Hi guys,
I have a Galaxy S III which is bought in Barcelona Spain. Sadely it is simlocked and so I cannot use my Belgian sim card..
I'm wondering how this simlock works?
Also: If I flash a custom rom such as Cyanogenmod, will the SIM lock be gone?
If not? Any reliable other suggestions I can try?
(I already tried some but neither of them worked untill now)
Regards,
Nick

You don't have to pay, just download the app from the thread(not from the market) and make sure you have busybox installed (I don't know how much it costs)

-----------------old post-------------My problem-----
HI everyone ....
i am not new to XDA but new to s3......
why does my brand new galaxy s3 which i bought yesterday has Vodafone apps and widgets.... its international then why..i bought this from Pakistan and there is NO such carrier as VODAFONE in Pakistan. i bought this its was brand new sealed.
info= pebble blue
=16gb
=baseband=i9300bulg2
build=imm76d.i9300bublg3
also i know the baseband is of another country and might be able to flash and remove this but my question is why.......................this phone was completly brand new sealed when i opened it yesterday and has vodaphone apps (bloatware) like wth..... ....... should i send it back or something lol.
EDIT = FLASHED UK ROM NOW I HAVE ANY NO NETWORK SIGN
UPDATE= SO AFTER THE NO SIGNAL ISSUE THE PHONE HAS BEEN SHOWN TO MANY TECHNICIANS BY THE SELLER AND FINALLY I WILL GET MY PHONE BACK TOMORROW ITS PRACTICALLY USELESS AND NO
SIGNAL TILL NOW GONNA FLASH FIRMWARE THAT IT CAME WITH ...TOMORROW....THATS MY ONLTY CHANCE.....
Update 3---- flashed stock firmware ....same.....but now it's says no service and that no signal sige
UPDATE--4 fixxed it with a modem patch..
-----------------new post below----http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918601-----
HERE IS THE fix^^^
You'll probably find its bought from the UK or anywhere else in Europe, flashed in Pakistan, then made available to sell....just flash UK firmware and it should be fine
anyone interested in blu-ray steelbooks, holla at your boy
You have bought a Vodaphone SGS3 .
Why you need to ask the seller .
As said looks like you have been sold an import .
jje
My s3 is a Vodafone import. Use galaxsim unlock to check if it's not networked locked. But since you can use your aim straight out of the box you should be good. Then Just flash a rom as speedyjay suggested.

Have you checked to see if the phone is network locked? Download galaxsim from the market and check your status.

Just saw your post about nv_data error. If the stock flash isn't working it may be time to visit the Samsung service centre.
Try downloading roms from other countries, if it doesn't work then the service centre is your only option.

Hi,
So I am wondering if it is possible to root the international S3 without a computer. I am running Swedish stock 4.1.1.
I am not new to android but I am new to xda. The reason I am asking is because I am currently backpacking in Australia and I need to root so I can get the latest update + fix a bunch problems.
With me I have a Asus transformer Eeepad if it helps at all wich I doubt.
Thanks in advance all you helpfull xda members.
Regards Reclused
If you have another device there is an app that can root from another phone... I'll look for it and post the link
Strange.. I have it installed but not showing anywhere for a link. Search root transmission here in the forums. You'll find it

How would you do that, rooting one device with another rooted device and not use Odin/Mobile Odin? Can`t think of a way right now.

Imo impossible, you always need Odin to install SU and/or CWM. If you can run that from a tablet it is oke.
-EDIT- Here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2014121, but not for the international S3 atm, not supported yet.
Thanks a lot, I hope they figure it out soon for the international one.
The thing is that I want the latest update on my s3 but I can't get it OTA because it is "changed" status. So I figured I would root it and flash the latest stock version via mobile Odin. But can I root the TF101 without a computer and then use the root transmission perhaps? It has the latest version 9.2.1.27 ICS.

Check this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1104, make sure it is for your model. I don`t have a tablet myself so can`t help you much there
Root your asus: see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1366743
Oh i saw u linked the root transmission app link sorry for misunderstanding. Okay it seems I'm ****ad... :/ Thanks for all your help. Anyways.

Most of the root apps requires busybox installed so if you plan to install many root apps then yes it's quite important to have it.

Yes. Just search on the playstore and you'll find one. Make sure to read the reviews too. I personally have Busybox Pro installed so i recommend that one too however you need to buy it. There are others that are free though.

i dont think you will mess up your phone when rooting it. if you flash kernel or rom then of course yes but root? no chances. and you said that you can boot your phone to download mode soo you always can flash stock rom.
Did you ever find any info, michaelsinbad?
