any ideas on a fix?

[Q] best ICS or JB ROM?

Hey guys, I'm working a lot of hours and I need to have a reliable phone, which ICS or JB ROM is best? I'm new to this phone, so, I don't know what my options are.

I would say epinter one is the most reliable one for now. i bet he is cooking somthing good with his atm ROM and the leak also, so it would be even better.

Did you say reliable?
Then forget about both ICS and JB and go with GB. Any variant will do.
ICS/JB ROMs are just too unfinished yet to be a reliable daily driver, IMO. People are woking hard on them though, so there is no doubt they will one day become as reliable as good old GB.
Agreed.

This is a very accurate summary of where we stand. I'm still running Nottachtrix 1.3.1 even though Nottach left the Atrix over a month ago, just because everything works on it. Bluetooth, wifi, HWA, Ubuntop, all cameras, and even a decent selection of themes for both android and linux.
But with the new leak libs, there is sure to be a fantastic CM9/10 ROM that takes advantage of them. We just have to be patient.
Hi
If you're not using thoroughly your phone, the CM10 form Epinter is now reliable enough for a daily use.
I was using CM7 since months, and after trying CM10 last week, i'm still using it and have found no real limitations for a basic usage.
I'd recommend you to keep a GB based rom if you want to have the most reliable system and if video recording is a primary need for you.
Just my $.02: I don't even use the "latest" GB 2.3.7 ROM: I've returned to Neutrino 2.6 EE (the latest is 2.91 at this writing). CM 7.2 RC1 was the most stable + efficient ROM from the CM gurus for my Atrix. I charge my phone once every two or three days too.
Think about driving a car that everyone laughs at that's never needing to go to the shop. Gits ya there, gits ya back, reliably and without anyone really paying attention to it, and it just goes and goes and holds its own against everyone else. Newest doesn't always mean best; trustworthiness does.
Epinter's CM10 worked OK for me despite the few well known bugs.
You might give the brand new AtrICS ROM a shot. It's hard to believe that it could already be as stable as it claims to be, but with working hardware acceleration, it should have some bugs fixed as compared to CM10.

I switched from epinter's CM10 to AtrICS today and found it to be a fairly usable. You trade some features for others.
I prefer the interface of CM10 to AtrICS, but AtrICS feels really snappy thanks to the HWA. I'll probably get used to ICS after a while. The Camera works well, but, like others I noticed that after switching from the back camera to the front, there was some corruption on the right side of the screen. Going into Camera Settings and unchecking then rechecking the Widescreen box fixes this. There are problems with the unlock screen of AtrICS; it can be slow to appear when you press the power button and I have seen the screen turn on for a split second before turning right back off. If you let the phone go into a deep sleep, you may see a black screen for a minute, in my case the unlock screen did eventually appear. I've had one reboot right after closing a bunch of apps running in the background then trying to open a browser.
WiFi works great with AtrICS and mobile data feels faster than I remember.
My mobile gone hot after a few minute use AtrICS, and experienced network lost. The phone also hot with epinter 's version.
Restored TopSmart1.3. GB has the stablity I trust.

ROM overview

I am running the Newts OnE XxX RLS 5.1.1.. Anyone else running it? What are your issues? I have run numerous ROM's in the past and by far this is the fastest I have used. Even a deoxed version of AOSP and this thing is faster. I have noticed a few things like the volume is ridiculously high and the camera for Instagram is inop, GPS is a bit wonky at times, Since I can't post in dev side I figured I would post here. I'm curious about your thoughts.

I've been using both of Neo's AOSP and AOKP roms. Not sure if/how I'll ever go back to a Sense Rom. I just went to AOKP 1.6, and now the dreaded SD error has started coming up. SD Card works fine, but can't do anything with it.
I will say, while aesteically AOSP/AOKP is fantastic to me, the fact I really can't use the internal memory is a turn off. That's 16 GB just sitting there.

That's not normal, you should be able to use your internal storage. I just didn't want JD thinking it was part of AOSP not being able to access internal storage.

I think this will probably work to get you the blue you're looking for. I haven't tried it, but I tried the rezone red for sense 4 and it worked fine. I did catch a few visual artifacts, but it could've been something else I did to cause it.
It says in the first post that twrp doesn't work, but the red flashed just fine with the latest twrp.
Also, it may not be as FULLY themed as the rls3 zone tore apart to theme. I would definitely make a backup before trying though.

I've been on Neo's AOSP rage ROM for a while now. I tried his AOKP around 1.5. I liked it, but I wasn't a fan of the "don't touch the data toggle or your phone will die" thing... But I've never had any sd card issues.
That said, I've loved his rage AOSP. The only problem I have is concerning audio quality. There are some weird things that still happen that I can't figure out. Sometimes it sounds like only one audio channel is playing, and I've had strange results with the awesome beats apps. My current best-solution for this problem is just to remove all of the beats/awesome beats/music fx/ etc stuff from the ROM before installing.

The streaming and recording seem to be an issue with the JB and the rezound. It might effect other devices but not sure on that. That something that we will just have to wait for a fix on.

On Ineffibalis Deus for now. Haven't seen anything else that has everything working.
Dumped down the innertubes from my Arnova 10 G2.

Have you compared Ineffibalis to Nilsp's Business Sense 3.6 rom?
Asking becuase I like you need most features to work like BT calling for when I'm driving etc.
I find everything to be working in Business Sense except the integrated Voip calling can not send DTMF tones.
I left a question about the SIP client in the Q&A section but no one has responded.

why is BT such an issue with those roms? why is it so hard? also, curious to why HD video doesn't work properly in the JB roms? i had trouble with pretty much all video, SD/HD.
maybe ill try rage or tron, see if that can be a daily driver until JB gets fixed.

I'm trying to find one where WiFi tether stays working -_-

I'm also finding this to be an issue. I cannot get WiFi tether to work properly in almost any ROM. JB ROMs don't work with android WiFi tether and the AOSP ROMs won't let me use encryption. I'm tempted to jump ship and goto a desensed ROM or a sense 4.0 ROM till things smooth out.
