I've noticed battery life is better while it's in sleep mode, for me.
WebOS still has the best battery life, IMO.

My battery performance on 0903 is the best I've seen on any CM7, CM9 or nightly ROM. Still not as good as in webOS, but if I'm forced to use that, I might as well shut the tablet off

Weird, I was finding the 9/3 highly was not having the same battery life as my 8/19 so I went back. I see a newer highly is out there so I may give it a try.

I may be wrong but I believe the kernel effects battery life more so than the rom itself. I haves had great success with s0niqu3's categorically worthless kernel. As development has stopped on this, I have recently moved to overstock with good life as well. Can't speak of the others as I have not test drove them much. Just my .02...

Ok running that now now I need a good kernel an not overstock I have home button issue were I can't her into multitask menu it just go straight to home screen
Bi-winning, I get about 16 hours with normal use.
Do you need to Calibrate the battery after a kernel change or only when you change to a new rom?
it is recommended that you recalibrate by some authors. but after flashing bi winning my battery seemed to perform normally. however I did recalibrate and did not find any significant difference

Been using The Beast v1.0 and having amazing results with an overclocked kernel. Full day use. 3 days if I don't touch it. About to flash The Beast Final. Also remember to be fully charged when you're flashing ROMs.

[Q] Battery Life on J's rom

I have been flashing roms for a while but I have stuck to Wolf's rom for the past month or so and I'm thinking about going back to J's Cyanogen but I was wondering what is the battery life like now on this rom as it was pretty poor the last time I tried it.
You probably had the deep sleep issue on your phone. which there is a thread on it if you give it a search.
I have great battery life when I use it.

[Q] CM7 Nightly vs. Stable

Hey guys, Epic 4g user here. I'm updating a buddies phone to CM7 and just wanted to get the communities opinion on which route to go. He works alot of hours so we don't really get much time to play around with different builds so I want to get a very stable and battery efficient rom on it for him. So my question is the latest nightly build stable enough to run as a daily driver? Anyone have problems with battery with CM7 stable or nightly? Would you recommend a different rom instead of CM7?
Don't feel obligated to answer all or any of the questions lol just wanted some opinions! Thanks!
Grompy
I'm using UnNamed ROM 1.1. I like it a lot. Very stable and very good battery life. It's worth looking into in my opinion.
If you choose cm7 go for the most recent nightly, it's extremely stable and the recently nightly fixes wifi tethering. Everything works perfectly and no issues, I've been running the nighties for awhile with no issue.

Thanks! I'll definitely keep it in mind. It'll probably ultimately come down to which one he thinks looks better

Thanks for the feedback. If we go with cm7 I'll use the latest nightly any reports on battery life? He was complaining that his stock rom out of the box was only lasting him 7-8 hrs :\
Battery life is great for me since I've started using juice defender and cm7. Overnight I loose two percent in 8 hours and I get through the day with heavy usage and thirty percent left with close to 4 hours screen time. I'll try and post some screenshots if you'd like once I'm home

Nah I trust you lol. My usage of cm7 on my epic sounds the same with the same outcome! Thanks

There is no best. This is a ridiculous question that gets asked every day. What's good for one person may not be for someone else.
You have to try them for yourself.
If there was a best, surely everyone would use only 1 rom....

Try CheckROMv2 + nimphetamin3 kernel

Hi,
It's not a silly question - there are far too many custom roms with custom kernels. The combinations of these add up to an awful lot of flashing, not to mention then running it for a few days to get an idea on battery and performance. It would probably take weeks!
Anyways, for me, i rooted my stock UK rom using Chainfire 6.3, and then froze any bloatware apps i didn't use or want using Titanium Pro. This is now giving me better battery life than previously and running nice and smooth.
To give you an idea, i had around 25 hours moderate use with around 4.5 hours screen time.
Hope that helps a little. I'll probably try a custom rom sometime once things settle a little more, though i'm really really hoping for Jelly Bean now.....

What Processes did you freeze? I am considering this too but I don't see too many processes which drain the battery (unlike the S2 when I first got it). Thanks.

Two questions before flashing an AOSP rom

Hey everyone.
Hope someone can help me.
Two questions basically:
1. Is there a way to get stock camera like quality with an AOSP rom? Last time I checked the picture and video quality was really really terrible in AOSP roms like CM, etc. Has this improved or is it possible to instal the Touchwiz camera on CM to get the stock picture and video quality?
2. What about battery life? I also remember it being much worse than stock. Any suggestions to make it better and more like Touchwiz rom? Maybe there's a good kernel that I should try to extend the battery life?
Thanks!

(1) cameras are mostly fixed and quality is also quite ok. I still feel Samsung was better in the past (whereas long time on aosp here)
(2) in the beginning, you are correct, battery was terrible, or at least less than TW roms, now I get nearly the same time out of it. (using slimbean)

1. Yes, it is almost the same.
2. Now battery life is the same, if not better than stock TouchWiz
I've gone through some AOSP rom threads and I still see people complaining about the camera
Is there some camera app that I would need to install or only use the AOSP stock camera that comes with the AOSP roms?

I haven't seen any complaints and when i'm not running a nightly the camera is great.
Cyanogenmod, I'm using it and in my opinion its the best ROM available, ive never had a single crash on stable versions (nightlies crash on the camera) battery life is great, performance is better than a lot of ROMs but not quite as good as Liquid Smooth and camera quality is also great. Beware that on the current CM11 nightlys the camera makes the phone crash so use CM10.2 instead.

What is screen on time.
Maybe you have not tried Stock ML2 yet. It is far better than 10.2 in terms of battery(according to your stats.)
I'm at 55% after 20 hours with 2 hours screen on time(heavy to moderate usage).

Wifi almost 60% of the time.
Heavy browsing around 40 min.
Whatsapp wechat intstagram twitter email (keep checking every hour) (no auto sync)
10 min calling.
Heavy camera usage took around 30+ pics.
maybe 15 min music.
No gaming at all.
I have 70+ apps installed.
