Unable to boot CWM - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hi,
I've just rooted my Sony Ericsson xperia neo, unlocked the bootloader using Sony's website, and just installed CWM using the 'install-cwm1' script in the usual 'CWM-Install.rar' file used for installing Clockworkmod recovery.
Everything has worked fine so far, and I have root access and unlocked bootloader. The script pushes all the files correctly to my Neo and seems to install CWM just fine. However, I can't seem to boot my phone into CWM at all.
I've tried holding volume down and power, volume up and down and power, and the back key and power, but none of them get me into the CWM menu at boot, they just boot the phone as normal.
Anyone got any suggestions, or am I missing something really obvious here? I did a search on the forums and couldn't seem to find anything about this problem.
Thanks for your help,
Rory.

Tried this, still just boots as normal.

Try to flash a custom kernel.. They are pre rooted and have CWM already installed!

Dont press the buttons at the same time.
Press the power button untill it starts to turn on. then keep pressing and letting go and pressing (Very quickly) the BACK button whilst the boot screen appears.
Or you can install xperia reboot options from the market (There is a free version in the x10 thread from DooMLoRD, who developed the app). That has the option to reboot into recovery, so if you have cmw installed correctly it will boot into it without having to press any buttons.
This is DooMLoRDs link to xperiarebootoptions app.

I think that in version which he installed(using install-cwm1.cmd) it's volume down for enter.

OK,,, But the advice still stands, dont press both buttons at once.
And the app will let him know if it is installed properly

Recovery mode? PLease Help

Hey guys,
A few months ago I rooted my phone and put the Cyanogen Mod rom in it.
Everything was working perfectly..until recently.
My touchscreen is not responding...and the touch pad is also not working.
The phone boots fine but I can't click on anything because the touchscreen is not working.
Anyways, I decided to reflash the rom thinking its a software issue rather than hardware.
But, How do I get back into recovery again?
Usually I would just use Rom Manager to boot to recovery but I can't access this app because I can't navigate to it using my touchscreen or touchpad.
I read that its Vol down plus holding power. I did that but phone continues to just boot normally. Am i doing something wrong.
Please answer.....Thanks...
it is vol down plus power, but you got the order reversed. hold vol down, then press power. once that's done, select recovery.
I tried your method as well (Volume down + Power) but no luck. I think my volume key doesn't work or something.....any suggestions?
I made some progress
Instead of volume down + power (which didn't work) I used back button + power which got me into recovery.
Only problem now is that I need to select recovery. I cant seem to do that because my volume down button doesnt respond when I press it.
Is there any other way to go down in this menu screen....the keyboard is not working at this screen and also it says this message: touch screen - failed
please help
Perhaps android commander can get you to recovery. google android commander and install it on your computer, turn your phone normally and plug it into the computer after its done. Run android commander and select your app, i do recall an option for reboot to recovery.
Yes, thanks for the tip. Android commander is great.
I tried using it to get to recovery. It wouldnt work though. I get the red triangle.
Then I tried flashing a rom using android commander. It worked....the rom installed fine.
Problem now, though, is my touch panel, volume keys, and track pad don't work. They didnt work even before I reflashed this rom.
In Hboot it says touch screen: failed.
Im not sure whats going on.
Is there any way to fix my touch screen. Am i missing something?

This is a hardware issue. So no matter what you flash this is going to continue since its not software related

[Q] Booting into Recovery

ok i just got an atrix and im aa bit uncertain about booting into CWM. i know on other phones ive had, i had to boot up with volume down and power. i tried that and nothing works, boots up like normal. tried volume up and power to. my bootloader should be unlocked, the boot screen that says motorola dual core says unlocked in the corner. CWM is installed, i flashed gapps, cuz the person i got it from forgot to put them on. any idea on how i can fix this?
(Download Rom Manager & install the cwm from itif your cwm is not working?)
Power + volume down takes you to the options, there you need to scroll down (with volume down) and use volume up for choosing android recovery.

Strange.. Are you keeping volume down pressed until you would have seen the options, you're not letting go before that or so? Is the volume rocker still functioning ok?
Otherwise just try quick boot from the market.

Hold power and volume down, keep holding volume down until you see the word fastboot appear. Then press the volume down button (7 times I think), until you see android recovery, then press the volume up button.
That should do it!

I never see it say fastboot, it just says unlocked up in the corner. All the time, when I'm not even trying to boot to recovery. I'm assuming that means the bootloader iis unlocked. But I do exactly what you guys are saying and I never see fastboot or anything like that

Something must have gotten messed up when you flashed a rom.. I'd say try flashing a fruitcake and start from there.

Issues after factory reset: No recovery, no root, no home button returning to desktop

Hi there,
Some weeks ago, after many months of low space problems, I did a factory reset instead of deleting app by app.
But after that, I started having some problems:
Home button doesn't returns to Home, but it still works for mousing off the screen when it's off
Recory is missing
I give apps root, but they don't turn root.
The home button ... well, I can survive without. The Recovery... I haven't used it since I installed it. But the root is very important, as I want to use many apps but I need root to use them.
So well, let's try another factory reset. But nothing changes. So... let's change the ROM. But hey! I need recovery for that...
I haved tried many times to root or unroot the mobile, but it doesn't works. I have done it using many ways in Windows and Ubuntu, but nothing works.
Do you have any ideas about how can I fix this problems?

Instead of tweaking your device by rooting it or unlocking it.. I suggest you to repair the phone's software by PCC or SEUS!

To install recovery use xparts from playstore!
Or if your bl is unlocked then flash any kernel using fastboot! Every kernel with itself has an inbuilt recovery!

I managed to access recovery. And I installed a ROM, hoping that it could repair easily all my problems, plus upgrading my phone at the same time. I installed this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880321
I downloaded all the .zips I saw, and thinking that I could merge all them into a single one, I did. I though that this was the way to do it.
I did a backup of the phone, and erased cache, dalvik and did a factory reset. I installed the merged .zip, and after reboot:
The phone boots, the "Sony Ericsson" screen lasts for a few seconds, then I get a black screen for a few seconds, and the "Sony Ericsson" screen appears again, to dissapear, and keeps looping indefinitely.
I have been trying for a while, but I'm unable to boot the Recovery or even the Download mode. Maybe I don't know how? What I do:
Press power until it boots, wait until Sony Ericsson logo appears, start pressing Vol Down again and again <-- This worked for me earlier for accessing recovery before installing the zip
Hold power, home, and Vol Down (When doing this, after each 10 seconds (after the Sony Ericsson logo fades away, the mobile vibrates shortly, like when powering it off)
Hold power, home, and Back
Hold power and back
Hold and Vol up
Have I bricked it? How could I repair this for installed each zip one by one?
Guess that by now, I'll have to search my wristwatch.
To Enter Recovery:
You have to press back key again and again while booting(on Sony logo appears).
To Download mode:
Power off the phone.
Then plug the usb while pressing back key.
To Fastboot mode:
Power off the phone.
Then plug the usb while pressing menu key.
To Install a stock rom:
Download a Stock rom.
Then flash it via Flashtool.
or
Use PC Companion to repair.

This was the solution. I though that it was some ****ty software that wouldn't work properly, but I have to say that it's intuitive, and have repaired my phone without problems.
Thanks a lot. This have returned my phone to the state of after-buy, which is why I did the factory reset that made so much problems. Thanks!

Help with installing TWRP Recovery

Hello Good People,
My Z Ultra arrived and it was already rooted from the previous owner.
I booted up into TWRP and couldn’t do a backup because it would not display completely on the screen, so I couldn’t select an features.
I had to reboot the device by holding the power button and the volume up key.
Sadly I can no longer access recovery.
I have holding the volume up button will reboot but it simply takes me to the desktop(normal boot)
I have rooted all my devices but this Z Ultra seems a bit more complicated than others.
Can some please walk me through the steps of exactly what files are needed to get me recovery back.
Also I have the TWRP Manager.app, can I choose a file can do it that way? if so which file name do I pick from the long list?
T.I.A.
I thought I resolved my issue by downloading:
ZU-lockeddualrecovery2.7.154-BETA.installer.zip
Option 1
And it reinstalled TWRP!
Device rebooted into TWRP, I created a background and rebooted the device.
Now I cannot boot/reboot into Recovery again;(
Someone said to press the up/down button a couple of times when you see the pink LED. I dont get a pink LED it goes straight to green.
Can someone please tell me what to do?
T.I.A.
The recovery may still be installed.
Turn off the device, when you see the Sony logo and the green light, hold the "volume up" button.
You should boot to recovery.
Another option is to install Xposed and the Wanam module. Then activate the Power Options menu, which allows you to reboot to recovery.
Thanks for the response.
I was able to get into recovery, and do a backup.
After the backup the phone will not reboot. It has been hours now and no button combo will get it to boot up
Need serious help please
Did you back up your TA initially? You might need to reflash to stock and start again using flashtool and the necessary ftf file.
I would recommended this. It was what helped me start off on my XZU.: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2569904

Yes, got it resolved.
It must have been a battery related issue during the flashing.
In the end combined with a hard reset got the device back up and running.
I lost my root and everything so now I need to locate a ROM for this Sony version.
Thanks!
Ndrutil on the Play Store is an easy way to boot from the rom into recovery also..

Recovery mode in Xperia 1

Hi, I've searched and searched and can't find a useful answer to a simple question - how do I enter the recovery mode in Xperia 1? The usual "press the power button together with Volume down (or sometimes up)" does not work! Another suggestion I found was to restart and quickly tap Volume down (or up) when the Sony logo appears. Also does not work. I sent a message to Sony support and received a reply stating "Unfortunately there is no recovery mode in Xperia devices" (I can upload the message if anyone cares).
So, can anyone tell me how can one enter the recovery mode in Xperia 1 and confirm that you actually did it?
I've entered recovery mode , after like 5 reboot, my phone was bootlooping and i got that screen's with android and i successfully flashed the original stock rom....... that was cool but i would know too how to enter in that

You need to flash recovery first but I don't think it's working on Android 10 as of yet, Sony phones don't come with a stock recovery.

Thanks mate, I guess that's what the Sony support was trying to tell me, but in an incomprehensible manner.
Don't have Android 10 yet, wanted to wipe the cache partition before updating, but I guess I'll wait for the update to come.
