All my Droid Razr is doing is just showing the Motorola icon and nothing else after I tried changing the font on my phone using Rom Toolkit. I don't have bootstrap or a custom recovery loaded on my phone. I am hoping that I can flash a font zip from stock recovery and fix it without losing any data.

I believe its the XT912. The Verizon one.
I believe I was able to fix it. I was going to use RSD Lite to flash the official ICS software. But I read the the fonts are only located on the system partition. So I took the official software and got the system img and in fastboot just flashed the system img. I had already lost all the data because I tried a factory reset. But I think that would have saved me from losing my data and I would just need to reroot the phone.

Hey,
I had a Samsung Galaxy 3 and now have moved to the Razr. So, I had CWM installed on the sammy.
Now what is this bootstrap? Is it the same as CWM? If not, what's the difference?
I would kindly request one of the mods to please write a guide to installing the recovery.
Also, please do separate the Droid RAZR and RAZR XT910 forum if possible.
Razr Bootstrap Recovery is a apk that u install on your rooted phone that will let u boot into CWM. Do to the fact that we have a locked bootloader. At the moment we cant overide the factory recovery or it isnt smart to. Just download the program nd install it like a normal app. Once u have it install u can open the program "razr bootstrap recovery"
So when u open it u will see two buttons one says bootstrap recovery and the other is reboot recovery.
Click bootstrap recovery first, then at that moment the app will ask for superuser permissions. Say yes when it comes up.
Then when it finishes bootstrap u should see a text box pop up and say sucessful.
Now u can hit the reboot recovery button and it will reboot your phone into CWM.
This program will only boot u into CWM that one time. So u have to go into the app nd hit each button each time u want to boot into CWM.
Sorry for bad grammer and spelling

What's the difference between the Droid razr and the razr XT910?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
As we haven't still got an unlockable bootloader, we can't flash a custom recovery to the recovery partition.
A recovery image contains:
1. Recovery's Kernel
2. Recovery /system (Android recovery)
The bootstrap recovery will reboot your phone to a CWM recovery that is working with the normal Android system's kernel, it is "bootstrapped" after the Android's early boot, differently from a normal recovery that simply has nothing to do with Android system.
In less words, the bootstrap recovery isn't a real recovery and if you **** up your Android system you won't be able to access it.
A bootloader solution is coming with the ICS update in late dec / early jan, so don't worry: we'll soon have a decent and real recovery, too.
...And I think it's better to have the forums like that: a lot of work done for the GSM version works on the CDMA one, too. For example, my WebTopMOD, my eprj_MCP governor etc...
If we would have two sections, I would never know that some of my work works even of CDMA RAZR as I would never doublepost it into the other section.

Droid razr is the american version that comes with 4g,the xt910 is the european version of the razr that just has 3g+.
i think those are the only differences but feel free to correct me if i am wrong.
I think the RAZR XT910 has an unlocked BL. As Moto had promised to unlock the BL depending on the carrier preference. But here in India, the carrier has no say...so i guess its safe to assume that its unlocked.
Also, would it just be better to wait for a real recov then? I mean, its not like we're flashing custom ROMs on our RAZRs anyways now....
if you guys check the rootzwiki forum BMc and droidtheory put together a boot into clockwork perm...it'll do wonders until we get fast boot files...I put a script for noobs on there as well to run if confused or stuck

I have rooted my CDMA Droid Razr and use Bionic Bootstrapper to boot into CWM recovery v4.0.1.5 but after I do the wipe and such and try to install any rom (Have tried The Artic 2.3.1 and INFEX 1.1) they seem to complete the install fine but when I reboot I still have the stock rom. Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong?

Well your first problem is that you're using bootstrap for the Bionic on a Razr.

Really? It was installed with a one click root option for the razr. What should I use then?

Thanks I got it. I just goggled for the razr bootstrap app and installed it via ADB and now it seems to work. Thanks!
Also make sure you read rom instructions most use safestrap or bootstrap but not both. make sure you are using the right one.

1. Root with 1.81 utility
2. Go here and grab safestrap http://rombot.org/ROMs/spyder/ (you may want to start from a clean rooted install on your safe system)
3. Follow how to safestrap
4.choose a rom, flash
5. profit

Thanks i am used to the old way unlock boot loader and boot into cwm but now it seems we have other steps. What is booting into safe system boot? And how do you do it....

Hello all,
I recently rooted my Motorola Droid RAZR & made a backup of the stock rom with root that I'd had. I played around with a few roms and now I want to flash back to the backup that I originially made.
I've now restored the device to the original ROM. When I reboot the system, it gives me the SafeStrap option & I hit the Search Button to continue to boot the ROM. At this point, the screen stays black & nothing happens.
What should I do? RSDLite?
Thanks everyone,
Austin
I need help too

i think the better way is to flash stock with rsdlite, clear data\cache in stock recovery, then boot normally, install safestrap again and restore your backed up rom
yeah same problem......I really don't think you can restore back to stock
Sent from my XT912
Yeah I eventually had to just RSDLite the thing, it wasn't too painful.
Were can I get the files u used to restore can u share them here

and for those who get into the boot loop after flashed with rsd, boot into recovery mode and make a factory reset/wipe cache, the reboot it worked for me
cheers
Hi All,
I have a Droid Razr Maxx (Verizon) which was on 4.1.2 OTA update. I tried to edit the build.prop and messed up. The phone turns on to the Red Moto logo, later goes into the typical Droid Razr graphics and is stuck there for ever (Stuck on Booting?). I am able to enter into recovery, thankfully.
Now can anyone suggest a way to flash only the build.prop to restore it?
Else, can you point me to stock XT912M 4.1.2 so that I can flash getting into recovery?
Or is there is a better way that I could get out of this mess?
Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
Sid
I found this, but it is for Sony.

you might want to try using rsd to fully restore the phone. That would also fix your issue. I have done this lots of times. Before you start make sure your phone is charged. Or you will have to buy a USB cable that allows the phone to work with the computer with out charging.

In order to flash only build.prop you need to be able to start an adb session and then push the file, or use aroma which executes after boot menu manager so it is not a choice since you can't pass from red logo.
Easier way is rsd flashing a service rom so it will not delete so many files.
