We are all used to everyone dropping support for armv6, every day something happens...
However, Mozzila is trying to revive armv6, by putting official support soon, boot2gecko (apparently auto-correct on firefox on PC won't say it is a grammar mistake) optimized for armv6.
If you can't download from market:
For Firefox nightly, you can get it here
http://nightly.mozilla.org/
And here is aurora, pre-beta:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/aurora/
Honestly, one year ago (and even 2 months ago), I was a mozzila-hater... very slow browser on PC, no support (or the slowest browser back then) on my phone, so I guess I had all reasons...
But now, I see improvements each day! I just wanted a 64 bit native browser on my PC, and I installed waterfox, and I quickly felt in love, then installed official firefox
Enjoy Firefox and say GOODBYE to Chrome!! Seriously, I did.

On the nightly page there's a nightly specifically for armv6
I Installed, it works.

I tried it and it doesn't seem any faster than stock browser on the Dynamite33 AOKP ROM? What advantages does it have?

Seems to be the news of the day.
Thanks for sharing.

Felt fairly smooth to me ( I only checked Facebook, it had no lags)

It isn't faster, but it has all features of desktop firefox sync data with it and you have adblock extension and all that stuff (I don't recommend it tho, it is a CPU hog, will slow down like hell on our O1)

Yes, try desktop websites with high demandings, like xda forum, they are a bit slower (gecko renders a bit odd, tp be honest) but after that you have lag = 0

It seems like sites don't pick up that i'm viewing from a mobile device. Stock browser goes to mobile site but firefox always goes to the desktop version... Also, it lags every time I start a new tab because it loads all my history and everything.

for me it work's not bad at all, i like it.

It's slower than the default browser, I just spent 5 minutes trying to login into the forum using the app, the keyboard lags and it just takes a lot to render the page.

the thousand time I say it: dolphin is the same browser as stock (uses stock webkit) with some added features :|
The browsers that use a different render engine on Android are:
Puffin
Opera Mobile
Opera Mini
Dolphin BETA (no armv6)
Firefox
Chrome
Any other browser is the same as stock in terms of speed, if you think it is faster, it ISN'T! Placebo... 100% guarantee

Browser redirecting to porn sites

So while this behaviour is pretty rare it still happens to me ebry once in a while. My browser suddenly redirect from for example google to a porn site. If I press back I cant find any link to the site so I couldn't have clicked it myself. All my apps come from the appstore and I'm on the stock rom etc etc. Why is this and how can I prevent it?

I noticed that too on my un-jailbreaked iPad. I would suspect some resident XSS/javascript. Especially since the ipad is a closed/protected environment.
Funny thing is that it happened to me twice while browsing the forbes website which I would consider super serious
I cleaned all the cookies and stuff and seems to be gone since then...
PS: If someone knows more details regarding this attack and technical details I would be very interested. The fact that it even affects the iPad is fun
Use a more secure browser like Firefox and install AdFree.

I don't think any other post on XDA has made me crack up quite so much! Absolutely brilliant!!!!
Im trying to find a problem in this. More to the point though, are they any good?
I dont even think this is a galaxy s3 - only problem. I got this **** on my galaxy s1, now some times on my galaxy s3, when I was trying to visit xda devs homepage. I was so ****ing upset @@
And dont come with the "If you know what I mean" meme, this isnt ****in funny guys, thats just freaky annoying. If I'm searching for some useful stuff for my phone, suddenly there is a stupid relink to a site like "uporn" or some ****, I could smash my phone against the wall.
So, this is more or less a major problem on the android community, and I think, on iOS there is the same problem, especially on jailbroken devices.
hopefully someone can find the problem
btw I had this problem, when I was on my rooted ICS-Galaxy s1 and on my actually rooted s3 -.-'' Dont know if it has something to do with it, but I dont hope so. :S
I saw "porn" on the title and ended up here..... don't know why...
Does the problem occur only under 3G(4G w/e)? Or also under wifi?
Try deleting under your APN settings the proxy for your provider.... might be some prank been played to your Provider :silly:
Or maybe a weird app you installed "changed something" on your "hosts" files...
It comes on 3G and Wifi on my phone (at least the SGS1, the s3 had this problem only a few times )
And this really cant be that the providers could do this ****, if yes, I would sue the **** out if them and get a pay-free contract for life.
I'd say you downloaded an app that has installed another app on your phone that sends spam.
Try removing all your downloaded apps then use the phone for a week if it doesn't happen then you know its an app, if it does happen then you know its a site.
I use chrome and dont get this issue.
Also just because an app is in the app store does not mean it is safe, I always Google the app before I install it . Also apps that I'm really not sure about I download onto my computer the I scan for virus then I send via email to my phone.
Another thing it may be is if you have you chrome desktop bookmarks synced then it could be coming from the desktop sync.
Check your homepage on your PC and your home page on your phone make sure it is Google not captain stab in

Quite possibly someone on your network is using a network spoofer and redirecting your phone to those sites. Or you downloaded an app that's doing it. Remove any fishy/unnecessary apps and reset/check your hosts file

[ROOT]Fixed multitasking completely I think...

After some research and trial and error, I downloaded this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mclaught.mctweaker
You have to grant it root permission, go to memory, hit cynic killer, select On.
Hit back, save, restart if asked by the app.
Hit thanks if this helped you!

I'm not sure why it works, but even opera mobile, which closes every 2 seconds in the background(not a scientific analysis), stays open much longer. I don't know if I "solved" the problem, but this solution works very nicely with meanrom's mods. I've only played with it a few hours, but definitely a noticeable improvement.

Unless you don't want to waste time install another web browser, Chrome is much better than the stock browser.
Stock browser
At least it's smoother than chrome... Chrome sucks
I use Chrome but to be frank, it hogs on RAM. I am addicted to it but i must say, i am not able to use chrome if i plan to multitask... So, its a bit of a bummer for me and i plan to change for good....
Below is a small comparison of browsers. All Browsers were pointed to Google.co.uk
Mozilla Firefox 56MB RAM
Google Chrome 53MB RAM
Skyfire Browser 45MB RAM
Dolphin Browser 38MB RAM
Opera Mobile 31MB RAM
Boat Browser 28MB RAM
Naked Browser 28MB RAM (Credits: Profool)
All figures are subject to change based on system properties and load at that precise period. These figures are at first boot. Each time a browser was loaded, the RAM values were recorded and the device was rebooted for the next browser.
EDIT: I am leaving Chrome for good. I need a browser that is light considering that I use an Xperia U and have to be picky so that i don't compromise on performance. Boat Browser for now...It aint all that flashy but that's what i need...
I tried all browsers on playstore.

Wonderful Trick For Gamers!! (No Lag during gameplay)

So we all know by now that task managers are almost worthless these days because the second it closes the apps, it reopens causing most times your phone to lag even more during gameplay. I have a solution if you are up to it.
The solution is very simple. If you really want to play the games you love, you have to make some sort of sacrifice (and I'm not talking about some voodoo **** lol). Freeze the majority or all apps that consume the most of your ram which run in the background like Facebook, twitter, whatsapp, viber, google play, widgets ect.
Use this wonderful free app called App Quarantine and freeze some apps.
Root is required though.

You don't have to freeze all your background apps but the ones you don't need at the moment. I've left whatsapp and viber and still experienced a very great gameplay, which lagged a lot before.
Here is a screenshot of my available ram, stabilized after 10 minutes I've frozen some apps.
If you want to go all the way and freeze some system apps as well, here is another free application called Apps2Rom which freezes system apps as well. Here is a screenshot after I've frozen some system apps after 10 minutes like google play services, keyboard, sound enhancement and infinitive view. This app requires a reboot so reboot after freezing system apps.
As you can see in the memory monitor, the available ram is very stable. Now look at me playing a HQ game without lag!!
Using this you can hover between 60 - 70% of available ram for gameplay which is more than enough to play HQ games without even overclocking your system to speed up your gameplay.
Now go on with your fine self and have the best gaming experience on your phone!

Greenify is only for Honeycomb and beyond isn't it? And also you have to pay to freeze the system apps there. Apps2Rom is free, and it works on gingerbread.
Titanium backup pro is awesome 2 u can 2 touch freede everything!

Yes it's for honeycomb and above. But it's way better than the above if on ics/Jb. And Greenify does not support hibernating of system apps since I last checked.

I was using a firewall for freezing the apps that uses internet connections and i had very good gaming performance, almost no lags in heavy games with 3g connection on stock kernel!!!
If you say that's better i will try it and report later mate!! Cheers! :good:

Yeah totally true. But not everyone is able to purchase the pro version so I thought I'd give a alternative which is free.

Very true, Although there are Alternatives like u mentioned, Personally,i freeze Everything exept the game and terminal and The app itself (terminal cus i have a script that i use (Adrenaline Boost) before i play games,it dumps the Cache or Davlik Cache i think which makes games So smooth!
May I ask what games are you using this for? I already have 300mb free ram so would this help?

You have 300mb free ram? How? lol. Which application do you have installed on your phone? I've played Backstab and Dark Legends with no problem (but did before). However I'm still not able to play Dungoun Hunters 3 without lag which sucks.

It is very easy reach more of the 300mb with a 480p kernel.
Link2SD can freeze apps. Play Offline and you can get Higher RAM usage.

I don't freeze apps or use airplane mode like they suggest. I'm on gin2gb 2.3.0 with lupusv8 480 kernel. I just goto running services, end anything I don't need, and have about 320mb free ram before I open a game.
