Hi, I wanted to know that after flashing Hard-SPL on my Hermes, can I simply download the official HTC Mobile 6.0 rom and flash it on my Hermes, or do I need to use some specific utility to flash that HTC Official Mobile 6.0 rom?
right now I care about good performance but I want all the features too and more official ones ( i'd prefer microsofts browser over opera, windows media player over some other audio player ), would I be happier with some cooked rom like VP3G's Windows Mobile 6 v2.0 ( i find this quite popular ) or would the HTC Official do fine? Sorry for asking rom preference if it is not approved over here, then my main question would be
whether you need some utility to install the official HTC Mobile 6 rom or you simply run the 54.3 MB HTC_TyTN_WWE_3.54.255.3_6275_1.48.00.10_108.exe and follow the onscreen instructions?
I think that to install the official rom you don't need to HARD-SPL flash it.
Only if you have a cooked ROM or a ROM that's not an original to your phone you need HARD-SPL (example If you want to install the original HTC-ROM on a Orange phone or something like that).
I prefer the Schap's ROM, this one is stable and works quite nice.
I've removed the original HTC ROM within a day because it was slow, crashed too much and it uses a crappy PDF reader (I prefer Adobe this one is faster than the one HTC uses).
Once you have HardSPL, you can flash all you want.
Seriously, I would load up one, run it for a day or two and then try another one. Yeah, it takes some rebuilding each time (to re-sync data and relaod other apps), but it gets to be pretty quick and it will be worth it to get the ROM you like the best.
I agree that the Original ROMs seem to be more bloated and slower and often (ironically) less stable.
I have tried MANY and have settled on the Black ROMs (currently X RC). Slueth's was also GREAT, and I understand that VP3G and Schaps are also awesome, but I have not tried their most recent ones. You really cannot go wrong once you get going.
hmmmmm, I have flashed a Nokia E70 before ofcourse the experience is totally different but I know the basic precautionary measures, however, I was wondering how much of a risk would it be to be flashing new roms every other day, by the way I forgot to mention that I have/going to get in a few days Cingular 8525, thats why HTC rom isn't original for me...
I like these custom rom's but I have one question, I love the dark green look I saw somewhere on an ebay page, are the custom rom's hardcoded to a specific theme or you can change themes ( i don;t even know if windows mobile has themes in the first place ), if I am over my themeing problems, then I guess i gotta choose the rom thats all...
I am in USA right now but going to Pakistan in two weeks, I see this radio upgrade 1.43.00.00, is it worth upgrading to it? My uses are GPRS, GSM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and maybe Infrared too...
If someone has tried quite a lot of rom's maybe he/she can suggest me a good rom to switch to?
As much as a clean simple hermes user i wanted to be, I am getting more and more pulled towards modding my hermes and trying all sorts of stuff

TyTN best rom upgrade?
I own a TyTN with rom version:1.18.255.3, date:07/22/06, radio: 1.03.03.10, ExtRom: 1.18.255.106
Although every post is very helpful, I still feel confused about the "right" upgrade for my device.
I tried to download the latest version from HTC official web site, but I still wait for a registration confirmation from them (one week ago ) and I can't download anything.
I have to admit that my TyTN works perfectly at the moment.
But I still want the latest version
Can someone help me?
Go to THIS LINK and then flash like a madman! It is fun and pretty safe (as long as you do the HardSPL upgrade). We were all nervous once, but now I am sure that I have flashed my phone at least 100 times.
Thanks a lot I'll try it and come back for sharing.
Which version do you prefer? How about the WM6 Black Majik?
Sorry for asking again, but I couldn't be able to do that for ... 100 times
Schaps 3.54c (4MB or even better 6MB pagepool) if you want to have Greek customisation after the install.

Majik is a bit old now. I prefer the latest Black X RC release. Haven't checked in a few days, that could be old too Black Satin is newer than Majik also.
lagoskon is right about Schaps - his ROMs are good, Sleuth has some good ones, VP3G is well respected... really, I am not sure you can go wrong. I would just pick one and give it a try and if you don't like it, try another one. Only the first couple are difficult/scary. Do put Olipro's HardSPL on there first though - will keep you safe.
What is the best Rom for HD2?
Newbie here - to this site anyway - having just bought a HD2. I've had a look through the various Rom sites and the spreadsheet, but I can't decide which Rom to try for my HD2. I need to be up and running pretty quickly but I don't mind a bit of tweaking in my spare time.
I've had WM6.1 for a while on my old PDA and have tweaked it a bit.
As far as I can see I want the most up to date but reliable. Other criteria are fast, relatively lean, appointments/calendar, Outlook (MS Exchange), Internet, Office 2010. I use GPS a lot (have a couple that I've bought for 6.1). No social media - don't use it much.
I like the screen to show time and appointments most importantly and to have easy access to email - I get about 80 per day.
Please be as constructive as possible. Maybe some pros & cons would be helpful.
Many thanks

Try the Energy Rom, Miri's Rom, Artemis, Dutty's - there are sooo many it's crazy hard to count...
I've been constantly switching between Energy and Dutty, Energy because it's easier to use and setup, looks nicer from the start, and is blazing fast, but Dutty's I find snappier and much better battery life. It's all personal experience... Just wait til you turn into a flash-a-holic like most of us here.
i tried them all and keep trying them all i am a flash addict , on a serious note just try them all until you find one you like
I'd go with this one:
http://hotfile.com/dl/92454692/a2b18ee/Energy.Leo.21916.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.sencity.Dec.27.7z.html
taken from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
It's a very stable 6.5 ROM with the awesome black and white sencity theme. It is fast and optimized and has everything you want. And it's Cookie 2.0 which means you can modify every aspect of the home screen, including email alerts, calendar, etc...
make sure you have the right radio per this:
If you're a beginner, read on as there's a few things you need to do first.
You need to install a modified "SPL" on your device that allows installation of custom ROMs such as this one. It's called a "Hard SPL" and it's in of these stickies at the top of this forum (not this thread!).
You need to install a compatible "radio" firmware that works with this ROM. The radios that work with this ROM all have ".50" in their name.
If you have a TMobile USA branded device, then you don't need to flash a "radio". The ROM will work just fine with it. However, if you own an asian or european HD2 then you NEED to flash a .50 radio.
I RECOMMEND FLASHING RADIO 2.07.50 or 2.12.50 ! 2.07 can be downloaded here: > CLICK <.

Duttys_2.5_5.23152.5.3.12_3.14_HD2_ML_Family_ROM_(V13a)_WWE.7z is COM3 BUILDS
Duttys_2.5_5.21916.5.0.95_3.14_HD2_ML_Family_ROM_(V12)_WWE.7z is COM2 BUILDS.
If you use GPS software like [Garmin XT],you should go for COM2 BUILD as It's work great and no problem with me.
For COM3 it may have some problem with Garmin XT.
For me the good choice is Duttys_2.5_5.21916.5.0.95_3.14_HD2_ML_Family_ROM_(V12)_WWE.7z is COM2 BUILDS.
COM2 have the start menu on the top left corner.
COM3 have the start menu on the bottom left corner.
I am ususally a stock ROM guy, lately I tryed many custom ROMs,my problem with almost all of them was that they are based on latest HTC 3.14 FW,since I rely mostly on WIFI,and after trying Zillion times, its connection to the WIFI is just unstable.
However for the last couple of days I found this ROM called Clynex, for the first time I am so far happy with the WIFI connection,Its a bare bone ROM,very fast, usually I end up with 110MB of internal storage after installing my usuall applications, now I have 256MB !!.
RAM starts with over 300MB,on stock ROM It is next to impossible to have Opera 10 running and at the same time open the Camera, with this no problem even with few Tabs running.!!
I am using the standard one since ultra doesnt let you customize your themes,if someone wants to try it I suggest that re-install the CHT-EDITOR 1.8.5,-I was having language incompatibility ERROR.
Nice thread to exchange experiances and views.
Thanks for that info. Clynex? Is that CleanEX? If not do you have a link please
Cheers...
Yes that is it, Im using the RV Standard v. 1.01. 6.5
I tryed ultra but switched back to standard 6.5 since I needed the Co0kies 1.8.5 for theme customization.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875125
I did couple of things:
1-re-installed the the CHT editor 1.8.5(not Cookies just the CHT)
2-installed the marketplace ,you can find the .cab somewhere in this forum.
3-deleted the unnecessary Ringtones.
4-I noticed that most of the Tweaks were already done, but I changed the camera 5MP to 762929 in the registery, this will give you photos of 720p quality.
You can try le last Artemis v48.1.
This is the best artemis ROM at this moment for me
I am using Dutty's family Rom V13a, amazing battery life compared to stock and it has not crashed once since installing. Stock was freezing and crashing all the time.
Re GPS and Com. My presnt PDA is using Com 9 for the GPS.
What is the standard for the HD2?

So guys I'm wondering, is there a way I can find out what radio I'm using while I'm using Android from NAND? I want to try WinMo with a NRG ROM but I'm not too sure what radio I have and I don't want to brick my phone. OR should I have a radio compatible because I'm already using MAGLDR and HSPL etc? Thanks.

Hi there Skellyyy.
To find out what Radio you have while you are running Andriod go to Settings and scroll down to Band frequency. It should have a number that looks like this "15.42.50.11U 2.15.50.14". Your numbers may not be the same as mine but the format will be the same. The 15.42.50.11U is my Protocol version, and the 2.15.50.14 is my Radio version. Now if you need a different Radio version with the ROM you want to flash then go to this thread. It is a very good place to learn about Radios and what they do, plus you can probably download the radio you need or want there. It has like all the radios there just about.
I see you are from Dublin, Ireland so maybe someone here on XDA can tell you what radio is reported as working best in this area if you do not have to have a spacific radio version for tbe ROM you want to flash.
I give credit to senior member samsamuel from who I learned this from but once you see a list of radios together it is kind of apparent. But if the radio has a 51 in it then it is a regular HD2 radio, but if it has a 50 in it then it is a TMOUSA radio. Example 2.xx.51.xx is a regular HD2 radio and 2.xx.50.xx is a TMOUSA radio.
Hope this helps you out.
Thanks for the reply and found it out on my own but thanks anyway. Yeah, I think you may be wrong about the radio .50 and .51 thong though. I have a 2.15.50.14 radio and I'm on a EU Leo. This'll work on WinMo ROM's will it?
May sound crazy, but I bought my HD2 like two months ago with Android already on NAND so I never used WinMo before and I'm just curious to see what its like on the HD2. What it should be like nativly.

The tmous radios will work on a EU leo, however the EU radios will kill a tmous phone....
If you have an EU handset then you need to flash a .50. radio to enable the extra memory trick required for flashing most custom roms. iirc.......
I use an energy rom and would highly reccomend them, however if your used to android and not WM6.5 then you may not be too impressed.
Go for a rom with CHT2.0 cooked in as this is must have, in my opinion for anybody using WM6.5.........

Thanks. What's CHT 2.0? I'm merely just going to try WinMo for maybe a day and see what all the complaints are about. Is the memory trick like using the Ext3 partition on an SD card for data or something?
So I should be fine flashing a WinMo ROM on my radio?
I was planning on trying an NRG ROM, one that was close to stock but with some improvements and tweaks and what-not. What other ROM's do you recommend?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Ive only ever used energy roms as Im not really a flash addict. I prefer to stick with one and tweak the hell out of it
CHT2.0 = Cookies Home Tab 2.0
Its an add-on for the HTC sense UI, its basically the way HTC should have made the sense interface. It allows you much more flexibility in how you can customise the home screens.
You can find it here.....
There are energy roms with it already cooked in, thats probably the one I would recommend.
Other popular roms are Dutty's Roms and Artemis Roms.
You'll find these in the 6.5 Rom development section, they're too close to stock for me though.
The thing about 6.5 is that it needs time and patience to get it set up how you want, once you acheive that no other OS compares as far as Im concerned.
re the radio memory trick;
Im not sure how it compares to the android partition thing as Im really not clued up on that but you dont need to do anything as long as you have the right radio and the rom has been cooked properly it'll be all good.

CHT 2.0 stands for Cookies Home Tab 2.0 it is a defferent manila home screen that really rocks. The CHT 2.0 makes the Windows Mobile home screen like the Andriod home screen by giving you pages left and right, but it unlike Andriod it gives you pages up and down too. If you are use to Andriod you will really like CHT 2.0.
The memory trick that conantroutman mention is where the ROM make the HD2 think it has the same amount of memory as a TMOUSA HD2 or atleast I think that is what he meant. The Euro HD and The TMOUSA HD2 have different ram and memory specs.
Yes the Euro HD2 can flash a TMOUSA radio but the TMOUSA HD2 can only flash TMOUSA radios, if it is not a TMOUSA radio and it is flashed to a TMOUSA HD2 it will brick the HD2. Your radio you have will work with Win Mo ROMs. If I was you though I would run a task 29 befor flashing the Win Mo ROM just so you will have a clean HD2 to flash the ROM to. Also I would mosf definitly advise you to flash a custom ROM cause if you try to flash the official ROM for your HD2 it will remove both HSPL and MAGLD from your HD2. You will want to keep both of these so hou can reflash a NAND Andriod ROM to your HD2 when you get tired of Win Mo or nust want to revert back to Andriod.
Thanks for all the info guys.
I'm downloading the Sencity NRG ROM now. One thing though, it has two versions, 28244 and 21916, does it matter which one I download or is one for the US Leo and one for the EU?
To sum it up quickly........
28244 = 6.5.x - start button in the bottom left of the screen and two big softkeys next to it - slightly newer build version but slightly more unstable.
Apparently more finger friendly.
21918 = 6.5 - start button in the top left on the taskbar. The official build which all stock roms are based on. In my opinion looks cleaner and more stable.
Both will work on either model. Check some screenshots to see the visual differences, I dont like the look of 28244 but its all down to personal taste.
28244 is newer & popular as far more finger friendly due to menu & close keys in in bottom bar.
These ROMs set up well far surpass android.
I'm on 21916 now. Feels like I have a new phone! Still need to get used to it.
How do I get my google contacts to sync to my phone?

I was about to tell you I dont think its possible...........
Then I found this....
Never done it myself but should work fine.
Activesync is the connection between the HD2 and the PC. If your on XP.
If your using Vista or Win7 you might need to dl Windows Mobile Device Centre to get a connection.
Enjoy your "new phone"

I would really recommend 28244 builds as they offer advanced features & more touch friendly UI.
Enjoy it, Android is quite dull & limited compared to an Energy ROM with a clued up user.
Sad to say... I had to go back to NAND Android. Gave WinMo a shot, but I just felt it's so outdated. Maybe because I've tried WP7 and Android before it. Just found it a bit too business-man like for me. Just overall, found it not as good as the up to date OS' out there atm. Oh well, maybe I'll try it again soon.
I'm shocked, Android is dull as mud & as flexible as glass.
You should of tried it a bit longer.

Put a MIUI ROM on there and you'll feel like a good smack in the face of android... to wake up and smell all that (eclair, froyo, gingerbread and honeycomb goodness).
Has anyone tried both of these ROMs on the Amaze? I've read all 46 pages of the Revolution forum and several Energy. Both look like they meet my needs. But I'd like a good comparison between them.
My needs:
- Close to stock feel/look (like the blue themes)
- Ability to remove pre-installed apps/bloatware
- Wi-fi calling (must have due to my location)
- Better battery life
- A bit snappier
- Free tethering would be a bonus
I've read that some have experienced texting and mms sending issues with Energy and some say that Revolution is outdated.
I realize YMMV, but I'd appreciate a comparison between the 2. Thanks.

I'm loving Revolution right now... And I ran Energy since the day it came out.
It has the stock feel and way easier to customise. It feels better than the stock Rom I just came from.
They're both easy to debloat and deodexed.
I use my phone so much that I get roughly the same battery life on both.
Both ROMs are very fast and snappy.
I would recommend both... But I'm preferring ARHD right now.
MrMako777 points out a good point though in another threas. ARHD is 1.36 build so no WiFi calling, so if u need that, then Energy would be better (although I prefer stock rooted over energy)

Hmmm. That's a little confusing. On the Revolution Thread, it says that there is "improved wi-fi calling" (from Post #1, ARHD 1.1.0 release date 19 Nov 11). Maybe since I need to have wi-fi calling, I should go with Energy.
Have you had the opportunity to test wi-fi calling with either one? Any issues (notably, the sending problems with Energy or the lack of capability with ARHD)?
Thanks again!
Sorry... Revolution is identical to stock as far as UI look... It is built on 1.36 which the stock 1.36 didn't have WiFi calling. I haven't tested it on revolution, but WiFi calling does work on Energy ROM. There's also a modified messaging apk that fixes a time stamp issue with texts.

Oh certainly... Wallpapers, Ringtones, Sounds, and even lockrings can be personalized on ALL rooted ROMs... NRGZ28 just has a heavy blue theme on his Rom... On the statusbar icons, dialer, app icons... Etc...
XBoarder has a pretty sick 3.5 ROM also that I'm a big fan of. You can find that at android-dev.us.
Craigtut has an ics themed ROM that is pretty nice also. I can't say too much, but his next update for that ROM is pretty sick

xboarders sense 3.5 rc1.7, great rom (my DD) it's fast, stable, and had great tweaks. though it doesn't leave much room for themes, as m10tools for 3.5 was never well adopted.

I like the 3.5 (its called Sense 3.5 RC1.7) for it has 3.5 features compared to 3.0... I mainly like the snappiness and loon myself.
Here's what I do. I flash a ROM using 4ext. I backup its stock load. Then I customize. After I have it the way I want and am sure its running stable after I modify it, I do a another backup and delete the old backup. Then I format all partitions (except sd) in the recovery's wipe menu and flash the next ROM... And repeat

Sorry... I just had to quote this.
It's not everyday someone comments on how about how vibrant and active the Amaze development community was...
There are a few others that I didn't mention from HeyJoe and Chrispaw also here, as well as more at Android-dev.us.
When ICS and s=off happen, it should get even better.

I list all the Roms here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1545464
i have to update this lol, but no stable releases have come out in a while
we do have a lot of roms , just no ICS
We have about 15 roms give or take
Thanks to all of you for your inputs. I'm going to go with the Energy ROM and see how that goes. Maybe I'll try something else after that.

Well, this phone was really easy to unlock/root. The custom recovery has a lot of interesting options--I see how easy it is now to switch between ROMs when you get bored with one!
For those that are lurking and may be intested in my experience (b/c you'd like to try something like this):
- The "How To Root HTC Ruby" was very helpful. for the overall rooting process Post #2 was a bit confusing (I think there are some links missing). I basically went to the HTCDev website, registered, and followed the unlock instructions on the site.
- I used the Clockword Mod custom recovery (as opposed to what was suggested in the above post). A good thing to note is that when installing a ROM it says to do a reset/wipe, the author generally means through the recovery, not the device (I ended up doing both since I didn't know about the option in the recovery).
- Once the recovery is in place, adding the ROM is as simple as downloading the ZIP, copying it to SDcard, rebooting to recovery, and loading the ZIP. If I can do it, just about anyone else can, too!
- After installing the Energy ROM, I could not get the WiFi to work. Rather than read hundreds of posts, I did a search on that thread and found an updated kernel in Post #4. Followed the specific instructions and problem solved.
Now that I have been running this for a couple of days, only a few things that I don't like:
- Random reboots. Though I did have them on stock, they appear more often now.
- The HTC Trace keyboard acts much differently than on stock. For example, when swiping some letters, words I've never used pop up and choices that I expect don't appear. I presume it's because NRG customized it for himself.
- It is REALLLY blue. If you don't like blue, this is not the ROM for you! (Did not mean to rhyme that but if works.) Blue is my favorite color so I don't mind it that much. But because of the way he has themed it, some screens appear much darker than they should. Also, within the tray, there is no distincition between background apps (like WiFi calling, JuiceDefender, etc) and Notifications (package updates, email updates, etc) because the theme is so dark.
Overall, now that I've "got my feet wet" with this ROM, I may actually look at others. But this was a great place to start.
I got no reboots with Energy ROM. I've never gotten a reboot (unless I was testing something in alpha/beta stages) on this phone. And if u used 4ext recovery, you wouldn't have had the broken WiFi because you don't have to flash the kernel separately.

i never had any random boots with any rom besides Bliss Sense 3.5 ( My FAV Sense 3.5 but was never released stable ............
Maybe I got a lemon device. Though I talked to a t-mo rep who has an Amaze and he said there are occasional reboots.
I may try another ROM and see if that helps but I doubt it will.

are there any big differences between these two?
and if there are, then what?
which one do you prefer?

Eburon 2.1 - I like the color and no more white only icons and task bar; the settings sell the ROM! He also baked in several Nokia apps; I thought 2.0 was great; this is sweet!

both have their advantages and disadvantages. I prefer ultrashots (dynamics) due to the extra custom tweaks + the clock hub used.
HOWEVER, Eburoms rom is very appealing with extra colors/themes/accents. Like Berry said...the settings do sell the rom.
As an off the grid cooker myself, both roms are almost flawless. I don't think my own roms could ever match the quality and care they put in their roms...seriously. -lol
Anyway, if flashing roms becomes addicting to you like it did to me back in the day, you will eventually flash both roms to see for yourself!
thank u for youre opinions, i couldnt hold myself so i flashed from the eburom to dynamics, and i must say that both of them seems great, but i prefer the dynamics version, because it looks/feels more like the outof the box 7.8 version, with some great tweaks.. hopefully a 2.1 of the dynamics will still be uploaded even though he sais in his post that he will stop after that.
had a lumia 900 which i flashed with the "official" 7.8 rom from the nokia servers .. but both eburom and dynamics beets the hell out of it

you're welcome!
I tried both; I prefer Dynamics, because of its "factory" feel.
And because it integrates the Nokia Drive app!
Excellent (free) sat nav.
I have not been able to find a decent sat nav app for WP7.anything apart from Nokia Drive, so I went back to Dynamics from Eburon.
I love the look of the Eburon ROM, though...

All common free nokia apps are integrated in eburon rom since version 2.1 - also nokia drive. But I 've also tried dynamics - its also a very great rom. But I like some more color in rom, this was one of the reasons I started with cooking and sharing roms. Really curious what ultrashot will put in his next version.
sorry for maybe beeing a bit offtopic, but is there a way to add/install nokia version of viber? Stock viber is without call option and a bit poor in function but i am not able to find/download/install nokia viber ( with a lot of more function). Using Eburon 2.1 and it works absolutely perfect with all integrated nokia apps

I'm somewhat curious to know what the official HTC Titan I update is to be relative to the custom ROMs. I've got bets there will be more than a few customized 7.8 ROMs this upcoming weekend...if this is all that it is advertised to be why in the world did it take this long, I do not know. What I'd give to have Skype baked into the darn thing but that's wishful thinking. I won't update to 8.x until XDA has something more definitive on if it can be HSPL and customized and then what device it can be done on.

A little off topic...I wouldn't hold your breath on this one... HTC tweeted me a couple of days ago that atm there are no plans to release a 7.8 update for the Titan/HD7. It is just speculation that Nokia is the only OEM rolling out the update tomorrow...no one else. HTC also tweeted me that if there was an update, it wouldn't be rolled out till ~March.
If it indeed is true and the Titan (or more than one device) doesn't receive an official 7.8 update, I'm afraid I might have to part ways with HTC for my next device. It only goes to show that Nokia is the true OEM that really cares for WP. I may have an unlocked device that I can install custom roms on, but there are plenty of others -especially on ATT that are still on 7720 that have the disappearing keyboard problem...my father included. And yes it is extremely frustrating!
Anyway, but yea I don't think we'll see many more custom roms. I was curious to see about the official update myself as I was waiting to build a custom rom off that to use with the 16 radio.
